We wanted hotpot for dinner. Hotpot was in their name. When we looked at the menu, we didn't see "hotpot" on the menu. Since it wasn't on the menu, we decided to do takeout. My wife wanted the pork belly pho, which didn't make sense to me. I wasn't sure what I wanted because I wasn't sure what they specialized in and wanted to hear them speak before ordering. When I heard the hostess/waitress speak to me in Mandarin after entering the restaurant, I immediately knew I would order their beef noodle soup. After waiting a few minutes, I paid and left with my food. The noodles were better than I expected for the Orem area. My wife enjoyed her pork belly pho. It was more of a Chinese pork belly rice noodle than a pho like at a Vietnamese restaurant. My beef noodle soup was a hearty beefy bowl of noodles. Both of the noodle soups were perfect for a cold night. The price was very reasonable, cheaper than anything I can get in California. It was a good meal. Been to this location before, but was a different management and it was a Chinese and dim sum place. Decided to come here again (obviously new management and a different restaurant) and I don't think we will ever come back! The service is one of the worst experiences we've ever had. On a Friday night, we were 1 of 2 tables (who came in after 8pm), and the place was empty (besides a private party in the private dining room). One server for the whole restaurant. When our order was taken, we only ordered 2 items: veg fried rice and salt and pepper prawns . When the salt and pepper prawns came out, it was served with no shell and fully battered(covered). The server did not ask me if I wanted it with or without shell - I assumed it was going to be with shell (as I pointed to the menu where the picture was, displayed with shell on. So we had to wait for another 10-15 minutes to get that order to come out. The shrimp they used was mushy on the inside, a bit gray colored (towards the tail, on the inside), and they used too much cornstarch for the breading - so it wasn't as crispy as expected. Trust me, I've had my share of salt and pepper shrimp (with shell on) and this was probably the worst I've had. I had to get up a few times to ask for: utensils, a Diet Coke, and boxes to go for our food. The only reason is I'm giving this place 2/5 stars (instead of 1) is because the veggie fried rice was decent. But over all, service, with the prices they charge, for MEH Chinese - you can get better quality Chinese at Feast Buffet or King Buffet - and those places do salt and pepper shrimp the right way! read more

This is an excellent restaurant. I love Asian food in general and Chinese food was my gateway drug so it will always be my favorite. My daughter found this spot and loved it and took us there when we came for a visit. I'm really glad she did because the name leads you to believe that they focus primarily on hot pot. I like hot pot but have had mixed experiences with it. As it turned out, hot pot is not the primary offering here and all of the dishes we tried were fresh, well prepared and fantastic in general. The restaurant is clean and the employees mostly friendly and helpful. We ordered a spread so it 's hard to cover it all in a short review but there were no weak spots. We had chow mein, sweet & sour chicken, dumplings, sesame chicken & several other dishes, including at least one we'd never heard of or tried before that was very good. I wish I could remember the name. The only bad part was I specifically ordered the chow mein with no onions. I don't hate onions but learned a lot time ago that they often overwhelm the flavor in that dish. When it arrived, it had onions in it. I pointed this out and the server acted like he wanted me to just deal with it. The cost of eating out is so high right now that I will not do that. I expect to get what I order, particularly when I clearly explain myself. I had to be a little more emphatic with him, which made my daughter a little uncomfortable and detracted from teh overall experience but I'm pretty firm about this with costs being what they are. Pretty impressive and authentic Chinese food in Provo/Orem! At places like this, if you aren't Chinese, bring a Chinese person haha. You have to know what to get, and we chose a bunch of different dishes that all turned out pretty yummy! We got the cumin lamb, tomato egg, green beans, braised pork belly, scallion pancakes, chicken fried rice, and stir fried pho! I thought they were all what I was expecting, and I'd definitely come back to try more of their dishes. The friends I brought only had good things to say about the food. And in the end it came out to $20/person (after tip) for the 6 of us eating family-style, not bad for all the food we got. Portions were a good size. We were the only people there on a Monday night, so service was pretty quick. And the boss lady was also very kind. Sad I didn't get any photos (next time :) ). This is one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had - if not, the worst. The owner is sweet. She's very passionate about what she does but it is clear that the restaurant business is not something she should be doing. The food was absolutely disgusting. No flavor. Full of fat. The veggie selection for the hot pot was so sad. The veggies were limp, some were brown, and who knows how long they had been sitting out improperly for. There was nothing keeping them cold. You had to make your own sauce. The menu had hardly any options of meat (only one beef option). The broth didn't have any explanation