They have a wide variety of bikes and accessories and are very helpful. They also have a little food shop inside if you need to buy liquids or a snack (which we did). I like the fact that it is a small local bike store and that is a wonderful way to support the local economy. I saw a used trek bicycle from the store $1,000 plus $200 shipping. Before buying the bike, I called the store and Frank said the bike is in like new condition. They serviced it recently, and everything runs great. When I receive the bike, I could not put the front wheel on.Because the front brake was bent. I brought it to a local bike dealer.They fixed it after putting parts in it piermont reimburse me for the charge. I put the bike in a stand. When I spun the front wheel, it hardly moved because of grinding in the hub. The front rotor is rusty. I tried to spin the rear wheel and heard loud grinding noises.Because the rear rotor is bent. My husband purchased a bike from Piermont in March, he had bought a bike from them before and had a great experience. After getting the bike home, he noticed there was a crack at the top of the seat tube, it could have just been paint, it could have been the carbon fiber, but either way it's not something you want on a bike you just paid a few $grand$ for. Piermont was good enough in replacing it, but my husband needed to take multiple 90-minute round trips back/forth to Piermont and was without a bike for a month in the process. It seems like something that the bike shop and the manufacturer could have worked out a better arrangement for. Since getting his bike he's had ongoing issues with the rear wheel, each costing money and time to have spokes replaced. My husband is not small (especially when it comes to road cycling) but he's owned multiple bikes over the last decade and has never come close to breaking 3 spokes in 3 months on a brand new wheel. After spending $60 to have the wheel fixed a couple times, Piermont finally agreed to swap the wheel for a direct replacement. They also suggested that he get a better wheel that would give less problems, but won't offer a credit to him to offset the time/trouble/trade-in from the original wheel that should be a warranty replacement from BMC. I feel bad because this was a birthday present and he was so looking forward to this new bike, instead he's now scared of breaking something every time he takes it out. You'd think Piermont could do more than the bare minimum to support a bike costing thousands of dollars. read more

A few weeks ago I decided it was time for an upgrade to my bike. I had my eyes set on a Cannondale SuperSix Evo. I saw that three shops had the model I wanted. One was in California, one was in Brooklyn, and one was Piermont Cycling Connection. The Cali store had been great to me on the past, but shipping was a pain and I missed buying from a local shop and getting the service that comes with it. I went to the Brooklyn store, which had a ton of nice bikes. However, they barely wanted to talk to me and when I asked to hold the bike the guy kept trying to take it out of my hands to put it back on the wall. Kinda weird service towards someone who is about to buy an $8,300 bike. So I called up Piermont. I spoke to Sunny who immediately got to work on setting me up. He put the bike on hold for me, got the paperwork to me immediately, went through numerous upgrades I wanted and gave an extremely competitive price. On my next day off work I drove up there to pickup the bike. Everything was installed and ready to go. No games, no hassle. The store is big, but clearly had in inventory in back room that surpasses any other shop I've been to. I swore that's all I was buying that day, but Sunny and I were chatting away and before I knew it I was having a pair of Enve SES 4.5 wheels installed. A shop guy dropped everything to get my new tubeless wheels setup. Sunny was easy-going, knowledgeable, and patient. We were talking for two hours. I would've bought the bike from anyone at that store, but I lucked out getting Sunny. They clearly move a lot of inventory because they seem to have nearly everything I wanted in stock and a whole bunch of mechanics working on bikes. I live in Manhattan right across the street from a Trek dealer and it's one of the few shops in the city with mechanics that I trust to work on my bike - even though they aren't a Cannondale dealer. But now I have a second option. I was on a 60 mile ride today and found myself passing by Piermont. I needed an adjustment to my break and stopped in to see Sunny. He had a technician immediately take a look at my bike and I was on my way in less than five minutes. Obviously I wish they were across the street from me, but it's worth the extra drive or a ride to find a place that is knowledgeable, cares, and treats you well. A few weekends ago I happened to have the shock of my life at Piermont Cycle Shop! A group ride member had to have a cable replacement and was charged $41. And I only asked for a quick adjustment to the front derailleur because it was stuck, the dishonest mechanic kept tinkering trying to fix what was working properly and pretending to fix my problem and then tells the manager to charge me full price of $43 for a job that was not major and still was not working proper. The manager then tries to convince me that I asked for full service and that was the price, then to crown it off, began to make Racist comments and tells me not to come back there, all African Americans that ride around Piermont, do not support this Racist establishment, please spend your money with persons that have integrity and respect despite race or creed and give optimum service! read more

