Porto's saved me for my boyfriend's birthday. At a different company I was promised a pastry item for purchase for his birthday after 4pm. When that when that time came suddenly, they said that they didn't make it and I was down to the wire as I needed a cake the next morning! I went online and saw I could purchase a cake last minute at Porto's and it was seamless if not better than what I was planning! My boyfriend loves Tiramisu so it was perfect ! Went on June 24th at around the 5:40pm-6pm slot!: The staff was very professional and patient on the phone when I called to ask what to do since it was my first time doing a pre-order. In person the lady was really nice and easy to have conversation with while efficiently getting my cake out. Probably the biggest and busiest Porto's I've been to and the newest. Huge parking lot and even so it's hard to find parking because it gets so busy. The lines inside are always long but because they have 2 separate stations, it goes by fairly quickly. You place your order and wait to the side until they call your name to pay. Everything they have tastes great, can't go wrong with the majority of items. My favorite is the chocolate Parisian, very light and not overly sweet. The site stated my order was ready, I came in to pick it up I was a bit late even, when I arrived my pastries were ready but the drinks were not. We waited over 40 minutes for the drinks - I can tell the supervisor was trying her best to get the drinks over to us, she apologized many times - she kept running over to the drinks side to check on the drinks - finally when our drinks arrived, she apologized again and threw in a lemonade drink for my niece. I'm not gonna lie, I was planning to never return due to how long it took for the drinks - but because of her customer service skills, and how she genuinely felt bad and tried her hardest, I will definitely be returning. Porto's if you are reading this, your supervisor at the online orders area near the cakes, is phenomenal and she saved you guys 1 extra customer - I know you're busy and 1 customer won't make much a difference, but it says a lot about how an organization runs when it has employees like this who strive for great customer service. Memorial Day weekend brought the longest lines we've seen which extended all the way around the corner of the building. I still don't know how the staff does it but the line moved, our order taken, food boxed and checkout completed all within 35 minutes! This time there were no shortages (we came around 5pm) so not disappointed. Even our to go platas were readied quickly though the pager system wasn't working that day so we had to listen for our number and name (which was harder given the mass of people inside). I did appreciate the physical doublecheck on my order by one of the staff before I left the counter. Porto's is always packed, always busy and somehow still always worth it. The Cubano sandwich has been my go to for years!! Flavorful, perfectly pressed, and consistently good every single time. On this visit, I had the Medianoche. It's very similar to the Cubano but served on a softer, slightly sweet bread. Really good but the Cubano still wins for me. The potato balls are non negotiable. I genuinely can't leave without at least a dozen, they are THAT good!! I also ordered their Matcha Green Tea Latte with oat milk and it was perfect! Smooth, refreshing and not overly sweet. Went on Mother's Day with my daughter. The line was wrapped around the building at 9am, and we debated whether or not to go to a different breakfast place closer to Flyaway. My daughter asked and it was a 15 minute wait. The line went really fast. What an incredible business model this place has!! They have stations everywhere for different things. The sheer volume of people they serve with such grace and ease. All the staff are extremely friendly. The architectural design is quite beautiful, as well as the outdoor dining area. It was such a lovely way to spend the morning. I had the Torrejas - Cuban French Toast......Ohhhhh myyyy, that was seriously the best French toast I've ever had. What was so super cool about it is that the flavor profile was actually a combination of almond croissant, fruit tart and their guava sauce, all bundled in a crispy outside- but soft textured inside bite that is heavenly. Highly recommend. It's so funny, cause I literally was jonsing for the almond croissant and the fruit tart, and I ended up having it anyway inside the breakfast. They use croissant bread which takes it to another level... the fruit is really fresh. This plate can actually be shared with 2 Ppl. I actually filled up after one slice. I had fresh squeezed orange juice, it was fantastic. My daughter had the Blue Jasmin Matcha Latte, she was swayed by the color profile. and she had them make it half as sweet, but she couldn't taste the Jasmine that way. We both had guava cheese rolls. What stands out just as much as their amazing food and drinks is the