As I previously reviewed we were visiting Harbor Springs downtown and the beach in the morning. This was our first time here with my family of seven including three adults and three young children for our 12 noon lunch reservation. The restaurant opened a few minutes after 12 noon. Other customers ahead of us were also waiting to be seated. The hostess was not very friendly. The older female hostess seemed to be annoyed, when we checked in. We were seated at a round table near the deck. We had a partial view of the bay. I enjoyed my two Michigan Manhattans with Iron Fish bourbon whiskey, sweet vermouth, Iron Fish cherry maple smoked bitters and a cherry up for $19 each. I also enjoyed my reuben for $21. The reuben is made with Sy Ginsberg corned beef, house sauerkraut, swiss, house thousand island dressing, toasted rye and beef tallow fries. This restaurant is expensive. Our food service was slow even though the restaurant was not crowded. We had to wait almost an hour for our food to be served to us. Being with young children was not good for our young children to wait so long. Keni served us very well. I don't think Keni was the cause of our slow food service. Our total bill was $242 excluding gratuity.

Great little cocktail place before dinner with snacks. The inside is cute and it has a nice view of the boat harbor.

We came here as we had a Stafford's gift card to utilize. I Will note we came on a Saturday night about an hour before close in early May, so this likely contributed to having no wait time. But we were greeted promptly and staff seemed to make an effort to seat us at maybe the table with the best view in the place, in the corner wall of windows. Service was pretty prompt and polite. I got the ribeye which I believe was a special, served with scallops, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. It was cooked very well and delicious. My husband got the whitefish sandwich with sweet potato fries and he didn't leave much on the plate! The clientele seemed to skew older, not a complaint, just an observation. Probably a great place to take parents and family to impress them. We enjoyed a walk on the pier after as well.

The seafood "tower". When asked if there are usually crackers for the dip, our waitress said "I've never actually seen this ordered before".

A classic northern Michigan restaurant that has gone through recent changes to ownership and staff. The menu still offers some of the old standby entrees but many are no longer available. I tried the scallops that were served on a bed of risotto with a tasty zesty sauce. Very good. The Caesar salad was just ok. Not special. Our server Maverick did a decent job with a group of eight although I was hoping he could give us individual bills. This restaurant doesn't have the "old-world" charm that it had 20-30 years ago but it's still one of the better options if you're looking for a solid dining experience in Harbor Springs.

Used to be great, ruined by new ownership. New menu, horrible service, bring back the old Stafford's Pier experience. Will not be back.

Well I couldn't get a reservation in the fall so my girlfriend and I tried again while taking a ski trip to Boyne Mountain . Yes, The location and ambiance is fabulous . We were graciously greeted and sat at table # 1 right by the windows looking out to the frozen lake truly a great table. Our waitress Janice a local greeted us and was very nice. Janice did a great job going through the menu which I will added the prices were very fare . The wine and cocktail list were also impressive with a wide offering in price and choice. We decided on a Malbec to start. Then they brought out a the welcoming taste of salmon pate on a cucumber which we both found to be very tasty . After reviewing the menu we chose to bypass an appetizer for fear of just getting too much food and not finishing our dinner . After I told my girlfriend how good whitefish is in Michigan we both ordered that instead of the salmon or short ribs that also looked enticing. . Before our entree was served we had the warm bread and garlic butter that was terrific and tempting to eat the whole basket . Our dinners were served very quickly even though the restaurant was sold out . As we took the first bites of the white fish I was extremely disappointed . The breading had absolutely zero seasoning or flavor . The fish was flaky and cooked perfectly but the breading was completely flavorless taking away from the fish. Neither of us finished the dish and my girlfriend tried adding salt just to get some flavor but it didn't make it any better . I was going to order dessert but we were so disappointed after our dinner we chose to bypass dessert . . I did order a coffee since they didn't have cappuccino. I will say the coffee was very good , but what good restaurant doesn't have a cappuccino machine . As a side note the bathroom very nicely decorated in old wine box shingles on the wall and was very clean . I gave 3 stars simply because the Walloon Inn has been around so long and highly acclaimed as one of the better restaurants in the area. This was very disappointing . I may come back with my business partner and hope my experience will be better . Until next time .

The mushroom soup was just okay. There was too much pepper in the soup. The hot toddy was a good drink. The elk meatloaf was just okay. The bbq sauce was a little too sweet. We have been dining at Bennethum's for 15+ years based on all of these. The best upscale, (but not pretentious) option in the Gaylord area. Always fresh, lightly dusted and flash fried, nice portion and great flavor. Accompanied with jasmine rice and green beans. My wife had the BNI Blue Wedge Salad, blue cheese dressing , applewood smoked bacon, tomatoes, onion, with shrimp added for protein. Shrimp were plump, juicy and flavorful. And a meal is not complete without a loaf of their BNI bread. :) Great cocktails, warm ambiance. Be sure to check them out when in Gaylord area.
