With three younger kids, finding time for haircuts isn't easy, so having a place that offers Sunday appointments is a huge win for us. First impression walking in was a little confusing--we didn't realize there was seating toward the back and ended up standing near the front for a few minutes before figuring it out. Once back there though, it made a lot more sense. There's definitely no shortage of merchandise--shelves are packed with kid-focused items, almost to the point of being a bit overwhelming. That said, it kept the kids entertained. The train table in the back was a hit, and my older son spent most of the time checking out the diecast sports cars. The stylists did a great job with both boys' haircuts and actually took the time to listen to what we--and the kids--wanted, which doesn't always happen at places like this. Pricing was in line with other quick-cut spots, but the results were noticeably better than some of the more generic family haircut chains we've tried. But now that he just turned 3 I figured it was time to give this place a shot. Our hair stylist did a great job (Mary, or Maria maybe?) She talked him through it, let him touch the clippers and went quickly. He got to sit in a cool police car and they had a fun train table in the waiting area. I can't say enough good things about this place! It was my twins first haircut and Miss Yaya took amazing care of them. She was extremely patient and accommodating (she patiently let me take tons of pictures), and gave them the cutest haircuts ever! She made them both feel like princesses with glitter and holding up the mirror to see, and just being so sweet to them. They left with huge smiles, a sucker, and some goodies from the little treasure chest - they have been begging me to go back. I keep explaining we have to let their hair grow, haha. Even the other employees made us all so comfortable - checking in periodically to see if we needed anything, getting excited with the girls for their haircuts, etc. I took my older daughter here a few months ago (she is 12) and we loved it, they did a great job and that's why we brought the twins. My son will actually tolerate getting a haircut here. It's the combination of the little tv's - a tv for each child's "chair"... the "chairs" are actually cars and trucks, the slide and other kids being present. We had booked a haircut at an adult salon the day before, but my son who is currently 2 1/2 screamed, fought and cried... we ended up leaving with no haircut doing the walk of shame out of the salon. At his age, this place is perfect. His chair was a firetruck which he loved. Once he saw the smock coming, he started to panic, but his stylist was really good at calming him down, plus I put on his favorite show and gave him his pacifier which really helped. I've taken my daughters to this salon for years and the haircuts aren't always perfect but they are good enough for a kids cut. Today my daughters cut was so uneven I had to ask the stylist to stop cutting. First, I had to point out that an entire section of her head a completely different length, as she was attempting to "fix" , it it just kept getting shorter and shorter without getting any better. She wasn't even using her hands as a guide by the end. She was just cutting "straight" across. Not even sectioning her hair OR using water. Just dry cut thick straight hair with ponytail indents in it. I finally had to ask her to stop. I was in tears, I could not believe how horrible this cut was and I knew I would have to take her elsewhere to get it fixed. The nice girl at the front didn't want me to pay for it and called the owner. The owner felt I should still pay for half of what the service cost. I cancelled my other daughters appointment. I took my 4 month old for his 1st haircut so naturally I was very anxious and nervous. But I was able to have my baby sit on my lap & hold him different ways to make for a comfortable experience. My baby is naturally curious so he wanted to look at everything but Karla was patient and took her time to cut his hair. My daughter had her first haircut here. We didn't get to schedule an appointment ahead of time but they were able to accommodate us. I wasn't sure how my toddler would react but they were just so accommodating, and they even asked my toddler what she wanted to watch on tv. I always take my son to a different salon, however they were completely booked and I needed to get his haircut for his party that's in 2 days. I went online and booked and appointment, to my surprise they were completely open with plenty of spots. We arrived on time and was taken back in a timely manner. When it was time to ask what I wanted for his hair, I explained "0 on the bottom, fade up, and trim top". I was told she would not do it because "that's a man's haircut" but that she could do 1/2. Highly disappointed, our other "kid only" place does it just fine. I let her do it how she said she had to. Long story short, never again. It's not even, not faded correctly, edged way too high above the ear, moved his hairline up a good inch. She did a great job on the little girl ahead of us, but maybe not fit for boys. I really hope that the person reading these reviews looks into finding people that are actually good at doing boy haircuts. My kid has been getting haircuts since he was one year old. He does not move at all. He doesn't make a sound. It should be very easy to cut his hair. Instead of just telling your customers sorry come back and will fix it. Check into finding highly certified kid barbers. I'm just so sad because now he has a botched haircut for his birthday party. read more

