Seafood pasta was wonderful for Gram. We come here every visit to Orange Beach. We need gluten free dad food, corn free mom & burger & fries for grand. The kitchen is accommodating & food is so delicious. Good to dine together & not concerned about cross contamination. Very nice staff. Big Thank You

I visited the Pier House restaurant on Perdido Beach Blvd because it is within walking distance from the Indigo Hotel where we were staying. It was a pleasant surprise to find out The Pier House is one of the best local restaurants in the area; we waited for about 20 minutes to be sited, and while waiting, I enjoyed looking at all the lovely beach-themed items in their gift shop. My family and I experienced outstanding customer service and excellent food. I regretted not being hungry enough to taste more items. We had the calamari as an appetizer, and I had a bowl of Gator gumbo with a glass of Riesling. Delicious! I am looking forward to visiting them again when we are back in the area. Pier House restaurant accepts credit cards, and their parking lot is ample. However, they are busy, so I suggest you call ahead of time and make a reservation. It is lovely to find places that take pride in offering their best.

Had a nice Saturday early dinner under the new ownership. Missed happy hour by 7 minutes darn it as it ends at 5 PM. Murder Point oysters are $13 a dozen on HH. We had a great dozen and they were $20. Got my lump crab ceviche and enjoyed it although they could not have it swimming in dressing. Simpler the better. We ordered crab bisque and gumbo along with splitting the seafood platter. For some reason the soups didn't ever show up but we enjoyed the platter. Cocktails were good and I had a very good whisky sour. We sat in the bar area and Holly took care of us. No bread service was offered as a note of info. We will return and try to make HH for the oysters, which were very good. Bill was $155 including tip.

What a great experience! 100% gluten free fried seafood! Excellent steaks! First time I have been able to eat hushpuppies in years!!!! Our waitress was awesome and had a great after dinner discussion! They are wonderful folks. The husband served in the military. Please go support the new owners & enjoy an excellent night out!!!

Loved it! Food, service, interaction with neighboring diners, and reasonable prices made for a great experience. We got the $75 dinner for two and somehow had room to share Key Lime Pie...but they're into that, as they pretty much give you two pieces for your $12. Now, I can be a wine snob, but for the price (and a Mondavi wine), we took the deal. I got the Grilled Trout-it was tender and delicious. The Crayfish sauce was outstanding, and the veggies were perfectly cooked. My wife got the Grilled Shrimp. It too, was perfectly cooked, with a zingy and flavorful sauce. The salads were also very fresh and tasty. I got Blue Cheese, which came with nicely aged crumbles on top. My wife got the tangy vinaigrette. The table next to us got all the desserts and said they were fantastic, so we tried the Key Lime pie. It was authentic, zingy, very plentiful, and tasty. Our server was great, and the owner stopped by a number of times to check in. What a great experience overall.

We enjoy dinner here and what a delightful place to dine. Felix, our server was very knowledgeable about the menus and specials and set us in the right direction. We started off with the shrimp Augratin with french bread and it was so yummy we asked for more bread so we could enjoy all the cheese mixture. Hubby ordered the crab on crab dinner that featured lump crab meat on top of a soft shell crab on top of a crab cake. I had the filet with crab meat on top. Everything was perfection and we are only sorry we didn't have room for desert or lived closer! We also enjoyed a "pain killer" cocktail and a blueberry margarita and both were exceptional!

Happy hour 2-5 per new owners!! $7 cocktails- see pics. Service was great . Beach bistro bar and cafe decor. Yes they have booths with padded seats! Food was good- I had a Caesar with grilled shrimp dusted just right with blackened seasoning. My wife did the redfish special which was good. Tried the lambchop lollipops app - great but only 2. Also tried crab cakes which were ok( not Maryland lump CC.s) and also tried creamy crab bisque with lump crab in it -- very good!

Food and service were impeccable... The server and greeter were very nice and accommodating ... Only reason i didn't give this place 5 stars is bc i didn't particularly care for the fries and thought the menu items were a bit pricey ... Although, my husband had a different opinion and really liked the fries and thought prices were reasonable. We ordered Creamy Crab Bisque and Pier House Seafood Platter to share... The crab bisque was so tasty, that we'll be ordering our own bowl from now on (yes, that's an indication we will be returning frequently) ...Too much goodness to split... Our mouth was watering for more...On the menu, it said it was served with toast points...But, ours was served with a small piece of French bread. Chef Chappy, owner, goes to each table to ensure food is prepared to satisfaction... When I questioned the "toast points" and voiced how our bisque wasn't served w what i call toast points and how it was different than what was noted on the menu... He was quick to reply that he could serve it w anything i wanted (bonus, for being so willing to please)... But, we kept what we had bc my husband said he wanted that, in place of anything else. We chose the Pier House Seafood Platter because it had an array of things that aren't normally on the same plate, at other places... Once the platter arrived at our table, we knew we had made a good choice... The calamari, shrimp, oysters, and trout were seasoned and fried to perfection...It had hushpuppies that my husband thought were the best he had ever eaten... And, since we were sharing, we had one each... He begged for mine, but i liked it too, so he only got a bite...We will be getting an additional side order of those next time. This place is kind of hidden, so it may not be seen my many... I highly recommend it, and ill be spreading the word to go there... It seems to be a spot where people do return. once discovered, because staff knew the other patrons present by name (probably locals)... And, they knew exactly what they wanted because they ordered without menus. I really hope this place stays in business bc it's on our list, as one of our favorites now. Sorry, there is no picture of the Bisque... We ate it so fast, that I didn't capture a photo.

