We visited The Pier House for lunch and started with the crab ceviche. Unfortunately, it resembled more of a crab salad than any ceviche we've previously enjoyed. We also split a wedge salad, which turned out to be pretty plain and underwhelming. For our entrees, we ordered the tuna BLT and the shrimp and grits, neither of which managed to impress us, particularly given their price. Although the staff was very sweet and attentive, the food itself was lackluster. Absolutely wonderful atmosphere music was great as it always is great food and service

We had gumbo and fried shrimp for lunch a couple of days ago. Gumbo was good enough to come back and eat again. The shrimp was local and tender fried. We came back tonight and had the oysters Rockefeller appetizer and the redfish special. Both were excellent. We sat at the bar to watch the football games. Half of my family loves seafood and half won't touch it. This place was a perfect spot for us! My kids got cheeseburgers off of the kids menu. The burgers were huge and the fries were super fun shaped and delicious. They ate really well, and if you're a momma of young kids, you know that alone is worthy of a 5 star review. The food was decent, but the service was horrible. They did not take our drink orders for twenty minutes. The hostess came to the table to alert us that she actually did not assign a member of the wait staff to us, so we would never have been waited on unless she somehow decided to figure that out. I never leave a bad review, but for the price of the food and bad service, I am disappointed. Not to mention they added a 20% gratuity charge, making my meal go from a $25 app and side to a whopping $37. Fantastic beachside upscale restaurant! Low lighting, candles and beautiful music. We had the Pan Seared Scallops with perfectly seasoned Orzo! Redfish Special with fresh seasonal vegetables and mashed potatoes! Everything we ate was the best food we've ever tasted! High prices, Mediocre food: BEWARE Came here because this was the only place that wasn't packed for a lunch rush. Thought we'd all be getting quality seafood that was fresh and premium like the manager boasted about. Instead all we got was the specialty soup that was far too salty, a steak that was over cooked and not worth the 35$, and fried oysters that didn't have much flavor (everyone in my group felt that they was more bread than oyster meat). We complained to the manager abt the salty soup, but he seemed quite unapologetic. He seemed to be avoiding eye contact with us the rest of the night; he probably knew we weren't happy about the other food as well. The staff here deserves 5 stars. Everyone was so nice. Patrick greeted us and thought we might be upset about a 15-30 min wait. We weren't. Went to the bar for a drink. Bartender was busy and didn't greet us for about 5-7 min but eventually took our order and was very pleasant. The atmosphere is inviting and the dishes looked amazing. Both my partner and I had the specials: Red fish topped with lump crab and the crab on crab on crab. Sadly, our food was bland, flavorless and mushy. The mashed potatoes were good tho. Had the crab bisque. I enjoyed it but it was heavy on the salt. My partner had the seafood gumbo which he said was fine, just not spicy. He had the red fish with topped crab. Fish was over cooked and flavorless. My crab cake was mushy, no crisp, just a pile of mush atop mashed potatoes. the soft shell crab had a nice fried texture but the crab tasted like fish that's been left to sit too long. So off putting I couldn't eat the lump crab inside. There were a few pieces of lump crab on top of the dish which was a nice bite. We were so disappointed. Chef was friendly and came by our table. I could only comment on how nice everyone was. I felt like I couldn't tell him about the food. That's on me. I was still hungry so I got key lime pie to go. Once we got back to the room I found the pie to be mushy too. The crust was wet. Curd was fine, but the pie reminded me of the Jello-no bake cheese cakes I ate as a kid. We just had the best meal of our vacation. The food here was delicious. The scallops and seafood in the seafood pasta were cooked perfectly. I had the grouper which was also cooked perfectly. The sauces on both dishes were interesting and very tasty. I'd even recommend the yum yum dressing for the salads. I ordered the seafood pasta which has a regular or spicy option. I ordered the spicy option and it has just the right amount of spice. The drinks are very good! So many different options. I ordered the watermelon margarita which comes with a piece of watermelon. Unfortunately I did not know that they charge you $2 for a piece of watermelon which I did not ask for. Ok so I talked to some of the employees and found out that everything is made to order and nothing is processed. Also the oysters come from Louisiana and they good size (big). This trip I tried a sampler oysters (2+2+2 ) and they were amazing. Then I got the filet steak with crab meat on top, again amazing!! I ended the meal with the fried cheese cake, Mmmmm....I think I could just go and eat the oysters and cheese cake!! It was kind of expensive, but you get what you pay for. So, I highly recommend giving them a try. Not sure about kids food, I didn't have my kids with this time. I think this Is better for a good date night. read more

We came here on Valentine's Day, hoping we could get in without a reservation! The hostess was very sweet and seated us promptly. We are a gluten-free family, so I was super excited to try fried seafood that's battered with corn flour! We were not disappointed! We shared the 2-2-2 oyster platter and the Pier house platter, which is a variety of fried seafood. It was all absolutely delicious!! It was served with sweet potato fries since the hush puppies are not gluten free. We also treated ourselves to the flourless torte cake. Yum!! The service was top-notch. This was a truly bizarre experience. I'm not a local so relied on Open Table and reviews to guide my choices on my trip. Upon entering the hostess asked if I could cancel the reservation or if I needed the points. My fiancée and I visited the Pier house looking for a spot to grab something to eat, and came across the Pier House. This is where we met Shannon. She not only had a great attitude but also an equally amazing personality. She skillfully aided us in what drink orders as well as what menu items to order. Our food came out quick and were absolutely delicious. We were pleasantly surprised ,as the Pier House seemed rather slow. Pricing was amazing and honestly you couldn't beat the happy hour deals! Hats off to the Pier house, they absolutely blew us away. This spot went from a spot to just grab something to eat because it was close to a MUST visit once we return. My kids and I came here on whim because it was so close to the hotel we were staying at and it exceeded our expectations. We started the meal off with crab cakes which have a good amount of crab in them. Not having been to OBA since the pandemic, we were disappointed to see that Big Wave Dave's had closed. Pier House now occupies that same location and was recommended by our Franklin, TN friends. It did not disappoint. We started with the saucy royal reds shrimp appetizer which came with big chunks of french bread for dipping. My wife got the redfish special and I got the seafood pasta. Both were great. Service was excellent. Staff attentive and friendly without being overbearing. Ambiance average though the restaurant was clean and bright. We pretty much had the restaurant to ourselves at 6pm on a Wed. Not sure why this place was fairly empty given the outstanding food. We will be going back before returning home for sure! My Wife had the BEST watermelon margarita (well...maybe two ) that she ever had along with shrimp and grits. I had the chef's special which was blackened triple tail topped with shrimp on a bed of fried rice. Oh yeah, it was delicious!