One of the worst bike shops I've been too. I purchased my bike here and a couple of months later, the derailleur broke. I brought my bike in to get it fixed and the service was so terrible. First of all, we were awkwardly waiting for someone to see us and when someone eventually did, he said he'll be right back because he has to see if they have the part. We waited for 15 min!!! And we can clearly see that he wasn't even looking up the part. Eventually he came back and said he has to order the part but it's on back order and will take a few weeks. We left and I ordered the part on my own from online and got it in a few days and we went to the park ridge bike shop to get it fixed (marvelous place). I recently had a lousy experience with the bike mechanics. I had brought my bike for maintenance and about a week after I got it back, I started having problems with the gears. When I took it back again, they insisted they had no responsibility, that it was something separate. Maybe. What annoyed me was the patronizing attitude they had. They even openly mocked me WHILE I was waiting. One mechanic in particular had big mouth - I do not need to pay people to be rude to me. I won't go back. I found a bike on their Ebay store and emailed Glen the owner about pricing. He answered all my questions promptly and was very transparent. I live in the Bronx so it was a 40 minute drive there. Adjustments were quickly done to my bike and Glenn came up to me and personally introduced himself. He offered me a coffee from their pretty cool in store cafe and seemed like an all around good guy. Piermont Bike is my favorite pit stop when I am on 9W route heading to bear mountain. I often just come here to just browse around; however, this one day, I had to leave the store with a helmet (long story short, I forgot my to wear one). This is where the shady salesmanship begins, it is true that this place price gouge on everything, up to 100% above retail. I walk up to this guy and ask him for the price for a helmet I was looking at, he got agitated, and said "I am not sure; I have to check but the price should be $199". After "negotiating" back and forth, I got him to lower it to $150, since it didn't come with tags and it was, to me at least, a display model. The helmet retails for $99 in other stores. I didn't check price ahead of time, because I didn't want that to influence myself from not getting that helmet. At the end of the day, I did not regret my purchase. It was a nice helmet. I support small business, and glad to help make America Great Again, but I will NEVER buy anything from this store again, but I will still stop by and continue to use their bathroom. Their bathroom is pretty clean, hence, I am giving them 2-stars. read more

I will put this disclaimer up front. I have never purchased a bike here or had repairs, but have been here many times for breaks during a ride and with people getting repairs. A few friends have also purchased bikes there as well. All of the above said, they have a decent mini-coffee shop in the store where I get snacks and a coffee, etc. Frequently when we are there, someone in our group gets something fixed. I found them on eBay. I counter-offered and asked clarification on the whopping shipping price of $120. I was told it's oversize item plus insurance. I have shipped bikes myself couple of times and it's always been close to $70-90 nationwide, with insurance for bikes ~$3k. I also happen to bump into their online store and interestingly they had no shipping. So I emailed them asking if they could honor the counter offer and offer free shipping. No response. I then chatted with their online store and was told I need to call the store for any discount. I called them and after 2 holds was most likely transferred to the store manager or owner. I told him that I had emailed and asked if they could provide a 10% discount for first time buyer (the coupon which never arrived at my email). I was told they don't apply to bikes, which I thought was fair enough. Then I asked if they can honor the eBay counter offer which was less than the online store sale price. To which he said no we can't. I asked why do you charge shipping price on eBay but not via your online store. I also told them, most bike shops/manufacturers are now shipping bikes free of cost anyway. I got a very rude answer - you do the math, which comes cheaper. I was a bit taken aback and told him I'll decide later on. Later in the day, surprisingly the 'closeout' section in their online store didn't show the model/make I was looking for. It just vanished! I was finally able to find it by doing a search and then placed an order. By the way the make/model now shows up once again. Mystery! Once I placed an order, I sent an email asking if the bike will be semi built (cable routing etc.) and if it has a quick release. It wouldn't have changed my decision but I just wanted to be prepared when it arrives, so that I have the right tools to set it up. No response even after a follow-up. The bike finally arrived yesterday. Packaging was done well. I had to fix the front brake since it almost had no bite. The front derailleur was skipping and the rear derailleur was slight bent (can happen due to shipping). It wasn't too difficult to build it and fix all the issues, but the whole experience was not up to the mark. I almost didn't want to buy outside the LBS network, but since I purchased mine locally, I thought it's OK to give some business to a NY store after all that they are going through. From the previous reviews it seems they have issues with customer interaction and I hope with time they will realize couple of things - 1. Customers needs to be nurtured 2. Bought an E-Bay bike from Piermont and picked it up onsite. When I had a little trouble tuning up the bike (a little knowledge is dangerous), Glen said bring it back so he could take a look. Sure enough, Glen had it up and running, including a fairly good inspection of the upgraded drivetrain, He sent me on my way with a spare tube and a few parts for another bike I am working on. He treated a first time customer like I had been going there for years. Good selection of bikes and accessories for everyone from the Lycra set to the beginner. Store is generally welcoming with free public tools outside and a vending machine for many ride oriented parts. There was also a coffee bar (BIG plus for me) with tables to encourage folks to stick around and browse, trade riding stories and generally enjoy being around biking. Outstanding Customer Service. Friendly Staff. I will do business with them again. I just bought a Scott Scale 710 from Piermont Bike the week before Christmas. Ordering was simple and very smooth. I placed my order at about 2:15EST and I received the order confirmation almost immediately...well in 3 minutes. Within 24 hours I had a shipping confirmation with expected arrival date to my house (1600 Miles away) before Christmas. Seeing as how I would be out of town for Christmas, I immediately called the shop. I spoke with Jason and explained to him the situation. He asked me what date worked best for me, took down my number and excused himself so that he could contact the shipper. Jason called me back in under 10 minutes with a new shipment date to arrive right after I returned home from vacation. The bike arrived on time and in excellent condition. Seeing as I am no expert in the assembly department, I called back and talked with Glenn about the an issue I was having with the dropper post. I recently purchased a Cannondale synapse carbon bicycle from these guys. It has been a very positive experience and nothing short of five stars. The owner did not try to talk me into something that I did not want. That is, he did not try to upsell the hell out of me like many other bike shops to do. There was no mention of Ultegra or nothing or dura ace or nothing. Instead, it was try a whole bunch of bikes and see which one you like best. Since purchasing the bike I have been back a few times for adjustments and some saddle switches. I have had zero issues with these guys. They let me switch saddles four times until I found one that did not tear me to shreds. Their bike fitting was fantastic. Matty really knows his stuff! When I purchased the bike they told me I could come in anytime and get an adjustment on the fly. I have to say I had my doubts because it is a very busy shop. However, I have been back twice for adjustments and within 20 minutes they had me back on the road. That is truly amazing and a testament to their fantastic crew of technicians. I did have a defective Shimono pedal and they took it back no questions asked. Of course this was to be expected, but again many other shops might have given me a hard time. I also like that they have a large selection and always have things in stock. I find other shops have a very small inventories because they don't want to have high carrying costs. These guys invest to ensure their customers have what they need when they need it. I have not used their eBay program yet, but I plan to. In all, I have no reservations about recommending the shop. It is almost one hour from my house and worth the drive! Even better when I get to ride there! read more