Food was delicious, service was great! We'll definitely come back! Fish and veggies were cooked perfectly!

    Shrimp with mixed veggies

The hostess was very sweet and our server was great! My husband ordered the Shrimp, which he got blackened. (He substituted mixed veggies instead of fries.) The shrimp were cooked well and he enjoyed the dipping sauce, too. However, the shrimp and grits left a lot to be desired. The grits were okay, as were the shrimp, but the tasso was very off-putting - big chunks that were chewy. The gator sausage was okay. I'm sure other dishes would be better.

The family gave the Pier house a 4 out of 5. Negative things that kept the restaurant from getting a 5 out of 5. 1. Oysters had some shells in them that my wife was eating. I heard the crunch and thought she had broken a tooth. 2. Not enough hush puppies with the dinner, and they were chewy in the middle. 3. Expected more of a side with the platter vs what we paid. The positive things about the restaurant. 1. Excellent vibes and clean restaurant. 2. Emily, our waitress, was an amazing server and made sure we felt welcomed at the restaurant. 3. The shrimp, whether it was blackened, fried, or baked, tasted awesome. I recommend the blackened. 4. Kids menu had good options for any appetite. Pasta, shrimp, Cheeseburgers and chicken fingers. 5. Kids sides options were on point. My boys loved the fresh fruit and curled fries. 6. Military discount.

It's the food folks go there for. The oysters were fresh and served in a simple appealing way. The fish was white and firm and delicious. The grilled shrimp they are famous for do not have a savory flavor, tastes more like they were grilled with honey on them. We were not expecting that at all. We did not like the 30 dollars worth of sweet shrimp. It does come in very generous portion if you like that type of flavor. Hush puppies were pretty darn good, light, nicely seasoned with good flavor. The Cole slaw was excellent. All portions were generous. Overall they are friendly, the service is personable and efficient! Ambiance is that of a local diner style, not fancy just comfortable. We liked everything but the sweet grilled shrimp. We are from the north and maybe it is just a southern style we aren't familiar with or used to consuming. The gumbo is pretty good too. They have great mixed drinks and they have one that is a salted caramel flavor that is really excellent. Overall: would highly recommend for a good meal and friendly service. Apparently it is not important enough to service staff to understand what is like to have someone in your party that has a food allergy. The most important thing, is to have the ability to empathize with your guests, and make their experience a good one. If there is an issue with cross contamination in your kitchen, then create an area in the kitchen solely to address those with food allergy needs. For example, when your customer tells you the sprite has no flavor, you don't just come back and tell them it looks fine to me and everything is hooked up. Try tasting it yourself and at least bring a new cup of it to the table. Don't come back empty handed. Then there was the Crab Cakes. After all of the seafood places I have been to in the southeast I found these crab cakes to be just so so. If you are going to deep fry them, please understand that the crab meat will turn to the consistency of tuna salad and is not pleasant to eat whatsoever. Perhaps skip the breading/deep fry and pan fry them instead? While the breading on the crab cake was crisp and delicious, it was a little off setting to have mushy crab on the inside. Again, this was a beautiful venue with a great view. I am troubled by the lack of attention to detail, especially when it comes to addressing your guests.

My advice, find a seat, have someone order at the order window, then head to the bar to order drinks. The wait to order food took about a half hour. It was very quick to get our drinks. We were able to snag a couch area on a platform. It was so comfy and we loved the views. A heads up- if you snag a couch like this, kids will get up on the platform and jump off of it. People will step up on the platform and walk extremely close to you. I had to ask a kid to stop throwing sand by us because we were eating our dinner. It was a little chaotic. We were extremely patient and understand, but I could see some people being very upset and annoyed. After ordering, our food came out pretty quick. I started with the coconut grouper bites and they were phenomenal. Light breading, lightly sweat, and flaky. I had the Gulf Grilled Cobia and it was phenomenal. The fish was tender, flaky, and light. No fishiness at all. The sauce on the fish was also delightful. My husband and son had the fajita skewers and both enjoyed them. My husband also had the peel and eat shrimp and said they were amazing at The Gulf. Our drinks were okay. We had better drinks at other places during the week, but they weren't bad. We would return, but try to come on an off-time that wasn't so busy.
