Probably the biggest and busiest Porto's I've been to and the newest. Huge parking lot and even so it's hard to find parking because it gets so busy. The lines inside are always long but because they have 2 separate stations, it goes by fairly quickly. You place your order and wait to the side until they call your name to pay. Everything they have tastes great, can't go wrong with the majority of items. My favorite is the chocolate Parisian, very light and not overly sweet. I really enjoy the breakfast sandwiches as well and lot of seating inside.

Memorial Day weekend brought the longest lines we've seen which extended all the way around the corner of the building. I still don't know how the staff does it but the line moved, our order taken, food boxed and checkout completed all within 35 minutes! This time there were no shortages (we came around 5pm) so not disappointed. Even our to go platas were readied quickly though the pager system wasn't working that day so we had to listen for our number and name (which was harder given the mass of people inside). I did appreciate the physical doublecheck on my order by one of the staff before I left the counter. Experiences like this will keep us coming back since there is still no location in NorCal.

Porto's is always packed, always busy and somehow still always worth it. The Cubano sandwich has been my go to for years!! Flavorful, perfectly pressed, and consistently good every single time. On this visit, I had the Medianoche. It's very similar to the Cubano but served on a softer, slightly sweet bread. Really good but the Cubano still wins for me. The potato balls are non negotiable. I genuinely can't leave without at least a dozen, they are THAT good!! I also ordered their Matcha Green Tea Latte with oat milk and it was perfect! Smooth, refreshing and not overly sweet. Anyway, the food is consistently delicious and it's one of those places that always keeps you coming back. 10/10 highly recommend!

This is my second review I came for the new Strawberry Shortcake and it was delicious, the filling was creamy with pieces of strawberry. The service was fast and the attendant was friendly. The ambiance was busy (around 2:45 p.m) the waiting line was moving fast .

Jasmine Matcha Latte I did adjust the filter , so the color profile for the beverage is not accurate, but the photo is so beautiful.

Went on Mother's Day with my daughter. The line was wrapped around the building at 9am, and we debated whether or not to go to a different breakfast place closer to Flyaway. My daughter asked and it was a 15 minute wait. The line went really fast. What an incredible business model this place has!! They have stations everywhere for different things. The sheer volume of people they serve with such grace and ease. All the staff are extremely friendly. The architectural design is quite beautiful, as well as the outdoor dining area. It was such a lovely way to spend the morning. I had the Torrejas - Cuban French Toast......Ohhhhh myyyy, that was seriously the best French toast I've ever had. What was so super cool about it is that the flavor profile was actually a combination of almond croissant, fruit tart and their guava sauce, all bundled in a crispy outside- but soft textured inside bite that is heavenly. Highly recommend. It's so funny, cause I literally was jonsing for the almond croissant and the fruit tart, and I ended up having it anyway inside the breakfast. They use croissant bread which takes it to another level... the fruit is really fresh. This plate can actually be shared with 2 Ppl. I actually filled up after one slice. I had fresh squeezed orange juice, it was fantastic. My daughter had the Blue Jasmin Matcha Latte, she was swayed by the color profile. and she had them make it half as sweet, but she couldn't taste the Jasmine that way. We both had guava cheese rolls. They are spectacular. we had a slice of the opera cake, which is like a tiramisu cake topped with a coffee chocolate liqueur. So light and decadent.

I love Porto's! This location (as with the others) is big and well-kept, very clean--despite being very busy all the time. I've been here a couple times for their cubano sandwich, chicken torta, honey vanilla matcha latte, and chocolate chip cookies--and of course, to bring some pastries back with me all the way to Fresno. Such a solid spot and popular for a reason!

Who doesn't love Porto's. Of course I stopped by one of the busiest time of the year, Easter Sunday. But to help with everything, pre order earlier for a pickup instead of waiting in line. Pick up time was around 12:30 which the parking lot was pretty crazy already. There's plenty of spots as it next to the Northridge mall. But people were driving up and down trying to find the closest spot. When we arrived, you could already tell the place was packed with the amount of cars and people walking out. But to my surprise, there was no line around the outside. It normally wraps around the building during the holidays. Inside, that was a different story. It was pretty busy already with the line. But with pre order and pickup, there's a separate section towards the restroom. Give or take five or six people ahead of me in line for pickup but there was LOADS already waiting for their number to be called. You show them your confirmation number and then a number is given to you. From there you wait for your order to be packed. Even though it was packed, it took maybe five minutes for my order to be ready. They call your number and name and then you're on your way. But when we were leaving, you could see the line wrapping around the place already. We got here in the nick of time. It does move swiftly and there's alway someone at the door to give you directions in which line to go to. Also, there was a line even if you wanted a table for dining. Never seen that before. But it's Porto's, we all love it and it'll alway be busy but it won't stop us from picking up the amazing baked goods. Tip, pre order for pickup. It'll save you loads of time.

