We celebrated thanksgiving here. Party of 5. Got seated early. Staff was dressed in spirit. Everyone was super friendly even with how busy it was they held it together. Food options were plentiful. From regular menu to traditional thanks dinner left everyone happy. Dessert choices were plenty and worth every bite also. Value was good. Views of water seemed available for all tables. Place was crowded(that's usually a good sign) but not this time. They bring way to big of plates to put on a small table. The waitress maybe not trained correctly or doesn't care. Not sure. Asked for sugar for the tea. She said sure then never seen her again. Someone else brought out the food. I had the wasabi tuna. Terrible. Absolutely no flavor. The paper straws would of been better to eat then my meal. I believe this place to be way over priced for the quality you get. The other thing, I noticed that they allowed a German Shepard in the restaurant. This was not a service dog. It had no visible sign stating that it was a service dog. It was a young couple. I never have a problem with people and service dogs . They need them and I get that. But this wasn't and that, I have a problem with. Especially paying the prices that we paid. We went with another couple for an early Sunday dinner. The hostess seated us right by the railing on the water which was great. Two in our party had the Scampi Florentine, and both loved it. I had a bit myself and it was excellent. I ordered the Seafood Cobb - it was tasty and probably the best cobb salad I ever had. Service was excellent, as always. We live in Lakewood Ranch but this is our go-to restaurant. Love this place. read more

This is a cool restaurant on the water. If you sit on the patio, it's beautiful! The food was meh. I'd you go, enjoy the view and atmosphere - but it won't be the best meal you've ever had. Was strange when they bus the tables outside, the bus it just tosses the left over drinks on the patio and the server was wringing out the towel to clean the table on the ground. Seems strange. Made the place feel grungy. Also bloody Mary's are on "happy hour" special all day on Sunday. We were excited to order one and when we tasted them, they tasted like cocktail sauce. Oh well read more

This review is overdue! My wife and I had lunch a few weeks ago and it was one of the best dining experiences we've had in a long time thanks to the delicious food and fantastic service! We shared the Ahi Tuna nachos. The tuna tasted fresh, the chips were crisp, not stale, and the dish was so tasty. We shared a main of the seafood cobb, and again the fish was fresh and delicious. I love cobb salad and this was one of the best. To top it all off we had a server who was one of the best we've had. Her name was Kelly G and she was attentive, friendly and made sure we had what we needed. Water getting low? She was there before we had to ask. Her recommendation on the food was spot on and it would be hard to beat the smile on her face. I hate waiting for the check, but when we were done she gave it to us and told us to take our time. I know how hard servers work and they rely on tips, so I made sure the tip was in line with the service. Thanks Kelly! The only issue was the hostess, who appeared to be more interested in talking with the other hostess (I think) than seating us when we got there. I finally had to rhetorically ask if they had any tables. Overall a wonderful dining experience in a beautiful waterside setting with great food and excellent service! Well done Pier 22!! read more

Pier 22 was great! Great service, food, drinks, location. We had reservations outside for a chilly night and they saved us a spot on the heated patio. We loved the monte cristo appetizer, although some more jam would have been nice. We will definitely be back! read more

Macadamia shrimp is good but at $3.50 per shrimp it's a little expensive at $14.00 they could have thrown more in. Blackened salmon Caesar is relatively great! We were however told we couldn't sit outside by the water due to availability and there were tables available out there during our entire visit. Wait staff is excellent. read more

Pier 22 is one of our favorite restaurants not just in Bradenton, but in the greater Manatee-Sarasota area, and Florida itself. While we live right here in Bradenton, it always feel like we're doing something special when we go for several reasons: the staff, the view, and the food. The staff, first of all, is always friendly and helpful. I've had nothing but good customer service there in the many times I've dined there. They always have good recommendations for what to order as well, which is helpful if you're a regular. Second, the view is top notch as they're located right on the Manatee River. You can watch the boats go by, or try to look for wildlife lurking under the water. Third, the food is just delicious. I've had some of the staple menu items, like the decadent grouper Piccata and the Asian-inspired Wasabi Tuna, which was cooked just right. The cocktails are also great, my favorite being the Ruby-tini, which is super refreshing on a hot night. Tonight we ordered the Aquarium Boat, a sushi boat with everything from standard California and Philadelphia rolls to some bomb tuna ngiri. The texture of the rice was just right, so the structural integrity of the rolls held up when you picked them up. The presentation was perfect - see photo. For this kind of dining, the price is totally reasonable, if not a little lower than what you would pay for this in, say, Sarasota. And during the off-season, we just roll in and get the best seats in the house. Did I mention the happy hour menu is totally decent? We'll definitely keep going back. read more

