This is my third visit and each time I have been very pleased with the food and the service has been very good on each occasion. The chowder is excellent as are the fried shrimp and catfish. Their cheesecake is very good if you like it dense and very cheesy as I do. Highly recommended. read more

We shared the sampler boil and it perfectly fed us 2; they have a boil flavor and dry seasoning flavor, the cajun has a great taste with a little spice. First, do not go on a Sunday at noon, the entire dining area was sat at one time. This was rough on the one and a half waitresses they had. Because of the rush it took us 40 mins to get our food. I do not blame it on the restaurant, it was just circumstances. I ordered the shrimp taco and it came with dirty rice. I eat a lot of shrimp tacos and theirs by far was one of the best I have ever had. My wife got the fried catfish and stated it was a bit bland, but I gave her one of the shrimp from my taco and she agreed that the flavoring was great. I was raised Cajun and the dirty rice did not look very traditional; it almost looked like Spanish rice. The taste was there though, and I would order the dish again. We'll be back at a less busy time. read more

Server got my order wrong several times: brought a shrimp basket but I ordered an oyster basket. Then brought a half dozen oysters on the half shell. Food was salty and the oysters had no flavor; dirty rice was especially salty. There was only one other table in the place. Took over 30 minutes for the correct food to come out. Nice shrimp!! I went with some friends and we shared several entrees and apps. Let's start with gumbo that my friend from Louisiana said he couldn't have done better in his own kitchen. The cup was a richly flavored and well seasoned generous portion served over rice. The boiled shrimp and crab legs were delicious. Nice big shrimp cooked in the shell with enough but not too much seasoning were easy to peel and had a perfect firm texture without being chewy. We had fried catfish which had just the right amount of crunch to go with moist tender light tasting meat. Unfortunately for me, I don't get to Rockwall often but Pier 101 may give me a reason to make the drive. read more

Walked into Pier 101 and was greeted by an enthusiastic man named CJ! I was then sat at a table with a view which allowed me to see all that was going on. Later, I found out that CJ was also my waiter (FYI best service ever). The food was delicious and I know for a fact that everything that comes out of that kitchen is spectacular. Went for a weekday lunch. Quite pleased with the selections. Salad was fresh and varied using multiple different greens. Seafood soup was outstanding, fresh ingredients, thick, and a meal in itself. The food is acceptable, the prices are good (food and drinks) but they don't offer bibs for the crabs and they don't offer fully peeled/cleaned shrimp. They also only offer one side with their fried baskets and this does not include hush puppies like every other seafood restaurant. They need to visit The Boiling Crab or The Shell Shack and take some tips on how to spruce up their recipes and offers. read more

This is a good little spot off the square. The menu is limited but has some good choices. I particularly liked the spinach and brussels sprouts salad with shrimp. The decor and service is pretty low key. Our waitress was nice but seemed new to the job. I would recommend this spot but it will have to up its game to build a crowd. read more

The food was great, the service was far from it. The server Trevor needs a crash coarse on customer service. Not only did he forget to put my food order in, he didn't even apologize. He instead argued that I didn't order and that he would put it in. I was eating lunch with my colleagues from work and I had to just sit there while everyone else ate. They all heard me order so they felt bad eating in front of me. I told them just to start eating so their food wouldn't get cold. When my food came 15 minutes later everyone was already done and he started to clear their plates leaning over me while I was eating! I had to stop eating so he could reach the plates!! Everyone just sat there at an empty table while I tried to quickly eat. You're not suppose to clear a table until everyone's done eating. It's bad manners. He then brought the check and asked if we wanted to split it. We said no, we would like just one check. He then replied daftly "How do you want me to do that"? We then replied, "With one check, how else??" He definitely needs to learn the ten steps of customer service and learn how to write things down. I just think he's in the wrong service all together. read more

Great little place with spot on friendly service and fresh Seafood. To start we were seated promptly then served top notch mixed drinks and excellent calamari along with some of the freshest plump oysters on the half shell including fresh prepared horseradish and cocktail sauce. From there to our entrees of excellent Shrimp Taco's with dirty rice and the fried oyster basket. Both were exceptional and best fried oysters I have had in a very long time. The seafood here is awesome don't get me wrong or anything, but it's a tiny space and it has a super small menu. The stuff on the menu is good, just wish there was more. If there are a lot of people there it can get crowded and pretty loud. The wait for the table when I went was pretty long and it took the food awhile to come out but when it did it was good. Overall it needs more space and more items on the menu, that's why it's 3 stars. read more

After having several meals at Pier 101, I feel justified in reviewing this restaurant. This restaurant offers genuine seafood dishes at reasonable prices. The specials are excellent--from Shrimp'N Grits to Seafood Etouffee to Dover Sole -- fresh, quality ingredients AND you don't have to drive across the lake for it! If you want to feed a family of six for under $50, then go to Long John Silvers. If you want really great seafood then try this place. Service is wonderful, nicely refurbished building, nice downtown location, great atmosphere. But most of all, a chef who knows how to prepare seafood. read more

Tried it on New Year's Eve. Ambience: place is simply two loud. Food: I always check out gumbo when on the menu. Roux was too light and too thin and the stew was too, too salty. Shrimp tacos suffered from same overuse of salt. Probably won't go back. read more