Still a five for me! I can rave about the service and the food but it would be repeating myself from the last review. What I will add is that I am happy to see that food is served on compostible plates and there are bins to separate trash from recycables from compostibles. If you are eating on site and you happen to be outside, there is a cart with extra plates, napkins and utensils so you don't have to go inside and ask someone behind the counter.

Despite how huge this location is, it's always super packed and there's a reason; because it's one of the best bakeries you can go to. Been frequenting Porto's for years so I was insanely excited one was opening up so much closer to me. This has been my go to location since. There's a good deal of seating (still fills up fast, especially around meal times), it's bright and open, and there are different areas you can relax in (if you can find a table) like a "nook" like area, a "cafeteria" like area, and a "bar" like area with high tops. I don't know if I've ever ordered anything savory or sweet (bakery, drink, or food) that wasn't delicious. My all time favorite though is the Plato de Lechon: slow roasted pork, rice, pickled onions, and plantains. The balance of sweet, savory and acidic is perfection. Only a couple times has the pork been too fatty; otherwise, its tender and juicy and SO flavorful. Everything you order really is fresh and mouthwatering. Be prepared to to wait in long lines. Customer service isn't always the best, I've come across a couple of grumpy or disinterested employees, but that's rare. Despite it's size, and that it's in a mall parking lot, parking can be a hot commodity. Be prepared to not be able to park right in front.

Menu, terrible picture I know, sorry

Had Porto's so many times, love it, but it has always been to go, never eaten inside. I don't think there is a bad thing on the menu, at least I have not found one. Main entrees, pastries, deserts, drinks, everything is amazing and justify the long lines. Lechon platos Cubano sandwich, potato balls, meat pies, empanadas, guava pastries, etc. just a few of my favorites. This location is really cool inside and out. The building style is modern and sleek outside, inside is very pretty and clean. It is always busy, tons of people and lines, but the lines go really fast, so don't be discouraged if you see lines out the door. Inside white tile floors and wall with warm wood accents and dark ceilings. Cuban art on the walls, dark black tile coffee bar as well. This place is huge, tons of seating inside and they have a massive outdoor patio as well. They also have a huge private lot to park in or can park on the side of the mall as well. Enjoy!

Porto's is a MUST STOP whenever I'm in SoCal. We usually do the mail order bake-at-home to Colorado but the coconut strudel isn't available mail order (please, please, please make that happen!) so I usually end up ordering a box (or 2) to take home and freeze. What I ordered this time around: *COCONUT STRUDEL: We love these. Perfectly flakey with sugar crystals on top. Like I said above, they are perfect for freezing and baking later. *GUAVA CHEESE STRUDEL: Always a fave. *SEAFOOD BALLS: I really liked these. Crispy edges with potato (?) and seafood filling. Very filling. Two was plenty for me. *MEAT EMPANADA: This was really tasty. Meat wasn't too salty and the perfect size with maybe a salad. *PINEAPPLE EMPANADA *SCONES: I also took these home to freeze. Reheated in the oven. These were so perfect with tea. *MANGO MOUSSE: Light, not too sweet. This was perfect. I can see a mango mousse cake in our future. *MATCHA STRAWBERRY: I am addicted to this. Creamy, strawberry-y. Sooo good. Porto always delivers the freshest baked goods. Never disappoints. AND PLEASE ADD THE COCONUT STRUDEL TO YOUR MAIL ORDER MENU!!!!

Oatmeal Raisin Cookie , Chocolate Chip Cookie and the best churro croissant.

Went there for coffee event tho they were busy they still had a great and welcoming smile. I was help by Janet at the coffee bar, they served the best cortadito, also met Gloria and she was welcoming everyone coming in made the ambience feel so welcoming. I brought some pastries to the office. Let me tell you they will not stop talking about the pastries and how much they love it.

I've been hearing about this place forever. I actually tried a tiramisu cake before I ever actually came and it was amazing! My first time I tried to come on this last Mother's Day but unfortunately misunderstood the hours and couldn't go inside! Today, it was packed and the cases were FULL! I was absolutely so overwhelmed by all the choices! Everything was beautifully presented and smelled amazing! For how busy it was, and I'm talking every outside table taken, and at least 60-80 people just inside in line, they really got through it smoothly. No joke, I never have seen a bakery so busy but clearly with the size of the place, they planned on it. This place feels clean, and even with all the people it didn't feel stressed or rushed. I wish I didn't feel so personally overwhelmed by the incredibly large amount of choices and took more time to get more items! Next time I will definitely look and take note before I even go up to order! Every single thing I tried from the Ham + Cheese to the cheese roll, cinnamon roll, chicken empanadas and potato balls were exceptional! The fresh fruit tartlet- which I shared with my daughter was so good I half wished I got two! Definitely will be back again!! Next time I'm grabbing a coffee to go with it!