attentive and efficient customer service. Even when its busy, the system they have in place ensures that customers have a great experience. I originally scheduled a cake pick up for 7pm but happened to be in the area around 5 pm and they were able to accommodate the early pick up. Also ordered food and while waiting by the cake station, Guillermo checked if I needed anything which gave me the chance to tell him how impressive their customer service is. During my visit, I noticed an employee training a new hire and was impressed by the attention to detail, even down to teaching the proper way to hold and carry a tray. As we were talking, my food order became ready, and Guillermo kindly offered to grab it for me while I continued waiting for my cake. Simple gestures like that honestly makes the biggest difference. Despite being a large and busy establishment, Porto's still manages to feel like a local neighborhood spot where you're treated like family. Who doesn't love Porto's. Of course I stopped by one of the busiest time of the year, Easter Sunday. But to help with everything, pre order earlier for a pickup instead of waiting in line. Pick up time was around 12:30 which the parking lot was pretty crazy already. There's plenty of spots as it next to the Northridge mall. But people were driving up and down trying to find the closest spot. When we arrived, you could already tell the place was packed with the amount of cars and people walking out. But to my surprise, there was no line around the outside. It normally wraps around the building during the holidays. Inside, that was a different story. It was pretty busy already with the line. But with pre order and pickup, there's a separate section towards the restroom. Give or take five or six people ahead of me in line for pickup but there was LOADS already waiting for their number to be called. You show them your confirmation number and then a number is given to you. From there you wait for your order to be packed. Even though it was packed, it took maybe five minutes for my order to be ready. They call your number and name and then you're on your way. But when we were leaving, you could see the line wrapping around the place already. We got here in the nick of time. It does move swiftly and there's alway someone at the door to give you directions in which line to go to. Also, there was a line even if you wanted a table for dining. Never seen that before. But it's Porto's, we all love it and it'll alway be busy but it won't stop us from picking up the amazing baked goods. Tip, pre order for pickup. It'll save you loads of time. read more

What I will add is that I am happy to see that food is served on compostible plates and there are bins to separate trash from recycables from compostibles. Despite how huge this location is, it's always super packed and there's a reason; because it's one of the best bakeries you can go to. Been frequenting Porto's for years so I was insanely excited one was opening up so much closer to me. This has been my go to location since. There's a good deal of seating (still fills up fast, especially around meal times), it's bright and open, and there are different areas you can relax in (if you can find a table) like a "nook" like area, a "cafeteria" like area, and a "bar" like area with high tops. I don't know if I've ever ordered anything savory or sweet (bakery, drink, or food) that wasn't delicious. My all time favorite though is the Plato de Lechon: slow roasted pork, rice, pickled onions, and plantains. The balance of sweet, savory and acidic is perfection. Only a couple times has the pork been too fatty; otherwise, its tender and juicy and SO flavorful. Everything you order really is fresh and mouthwatering. Be prepared to to wait in long lines. Customer service isn't always the best, I've come across a couple of grumpy or disinterested employees, but that's rare. Despite it's size, and that it's in a mall parking lot, parking can be a hot commodity. Be prepared to not be able to park right in front. read more

Had Porto's so many times, love it, but it has always been to go, never eaten inside. I don't think there is a bad thing on the menu, at least I have not found one. Main entrees, pastries, deserts, drinks, everything is amazing and justify the long lines. Lechon platos Cubano sandwich, potato balls, meat pies, empanadas, guava pastries, etc. just a few of my favorites. This location is really cool inside and out. The building style is modern and sleek outside, inside is very pretty and clean. It is always busy, tons of people and lines, but the lines go really fast, so don't be discouraged if you see lines out the door. Inside white tile floors and wall with warm wood accents and dark ceilings. Cuban art on the walls, dark black tile coffee bar as well. We usually do the mail order bake-at-home to Colorado but the coconut strudel isn't available mail order (please, please, please make that happen!) so I usually end up ordering a box (or 2) to take home and freeze. Like I said above, they are perfect for freezing and baking later. *GUAVA CHEESE STRUDEL: Always a fave. *SEAFOOD BALLS: I really liked these. Crispy edges with potato (?) and seafood filling. Very filling. Two was plenty for me. *MEAT EMPANADA: This was really tasty. Everything at Porto's is SO good it never disappoints! Today I picked up a chocolate croissant, an almond croissant, and a dozen chocolate chip cookies. The croissants were perfectly flaky and buttery, and the chocolate was rich without being too sweet. The almond croissant had that amazing nutty flavor with just the right amount of sweetness. 