The hostess was very friendly and they made sure our table was nice and clean before seating us and our waiter was great. I ordered the 'Pink Malibu' which happened to be the drink of the day, along with the fried crab claws, fried green tomatoes, and the grouper (with mashed potatoes and mixed veggies). The food was ok, missed some opportunities of adding salt to some apps and entrees. Dinner here with the wife. She had the seafood pasta dish, said it was very good. I had the large Cesar salad w/ blackened shrimp. Shrimp was prepared very well, very flavorful. Salad lettuce was clearly not fresh, actually limp... Ambiance is ordinary for a restaurant in the area. The shining star was our waiter, Seth, who was very conscientious and did a great job. I visited the Pier House restaurant on Perdido Beach Blvd because it is within walking distance from the Indigo Hotel where we were staying. It was a pleasant surprise to find out The Pier House is one of the best local restaurants in the area; we waited for about 20 minutes to be sited, and while waiting, I enjoyed looking at all the lovely beach-themed items in their gift shop. My family and I experienced outstanding customer service and excellent food. I regretted not being hungry enough to taste more items. We had the calamari as an appetizer, and I had a bowl of Gator gumbo with a glass of Riesling. Delicious! I am looking forward to visiting them again when we are back in the area. Pier House restaurant accepts credit cards, and their parking lot is ample. However, they are busy, so I suggest you call ahead of time and make a reservation. Had a nice Saturday early dinner under the new ownership. Missed happy hour by 7 minutes darn it as it ends at 5 PM. Murder Point oysters are $13 a dozen on HH. We had a great dozen and they were $20. Got my lump crab ceviche and enjoyed it although they could not have it swimming in dressing. Simpler the better. We ordered crab bisque and gumbo along with splitting the seafood platter. For some reason the soups didn't ever show up but we enjoyed the platter. Cocktails were good and I had a very good whisky sour. We sat in the bar area and Holly took care of us. No bread service was offered as a note of info. We enjoy dinner here and what a delightful place to dine. Felix, our server was very knowledgeable about the menus and specials and set us in the right direction. We started off with the shrimp Augratin with french bread and it was so yummy we asked for more bread so we could enjoy all the cheese mixture. We made a reservation a week in advance for Memorial Day weekend to celebrate our anniversary while on vacation in Gulf Shores. They called quickly to confirm our reservation. When we arrived, they rearranged our tables when they saw we were dressed up. Super accommodating? attentive and friendly staff. Food was delicious. 3 specials entrees in addition to their menu. We had filet minion (special), trout, and fried oysters. Then bananas foster for dinner. Bananas foster was on fire and so tasty. We chose this restaurant based on an article that recommended fancy places in Gulf Shores. Pier house was listed due to their art collection. The art wasn't as expected, but was a nice atmosphere. Once the platter arrived at our table, we knew we had made a good choice... The calamari,shrimp,oysters, and trout were seasoned and fried to perfection...It had hushpuppies that my husband thought were the best he had ever eaten... And, since we were sharing, we had one each... He begged for mine, but i liked it too, so he only got a bite...We will be getting an additional side order of those next time. This place is kind of hidden, so it may not be seen my many... I highly recommend it, and ill be spreading the word to go there... This place is a hidden gem on the state park side of Orange Beach! The entire place looks like new construction but our waitress told us they had been open for three years. The pride they take in keeping their space clean, fresh, and inviting really really shows and makes a difference! Tuesday evening, seated with reservations. Server was friendly enough and described the specials while standing directly behind me, so it felt like he was talking to the back of my head when standing at the end of the rectangular table was more appropriate so we could all see and hear him. Ordered fried green tomatoes and crab cakes for appetizers. Crab cakes had more crab on top than in the actual cake - it was nearly all breading with no discernible crab. They also didn't taste fresh. Sent them back and manager or owner apologized and took them off the check. Fried green tomatoes were average. Entrees arrived about 40 minutes after we ordered them. Cool, but can we have some steak knives with our filets and my pork chop? Server had to be flagged down to bring those. Filets wrapped in bacon weren't great. Personally, I think wrapping a filet with bacon is like saying the filet can't hold its own (usually poorly seasoned) and needs help from a slice of bacon. Not my thing and none of us were really into that dish. One of us got the house burger and it was honestly pretty confusing in terms of taste. I think it had some type of herb cream cheese and arugula on it. Again, a miss and really overwhelmed the taste of the burger itself. Not sure how this place gets the high ratings it does; maybe because most people don't know to expect better? Nice owners and servers but the food is mid tier at best. Considering the prices, I expected much better. The wait time for the food was excessive, the food was underwhelming and it was crazy loud. We try to eat dinner out only once during our trips to OB/GS and sadly we wasted it on Pier House this time. Sad, sad panda. read more

Stopped to dine here on our way to visit to Ron Jon Surf Shop. Calamari was perfect was a lovely dipping sauce. Fried seafood platter was huge and a huge success with my pre-teen. Fries were different but delicious (a cross between a photo wedge and fry). I had the blackened snapper with rice, pineapple salsa, and Caribbean black beans. The garnish was impressive, but not nearly as all the flavors together. Also impressive was the owner who was providing "teachable moments" to the staff at another table when we were being sat. A steak we ordered never came out, and when we asked them to comp or discount the ticket, Carrie came in and made excuses, told us to act more like Jesus (!!!!) and told us she was more concerned with feeding her kitchen staff.
