Our food was wonderful and so was our bartender /server! I didn't catch their name, but they were fabulous and was working so hard to try to please everyone at the bar who were ordering drinks and food, plus another table outside of the bar. They had a lot on their plate and the restaurant was short staffed. There was four in our party and they forgot to put in 2 of the food orders. We weren't mad at all, we were drinking and having fun anyway! We told them not to worry about it and to just bring it when it was ready. A few minutes later we see the manager/owner someone come out and scream in their face in front of the entire bar about the food. This was so unprofessional and uncalled for. It made us all so sad to see someone so hard get screamed at over a small mistake when they were managing such a major part of the restaurant alone! Unfortunately was not a good experience for the entire party of 5 I was with. Service was not friendly or attentive. Asked for a spoon for the crab bisque and never got it , never checked on us during the course of the meal, fish was not good or warm, I ordered the shrimp and grits - it was good but the grits were not warm. I dined here solo on a Sunday night on Labor Day. The best part about this place was the very talented musician who was singing and playing, not one, not two, but three different instruments. I wish I could've stayed just to hear him play. I sat at the bar because I didn't want to take up a whole table since I was flying solo. The crab bisque was good, but I felt that my seafood pasta was a bit overpriced and could've been better. It was tasty but I strongly recommend if you're going to put shrimp with tails on in a pasta, lay them on top so they're easy to fine and the tails can be removed. In all my life, I've only met one person who actually likes to eat the tails of a shrimp. Also, better care could be taken when cleaning crabs because both my soup and the crab meat in my pasta had crab shells in it. I also felt like the bartender was ignoring me. He had a conversation with the elderly couple next to me and pretty much ignored me. Oh well. It looks like a nice place, but if they're going to complete with the places that have outdoor dining or have views of the water, they need to adjust their prices a little. $29 for seafood pasta seemed like a lot, especially when Perch at my hotel was far less than that for steak and other seafood choices. read more

We were tired of going from restaurant to restaurant with big crowds waiting to get in. Found the Pier House, no wait, no crowds. Service was excellent, had the shrimp and grits which was stellar. Friends enjoyed the crab cerviche and fried oysters. The calamari was ok. Specials sounded good. Prices reasonable. The atmosphere was modern clean, not a beachy place, but good food. This was our first trip to the Pier House. We will be back. We are Gulf Shores regulars making 5 or 6 trips a year(it is good being retired). We had the crab on crab special and the redfish special. Ambiance is very welcoming. Family owned business. Hostess made us aware of this. Sat us at a very nice table in the bar area. I ordered the bacon wrapped fillet with crab topping. The only comment I had for the chef was that there was not very much crab on the steak. He said something about crab being very expensive and, therefore, didn't use a lot to keep the price of the dinner down. I would've preferred an appropriate amount of crab because there just was not enough. Wife and daughter ordered a Caesar salad and the red fish. Wife said Caesar salad was dynamite but the redfish dinner was average. Service was good. Overall I'd say it was a very good experience. I like that the chef came out to visit us. Oh yes, for dessert we had the chocolate tort and the deep fried cheesecake. Again, I was looking for decadence but didn't necessarily find it with the desserts. Again, very good and worth a visit! We ended up here on Saturday when our favorite restaurant had an hour wait and no oysters. I had the redfish special and it was fantastic. Probably the best meal I've had in the 2+ years we've lived in OB. Hubby said the oysters were amazing and bigger than any others he'd had here. I think we may have found a new favorite!! read more

We have been to the Pier House three times, and each time the food was amazing. We started with dinner salads that were some of the freshest we've had. The main courses were excellent and the attention to detail with the side dishes was spectacular. We used to live in New Orleans and this restaurant is very similar in its cuisine, service and very friendly staff. The owner comes around to the tables to make sure that everything is good. The caliber and quality of the food is comparable to some of the better restaurants in New Orleans. The value is quite good as well. Highly recommend. read more

Tried this new place tonight. It was five star even though they are still in their soft opening. Hubby had the ribeye and he said it was the best he's had since we moved here a year ago from the Midwest where good steaks rule. I had the burger (there were quite a few other things on the menu I wanted to try but had been craving a good burger for a week) and it was awesome. I do think it is a bit pricey for a burger but would definitely get it again, and adding purse hooks in the women's bathroom stalls would be nice, but great place, great atmosphere, service and food! read more

What a wonderful find on Orange Beach!! Pier House is locally and family owned and operated, and on our 3/18/21 lunch visit had been open only about a week. The beautiful facility is perfect for beach vacationers looking for a nice upscale meal in a comfortable, classy venue. There is lovely local jewelry and art (hand-crafted by talented family members of the owners) on offer at reasonable price points. Live music over lunch (by another talented family member of the owners) was an unexpected treat! Food (by two chefs who are also talented family members of the owners): Oh my! The sausage-stuffed mushrooms in a delectable cream sauce . . . the rich, sumptuous, meaty crab bisque . . . the seafood po'boy that my husband loved so much I didn't get to try it . . . . Plus great craft cocktails and a staff/management team so charming and (rightly) proud of this special venture they have created that we wanted to befriend them and just hang out sometime. This restaurant was exactly what we were looking for on our vacation. I was with a party of 9 and they did a wonderful job seeing to our needs. I really liked the decor and the food was delicious!
