Breakfast burrito (chile verde) and strawberry banana smoothie
    Milikailing N.

I've been here twice and I love it! Their desserts are so yummy. The first time I went was on a weekend and lines were long but quick. This second time I went it was on a weekday at around 9:30am and very light lines. As it started approaching lunch time, the lines began getting longer, so I recommend getting there early. My favorite dessert is the Napoleon which is a puff pastry with vanilla cream. I forgot to take a picture of it but its cream is light and the butter layer is nice and crunchy and pulls the whole dessert together. This last time I went I got the breakfast burrito that has chile verde, egg, cheese, avocado and beans. The green salsa that they provide on the side is also ready good, it has that home-made salsa flavor and texture. The meat in the burrito had good flavor and made a good combination with the egg. I would order again. The strawberry banana smoothie was alright. It tasted like frozen strawberries which I did not like the frozen taste. It had very thick chunks of ice and I would rate the smoothie like a 4/10. Nothing special and it is not something I will be ordering again. Overall I love Porto's and will always a must when going to LA.

This location is right next to Northridge Mall which has plenty of parking. Depending on the day and time, it can get pretty crowded but the line usually moves quickly since they have two line options inside. They have a great variety of pastries, food, drinks, and cakes. We usually get the potato balls, cheese rolls, and iced matcha latte. The matcha is good if you prefer your matcha on the sweeter side. They also have a variety of cakes which we usually pick up for special occasions. We have tried the fruit tart and milk and berries and both have been good! They have indoor and outdoor seating if you want to dine in.

Probably the biggest and busiest Porto's I've been to and the newest. Huge parking lot and even so it's hard to find parking because it gets so busy. The lines inside are always long but because they have 2 separate stations, it goes by fairly quickly. You place your order and wait to the side until they call your name to pay. Everything they have tastes great, can't go wrong with the majority of items. My favorite is the chocolate Parisian, very light and not overly sweet. I really enjoy the breakfast sandwiches as well and lot of seating inside.

My husband and I love coming to Porto's for a quick local date. It's become one of our favorite spots because the food is always fresh, delicious, and consistent. He *always* gets the lechon plate, and it never disappoints. I usually switch between a salad or the chicken rice plate depending on what I'm in the mood for, and both are always so good. Whether we're grabbing a quick lunch or enjoying a casual date, Porto's never fails us. Great food, great atmosphere, and definitely one of our favorite local spots!

Memorial Day weekend brought the longest lines we've seen which extended all the way around the corner of the building. I still don't know how the staff does it but the line moved, our order taken, food boxed and checkout completed all within 35 minutes! This time there were no shortages (we came around 5pm) so not disappointed. Even our to go platas were readied quickly though the pager system wasn't working that day so we had to listen for our number and name (which was harder given the mass of people inside). I did appreciate the physical doublecheck on my order by one of the staff before I left the counter. Experiences like this will keep us coming back since there is still no location in NorCal.

Porto's is always packed, always busy and somehow still always worth it. The Cubano sandwich has been my go to for years!! Flavorful, perfectly pressed, and consistently good every single time. On this visit, I had the Medianoche. It's very similar to the Cubano but served on a softer, slightly sweet bread. Really good but the Cubano still wins for me. The potato balls are non negotiable. I genuinely can't leave without at least a dozen, they are THAT good!! I also ordered their Matcha Green Tea Latte with oat milk and it was perfect! Smooth, refreshing and not overly sweet. Anyway, the food is consistently delicious and it's one of those places that always keeps you coming back. 10/10 highly recommend!

Jasmine Matcha Latte I did adjust the filter , so the color profile for the beverage is not accurate, but the photo is so beautiful.

Went on Mother's Day with my daughter. The line was wrapped around the building at 9am, and we debated whether or not to go to a different breakfast place closer to Flyaway. My daughter asked and it was a 15 minute wait. The line went really fast. What an incredible business model this place has!! They have stations everywhere for different things. The sheer volume of people they serve with such grace and ease. All the staff are extremely friendly. The architectural design is quite beautiful, as well as the outdoor dining area. It was such a lovely way to spend the morning. I had the Torrejas - Cuban French Toast......Ohhhhh myyyy, that was seriously the best French toast I've ever had. What was so super cool about it is that the flavor profile was actually a combination of almond croissant, fruit tart and their guava sauce, all bundled in a crispy outside- but soft textured inside bite that is heavenly. Highly recommend. It's so funny, cause I literally was jonsing for the almond croissant and the fruit tart, and I ended up having it anyway inside the breakfast. They use croissant bread which takes it to another level... the fruit is really fresh. This plate can actually be shared with 2 Ppl. I actually filled up after one slice. I had fresh squeezed orange juice, it was fantastic. My daughter had the Blue Jasmin Matcha Latte, she was swayed by the color profile. and she had them make it half as sweet, but she couldn't taste the Jasmine that way. We both had guava cheese rolls. They are spectacular. we had a slice of the opera cake, which is like a tiramisu cake topped with a coffee chocolate liqueur. So light and decadent.

