From the moment I walked in everyone was welcoming and understood why the bike fit I had done was not working for me. Julian and Paulo got to work and refit me. They understood a fit may take more than one time or even two. They worked with me until I was comfortable and riding pain free again! In addition, last year I popped in with a question about the tires that were on my bike Immediately I was provided a great set of tires that fulfilled my requirements and give me a nice ride! Really wanted to love this place. A lot quicker than going over the bridge to Piermont or Strictly. I went in and dropped off a brand new Specialized Tarmac SL8 frame for the shop to build up. They were to transfer my parts from my existing bike. All the guys at the shop were super cool and friendly and mechanic and I geeked out over 1x ratios. I felt positive that my bike was in good hands for the build. The build was quickly done and I go in the following Saturday to pick up the bike and again I was warmly greeted by everyone in the shop. Everyone is gushing over the bike saying how beautiful it is. I get home and want to prep the bike for my fathers day ride and I go to takeoff the warranty sticker on the downtube and I noticed someone has painted over a sizeable chip by the bottom bracket. I know it's the shop because there is touchup paint on my brand new ceramic bottom bracket. I call up on Monday and get the mechanic and he remembers me and I ask him why there was a chip on the frame. He admits he caused the damaged and it was due to paint on the BB. I really don't remember seeing any paint on the face of the bottom bracket but I will take his word. I asked, why he didn't face the bottom bracket then and he replied he could have created a crack all along the bottom bracket in the lacquer. Ultimately I ask him why he didn't call before he did the install, or after he did the install and it went wrong, or why didn't he mention anything when I came to pickup the bike let alone file a claim with Specialized? The kicker is, the touchup was so poorly done I rubbed away the paint with my finger. The mechanic kept asking what I wanted to do? He kept offering to do another touchup. IMO my experience was a combo of bad customer service and bad technique used. I standby the fact the bottom bracket easily could have been faced if there truly was paint overspray but if the shop didn't have the tools they needed to RMA it. I also was pretty pissed because they lost some of the hardware for my Roval Alpinist seat post on my other bike where I was transferring parts and even though I told the mechanic my chain was waxed, he went and oiled it up. I had to clean my who drive chain and reset my chain again. Beyond that the mechanic there was insanely rude. I was explaining why I was so upset, he cuts me off and says, "you are talking too much, what do you want". Well for one treat my bike like you would treat yours. Simply avoid this shop. This place isn't cheap and isn't worth the headache read more

This place is a true one of a kind operation. Family owned and operated, they spend so much time with every client making sure you get the PERFECT bike for YOU! I spend about 2-3 weeks looking around other shops and operations; which I must say were not very friendly and or helpful. I had a basic idea of what I wanted, but knew very little about bikes in general. When I walked into this shop I was greeted by the friendliest staff I had ever met. They spend so much time with me talking to me about my wants, needs, and budget. When I did pick out a bike, they spend even more time making sure the bike would be just PERFECT, taking countless measurements of my body, almost like I was buying a suit. It was one of the coolest experiences of my shopping history, I really felt as if this bike was custom made just for me....because it is!!!! I've used Julio's twice for service and have been impressed with their knowledge, professionalism and most of all their service. I had changed the work order for my bike, asking them not to put new tires and tubes on as I realized I had both at home. When I arrived, the new tires and tubes were on the bike. They immediately apologized, removed them, credited my bill and gave me the new tubes for free because they had thrown away my old used tubes. That to me was service above and beyond and I did not even buy my bikes from them! read more

I don't typically write reviews, but this experience has stuck with me. I have been going to Julio's Bicycles in Chappaqua for over 10 years. I have never had a complaint and the work has always been done well. However, this last visit was not as positive. I brought my son's bike in, which needed the brakes fixed. Paul explained to me where it was broken and that they needed to replace a part. This all was fine and expected. I also brought my brand new bike in, which I had assembled myself. I asked if he could look it over because they know me as a previous customer. He pointed out to me that when I assembled it, the back tire slightly off. He said he would fix it. I appreciated this offer very much, so I purchased a water bottle holder and hand grips for the new bike. I thought him offering to look it over was very generous. However, when I picked up both bikes I noticed on the receipt there was a charge for a $49 tuneup for my bike. I asked why my bike needed a tune up since it was brand new. What I didn't realize was that when he offered to fix it and I was under the impression that this would be a favor free of charge (which is why I wanted to make an accessory purchase that day), I would actually be charged labor. He explained to me that he didn't charge me the full tune up price when I further asked about why my brand new bike would need a tune up. At this point I was upset because this was something I could have fixed myself. He was polite and offered a refund, but he didn't seem to understand that it was not really about the money. I was more upset with the lack of communication about there being a charge, which was not made clear to me initially. Over the past few years they have been good , however this was a little shady. I also was bothered when I said I won't be coming back and he was fine with that, a customer over 10 years, really? Do not purchase Bicycles from this place. Not only will they overcharge you, but also give you faulty equipment. I purchased a $600 bicycle and it broke quick. I needed to get it repaired and they charged over $159 each time. This was one of the worst purchases I ever made. They sell bikes that break than overcharge you to get it repaired. read more

Possibly one of the greatest "Local Bike Shops" in the US. Bicycle Julio is a fantastic shop, and serves the needs of both the family bicycle shopper, the avid mountain biker, and the 10,000-mile per year roadie. Paul and Willie are always helpful and Manuel is a detail-oriented, efficient, talented mechanic, and a great wheel builder. I'm a pretty finicky cyclist, and used to do all my own work because I couldn't find a shop in NYC that met my standards, but since moving to Chappaqua, I rely on Bicycle Julio to keep my bikes in tune. So far, they've built up a cx bike for me, overhauled my road bike, installed new bottom bracket cups, rebuilt a rear wheel (I trashed the rim in a race) and re-cabled my MTB. Always a great job and always on time. They're also the kind of shop that has a tremendous institutional memory about cycling - need a square taper bb? They can recommend one. Want to respace your old 126mm OLD frame to 130mm? They can handle it. Need a special bolt for your vintage VAR stem? They probably have it in a box somewhere. Oh yeah, and qui si parla Campagnolo, too. We're blessed with good shops in Westchester/Fairfield, but Bicycle Julio might just be the Best. LBS. Ever. read more
