They offer by-the-piece slices of sansrival in individual containers. I discovered their sansrival at a Filipino restaurant in LA called Manila Inasal. We loved it! And fortunately for me I got to taste it again because their bake shop is not far from my house. However..... in my opinion, the slices are priced a bit higher than I can appreciate. I was in the area to do a drop off at the Amazon Fulfillment Center and they are a 5 minute drive away. This is an interesting spot. I ordered food from a door a hall over and realized there were several places you can order from. I looked around and to my surprise a Filipino dessert place came up! I was looking at the menu when some guy walking to the kitchen noticed me. He was super sweet. He handed me some samples to try. Yum! They had a few sliced Sans Rival cakes in the fridge and I asked which one is the best seller. Pistachio and Ube were the top sellers. I don't like Ube, so it was a pistachio for me. Sadly there were no precut slices. Then, he looks at the back and said "Let me check to see if there's any in the back". No luck, no pre sliced cake. But then... he said "Let me cut a slice for you. Give me 5 minutes." Now that's some good ole Filipino hospitality. But how did it taste? Honestly, I was there to support a small Filipino business but honestly this was the best Sans Rival cake I ever had (and I had a lot). It's not even top 10 of my favorite Filipino desserts! I finally got the Dubai Chocolate Sans Rival and it was SO GOOD and totally worth the drive to Canoga Park. I ordered my full cake (and a side of Ube brownies) on Tuesday for a Saturday morning pick up. I texted their main number and got a reply right away, confirming my order date, time and cost. They also included pick up instructions with photos and their policies, so everything was clear. I picked up from their main kitchen in Canoga Park, which has a small parking lot that all of the kitchens share. There was no space inside to eat or hang out, it's more for just picking up. And no public restroom (so if your commute takes as long as mine did at almost 2 hours, you'll need to find another restroom). The staff was friendly and my order was ready when I arrived. I recently visited LA and saw this as one of the top rated Filipino desserts in the area. Although they are order only, they did a great job in helping me get a sampling of the sansrival variety they have to offer. I did call in advance to find out if I can do a select 4-different flavor, but it was only what they had available, which was fine. For those that don't know, sansrival is a filipino version of a dacquoise / merengue tart, traditionally made with butter and cashews. There's a bakery up here in Northern California that has produced quality sansrival , and my uncle has in fact made some before. They are difficult to make because of the individual dacquoise layers. Anyhow, these guys are family owned and friendly operating out of a commercial kitchen in LA. I was able to try their strawberry, cookies and creme, ube, pistachio, cashew, and birthday cake. So far I've tried the cashew, pistachio, strawberry and cookies and cream! They were all good to say the least. I also ordered during the week of my birthday, so that I can take it home back with me to the San Francisco area. It is best served frozen, since the nutty dacquoise layers are crunchy, also served refrigerated. The butter that they use is very creamy, and rich, you can instantly notice the savory / salty / sweet flavor you get with the variety of flavors offered. I think I have one more flavor to cross off my list the next time I head down, and that's coffee. Until next time! read more

Different but in a good way. I have never had a cake like this before and while we were in town for my sister's birthday, we wanted to get her something fun and saw this place. I love that you can get a whole cake a slice or any combination in between we chose to do the whole cake but with four different selections to have a nice variety and all of them were great. Please suggest keeping the cake frozen and now we understand because the way the frosting is and the wafer cake it is better to keep it frozen and hard. It's a different kind of cake because it's more of a wafer type cracker and it melts in your mouth. Kids and adults alike all thought it was great. The favorite was the chocolate and Ube. If you are looking for a different kind of cake that tastes really good and will make the people say "Wow!" you must get their Pistachio Cake but the best one I've tried is the Build Your Own Sans Rival: Buttercream - Matcha; Nut Filling - Pistachio; Topping - Ferrero. Thank me later I usually order via their website or you can give them a call. You have to pre-order at least a couple of days before. On a holiday (Christmas/New Year), I think you have to pre-order at least 3 weeks before the holiday just to be sure. They don't have a storefront, so you'll have to pick up the order in their kitchen. There are other vendors in the Kitchen pick-up place so be sure to get inside to find them.
