Unfortunately, my S.O. and I were a very disappointed with the overall service of this restaurant. As for our experience, I know everyone has a different one, I had many complaints. I actually had to send my drink back (twice) as there were two very different bartenders that worked on 2 completely different standards. Which I understand this can happen, although there has to be some consistency in "nicer" restaurants. As for the "fine-dining", the appetizers were up to expectation however the dinner was below average. I ordered the "special" and received mashed potatoes with entirely too much sour cream alongside lamb that was cooked excellently although paired with a subpar sauce and my S. O. ordered the blackened cod over pasta. The cod was seasoned/cooked to perfection although the pasta cream sauce was bland, watered down and couldn't be eaten alone. Although most of the food presentation was good, I won't be going back to Pier 22. It's been a while since I've been but from the quality of their food, to their lack of communication, accommodations, and poor skills in the kitchen, I'm not sure how they are still open. I genuinely hope it was just an off day as it's been open for a while, but the $300 meal was a complete disappointment. Their osso bucco was pure disappointment as the whole thing was hard, crusty and legit cooked to the bone. Couldn't get it off the bone if I tried. I normally don't send food back, but it was completely inedible. After they made it again, I was told by the server, "different people different tastes." Lollll. No no. Different people, different expectations. If the bone isn't falling off the meat, it's not osso bucco. And when the gravy tastes like cold, sour sauce, you lost me completely. Pier 22, failed tonight miserably. Any positive feedbacks about it, I would love to hear. I can't see this being a normalcy. read more

The staff was super professional and helpful. The outside seating provides a beautiful view of the water especially during the sunset hours. The food was Ok...ordered the fish and chips (do not recommend), but some of the other dishes, like sushi, wasnt too bad. The drink selection is really good, as each selection provided a good amount of alcohol making it worth the price. My husband and I had high hopes for this restaurant. The reviews on the whole are pretty good and the photos and menu online look good. We went for Sunday brunch and the menu was much more limited than what I had seen online. My husband sent back his jambalaya as it only had one piece of sausage and a few pieces of chicken. The manager had them replate and the next bowl was fine. I am eating keto, so I asked for my steak omelet to have few of the caramelized onions and some crispy bacon instead of bread or potatoes on the side. I still had a lot of onions that were definitely not caramelized and nothing on the side. They did bring me a side of bacon when I asked about it. The steak was mostly okay but there were a couple of gristly pieces. Nice view, average service. We won't be back. read more

Since we are staying right across the street at the beautiful new Marriott I made reservations in advance. Walked over early to grab a drink for happy hour. James the manager met us at the door. We gave our names and he said we could sit at the bar for a long as we wanted our table would be ready when we are. We ordered the Balsamic chips and they were great, why don't you see more of these on other menus! Two drinks and James took us to the table. Perfect weather and a nice night. Our server was chad, he was a good server but no water was brought over or offered. Main entrees come and we dropped a star part of me thinks i am too nice and we should be at 3 stars. My wife's steak Diane was not good. Poor flavor and not an item I would recommend to anyone. My Wasabi tuna had good flavor but nowhere near warm. The dipping sauces were good. We shared a desert, the butter pie was absolutely fabulous. Over all great service and some good food but also some bad. read more

We've been coming here for about 3 years. We enjoy sitting outside on the patio and mostly come on Sunday afternoons. The location and view are great and the food is at least good. The clam chowder is always great. Unfortunately, the service has deteriorated this year. Previously, food would be delivered when ready by kitchen staff. Now all serving is done by the wait staff which means things can sit out for some time before delivery. The worst delay today was the draft beer delivered at least 15 minutes after it was ordered and was flat. We no longer see managers in the dining room and when I asked, I was told no manager was available to talk to me. Another unwelcome change is the addition of valet parking. The entire back lot and the closest spots were behind cones, but there seemed to be less than 10 cars parked in that area. read more

We discovered Pier 22 this past spring and enjoyed the outdoor patio dining almost every weekend for the 3+ months that we were in the area. We're back for the winter and couldn't wait to return...only to discover that this place is a gigantic petri dish for Covid. Not a single mask on a single patron; zero attempt at distancing (one unmasked woman was literally just inches from my face when I turned around after speaking with the hostess); and no care or concern whatsoever from management for patrons or the restaurant's poor employees. We'd been excited to make Pier 22 a weekly dinner (and partake in their Wines Around the World nights), but when a restaurant is so concerned with profits over common sense, and so unconcerned for our health, we simply can't ever return here in good conscience. Not to mention, with this little regard for basic safety precautions against a deadly global pandemic, I can't help but wonder what health & safety regulations are being ignored in the kitchen... (And yes, I realize that neither state nor local regulations in FL requires masks, but every other restaurant we've visited still mandates masks and distancing anyway to protect their patrons and employees. Pier 22 just doesn't care.) Sad! read more

The happy hour specials are really good. I had the calamari which came with a really good mustard sauce. I also ordered the mussels which had a good sauce but were rather small. My sister ordered the grouper sandwich and really enjoyed it. The view is amazing and the atmosphere is nice. It is located on the downtown Bradenton waterfront area and super convenient to Manatee Memorial Hospital, which is how I found it. Next time I will sit in the outside area if it is not so hot. I'll be back again for happy hour the next time I am in Bradenton visiting my Dad. read more

