I ended up with a flat a short distance away. I was at the shop waiting outside for it to open when Tom showed up to open for the day. He was able to replace the tube, fill both tires with air to make sure I'd be all set, and get me back on the road so I could finish my ride. I had my bike completely overhauled a while back. Meant to write a review a while ago and forgot and just ran across their card so here we are. I had my bike completely overhauled and as you can see paid a good chunk of change. That's not my complaint though. Part of the job was to swap out my rear shock. When I picked up the bike and paid 630 dollars, I was told they were unable to swap out the rear shock and that the new one didn't fit. I was careful when I bought the new shock to make sure the measurements were correct. It was a direct replacement for a Stumpjumper... same model same year. When I spoke to a buddy who wrenches on his own bike later that day he said that was impossible and said 'I'll be right over." Using the tools you see here and a phonebook he swapped out the shock in about 10 minutes. Has worked perfectly fine ever since. So Yorktown is either incompetent or liars. Take your pick. read more

What a horrible experience. A friend and myself were referred to Yorktown Cycle through our Athletic Club. When we entered we were looked at and not greeted , business etiquette 101 guys. After several minutes of wondering around , looking for assistance someone finally came. When we mentioned our referral and our price point he didn't even bat an eyelash and told us he could not accommodate us , and we should refer to an "online store" . A possible insinuation of "quality" or lack there of. Aside from his rudeness not once did the associate look or speak to me but only dealt with my female counterpart. We left feeling like they didn't want our business and we were fine with that. The owner / manager really needs to go over business etiquette and how to work with the costumer. read more

Took a bike in to replace the tire. They claimed that I didn't know how to fill the tire with air, after I insisted they eventually did change the tube. Took the bike out got another flat tube in a mile, they didn't check the tire and the glass embedded in it ruined the tube again. Real waste of time and money. read more

Just purchased a new bike for my 11 year old daughter and Tom was great in helping us select the right bike. We had to wait several months and our original choice was back-ordered and the manufacturer was misleading us with ship dates...Tom had several back-up plans and we walked away with an even better bike. This company sent me a confirmation for a shock I ordered, then never sent it. They didn't even bother to tell me they weren't going to send it. They said "sorry, that was priced incorrectly, we're not sending it". I will not ever and would not recommend ordering from this company. read more

I wanted a bicycle for well over a year so I decided to stop by my local bicycle shop, Yorktown Cycles. It was a beautiful weekend day so the staff was busy helping customers but I walked around the store and patiently waited for someone to assist me. I came here without any knowledge of outdoor bicycle riding. I frequently participate in spin classes at my gym but I had not been on a bicycle since I was a child. I knew I wanted a hybrid but I didn't want to max out my credit card either. The gentlemen selected a hybrid commuter-type bicycle for me which I just happened to be eyeing when I walked into the store. It was in my price range so I figured sure, why not. They tuned it up for me and a staff member showed me how to take the front tire on and off so I could fit the bicycle into my car. He had me do it a few times by myself just so I felt comfortable and I really appreciated that. I was not overcharged for the bicycle, the staff was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, and I am enjoying my new bicycle without any complaints. read more

I was a fan of this place but having bought a bike for my wife it needed its first minor adjustment which is free (as opposed to all minor being free). Since we had had the bike for 18 months but not ridden it much we figured no problem. According to the staff member it would cost us 60 bucks since the bike was now more than a year old.
