House salad was mixed greens, few croutons, carrots, and cucumbers. Dressing was good but at $8.99 nothing special for the price. Husbands catfish was not bad. Yum! Driving my mom home from dialysis and she exclaimed "seafood" we pulled in and had stuffed mushrooms with crab to start. The breading was not overwhelming and the flavor was on point. I've eaten at Pier101 many times and realized today when I got lunch that I have never left a review. The service was very attentative, I believe they were having HVAC issues as it was a hit hot but not uncomfortable. The restaurant was fairly empty because we had a late lunch at 2 pm. The go-to dish that got us interested in Pier101 was the crab claws in garlic butter sauce. It was good today, but something was different than the previous times we had it when it was absolutely amazing. The lunch special was a good size (similar to the panera bread lunch special). We came here on a whim as I saw the place as we passed it in the car. I looked on Yelp and it had good reviews! Establishment looked clean. There's a bar with TV and fun music. We came before the dinner rush around 5 pm so it wasn't crowded yet. Their menu offered a lot of deliciously described discoveries. We ordered a cup of soup each for appetizers. My husband got the New England Seafood Chowder and I got the Cajun Seafood Gumbo. Both were very good. Then for our main course, I ordered a Combo Basket and I chose Crab Cakes and Coconut Shrimp with Jalapeño Hushpuppies, and my husband got the Crab Cake basket with fries. We planned on tasting each other's sides! Food came with the fun dips. I loved my dish and especially enjoyed the coconut shrimp and the sweet mango sauce it came with. My husband and I both had a crab cake left and some sides, so we bagged the leftovers up for me for work. I promptly forgot them on my way to the car, when I remembered them as we were driving down the street. I called and they said they didn't throw my leftovers away yet! Thank you!!! I'm sure people who've forgetten as I have ended up rushing back to get them as the food was delicious! Good place to eat if you happen to be in Rockwall and want an authentic feel. The Place I visited on a Sunday afternoon. The place was somewhat empty and felt more like a place you'd find near a beach. Distressed wood and experimental plumbing. Food The food was pretty good with large portions. The hush puppies are good but they come with everything, including the sampler plate. That doesn't make sense except that it's a cheap filler. The stuffed mushrooms are surprisingly good. The pasta has good New Orleans style seasoning, while the catfish felt fresh. My only complaint is, pick a lane. I didn't know if this was a fresh water (it's near the lake), salt water or New Orleans themed place. That makes it harder to chose. Service Service was decent but not great for an empty restaurant with more servers than patrons. The bartender was directing traffic because the hostess and waiter were MIA. Those that have read previous reviews of mine know I like to leave a detailed review. Pier 101 first caught my attention when I was trying to find somewhere local that had fish and chips. I noticed they were also Cajun so I now was on a double mission. First the good, the gumbo was authentic and delicious. However it did come with very little rice already mixed in. I prefer a pile of rice on top but overall it was really good. The Fish and Chips were mediocre. The fish was good but the fries are thick steak fries with no seasoning and were not good at all. The fish and chips were a lunch special at $22 so they were grossly overcharging. The iced tea was great. Loved the flavor and had about 3 full glasses. When I go back I'm sticking to the Cajun part of the menu, that is really their specialty. read more

Their shrimp basket was fresh, a little small with the portion size (I have about 15 more pounds to lose anyways, so I'm not trippin'), but still pretty satisfying. The seafood sampler boil, with all the seasonings combined, had an overpowering lemon flavor, but that didn't stop it from getting gobbled up! Nothing was overcooked PEOPLE!! The jalapeno hushpuppies did not taste as fresh as the other fares, but still had a pronounced combo of flavors....still a must have! The $5 margarita during happy hour is pretty legit; I would've preferred it to be a bit stronger, so the price was just right! We went to have lunch to check it out. I will say that we were not impressed and not sure if we will be going back. We had the ceviche, which left a lot to be desired, it was too acid and the pieces of fish were too big for a ceviche. We also had the coconut shrimp which had good flavor, but when we asked for more pineapple sauce, they gave us cold sauce which doesn't taste as good as when heated as they gave us initially. I wish i had taken pictures, but the food was amazing! I got the shrimp tacos, which were huge! The shrimp was seasoned really well (just a little spicy, which I like) and there was a good balance with the cabbage and avocado. My husband got the shrimp poboy and side of andouille sausage. The Cadillac Margarita is like liquid crack. The old fashion was sweet, but the Knob Creek Rye toned it down. I have never really posted about this great seafood restaurant. Good seafood is hard to come by in Rockwall... so safe to say this place blew me out of the water with a couple of the dishes I ordered. My favorite by far was the tilapia. It was served fresh and covered in a creamy delicious sauce. The kabob was covered in the same sauce but wasn't as good. The chicken was dry and a little too charred for me. The other dish that blew me out of the water is the crab legs. The crab legs are served with bread. Both the bread and crab claws were gone quick as the flavors of the toast pair perfectly with the buttery and cheesy crab claw sauce! I stopped in on Monday afternoon. The restaurant was quiet and we were seated immediately. The restaurant is located right off the square we parked in the square and walked over. I highly recommend the crab claws and tilapia.