Been to both San Antonio locations and while I was not completely impressed with the haircut precision my kids got at either place, I didn't complain since their hair grows fast. However, the location at The Rim provided the worst and most ridiculous costumer service I've ever experienced at a business. I had an appointment at 1:00pm. I called the salon to let them know that I would be a few minutes late. The young lady said that as long as I arrived within 10 minutes past my appointment that I would be fine. I arrived exactly at 1:10pm according to my iPhone. The young lady said her system had 1:13pm on their clock so they turned us away. I will take my family's business elsewhere. My 16-month-old son got his haircut today by Cassie. I was blown away by her patience, kindness, and professionalism. My son has major stranger danger and was pretty much going ballistic the entire time Cassie cut his hair. She was unfazed and calmly worked with my husband and I to get the job done. I can't believe with his crying, screaming, and wiggling, she managed to give him a fantastic cut and fix the botch job we did when we attempted the cut at home. My son looks so cute and her kindness was just so appreciated. It's very stressful when you are in a business and your child is upset - both Cassie and the woman working the register never made me feel bad about my son's behavior and were total pros. 5 stars for Cassie (who I believe might be an angel who is hiding on earth). She was so patient and non-judgmental with my toddler who is terrified of haircuts and has struggled through everyone he's ever had so far. For how much he was moving and screaming I was also shocked with how clean the lines were! My older son's haircut was superb! One star removed because the price is very high imo and mostly because the train set they have in there is frankly disgusting - it looks like it has never been cleaned. But it is near impossible to avoid your child playing with it. There is also maybe two train parts which ultimately is going to lead to fights between kids waiting for their cuts. read more

If I could give zero stars I absolutely would. I booked my sons appt early this morning for 10 am today. I received a confirmation email that stated "arrive 10 min before your appointment" so I did just that. When I arrived, the store was not lit but open so we went inside. I was greeted with "I'm sorry we are not open yet and I am waiting for the other stylists to arrive and can you wait in your car"? I explained the memo on the confirmation email and she (Becky) reiterated everything she said before. We went and waited in our vehicle until 10 but I didn't see anyone walking in so I gave them 10 more min. At 10:10 we walk in and are promptly told by the Becky that they have a 15min window to arrive for our appointment and if we don't make it that we need to reschedule for another time. I promptly told her that she was the one who asked us to wait in our car when it's 39 degrees out for them to open when we could have quietly waited in the store in the warmth! I asked if she was serious about telling me this?! Her receptionist butted in and told me that they don't open their doors until 10. So I reiterated to her that THEIR confirmation email told me t get there 10 min early and by that time, I blurted out "Do we need to go somewhere else because this treatment was ridiculous"! She said no and that my son could sit in the fire truck. Needless to say, I will be taking my son elsewhere to get his hair cut in the future! Revision: I just reviewed the email again and it said "if arriving 10 min late etc." So I will take responsibility for my part. However, there was no need for this type of behavior from 2 out of 3 ladies Pigtails and Crewcuts. This is the second time these people were rude and I am only going because it is convenient but now I think I will truly go somewhere else since to avoid rude service and a price increase! read more

We went on a weekday in early afternoon. The location is open and clean. We were the only customers so my kiddo had her pick of chairs and there was no wait. There are movies for kids to watch during the haircut and a play area for waiting kids. We have been to this franchise in two other states with good results and thought we would give this new shop a try. I'm not sure what to think about the actual haircut. We tried here after a bad (mushroom-shaped) haircut she got at another kid salon a few months ago. My daughter's hair had grown out long enough for her stacked bob to be fixed correctly. The haircut itself took almost an hour and a half. Yes, you read that correctly, almost 90 minutes. She watched almost a whole movie. I have no idea why it took so long. The hairdresser was nice, but she did not seem to know how to do the haircut. I specifically asked when we went in if she knew how to cut a stacked bob and she said she did. Clearly she did not. The end result was nothing liked we asked for. I asked for a stacked bob with side length left alone and just trimmed for shape. I asked for bangs cut just above her eyebrows, but instead her bangs were cut very short (about an inch above her eyebrows). The final shape of her hair did not resemble a stacked bob at all. The hairdresser trimmed a top layer almost as short as her bangs while the rest of the sides were below ear length. The back is not stacked, still has a mushroom shape, and is sticking out weirdly. Because of the thinning and layers put in the sides of her hair, my kid's previously thick luscious hair is flying everywhere with wisps and no longer frames her face. I keep coming back to this review to lower the rating. My daughter's hair is butchered. She now has hair right in her eyes from the sides. It's just a train wreck. It looks worse today than yesterday when it was cut. I will not come back as the whole point was to get a good haircut. read more

