She walked in to the vegetables section and tried to look at her balance in her phone but the Internet wasn't working. She turned around to exit and was stopped for suspicion of shoplifting? While having lunch in the area I was going to look for pork soup bones and fresh veggies for an impromptu Tex Mex soup/chowder with what ever I find because I'm not using any recipe. The Pig was in the lot of the restaurant and maybe I won't go to Rays for bones and see what's in the Pig I thought. As you walk in and look around it's quit apparent that this store is the Pig that crashed into El Rey foods with all the Mexican food store looks. The deli is big and the fresh meat case looks something out of a Mexican grocery store. An authentic looking Mexican bakery was on the right as you walk in but I have no sweet tooth, I will take some more pictures on my next visit because I was on a mission today. I saw lots of hot pre cooked food on steam tables and hot spots with chicken etc. I found everything that I thought I could use for my Tex Mex idea and Rays will not be a stop today. I was utterly disgusted and dismayed when checking out of the Cambridge store to find out they do NOT offer a senior discount on Tuesdays as many others do. I'm appalled that greed and profit in this particular store over-rides customer service and satisfaction. Discrimination is not a particularly pleasant word to use in this instance, but it certainly describes what is being practiced at this store. I would advise others in this particular age bracket to go elsewhere if saving 5% is a nice perk. read more

On February 16th, 2024, I went to Piggly Wiggly in Bayview, 123 West Oklahoma, on my lunch hour at 1:45 PM. As I entered the store, I was rudely instructed to leave my bag at the front desk. I refused, as I have in the past. This store has the audacity to display a handwritten scribble of a sign, barely legible with a depleting Black Sharpie, stating, "Large backpacks and bags must be left at the front desk." Let me be clear: I carry a simple small Ameri-Bag, not some oversized backpack. https://ameribag.com/ In it, I have my wallet, containing cash, credit cards, my driver's license, and social security card. Additionally, I carry my cellphone, medication (which is a controlled substance), my car and house keys, and my prescription progressive reading glasses, which were very expensive. Yet, despite the importance of these items, they have the nerve to treat me like a criminal. As I proceeded to shop for groceries, I encountered a confrontational employee named Jarlisha, who wasn't even wearing a badge or uniform. She had the audacity to demand that I leave my bag at the front desk. How am I supposed to trust someone who may or may not even work there with my personal belongings? All she could parrot was, "it's our policy." I snapped back, emphasizing that it's a small bag, akin to a purse, and I've never been required to leave it at the front desk before. But of course, she had no valid response and simply walked away. After 35 minutes of enduring the hell that is grocery shopping, I approached the check-out line, allowing two individuals to go ahead of me as I had a full cart of food. But when I attempted to pay, the cashier had the gall to inform me that I couldn't be checked out because I hadn't left my bag at the front desk. Unbelievable! They let me shop, load up my cart, place everything on the belt, only to be denied service because I refused to comply with their absurd policy. Needless to say, I was beyond furious. Why should anyone be expected to surrender their personal belongings at the front desk? They clearly don't trust their customers, yet they expect us to trust them with our cash, wallets, credit cards, social security cards, driver's licenses, cell phones, car keys, and even controlled substances. It's outrageous and completely unacceptable. I refuse to patronize a business that treats its customers with such disrespect and disdain. Consider this my warning to anyone considering shopping at Piggly Wiggly in Bayview - unless you enjoy being treated like a criminal, take your business elsewhere. read more

I placed a large order for chicken from the deli of 144pcs. The chicken was so bad everyone at the party commented on the chicken. It was overcooked and dry. It had absolutely no flavor at all! I always order from here but was very disappointed considering I have over 3 pans of chicken I couldn't even give away. My guests didn't want any so it was tossed out. When we used to get points towards our gas, we shopped here more often. But the gas station they paired with has since closed. There have been many times that I have come for specific items that they haven't had stocked. Far too often there are lots of people with terrible BO going on too. When I come here, it's a quick stop for something or booze. Their prices are comparable to Pick N Save. I do like their produce, they always seem to have avocados, which is nice. But they never carry special seasonal produce like cotton candy grapes. The staff are really friendly. They do have a Mexican pastry shop in their store too. I have never tried their desserts but they look delicious. They're always busy when I walk by. The one thing I find really convenient about this location is that there is a redbox here. I like to be able to grab a movie here and there. read more