Porto's Bakery and Cafe Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Porto's Bakery and Cafe

    Do you Serve breakfast?

Porto's is a great place for breakfast!

Can I request mango to be on the fruit tarts for a special 100 year old birthday celebration?

Personally I would go in person!

Hi do you do custom made cookies if so whsts the price range?

No, Porto's does not make custom cookies.

What time do they start serving lunch?

Lunch starts at 10am...and just in case if anyone wants to know...last order to order breakfast is at 1030am.

Will pumpkin cheesecake slices be available soon?

You should just call the place to get the best, accurate answer.

What's the best selling sandwich at Portos?

Cuban sandwich, slow-roasted pork, sweet roasted ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, and Cuban dressing (mustard, mayonnaise, and house seasonings).

Hi do you do custom cupcakes for baby shower?

    Yes, they do.

    Long line. Hurry up?

Yes lines are long, especially around lunchtime. Better luck to go around 3:00 before schools get out

Do they let dogs in the outdoor seating?

    Yes, absolutely! They're pet friendly

Do you have any vegan cakes?

No Porto's doesn't have vegan cakes.

Will they ever bring back the original menu with all of the tasty danishes and cookies that they had prior to the COVID shutdown?? A lot of my favorites are not being offered :(

Your best bet is to just call them and ask.

How do I order King'd Bread!?

Call directly to place the order (818) 534-5210

Is there a time slot and day(s) when they have fewer people in line?

I had asked the cashier that exact question when I was there. The cashier's answer was when they first open at 6:30 am!

Can the bakers pipe inscriptions (ie., HAPPY BIRTHDAY) on any of the cakes?

They usually just give you a happy birthday sign to put on the cake. That was my experience but it never hurt to ask.

Is the catering menu back already? Smaller pieces and I think it used to be order of 50/100 pcs?

They recently told me I had to order the same size potato balls etc as sold in the bakery so I don't think the old catering menu with smaller pieces is back

Will Porto's be open on Labor Day? If so, what are the opening/closing hours?

They were open on Independence Day. The website says that they will be open till 630 - 430 ...holiday hours

How many people does the coffee cake serve?

Depends on how big you slice it, but you can get 8-10 pieces out of it.

How come I cannot order sandwiches?? It's not listed for pick up orders...?

Cannot place online orders for sandwiches or entrees at Buena Park location. Surprisingly, those items are available to order for delivery through UberEats. Just as surprisingly, UberEats won't let you order anything Pick-Up from Porto's.

Are there delivery services for pick up?

Portos no longer has in-car pick up. You can order pick up, but will need to go inside to the preorder counter.

    Is there Wifi?

    No there is not

The…read moreplace looked popular with tables filled on the patio and the pastries on display through the window looked intriguing so decided to take a chance and maybe get a small coffee and some pastries to try. There was a young man at the counter who welcomed us with a wonderful smile. He said his name is Said (pronounced Sa-eed) and asked if it was our first time here. We said it was, so he offered to give us some samples of their most popular bake goods. He said it is made of light custard and it's called soft cake and it is traditional pastry from his country in Uzbekistan that his mother bakes all from scratch. In Asia we also don't like overly sweet cakes so we thought it sounded to fit our taste preferences. And we loved it after trying! My mom said it tastes very similar to the cake she had back in Seoul in her childhood she misses fondly, but she could never have that same taste. Just a little sweeter. But the custard and texture of the cake is just the same. We also got the eclair. And it was pretty good too. But definitely recommend the soft cake!! Sooo yummyyy!! I also got the strawberry cold foam matcha latte and my mom got a small americano coffee. She said it's the best coffee she had in a cafe. Of course superb compared to Starbucks or any other coffee franchise. She says American coffee shops always burn their beans so it tastes burnt, but this place roasted the beans just right. And we also loved the strawberry cold foam matcha. I don't know how, but it tasted like really strawberry was in the drink!! My mom said it's the best strawberry milk she ever had here and in Korea! And she wants to order again when we come by next time. Overall a very enjoyable experience. Food and drinks were all prepared with such care, but given at a reasonable time. Some of these cafes take forever to make your drinks, even Starbucks makes you wait 20 minutes! These other coffee shops make it seem like they're doing some complex chemistry experiment how long it takes for just a drink! But this young guy he makes the drink in under 5 min and it tastes 10x better anything those other coffee shops make, but in less than half the time! I really thought maybe it was really hard making drinks, but this young dude makes it look like a walk in the park, the speed and ease he cranks out the drinks. I think Uzbekistan people must be just built different! and he was also so kind and pleasant taking the time to explain and answer all our questions. Some of these other places wouldn't even bother or make it feel like you're pulling a nail from them the way they grimace. He was so nice we wanted to give a tip, but he even said he didn't want us to. He'd happily accept just our enjoying the food and drinks and would appreciate if we left a review for his cafe. just had to leave a review. Especially after how nice he is. And hearing his story and how it's a family run bakery with the mom baking and son making drinks and running front counter. And an authentic European bakery!! Wow! Aren't we so glad they moved into our neighborhood! A Real quality cafe I didn't even know what I was missing until I stepped into this little shop by mere chance! I Will definitely come by again. And anyone else who discovers this little gem would be so lucky and blessed as us!

