I wasn't really quite sure what to expect out of pier 8 but had been intrigued and wanted to try. Came away decently impressed and I will go back and try some other things. I'm a big fan of po boys and gave the shrimp po boy a try. I was impressed with the fried shrimp - a nice light batter and a good fry. The sandwich could have used a little more sauce and lettuce for the amount of bread, but I did enjoy it. My friend tried the Wednesday special - head off shrimp and snow crab legs. You get to choose the sauce and the spice level. It's a good amount of food and it all tasted really good. And we thoroughly enjoyed mopping up some leftover sauce with some fries :) I was hesitant on how good the boil would be here in Utah, but my friend's was good enough that I would go back and try it. read more

Came here with a friend for dinner and it was both our first time trying it out. The restaurant is inviting, clean, and spacious. The hostess was kind and welcomed us when we arrived. Our waitress, Lindsey, was nice but didn't seem to know the answers to many of our questions about the menu, virgin drinks, etc. there was a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't think so." Blake, the manager, checked on us throughout and was very accommodating. He made me a tasty virgin mojito. For my boil, I did head off shrimp, clams, and sausage. They added crab legs for $1 since we spent more than $50. I did the House special sauce and spicy. Wow, the spicy was very hot! I think next time I would do mild because the spicy (which was the medium) wasn't a medium heat. However, it did have good flavor and all the seafood was really tasty. I didn't care for the sausage, I wouldn't get that next time. It was too thin and it was dry. I only had two potatoes in my boil as well. Wish there was at least three. We also asked for extra sauce and was charged for that (without a notice). I appreciated the complimentary cheesecake for my birthday! That was very nice. Overall, good experience with tasty food. For a seafood buffet in Utah, this was fantastic. They have warm, cold and Cajun options along with made to order sushi. There was some chicken and other foods, but seafood is the focus. Staff was super friendly and it was well priced. We will be going back! Watch out for the king crab though it has some sharp spines! It sure was tasty though. read more

I gave it 2 star. This place used to be a seafood boil place. And for a land lock state, it was decent and I came back a few times. Today, I walked in and did not recognize the place. Its now an all you can eat buffet. Our server was fantastic. I tried their sizzling beef and pork stick and asked for spicy and our server warned us it was going to be spicy. I said yeah its ok I like spicy. But no one could have prepared me for when those two things made it to my table. First off, my pork stick was a size of a baby finger just the nail part. And the spicy? That was horrendous it had no taste at all. We ordered sushi as well and that did not taste right either. The buffet part is all you can expect from every Chinese buffet. Nothing special, some are bland and some are the same taste from every Chinese buffet ive gone too. The place stayed the same, the decoration and the layout of the place still looks the same. The service was horrendos. I sat for 10 minutes the waiter visited the table in front of me at least twice before acknowledging me. I used to be in the industry and I know if you look certain way or dress cero way you will be mistreated. This restaurant was absolutely amazing in every way. It's brand spanking new, so it looked great inside and it felt really clean. The food was amazing! We tried the Dungeness Crab Special which had an entire crab, a pound of shrimp, a pound of kielbasa sausage and 2 hard boiled eggs. The Cajun seasoning was delicious! We also ordered a custom combo to try the black mussels and the lobster, both fantastic. We spent $100 for dinner after all was said and done, but for 2 seafood fans we say it was worth it! read more

The look and style of the restaurant is fun and colorful, while the overall ambiance of it all felt as if you were on a pier by the ocean, in the middle of Utah. It was excellently decorated and very inviting. The service was top notch, with our waitress and host being extremely friendly, while making sure that our experience was great. They made sure the food came out quickly and were checking up on us to ensure it was good to our liking. Very professional and great people! The food was great as well! It's hard to find a good seafood place in a land locked state, but these guys made it taste great. We started out with the "Combo Appetizer" that had hush puppies, calamari, and fried oysters. All of which were good! We decided to just have desert with our main course, so we chose the beignets which where soft and flaky. Very good as well. My wife ordered the "Cajun Chicken Alfredo" which she said was nice and I ordered the "Po boy fried catfish sandwich" which I thought was delicious! Of course, we had to order try out the "Seafood Combo," so we order the crawfish. I am glad to say that did not disappoint as the crawfish were delicious and were enormous! For the longest time this place was amazing. The seafood boils tasted great and it was all just an amazingly unique place in Utah valley. My wife and I went again today and it's just a crappy Chinese buffet now that charges $35 a person. I cannot justify the tiny portion I got with the cost. I ordered crab and lobster in a seafood boil, supposedly 1/2 pound each. I got one lobster tail and half of a medium sized crab. The dish comes with potatoes and corn on the cob. I got one piece of corn on the cob and two tiny potatoes. That dish was about $40 and I left hungry. I do NOT recommend this restaurant. I tried, I really did, but there just wasn't anything good I can say about it. The seafood was the worst I've ever had anywhere. The King crab legs were soaked in a solution that made the meat taste terrible. The clarified butter they keep in a thermos was lukewarm. The cooked oysters were cold. The horseradish in the cocktail sauce almost burned my tongue off. The rest of the meager seafood was drenched in Cajun sauce. Then 3/4 of the remaining food was a cheap Chinese buffet of poor quality. The price they charge for an adult dinner was so not worth it. I would not recommend this place at all. I just got home and have the nastiest taste in my mouth. It's only a buffet now and it was not tasteful at all. They should be embarrassed they call their salad bar a salad bar. Paid 70$ for 2 buffets and it was such a waste of money. No wonder you see one car in the parking lot lol. There was no way I was going to leave a tip when all we got was a water offered to us and no one came back to check on us until we asked for the bill. I just moved to Utah last year and I was disappointed there really wasn't much Cajun style food besides kickin seafood. But when pier 8 opened I was so ecstatic! I love crawfish and my three year old does too. We usually just order 1-2lb of crawfish and create our own boil and it tastes amazing each time. Crimes Against Gasatronomy: The ambiance was acceptable, the waitstaff were attentive and as helpful as they could be under the circumstance. The food was awful beyond belief. The fried lobster tail MAY have contained an ounce of meat, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it. The french fries were breaded (why!?). Everything was disgustingly greasy, and the condiments were lackluster at best (Kraft Tartar Sauce and Arctic Circle Fry Sauce, I suspect). I hope the conscientious staff soon find jobs at a better place. Pier 8 screams 'mismanagement'. read more