GREAT: Mexican groceries - BAD: Expired products. FIVE STARS for the GREAT Mexican produce, groceries, and freshly prepared tamales, salsas, and etc. The salsas are fantastic--fresh tasting and better than anything I've bought before from any major supermarket chain. They usually have a variety of styles near the deli counter. Moreover, this store in general has a pretty decent selection of international grocery staples. This store's produce department is also pretty good--cheaper than nearby Pick n Save's (and with a larger floor space, so it feels much less crowded during these these social distancing days). Unfortunately, the rest of the store is disappointing. Selection isn't as good--or as fresh-- as Pick n Save's, and EXPIRATION DATES are often EXPIRED. ...SO CHECK THEM religiously if you do shop here. Have often seen expired packaged cheeses, nuts, expired meat still on the sales floor. And the 6-pack of craft beer ("Day Tripper Pale Ale") we bought here last week--June 2020--evidently expired in September 2019 (...and it wasn't even on sale). tl;dr: Get Mexican foods and produce here. Much better than the Pick 'n Save around the block, plus, more fun to say than Pick 'n Save. I think being able to say, Piggly Wiggly, out loud, is worth the shopping trip here alone. It never gets old for me. Reasonably clean, fair prices, adequate produce, and a surprising selection of Eastern European goods (four different brands of frozen pierogi!). The drawbacks, like for too many Milwaukee area supermarkets, not enough human beings working (I learned to shop at grocery stores in the 1970s, I like to have a well paid human cashier and a human bagger who knows how to double bag paper and fill to capacity, if I forget to bring in my canvas grocery bags), and very light on the seafood selections. When I quickly walked through this Piggly Wiggly, I noticed they offer a lot more ingredients that cater to Latin cuisine than most Piggly Wiggly stores. I must be honest I didn't come to the store for the groceries. I was on a mission to buy the tres leches cake from the bakery my friend introduced me to. The bakery is called Azteca Bakery and its located on the left side of the grocery store. It's a small bakery that offer cakes, cookies, and other sweets. I was worried at first considering the lady behind the counter started speaking Spanish to me. I didn't quite understand what she said, but I spoke in English and pointed to the cake I wanted. I found out she can speak English and she was very friendly. I ended up buying the vanilla tres leches for my friend's birthday. It was nice that there were beautifully decorated ready-made cakes to choose from the glass display case. I didn't have to order it in. I love the moistness of the cake. I didn't think it was too sweet. I must say the cake stayed moist and tasty even after staying in my fridge for 4 days (My friend and I couldn't meet earlier). Of course, I wouldn't recommend it to sit in the fridge for that long. It is meant to be eaten right away. As for service, the staff was very nice. I was offered a free birthday topper for the cake I bought. Plus, they showed me a book of cakes for special occasions like weddings, baptisms, and more. The cake designs are more old fashioned, but I think they can work with you interests (I think...don't quote me on that though). The prices for a cake that serves 150 people was about $200. I think that is a pretty good deal. I will definitely come back to try the chocolate tres leches cake and other pastries. read more

Yes, it's only three blocks from my house, but it's still a good store. First time ever I decided to create my own fish fry here and the results were good. Three types of fish, two white and 1 catfish...all were good. I added pulled pork and a three bean salad and for $9 total had the most unique fish fry ever. The Hot bar is new and they change up the offerings often. It;s not a closely monitored hot bar, so you might want to stir up some of the items...but they are trying hard to get it going. The catfish was excellent and mild tasting. Probably the first time I've eaten it in a decade. There is a second salad bar and a third "wing" bar at a lower cost. So experiment with your fish fry for a change. There is an in-house liquor department, so grab a micro-brew as well to finish your meal. read more

This store can be frustrating. It may be slightly better than the Pick on Holt, but it's still not great. They started out with people actually bagging for you. It was retro and quite awesome. The last few times I've been in they haven't had anyone bagging. Bait and switch story showing poor customer service: I went into the store with a "double coupon" thing and a few coupons. One of my manufacturer's coupons was refused. They told me that corporate put it on a list to refuse. They further said that it was fraudulent. However, it's available through a major retailer's website, so I don't believe it's fraudulent. I emailed corporate and gave them a chance to keep my business. I was contacted, but all I've received is the equivalent of "too bad so sad." It's not the coupon amount, but the principle of the thing that gets me here. They could have a least apologized and comped me some minor thing. Rather they've dug in as if they did nothing wrong. So there you go. It's a grocery store. Like all the others except possible Outpost around here it's not great. read more