Today, their top notch mechanic diagnosed a problem in my bike's rear wheel hub. That wheel set is being repaired, and a new wheel set now equips my bike which I rode home. All the work was done quickly and expertly, and I got a fair price in line with online sellers, and my wheels will get the best service in the future having bought from Piermont. When my old wheels are fixed in a few days, I can decide to keep them as back up or sell them through Piermont's super-easy Ebay store. Really nice mechanics and folks in the coffee area. Unlike other shops, I don't get a pretentious vibe from the employees here. Lots of Scotts and Cervelos, plenty of clothes and accessories, and on the spot repairs. They also do an eBay program where they will sell your old stuff for you and you will get store credit in return from the sales. Aside from serving as a great shop to pick up mid-ride essentials (at least for NYC based cyclists), cyclists can get their coffee fix here and some gourmet doughnuts. There is a small cyclist lounge, making it a good spot for a break if Bunbury's is over run, but not a great place for a large group. read more

I brought in a set of Ladies Big Bertha Golf Clubs and included a few special clubs as well and bag. The set and special clubs would cost about $1500.00 etc. I inquired about the status after a long waiting period and was told they were sold for $12.99 - yes $12.99 - I was then told that I get a store credit. At NO time when I completed the paperwork was I told that either. I have been visiting this shop for the last 10+ years. It is a great shop. Like all bicycle shops - they have the "characters" working there - "sometime grumpy" boss, "I will do whatever you need to get your bike working" mechanic and "leave it to me I will help you find your bike/parts" sales guys. They are great - If they don't have the parts, they will order it for you right away. I have walked in with emergency needs to repair my bike and they have always went out of their way to take care of me. There were days I was short of some cash, the owner told me to call in with a credit card later or told me to pay next time. In fact, they have done that to ALL of my cycling friends and teammates. I have read some negative comments below. Go visit the store for yourself, you will see that they are an A1+ shop. Remember, like buying anything from any shop, treat them and their products with respect and they will respect you.ie. don't try on a kit over your sweaty body in the middle of the summer, throw the kit on the rack and your excuse is "you should be able to write this off" ) I couldn't recommend a better shop to buy cycling items, and get your bike serviced. read more

We were looking for a good kid's bike and didn't know what to expect as a price range. We would have happily serviced ourselves and determined the bikes were out of our price range if we could have seen the price tags that are placed on the bike. But, they were in a place that's hard to see when the bikes are stacked on the top rack. So, we eventually had to get the attention of a staff member who had a passive aggressive way of making us feel bad that we were looking for a bike for less than $500. I understand this is a serious bike shop, and that's fine, but we were courteous and sincere. Actually found them on Ebay while looking for new bikes and spoke with the owner Glenn via email, recommended some bikes and offered an amazing clearance BMC Sportelite. Traveled to the store and met Matt who helped review the features and offered advice as to similar models and pros and cons since i was just getting back into mountain biking. I liked how he let the data influence the fitting, but the final position was ultimately based on how I felt on the bike.