We have been a regular at Pier 22 for more than five years. We usually go by boat when the weather permits. I have had many of their menu selections and they have all been outstanding! We have always had friendly, knowledgeable servers and the wait time has been more than reasonable. The prices are very good considering the food quality. I look forward to my next visit! read more

I ordered my Thanksgiving dinner from the Grove and mistakingly arrived to pick it up from Pier 22 instead. A wonderful young lady understood the problem right away - checked my paper order - and arranged for me to get my dinner right there from Pier 22! It would have been so easy for her to send me to the correct restaurant and be done with it - but she took the effort to accommodate me and see that I got my meal right there! She even called the Grove and told them not to expect me. I couldn't have asked for more gracious service - this young lady made my Thanksgiving and I didn't even get her name! (But she was out there running things between 11 AM and noon.). I hope this restaurant knows what as GREAT staff member they have in this young lady!! read more

Another update: I returned to Pier 22 and had an excellent experience. The food was great (the fish tacos were delicious; the sushi was very good but the rolls were rather small). The margarita I had was also very tasty. Our waiter, Chaddy, was extremely courteous and very responsive. We sat inside, and although we didn't have a view of the water or the pretty lights, the atmosphere inside is very nice and relaxing (I was glad we were inside because it was so hot and humid outside). I hope to return to Pier 22 in the future and try other items on the menu. read more

I've always heard good things about the restaurant and decided to go. The atmosphere was good the food wasn't. I ordered a old fashioned and it was probably the worst I've ever had. It tasted like the only thing it it was small amount whisky and a lot of water. The food was no better. The Caesar salads had no flavor. The lamb was charred and said it came with a mint sauce, Not sure where that was. The key lime pie was pretty good except there was more crust than pie. Needless to say I would not return for the food or drinks. However the staff was amazing and accommodating. They were very professional and great with our kids. read more

I am sad to give such a bad review but I have to be honest. Our meal started with the "grouper" gratin. It was fishy and did not taste like grouper at all. Then our entrees...I had the scallops, they were very small and had very little sauce on them. The rice was bland, I subbed Brussels sprouts & they were meh. My husband had the fish and chips and said they were ok, the coleslaw wasn't great. We told our server Carley (who was barely present during our entire meal) that we would like to order dessert she brought over the menu and then proceeded to talk to the table next to us about how horrible it was to work there for a solid 5 minutes. While I always look forward to dining here when in town, tonight was a total miss. My server was sweet but mostly invisible. I don't know how many employees passed up an empty water glass. Basics right??? I may have ordered wrong, but sushi was horribly presented and no sauce or garnishments. Thrown on plate without evening lining them up. The woorrsssttttt! The low reviews are real! I saw the low reviews but was like what the heck let me try it, maybe I'll have a good experience. I will never do that again! Such a shame that nice looking place with amazing views has such horrible mediocre food. BLAH! The food is horrible. No taste, very bland. Not to mention dirty dishes and cups!!! The good reviews on this restaurant are very suspicious or they just don't have taste and don't know a good restaurant because Pier 22 was definitely not a good restaurant. I was nervous that I would have food poisoning after having lunch. I didn't thank goodness. I only thought that because what I ordered that was supposed to be chilled, was warm like it was sitting for a while. :-( not good ! Our waitress with the letter M was not really on top of her game either. The hostesses were great, got us a table fairly quickly. Do not waste your money here though! And the surrounding restaurants when I checked the reviews were not any better, was just about the same. Crème brûlée had no taste what's so ever! I mean I can go on and on and on. Chef and manager Greg C is it? Do better! Or are you just making a buck of off people. I couldn't believe that the dining area was full and booked with reservations for the night and we couldn't sit in the dining area because of it being fully booked. How???!!!! The food is not good! I notice a Claudia responding to the bad reviews asking for the reviewer to give them another chance for a better experience, No thank you. You can contact me to apologize for the horrible experience because what I really wanted to do was get the whole meal comped but I didn't want to make a scene with my parents. What I would like for you to do Claudia is get that staff properly trained and get a better chef. The outside Terrace on the Manatee River at Pier 22 is always a comfortable scenic stop. You can always count on a few visits from dolphins and pelicans. And the food is quite good as well. A comfortable American menu, well prepared and tasty is the norm. One of the best things about Pier 22 is the service. We were lucky some years ago to find Lynn Johnson one of their head servers. Lynn always takes wonderful care of us and makes sure our food is timely and good. If you go be sure to ask for Lynn Johnson. read more