Let me start off by saying my son HATES haircuts. I had to give him a pep talk for over a week to hype him up. He cried everytime I mentioned the word. Becky cut his hair and she did such a good job, not only with the actual haircut but handling and trying to calm my screaming and crying 2 year old. The stylist wiped down everything but the chair my daughter was to sit in(previous parents sat there) and floor still had the previous kids hair around the chair. Then the stylist barely wets her hair and start yanking a brush through it. My daughter said it hurt and the stylist mumbled something to her. Went in for a haircut for my son and decided we'd have my daughters nails painted for fun. I showed a picture of how I wanted his hair cut. Very simple, short on the sides, slightly longer on the top, sheers only, no buzzers. She cut the back of his hair fine, left the sides long, and didn't take anything off the top. Then proceeded to edge out his ears, and did not do a good job. Instead of a clean curved line, it was jagged and not curved around his ears at all. I had to tell her three times "a little more off the top." And even showed her with my own fingers in his hair. Still... left it long. Then, we sit down to have my daughters nails done, and she proceeded to put GLOBS of polish on her nails. Too much to EVER dry and didn't even cover the whole nail. I honestly don't know how she got THAT much polish on to such a tiny nail. I told her "those are so thick, they might not dry." She didn't even offer to fix them. She passed me a hair dryer and I sat there and tried to dry the mountain of goop for a solid 10 minuets. The nails were completely trash. I spent my evening fixing my kids hair and redoing my daughters nails. I won't be back. So disappointed. Complete waste of money. read more

Since we moved away from the Quarry this was probably our 4th time to this location . We always get the same trim and keep the same cut on him . There are even notes in the computer . This time around I had questions about a style I wanted to do for him for his Santa pictures coming up . I emphasized how I wanted to keep the length in the front in order to achieve said style we discussed . We always kept it short on sides longer on top but particularly longer in the front because we like to spike it up and do different looks . It was Very important to me to keep the length in the front and I repeatedly said this and even showed pictures !!!!! She begins to clip the sides . All good . Gets to the top and with her scissors began to chop his hair all over . It literally looks like another kid took scissors to his head . He could have done this bad of a job to his own head . There are spots all the way down to his skull then pieces 2 inches , even 4 or 5. The front she paid very much attention to and cut a huge U shape (it looks almost like an uneven shave around his hair line )leave maybe a quarter of an inch . Then On the sides of his face above his brows there are inch pieces on one side and 2-3 on the other side . It is so awful looking . There's absolutely no way this was an accident . I asked specifically for a trim on the sides a fade and look what she did !!! I'm really bothered by it . Especially right here during the holidays and the pics we have planned , photo shoots and the vacation to Disney land . I went back the next night to discuss this and they didn't bother to try to even fix it or make right !!!!!! The lady that did it was right there and she would not even look at me ! She acted like we weren't even standing there with a I don't give a fuck" look on her face ! I was not being rude I assure you as there were customers and children but inside I was obviously fuming . Not a refund, not an apology, nothing !!! This is Not how you conduct business and if something is wrong , please be a decent business owner and teach your employees how to handle these situations if they occur . Get it together . I'm sorry but how she was asked repeatedly to keep the front long and how she just gapped it up with scissors , cut it down to his scalp in the front and chopped to hell and back all over his head especially the front! there is no way you can say it wasn't maliciously done . I have been going to this location at the Rim for nearly 3 1/2 years for my two sons. I have had a variety of stylists work on my children's hair and I've been happy with the overall experience. I went in today for my son's haircut before his third birthday, and I told the stylist what I wanted, but she did not pay any attention to me and completely cut my sons hair way too short. He now has a buzz cut which he has never had and his birthday is in two weeks and he does not look like my son at all. It was so sad to see, and all the stylus could say was that she had to do it or else I would've looked weird, and like a mushroom if she did not. The stylist name is Sophie and I do not recommend her to anyone. They offered me five dollars off the haircut but it wasn't about the money at all. I will not be going to this company or location anymore. We go there mainly because of the location and price but will gladly pay more for someone who listens. I've taken my 2.5 yr old to this salon twice for a haircut. I love the idea of the salon- everything is geared towards children. The seats the child sits in to get their haircut are the selling point for me. They are all transportation and my daughter loves the airplane. They sprinkle glitter in her hair when she's done for a nice extra touch. They offer extras like mani/pedis and hair braiding which any little girl would love. Their prices are reasonable. A bangs cut is $7. My only complaint is that both times the stylist barely acknowledged my child, adding to her nerves. read more