I was very excited to eat here, since the menu looked great and the view cannot be beat. But when they sat us at a high top next to the water and we watched every table of 4 or more receive waters and cocktails as we were IGNORED by the waters edge for 25 min, even a great view couldn't fix that. 2 stars for view only. Service for 2 people by water was terrible. I ordered grilled grouper with wok veggies and sticky rice and entire plate was flavorless and dry...not even salt and pepper or a simple ponzu on the side. How could a chef put out a plate of food with zero flavor? Wake up guys..theres another seafood place on every corner. The water view won't save you forever. How bout tasting what you're putting out? How bout making sure your servers cater to two tops and not just larger groups? We happen to be generous tippers, probably more generous than the couple with 3 kids next to us. This old downtown pier restaurant and patio has an excellent view of the Manatee River, and is great for watching the sunset, away from the beach crowd. A popular hangout for local civic leaders, lawyers, businessmen and busybodies. The two bars are classy, and attract a upscale clientele. The chefs have prepared some very interesting items for your lunch or dinner [after 4pm]. The food quality is excellent, the table chatter is friendly and the waiters are on the ball. A great place for a birthday celebration or for a romantic special meal. They serve a special Sunday lunch also. This is the place to enjoy a delicious meal in the downtown area. read more

I live in Tampa, but have some friends in Bradenton, and we ended up here for dinner one night before going to a show at the Manatee Performing Arts Center. Obviously, the view is amazing. So that makes it a go-to spot downtown, being right on the water. And while we initially chose Pier 22 because of it's location, our experience beyond that was just as great. We showed up at 5:30pm on a Saturday with a group of 7 people and no reservation, and they immediately were able to accommodate us outside. We were also on a time crunch, which proved to be no challenge as the food came out super quick. There was an extensive menu that had something for everyone in our party- and even a pretty good happy hour menu with small plates and $2 draft beer and $4 sangria. But what really took this place to 5 stars for me was the variety of gluten free options available. Our waitress (who has celiac) explained that the head chef's wife also has celiac, and so he built a menu that was catered towards her. A lot of their "regular" dishes (like crab cakes) are automatically made to be gluten free, all dressings are gluten free, they have gluten free pizza crust and sandwich buns. I got the Verde pizza on it the GF crust and it was probably the best I've had. Our waitress told me later that they have a really good gluten free bread basket that you can request- I did not have any of it, but if it's as good as their pizza crust then I look forward to trying it. Pier 22 will now be my go-to spot when we're down in Bradenton visiting our friends. Can't wait to come back and try more off the menu! read more

For those that can't eat wheat- they have gluten free bread! The butter spread they serve with the bread is amazing. During happy hour they offer a limited reduced food menu with gluten free pizza! Just ask for the gluten free options. They bake their own bread and make their own ice cream. A nice atmosphere for families but also a great atmosphere for dates. read more

We love eating here but have to say the corned beef and cabbage meal on St Patrick's day was AWFUL...the first really bad meal we've had here in four years so will give the chef a pass on this one..our thinking is that he had no idea how to make it...you cannot upscale a comfort meal like this and make it taste anything like it's supposed to!! read more

Pros: Location/View. It's right on the water. Ambience: I like the decor. The place is pretty big and has all types of seating in several rooms. And I love their aquariums. The patio seating area/view is nice. Cons: The food is...meh. The drinks aren't consistently good The service is not usually great. I usually have to flag someone done whether it's busy or not. We just ordered from Pier22 for Mother's Day lunch, a special meal of prime rib. It was exquisite. And I am not ready to please. it was tender, juicy, cooked to perfection ! The rolls were good,the butter too( not sweet), the salad and its dressing excellent,the potatoes very nice, the green beans not cooked enough but that's a restaurant problem,lol.Then the chocolate pie was delicious, real taste of chocolate,not coco powder. Overall, a good experience. We were 'lucky' to get a parking space. Patrons were parked in a center grass median. We went mid-week, at 1:00p in Jan. It wasn't crowed at arrival, but seems to pick up by 2:00p, which is kind of odd. Service was a bit slow considering the aforementioned. Personally, I don't like when your server takes your order, and then someone else brings your food to the table and has to ask who gets what. That's not fine dining. We had the grouper sandwich which was $23, and overpriced for the size of fish chunks, not a solid piece of fish. The bun overwhelmed the fish portion. It was prepared perfectly, and was fresh and delicious. I had the side salad, which was good, but drenched in dressing. Coleslaw was served with the other sandwich, which was good. Beverages were iced coffee, and one glass of wine, and our bill with $10 tip was $70. Ambiance was delightful, but way over priced. We prefer Riviera Dockside, where the grouper sandwich is a decent chunk of fish and $18 (just checked price before I posted this). Pier 22 is a nice establishment, but since it's difficult to get to, and parking is typically a major problem, and it's over-priced, we won't be going back. read more

Wow. 5 star experience! Our waitress was truly phenomenal. She was friendly, patient, attentive, and was on those drink/bread refills. I tried the salmon slightly blackened with mash potatoes and mushrooms. The waitress was amazing and offered me a small sample of the mushroom because I wasn't sure if I would like it. The mushrooms had a juicy flavor and were dang good for mushrooms. The salmon tasted fresh but doesn't come with any sauce. The waitress heard my concern and suggested a butter sauce to put on top. This was the perfect solution and made the dish perfect. The mashed potatoes I will admit were not my favorite. I felt like they needed gravy or cheese or seasoning. I would order sticky rice next time instead of the mashed potatoes. The bread is delicious and the butter that goes with it is amazing. The atmosphere is relaxing, cozy, and has a nice dinner feel. I could totally see this as a perfect date night spot for couples. 5 stars!!! read more

Man on Man, go for their Happy Hour. They have an excellent Margherita Pizza. It is one of the best. Other happy hour good deals are the Spring Rolls and the Braised Ribs. One of my favorite salads of just about anywhere similar to a wedge salad is their 1776 Salad. Yes, and one last item that I would recommend would be the Baked Onion Soup. The pizza and salad or soup and salad is more than enough for a meal. I am stuff before leaving. read more