of the flavors and tasted like spicy dish water. The microwave was constantly going off in the kitchen. Nothing seemed fresh whatsoever. Nothing about this restaurant was good. It was the worst food I think I've ever had at a restaurant in my entire life. Multiple people in our party got sick from the food. Huge menu for restaurant side and hot pot side as well. The Yelp page does not have enough space to put in all the pics of the extensive menu. Mandarin speaker so I was able to communicate very little. The first thing I look for in a northern Chinese menu is their dishes that have lamb. They did have a couple of dishes from which I could order from. Typical of northern Chinese dishes, it was spicy with peppers, oh so good but in moderation. The only downside to the lamb dish is it was the shaved lamb that was used on the hot pot side, I would have preferred lamb slices. I still can't complain because the dish was so good. The other classic item I wanted to try was the braised pork belly. I can honestly say, you will not get a true northern Chinese experience if you do not order this classic dish. For me the service was fantastic, once the waitress took my orders, the food came out fairly promptly and I was left to enjoy the wonderful food without having a wait staff coming to bug you if everything was okay, that's confidence, they knew their dishes were great. When we came here last, they were having a little raffle and we won a prize for free golden buns so we had to come back. Decided to try something different and have no regrets. Added some chili oil on the side and it was really good. Serving sizes are pretty large. Have left overs for lunch tomorrow. Staff here are super nice and do a good job of checking in on you. Food was authentic and menu was super extensive. We had the Mongolian Beef lunch with hot and sour soup. Nice level of heat to both of them. We also had the vegetable fried rice which was nicely seasoned but could have used some more vegetables and egg. Also enjoyed a crispy spring roll. Everything was served hot and fresh. We tried this place after reading the reviews, sorry to say! We will not be going back. The so called fried rice tastes as if it has soap in it, I believe they have stock in onions because they totally over powered any dish we had. Service was okay, for not having really anyone in the restaurant (only one other family) didn't seem to be on top of things. I was truly hoping this was going to be our go to place for Chinese food, we will continue to search. I would not recommend this place. Only positive it was open on Sunday. read more

Great food and in a nice building. I was in the area on travel and looking for Chinese food. I chose Brothers Hotpot based on other reviews here. A key distinction is authentic Chinese vs American Chinese food. Again, the food and the service were great, and the food was definitely authentic Chinese, but the server did not understand English, so I relied on the extensive menu photos. (The menu selection is enormous!) The server did not understand my request for egg rolls till I Googled a picture. The chef was quite gracious in coming out to let me know they did not have egg rolls. Also, after I received my entree, I did have to wait a few more minutes for silverware. We visited for our date night and were trying to find something yummy but affordable. The food was good but SO overpriced. We ended up paying $60 for rice, sweet and sour chicken, teriyaki chicken, and wontons (no drinks or additional sides) and we almost had a heart attack when they brought the check out. The service was okay, but it was hard to get anyone's attention. Our appetizer also didn't come out until 10 minutes after we had already finished the rest of our food. When you go to a Chinese restaurant and the menu has real pictures of the dishes, you know this restaurant has authentic Chinese food. I was visiting Provo, and was very excited when I found this restaurant online by just looking at menu and the pictures. I brought a group of American friends over as well. All of us were so happy with every single dish. So delicious. Even exceeded my already high expectations. I was very impressed with the quality of the food, and the variety. Through conversation with the server, I learned that they were from New York, and the chef was from Sichuan China originally, which I think explains the authenticity of the food. They just opened over a week ago and I even got a 25% discount. They will have hotpot soon. I am picky on the Chinese food, so are a couple other ones in the group. But we all agree this restaurant deserves a 5, or 5+ star rating. It will be your huge loss if you are in town, but not trying out this restaurant. This is a must go. Enjoy. The food here is Xian Chinese food. It is so tasty and well priced for the portions. The gentleman that takes orders is friend and very hard working. If you want the hot pot scan the QR code for that menu. I would highly recommend giving this place a try. We came down from Idaho for a Doctor's appointment in Orem. We saw Brothers Hotpot with the welcoming flags waving outside and stopped in for an early dinner. We were seated immediately facing a window with a view of the mountains. The ladies who served us were great. We were even treated to a free herbal Tea. The food was excellent. I ordered the chicken and broccoli which had a subtle hint of heat. The best Chinese we have had in a very long time. We will stop in when we have our next appointment. A Great find. read more