2 stars ONLY because for the first time, they made my order wrong, I didn't notice it untiI got home because it was at the very bottom of the bag. I ordered 1 Tuna Melt, 2 Platos de Lechon and an extra side of black beans (which by the way I think was too pricey for a side $4.50 and it isn't even a decent portion). When I got home to eat it for lunch, that's when I saw that one of the Platos de Lechon is missing the black beans. Luckily I ordered extra on the side so I had something to eat otherwise I would have been really really really pissed of. But yes, I was disappointed because I love the beans which is why I had to order extra only to find out it isn't an extra beans anymore due to the fact that one of the Platos de Lechon was missi g the beans and that I had to pay extra just so I could eat that beans! I really hope that this will not happen again next time and staff should always double check and make sure they understood what their customers want and ordering. On the bright ride, I still did enjoy my food eventhough I didn't get to have extra beans. Oh and that Tuna Melt was so delicious too!! Ambience is the same. I remember the days when I would get up at 6 am, speed travel to Porto's Burbank, to get in line early, avoid the traffic, and bring back home all the goodies. It was a long arduous haul. Numerous years of endless suffering. The Gods witnessed my struggle, heard my prayers, and opened this impressive location in Northridge. It is dynamite. Opens at 6:30 am, lots of parking, scintillating cuban music throughout, and all the mouthwatering savories and sweets for which, Porto's is most famous. Meat pies, potato balls, chocolate croissants, guava cheese strudels, soups, are consistent. Fruit tarts are hit or miss. Its that crust, that is sometimes so hard. There are other areas, though, that they have also overdone. The new chocolate eclairs are overdosed with too much chocolate (now even on top, lots of it). Sugar yes, but why add more and more. Why not stick with the original simple recipe. Old is Gold. The chocolate croissant, is perfectly balanced. The candied bacon turkey sandwich claims an "all natural oven roasted turkey breast". Really? Is this not a misnomer, because it's not freshly baked turkey. And Instead, it is Deli meat, a highly processed and salted product, that has preservatives and chemicals. I actually came for this sandwich, thinking it would be fresh, then declined after I inquired and learned the truth, about what the turkey meat was really all about. Sorry. read more

This Portos is like other locations. Follow the line outside then wait to go inside. The outside line takes about 30 minutes then another 20 minutes inside. Then another 20 minutes for the food to come out. Order what looks good. One should be sure to get a few cheese rolls, pototoe balls and empanadas. I enjoy the chicken plate. My parents had a turkey sandwich with candied bacon and banana chips. Sandwich was big enough to share if paired with other items. Seating is tricky. Send someone to find a table. The cheese rolls were warm and flaky, the potato balls had that perfect crispy shell, and the guava and cheese strudel basically ruined every other pastry for me. Everything tasted fresh, made with care, the real deal. But what took this from "great bakery" to "I'm telling everyone I know" was Jaime. His recommendations were spot on, and he got us what we needed before we even knew we needed it. That's true hospitality. Still the most tasty mega bakery around , every pastry is a hit of flavor, ordering pick up is the way to go as the make it so easy and inviting when you do online ordering. Oh my goodness this Porto's is HUGE and was crazy packed on a Sunday around 1pm. Luckily I ordered and paid online ahead of time a few hours earlier for pick up, so we didn't have to wait in the long line outside. We went straight inside all the way to the left where the pick up is located and only waited 5 minutes or so after checking in for our items. Porto's never fails! They are consistently good, no matter the location. I recently got a cinnamon coffee cake from Porto's, and it's without a doubt the best I've ever had. The cinnamon coffee cake is a pound cake filled with cinnamon pecan streusel and has icing drizzled on top. It was so moist; it's been a while since I've had a cake that good.