Pros: 1) The staff is nice at this Piggly Wiggly. 2) Some of their deals can't be beat; it helps to keep their ads in your rotation to strike great pricing. 3) The rewards card makes it worth while if you're looking to save money on gas. 4) The Mexican bakery located within this Piggly Wiggly is a nice touch and offers a variety of authentic Mexican, freshly baked goods. Cons: 1) The produce isn't the greatest. Even after thoroughly inspecting all my fruits and veggies prior to purchasing them, which takes awhile, since you're going through items that are nearing their time, I've noticed produce from this Piggly Wiggly does not last long. Expect to use your products within one to two days of purchasing. 2) I do NOT buy meat/seafood from here. Reason being: though the deals are great on their meat/seafood, I've noticed that many of the packaged meats in the coolers look discolored/not so fresh. Same goes for the fish. I've bought steaks from here once; let's just say never again. 3) If you need to use the bathroom, avoid the ones here like the plague. I've used the bathrooms here numerous times on various days and they still look awfully disgusting. As it goes in the restaurant business, you can judge general cleanliness by how kept the bathrooms are; this is why I tend to avoid the "ready made" or "hot food" sections. read more

The Butchers at Piggly Wiggly are the best. I like the meat here. I like the produce. The only thing I do not like about this Piggly Wiggly is there is no such thing as a quick trip in this store. This is my only complaint the check out lines are too long. I just do not understand how a store in the afternoon when people are coming home from work and there are only 2 check out lanes open. This is not an occasional thing this happens often so much so that I do not frequent this store as much as I could. I actually drive further to Oakcreek or go to Pete Fruit Market or El Rey and guess what it is further away. but even with the longer drive I get in and out of the store in less time. read more

This grocery store is about a 7 min drive from the airport. If you need to pick up groceries before or after your flight, come here. It is a large grocery store with a really good selection of international foods. Lots of Indian, European, Mexican (mostly Goya products) and Asian food. The cheese selection, however, wasn't as good as Woodman's. They do have cheese curds at least and a basic selection of cheese. The junk food aisle is good too- good variety of Chex mix, lots of chips. You should get a store discount card to take advantage of the good prices. read more

Easily the largest of the area's Piggly Wiggly stores, I really don't think there is another American chain grocery store that can match its large and diverse ethnic foods department in southeast Wisconsin. Sure, grocery stores basically sell the same general merchandise, but here the main attraction in my opinion is the rows of shelves containing products from Latin America, Asia and surprisingly Europe. Add to this large deli, meat and produce departments plus up to 10 doubled-coupons $1 ($2) on weekends with a $25 minimum purchase and you have a winning combination. The store's six or eight page weekly flyer also features bonus coupons and further savings can be had with its loyalty "Pig" Card. Everyone likes to save money and this is one place it can be done, especially on weekends. read more

This store is brand spanking new as I write this review, so maybe they'll get better. In short its just a nicer, cleaner, Hispanic reincarnate of Sentry. I was not a fan of Sentry when it was here. It has fewer check outs then the previous store (smart... what store ever uses them all when they have so many?!). They have a card that you can use when you shop to earn gas money (not useful to us, we don't drive). Things are pretty much in the same areas they were before the renovation, except for a Mexican bakery installation (cash only at the time of writing this, you don't purchase this bakery with the rest of your groceries) and the floral moved. There is a second, regular grocery store bakery. I didn't look hard but the area for buying lottery tickets and bus tickets/ passes moved or is non-existent (I loved the convenience of that area!). The store does feel a bit cramped, maybe I'm thinking back to the days of Sentry which was a little more spacious. I was hoping they would really do something to make this a place to go, something special. A better store to take the place of Sentry. But its only a little better. Its really just another mass market grocery store... not surprised but a little disappointed. Prices are not impressive for the merchandise they have on hand. The only major shift in the store has been a heavier Hispanic influence (pinatas, hispanic meat section? [didn't get close enough to look], the bakery... this isn't a bad thing it just isn't that special "something" that makes me want to go there instead of another store). I went during the soft opening and heard two complaints from customers right off the bat. Overall, meh its okay. I'll still go to my regulars instead of here. I gave this store a 3 because if Sentry were still there I'd only give it a 2 and I said this place is a slight improvement on the old. A fellow Yelper encouraged me to give this Piggly Wiggly another shot. So I did. And I've been back many times just to make sure. First, the meat department has remained clean (as far as the customer can see). Although, I still wouldn't rate their quality of meat very high. It is what it is... mass produced. What else? Large produce selection. Very large selection of deli items. And my favorite thing about this store is their selection of ethnic foods. They have isles dedicated to German, Polish, Mexican, and Italian. It's kinda cool, and they do have a good number of authentic items. It's not just a few shelves of "Americanized" stuff. Customer service still feels like it is generally lacking. And I avoid the customer service desk when I can. read more