I always enjoy coming back to this specific Porto's! They are very well organized when it comes to maintaining their crowds during rush hours. While I usually feel intimidated by long lines and sometimes rethink waiting in them, this is one that moves with ease. They've done their best at keeping things together and still maintaining great service :) My go to is the turkey crossiant sandwich, without fail, it's simple and delicious! Their strawberry matcha latte has stayed consistent since the first time I've had it, i would even say it's improved over time! I didn't picture the guava refugiados I got but I went on a Monday around 1pm, it was easy to get back into one of the lines to get my pastries to go!

I love Porto's! This location (as with the others) is big and well-kept, very clean--despite being very busy all the time. I've been here a couple times for their cubano sandwich, chicken torta, honey vanilla matcha latte, and chocolate chip cookies--and of course, to bring some pastries back with me all the way to Fresno. Such a solid spot and popular for a reason!

Really great salad and amazing coffee!!
    Lori G.

This Porto's is such a treat!! The pastries, the coffee, even the salads are so good!! Nothing compares to how good their pastries and Desserts are. I have received Porto's as a gift before trying this in person. And I was blown away by this in person cafe. My absolute favorite item is the guava pastry!! They even have delicious savory pastries such as the potato balls. This location had a constant line but it moved quickly. I would definitely recommend taking some pastries to go after dining here, since you will want more and anyone you share them with will love it!!

Who doesn't love Porto's. Of course I stopped by one of the busiest time of the year, Easter Sunday. But to help with everything, pre order earlier for a pickup instead of waiting in line. Pick up time was around 12:30 which the parking lot was pretty crazy already. There's plenty of spots as it next to the Northridge mall. But people were driving up and down trying to find the closest spot. When we arrived, you could already tell the place was packed with the amount of cars and people walking out. But to my surprise, there was no line around the outside. It normally wraps around the building during the holidays. Inside, that was a different story. It was pretty busy already with the line. But with pre order and pickup, there's a separate section towards the restroom. Give or take five or six people ahead of me in line for pickup but there was LOADS already waiting for their number to be called. You show them your confirmation number and then a number is given to you. From there you wait for your order to be packed. Even though it was packed, it took maybe five minutes for my order to be ready. They call your number and name and then you're on your way. But when we were leaving, you could see the line wrapping around the place already. We got here in the nick of time. It does move swiftly and there's alway someone at the door to give you directions in which line to go to. Also, there was a line even if you wanted a table for dining. Never seen that before. But it's Porto's, we all love it and it'll alway be busy but it won't stop us from picking up the amazing baked goods. Tip, pre order for pickup. It'll save you loads of time.

Porto's Bakery and Cafe Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Porto's Bakery and Cafe

    Do you Serve breakfast?

Porto's is a great place for breakfast!

Can I request mango to be on the fruit tarts for a special 100 year old birthday celebration?

Personally I would go in person!

Hi do you do custom made cookies if so whsts the price range?

No, Porto's does not make custom cookies.

What time do they start serving lunch?

Lunch starts at 10am...and just in case if anyone wants to know...last order to order breakfast is at 1030am.

Will pumpkin cheesecake slices be available soon?

You should just call the place to get the best, accurate answer.

What's the best selling sandwich at Portos?

Cuban sandwich, slow-roasted pork, sweet roasted ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, and Cuban dressing (mustard, mayonnaise, and house seasonings).

Hi do you do custom cupcakes for baby shower?

    Yes, they do.

    Long line. Hurry up?

Yes lines are long, especially around lunchtime. Better luck to go around 3:00 before schools get out

Do they let dogs in the outdoor seating?

    Yes, absolutely! They're pet friendly

Do you have any vegan cakes?

No Porto's doesn't have vegan cakes.

Will they ever bring back the original menu with all of the tasty danishes and cookies that they had prior to the COVID shutdown?? A lot of my favorites are not being offered :(

Your best bet is to just call them and ask.

How do I order King'd Bread!?

Call directly to place the order (818) 534-5210

Is there a time slot and day(s) when they have fewer people in line?

I had asked the cashier that exact question when I was there. The cashier's answer was when they first open at 6:30 am!

Can the bakers pipe inscriptions (ie., HAPPY BIRTHDAY) on any of the cakes?