Sweet Granddaughter was having a blast, getting attention from 3 of her favorite adults, PLUS getting to pick her own sweets. What more could a six year old want? Overall, my favorite drink ended up being the brown sugar coffee for sure, and I'd definitely give this spot another try. Pricing ranges around $3-$20, which is pretty decent. The lines move quickly, the space is super spacious inside, and the staff was very friendly and helpful with any questions. Great attitude all around!

The food is always fresh, tasty, and very reasonably priced, which keeps us coming back. Some of our absolute favorites are the potato pirashki, cabbage pirashki, nacho cheese empanadas, and of course the custard and Nutella ponchiks--everything is always warm, flavorful, and perfectly made. Today my husband, who is very picky, decided to try their lahmajun for the first time. He loved it! It was crisp, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. That was another win for Papillon. Definitely worth trying a variety of their recipes--you really can't go wrong here.

My favorite pirozhki are with cabbage and potatoes. Both kinds are very slightly spiced and salted. The dough and the filling are temperature hot, tender and delicious. The potato ones resemble the softness and texture of yummy mashed potatoes. The cabbage ones taste like the cabbage was slightly sautéed before being deep-fried in the dough. Both kinds are incredibly good. The spot itself is more of a to-go spot, with only 2 tables available for dining in. The service is friendly and very efficient. They take your order and the cooking process starts. Will definitely come back for more pirozhki!

The dessert was just as good--soft, flavorful, and topped with the perfect crunch for contrast. You can tell Cafe 86 knows exactly what they're doing when it comes to ube. It's a great late-night dessert spot with a relaxed vibe and consistently solid quality. If you're an ube fan (or trying it for the first time), Cafe 86 is a must.

One thing to note: they open late--12:30 PM. Parking was easy, and there's a decent amount of seating inside. I happened to be the first customer of the day. Don't expect the warm, smiley Filipino hospitality right away--just head straight to the counter and place your order on the iPad. As for the halo-halo, it's definitely not your traditional version. It wasn't bad by any means, but it's quite different from the halo-halo I grew up with and the ones I enjoy whenever I visit Manila. If you're looking for a modern take on the classic dessert, you may appreciate it more than I did. Prices are pretty standard for Los Angeles, and they accept Apple Pay, which is always a plus.

I would like to give Abraham( cashier) a big shout out. I couldn't decide which cake slice to get so I asked him. He recommended me chocolate cake which was amazing. I really enjoyed the slice. I will make sure to get the same thing next time. This location is very clean and there is plenty of seats. They also have a nice outdoor seating area too. Parking is easy too since it is located in a shopping plaza. There were plenty of spots to park. Paris Baguette never disappoints. They always have the yummiest pastries.

We placed a pickup order for around $100 that included 3 drinks and 15 pastries. When we arrived, we gave our name for the order, and the employee only handed us one drink and two boxes without saying anything or confirming that everything was included. As we were leaving, we realized we were missing two drinks, so we went back inside. The employee barely acknowledged us and was still finishing the drinks. Another employee eventually came out and handed them to us, and the interaction made it feel like they were just trying to get us out of the store as quickly as possible. Before leaving, we specifically asked if everything was included, and we were told yes. Unfortunately, after driving the 35 minutes home, we discovered that we were still missing about five pastries from our order. By then, the store had already closed, so there was no way to contact anyone to resolve the issue. Mistakes happen, but for a $100 order, it's disappointing that no one took the time to verify it was complete--especially after we had already come back once because items were missing. We really enjoy Paris Baguette and hope this was an isolated incident, but we also hope more care is taken with future pickup orders so other customers don't have the same experience.
