Walking the pier is nice for only $1. BUT, I do not like that selected friends of the owner can get on the pier before it opens to the public and set up 9+ rods taking over the end of the pier for 9+ hours (the public is only allowed 2 rods per person). The 'friends' are also allowed to bring their own cooler full of beer, play loud music (all day), and piss off the side of the pier. I personally witnessed them catch regulated species (bluefish, flounder, etc...) and keep them under slot (only 10 inches or so) and way over limits 20+ (limit of 3/pp). They would fillet when they had several and then take them to the car in a zip lock bag. I mentioned this to the fishing pier staff and they said they were friends of the owner. Next is a complaint to SC Fish and Game. Do yourself a favor and head north a few miles to the Apache Pier to fish. read more

We learned that piers along the South Carolina coast are not municipally owner, but privately owned and operated like attractions. I don't blame them for building a pier with a restaurant and I don't blame them for charging $1 per person to walk out the pier. What I found a bit obnoxious was that the pier wasn't in as good a shape as municipal piers I've walked out on for free. So for that I give this experience a big ehhhh. read more

I just really love this pier. Is it part nostalgia? Yes. It isn't the newest pier, or really a super nice one, but its a good old one. If you fish, people seem to get a decent catch here. If the smell of fish guts bothers you, you will want to stay closer to the shop. If you're lucky with your timing, you will get there when the chum needs dumped and see a ton of sharks when they dump it! Over the years, I've seen people catch all sorts of fish and even a couple accidental turtles and rays. Its a pier that has a lot of experienced fishermen, so people are always willing to help you release something you didn't mean to catch or teach you a little bit about pier fishing if you're just there to watch others fish. read more

Considering this pier is privately owned and maintained, a dollar isn't bad to go out - especially if you want to fish for a while. The ticket is good for the entire day and is good for $1 in cash in the gift shop and restaurant if you spend $10. The pier is in good shape, the gift shop has some neat items and reasonable prices, it is well lit and CLEAN. read more

This place was pretty cool. It's $1 to go on it. You get a good walk, in a good breeze. It wasn't too crowded. You actually look like you are going through the restaurant to get to it, but it's actually the gift shop door. There are some good gifts, water, soda, beer and fishing pole rentals. I had a good time reading the "Year in Review 1985" book. The cashiers were nice. When you get out there you follow a path past another bar, where there is live music. The guy that day sounded pretty good. The bar was a full one too. It was likley connected the the restaurant. Another review in here mentionee that it is privately owned. If so, that is super cool because it was in good repair. I certainly did not mind paying the dollar. The view was nice. All of the pics below are off of this pier. It was one of my better experiences of my trip. I appreciated that I could use the entry pass all day until 11PM. I bought my entry at 3PM. I stayed about 2 hours. One thing I will always remember about this pier is that there was an older couple pushing a man, likely their son, in a wheelchair. He was seemingly non-verbal. The woman pushed him back and forth, seemingly hoping he would enjoy it. When he passed me I noticed his arms were covered in hospital tags, warnings for nurses. I will never forget how sad he looked eating. I really hope he is okay. I highly recommend this destination. read more

It costs $1 to enter the pier, but they let you access for free if you had dinner there. It's nice for a stroll and you can fish there. The pier doesn't really go very far out. I like pier 2 further south along the beach better. read more

First, it is $1 to go which isn't bad but there is no one to take the money so we ended up just going to the pier. Seems like a great place to fish based on the number of folks doing it but we were there for the walk and a photo op. We found the pier to be a bit older and could use some up keep but was ok. In terms of pictures, it was a great place to take pictures since you can see the beach line and wheel all in one shot. The bathroom was awful. It really needs to be upgraded and cleaned. We would come here again but this is an average pier with good views but needs some work for the bathroom and actual pier itself. read more

This place has a nice veiw but it is horrible for fishing we were told when when first came in that not to cast our lines out just to drop them in because they have a rock barrier all the way around the pier....ok first strike we started dropping our lines in and not even 4-5 off the pier we were getting snagged I have never lost so much tackle on one trip in the little amount of time being there strike number 2 strike 3 was we sat out here and when we werent getting snagged we werent even getting a bite For the price they charge is not worth it read more

Locals walk on pier for free and get half price ($4.00) on all day fishing pass. Be careful on left side of pier if fishing.. towards the front of the pier on the left there seems to be a giant rock or something under the water about 50 yards out that has taken many of my hooks and sinkers. There's a sink on the pier which is convenient for fishing. Need more spaces to sit as it fills up quickly during weekends. Nice place! read more

We were walking the boardwalk and wandered up to Pier 14. There is an attached gift shop (of course there is) and a restaurant. Admission to the pier was $1, so WHY NOT check it out, right? We had a great time. The weather was nice and the sunset was perfect for some photos of the beach and boardwalk. The pier is in good shape and the crowd was mostly fishermen and tourists. Since the entire town of Myrtle Beach seems to be based on mini-golf, seafood buffets and tacky gift shops, I think the only thing this pier is missing for a '5 star' rating is an attached mini-golf, with crashed airplane, jungle theme or pirate ship.. read more

I had a group of 40 and had called a week prior to make sure we had a table and was told we would. Some of us showed up an hour before and told us that it was too busy to sit everyone near each other. I counted almost 20 open tables and there was plenty of room for us to be seated. The pier looked nice from The Sky Wheel and I thought it'd be nice to take a walk over there and to the end of it, just for that nice breeze while the sun was shining down and very hot. Well.......we had to go through the gift shop and was told that if you want to walk out onto the pier, you had to pay a dollar! Hell, I live in NH and we never charge for anyone to walk on our wood to see the water. I was rather insulted, but opted to pay the dollar to do it. There was a man fishing at the end of the pier. There was a sign that asked people NOT TO BOTHER THE FISHERMAN, because we may stress them out as there are there to fish and relax. I will never go there again. While walking down the boardwalk, we saw the pier extending into the water and decided to venture to the end and maybe take a family picture. As we got close, we realized you had to walk through the gift shop to get to the actual pier. Okay, fine, I get it, try to increase foot traffic into the gift shop. We wandered around the small gift shop, looking at the (surprisingly) reasonably priced souvenirs. It was then that we noticed the giant red stop sign at the back of the store stating that it would be $1 per person to get onto the pier. Really?? Absolutely delicious lunch. Had the Crab legs & garlic butter with fries as well as the Fish tacos(the fries are amazing!) . Great deal on the crab legs. They also make Real Caesars for you fellow Canucks. Beautiful view and great service. Would highly recommend this spot! The gift shop attached to the pier had reasonably priced items but the worst customer service. The young lady at the checkout was VERY rude when asked to rewrap an item and had earlier charged me for something I did not buy. After making her aware that she made a mistake, she didn't even bother to apologize. Will never step foot in that shop again. read more

The pier had a wonderful view with 50 cent telescope views. The restraunt was spectacular. It had wonderful food that was priced good with the portions. The waitresses/ waiters were friendly and didn't screw around getting your food. read more