They usually just give you a happy birthday sign to put on the cake. That was my experience but it never hurt to ask.

Is the catering menu back already? Smaller pieces and I think it used to be order of 50/100 pcs?

They recently told me I had to order the same size potato balls etc as sold in the bakery so I don't think the old catering menu with smaller pieces is back

Will Porto's be open on Labor Day? If so, what are the opening/closing hours?

They were open on Independence Day. The website says that they will be open till 630 - 430 ...holiday hours

How many people does the coffee cake serve?

Depends on how big you slice it, but you can get 8-10 pieces out of it.

How come I cannot order sandwiches?? It's not listed for pick up orders...?

Cannot place online orders for sandwiches or entrees at Buena Park location. Surprisingly, those items are available to order for delivery through UberEats. Just as surprisingly, UberEats won't let you order anything Pick-Up from Porto's.

Are there delivery services for pick up?

Portos no longer has in-car pick up. You can order pick up, but will need to go inside to the preorder counter.

    Is there Wifi?

    No there is not

With the name of Napoleon, I thought it was a French bakery. It turns out that they specialize in a number of European confections, including options from Eastern Europe. Without a lot of time before they were done for the day, Dear Hubby and I each chose a cake slice, and we got a cake pop for our Sweet Granddaughter. She got to pick the color icing she preferred, which was nice. The pricing seems fair, especially given the loving care that's gone into baking and decorating each baked treat. The…read moreplace looked popular with tables filled on the patio and the pastries on display through the window looked intriguing so decided to take a chance and maybe get a small coffee and some pastries to try. There was a young man at the counter who welcomed us with a wonderful smile. He said his name is Said (pronounced Sa-eed) and asked if it was our first time here. We said it was, so he offered to give us some samples of their most popular bake goods. He said it is made of light custard and it's called soft cake and it is traditional pastry from his country in Uzbekistan that his mother bakes all from scratch. In Asia we also don't like overly sweet cakes so we thought it sounded to fit our taste preferences. And we loved it after trying! My mom said it tastes very similar to the cake she had back in Seoul in her childhood she misses fondly, but she could never have that same taste. Just a little sweeter. But the custard and texture of the cake is just the same. We also got the eclair. And it was pretty good too. But definitely recommend the soft cake!! Sooo yummyyy!! I also got the strawberry cold foam matcha latte and my mom got a small americano coffee. She said it's the best coffee she had in a cafe. Of course superb compared to Starbucks or any other coffee franchise. She says American coffee shops always burn their beans so it tastes burnt, but this place roasted the beans just right. And we also loved the strawberry cold foam matcha. I don't know how, but it tasted like really strawberry was in the drink!! My mom said it's the best strawberry milk she ever had here and in Korea! And she wants to order again when we come by next time. Overall a very enjoyable experience. Food and drinks were all prepared with such care, but given at a reasonable time. Some of these cafes take forever to make your drinks, even Starbucks makes you wait 20 minutes! These other coffee shops make it seem like they're doing some complex chemistry experiment how long it takes for just a drink! But this young guy he makes the drink in under 5 min and it tastes 10x better anything those other coffee shops make, but in less than half the time! I really thought maybe it was really hard making drinks, but this young dude makes it look like a walk in the park, the speed and ease he cranks out the drinks. I think Uzbekistan people must be just built different! and he was also so kind and pleasant taking the time to explain and answer all our questions. Some of these other places wouldn't even bother or make it feel like you're pulling a nail from them the way they grimace. He was so nice we wanted to give a tip, but he even said he didn't want us to. He'd happily accept just our enjoying the food and drinks and would appreciate if we left a review for his cafe. just had to leave a review. Especially after how nice he is. And hearing his story and how it's a family run bakery with the mom baking and son making drinks and running front counter. And an authentic European bakery!! Wow! Aren't we so glad they moved into our neighborhood! A Real quality cafe I didn't even know what I was missing until I stepped into this little shop by mere chance! I Will definitely come by again. And anyone else who discovers this little gem would be so lucky and blessed as us!

I am grateful that their style seems to be to use less sugar than other bakeries. You can enjoy the sweetness without being overwhelmed by the sugar content. Later, AG was craving a coffee drink, so the oldest and youngest generation hopped in to the car and went out to get drinks and desserts. Sweet Granddaughter was having a blast, getting attention from 3 of her favorite adults, PLUS getting to pick her own sweets. What more could a six year old want? She's pretty discerning about baked goods, and even got her own tray. We had to pare back some of her selections. AG got his java jolt, and I was able to order a decaf crafted beverage that satisfied my taste buds. $48, four drinks, and multiple pastries to go later, we were headed out the door. Whew!
