This past weekend I experienced Pier 62 Skate Park for the first time while volunteering with Play if Forward. They are an incredible organization that hosts adaptive sporting events for those with disabilities. Pier 62 Skate Park is pretty spectacular, featuring several massive skate bowls and a multitude ramps of while providing awesome views of the hudson. Even if you don't skate or have the opportunity to volunteer at a similar event, this park is perfect for people watching and just taking in the action. Pier 62 Skate Park is so cool. I've been here and taken a couple photos of the guys with their skateboards. I had no idea there was a business page. I love this area of Chelsea Piers. I'm definitely going back to try to get more photos. Skateboarding action photos are fun. It's fun to watch. Can you believe when I was in middle school and high school I had a skateboard. My first one was handmade out of wood using roller skate wheels. Am I Old or what!? I recommend you bring your skateboard and go to Pier 62 to have fun. read more

Cool skateboard park located down by Chelsea Piers. It's a good size, and set up really well for skate heads looking to practice their tricks and skills. The concrete is smooth, and it's a well kept park. Plenty of ledges, wedges, and rails to utilize. Come get your shred on and show off. Free to the public. read more

Great round wall destination, if you want street go to LES, Cooper, Maloof, Astoria, down the river, anywhere but here. There are some ledges and a rail but trust me only come here if you skate street because you don't want to miss the bus, you are better served at any other park in the city and there are at least 12. This is a very intermediate level park with a ton of features and cool locals so long as you aren't a douche. Closes when it gets dark or maybe 8pm in the winter? I can't remember. Over verty pockets, sweet steep af snake run pool area, trumps cock and balls for the pool one of the balls are 8' the other looks about 12' with a 6' half pipe section for the weeinis. There's a sweet roll in into the snakerun that throws you into the pyramid section. There's some old school pool action on top of that pyramid that has a roll out option to the upper deck. My kid is obsessed with skating. This skatepark is like none other. Something for everyone. Good people looking out for each other. Some pot smoking happening but in one corner so for parents I wouldn't worry about it. Serious skating read more

Helllloooo transition! Hips, bowls, snake runs... What else can u ask for? This isn't a street spot (for that, skate on down to Tribeca.. it's also off the west side highway path a bit south of canal street) but they have 2 ledges, but u gotta hit them and keep it moving, or another ripper will end up landing on u! I've been coming here since it opened! Broke my wrist the first time I skated it, still keep goin back! This spot is built by California Skateparks and it's awesome! Definitely not a beginner spot! This spot is also not a place for spectators to go inside and watch (there's a sign outside the park that says no spectators). Yea, that ledge you are sitting on... that's a skate obstacle. People wanna nose grind, 5-0 grind, flip trick every way possible in and outta that thing... So if u wanna watch, keep it outside the barred fence! Sure, most skater's won't tell you that you're being a dick, they'll just make fun of you or talk shit about u with ur friends. I might say something though ;) but really, I might! If u gotta be in there when there's people skatin, at least stand by the fence! Also, watch out for flying boards. If u get hit, it's your fault for not being fully aware. I've caught flying boards while I skate, so deal with it! read more

My favorite place to skate in NYC. Always a solid crew skating here. Great flow section, nice bowl with pool coping. The coping in the shallow end is REALLY chunky so you really need to plow through it. Say hello to the Chelsea Pier 62 Football Team when you're there. read more

Great skatepark by the water, you can even see the Empire State Bldg as you session. Smooth concrete, clean and well kept. Too intense for beginners though, without much flat open space. I'd say this park is most suitable for experienced to pro level skaters. Close to other family attractions nearby. read more

Awesome spot to skate or watch in NYC. Growing up in SoCal we had skate parks in nearly every neighborhood, but they come a little more few and far between in NYC. This one is a little taste of home being so close to the water. Nice vibe, good kids and lots of talent here. read more

Beefy the Bulldog loves to skateboard! What he really loves to skate are half pipes and ramps.... This park has plenty of that. Whether it's dropping in or riding fakie... Beefy get's his skate on at Pier 62. The skatepark is set on the Hudson river and has a good breeze. The staff is helpful and it opens at 8am. I suggest getting there as early as possible to get the park to yourself. read more