Don't fall for their "Bait and Switch" policy. They will put several things in their weekly flyer at a "loss leader" price and then purposely not buy enough to satisfy even the smallest demand. Hello all, My last review of this place was quite negative, but ALL THAT IS FIXED NOW. The produce department is a happy place, with a large selection of new items while retaining an emphasis on Latino specialties. As a lifelong cook I am very picky about the quality and freshness of produce. The vegetables are well kept, with attention being paid to freshness and keeping stock in good shape while on display. Fruit is usually good, but being selective and shopping with the seasons is always wise. Excellent selection of Indian, Mexican and European packaged groceries. Delicious Mexican style bakery inside store separate from the bakery dept. I am thrilled this new grocery store opened in the area. I was nervous because the Pick and Save around the corner and Sentry that was previously in this building were both kind of dirty, really busy, and always missing the things I needed. Enter the Piggly Wiggly... Amazing customer service, great selection of produce, good prices... I am a happy camper. Now, there are a few things you need to know about this Pig, they have food from all over the globe and you should try some. I took a chance and bought some canned chickpea tahini mix to use as a base for hummus, it's from Greece it couldn't be half bad right? RIGHT- it was awesome! They have food from China, Italian, Germany, Poland and all over but what they really specialize in is carrying Central American specialties. What I like best about this is that they have people doing demos on Sunday and they will tell you all about what the food is and how to prepare it. The produce aisles are filled with things I have never even heard of. Sometimes I find that there are things I would get at say the Metro Market that I can't find at the Pig such as Italian Turkey Sausage from the butcher, but I would say 95% of the time they have everything I need and more. If you live in the area and you are tired of the same out store, I highly suggest trying this one out if for nothing else but to expand your palette with foreign delicacies! read more

Piggly Wiggly- can I just start by saying that this is probably my favorite chain grocery store name? Well, I did. It just makes me think of the murals at Usinger's with the gnomes catching the pigs before they go to the butchers. Anyways, this particular location is pretty great. I visited earlier this year, and it's definitely gotten better. (They just opened late last year.) I was just stopping in quickly to grab some last-minute dinner stuffs, so I didn't get a chance to check everything, but I need to mention how awesomely fresh the produce was. And cheap. So cheap. Like, Pete's Produce-cheap, El Rey-cheap, Pacific Produce-cheap. And there's a pretty wide variety, so you don't have to make multiple stops, say if you need bok choy, leeks, beets, cilantro and red peppers in one night. .. So, high-five Piggly Wiggly for your rad produce selection. Other thing I noticed, they carry a TON of hispanic products (canned, bottled, etc). AWESOME. read more

I shopped the meat department & purchased the Certified Angus Beef. It was great. Since my granddaughter was born, I really pay attention to organics (for certain items...prices anywhere can be an issue). I am able to get organic milk and eggs at a good price. After talking to the store manager about a need for Chobani Greek yogurt for kids, sure enough it appeared! I appreciate when a store listens to the needs of a customer. I'll shop again! read more

I know it is odd to review a grocery store. After all, what am I going to say, their frozen pizza is better than another store's frozen pizza. But this piggly wiggly is different. It has a huge selection of mexican, middle eastern, and other ethnic foods. You want a selection of English Pub Curry sauces, they have it. Also, the prices are great. Way lower than the Pick n' Save on the same block. Here is the best part, it is not super busy. The store always has some customers, but Pick n' Save is much busier, even though it is dirty, expensive, and never has any lanes open. My family loves Piggle Wiggly. read more

The cashiers at this store need to be trained in good customer service skills prior to being put on the floor. It is obvious that most of the cashiers have no prior customer service experience. It is then the store's responsibility to make sure these folks are properly trained or possess the proper skills before letting them run the register. This store is highly lacking in that area.
