I took my 1st class here last week via ClassPass. I loved trying the Reformer. I took Re: form School class on a Saturday with instructor Nancy Good. I arrived early as instructed to fill out their waiver, however another class was in session and there was no one at the front desk. I'm not sure if this is how it normally is. When their class ended the instructor had me fill out your typical safety waiver. Instructor was nice, friendly, and attentive which I appreciated because I'm new to Pilates and their equipment. She was very helpful in guiding the class but also walking around the room and assisting as needed. It was such a great, effective, low impact workout. The space felt clean. There are cubbies in the front where you leave your stuff and shoes. I was told there were cubbies in the back room if preferred. They are located in a shopping plaza on Jefferson with a parking lot. I recommend bringing pilates/yoga grip socks but I noticed some people were barefoot. They have socks and apparel for sale. Would recommend and would go back. read more

The ONLY Pilates studio I'll go to! I've been practicing for nearly 10 years and have been to different studios all over the Bay Area. Pilates Napa Valley is the only studio worth my time and money. Where other studios dumb down their classes to the lowest skill level, Heidi and Nancy keep the classes challenging and interesting and give 1:1 attention to those who need modifications. Well, I never thought I'd be one of those "go to Pilates class twice a week" kind of people (whatever that means), but I'm hooked. I've been going to this studio for about a year. About 9 months ago I started coming here twice a week. I've never had the exact same workout repeated. The instructors are always mixing up moves and using different equipment (tower, chair, reformer+ accessories), so you never get bored. There are a lot of different teachers, so there is bound to be one that fits your personality/style. My favorite is Heidi. She is always upbeat and pushes me to challenge myself in a very nonthreatening and gentle way. (Like the move is just something fun you are going to try as opposed to a boot camp drill Sargent style.) She gives great cues/instruction and is good about correcting posture and giving individual attention even in a full class. I love how positive she is, encouraging us by saying things like "Doesn't that feel good?" or "Doesn't that make you feel strong?" as opposed to playing off people's body image insecurities (as in "this will help get rid of that unsightly..."). She just doesn't go there. There are a lot of different class times to choose from, which is nice, and you can register for classes using an app for your phone, so it is super convenient. Oh, I should mention that they also have a nice little selection of workout clothes for sale there. Dang it, Heidi has really good taste too and is always ordering new things. Sometimes it is hard not to shop on your way to or from class. I started Pilates to help strengthen and improve my body's alignment in order to work through some chronic stuff. This is the best my body has felt in my entire life. I do other workouts/exercise besides Pilates, but Pilates has played a key part in muscle building, improved flexibility, better posture, and most importantly (for me) a significant decline in chronic discomfort from decades of bad posture. read more

This studio is my very favorite. Because I travel, I've had the chance to practice pilates in many different places. By far, Pilates Napa Valley's classes are the best. The instructors are excellent, offering challenging classes demonstrating the movements and cuing you through each move. They continually monitor each person in the class to ensure the movement is done correctly and safely while offering modifications for individuals needs. I have a chronic lower back problem and pilates has literally saved me from back surgery by strengthening my core. The variety of moves keeps each class interesting and the instructors make them fun. In my opinion, I think Pilates Napa Valley is the best Pilates studio in Napa Valley and I have been to others. The owner and instructors are excellent and caring and you get a full body workout as well as the opportunity to focus on certain areas. Heidi Strong, the owner, and Grace Jambois, a fantastic instructor, have both literally changed my life! I am fitter, trimmer and toned than I have ever been in my life, strong, and feeling great at 67 years old and committed now for life. The friendly atmosphere is a huge plus. Additionally, I love that Pilates Napa Valley is a woman-owned studio and not a corporation that wants to be all glitzy and trendy without really giving you the workout that we get at Pilates Napa Valley. I recently started taking pilates at Pilates Napa Valley and at the tender age of 48, I have finally found something I absolutely love to do in the name of exercise! Frankly, I am a little obsessed, I try to go 5 times per week for the monthly 'unlimited' and I enjoy every minute of it. There was a miscommunication when I originally enrolled and scheduled my first Pilates Reformer class however Chantelle handled it quickly with no drama or problems and everything has been perfect since. The classes are very small which gives the instructors the ability to ensure our form is accurate. I found out that I had been doing something wrong with my shoulders the entire time I did mat Pilates at the last place I worked out! The cardio classes in Studio C are also very small (2-6 others) and are a great minimal impact workout. I really love Natasha and D'nyse's piloxing & barre amped classes. After attending my first class with D'nyse, she even sent me an email thanking me and welcoming me to Pilates NV. That is the first time an instructor has ever done anything that thoughtful or customer service focused before. When my introductory membership expires, I will be staying! read more

I've been to a lot of Pilates studios, primarily in SF, but was amazed to find this gem in Napa! Each class is different, which makes it fun and challenging. The instructors are all creative and thoughtful. I have had a few health issues and the the instructors are allays accommodating and keep a watchful eye on me to make sure I don't overdo it. What also makes it special are the others in the classes...it's really true that great people attract other great people. I had a wonderful class here with Heidi a few weeks ago while visiting Napa. I have been a yoga practitioner for over 20 years, but I swear I never felt my spine elongate like after taking a pilates class. The day after my session on the reformer here, I felt muscles in my belly that I had no idea existed. Heidi is a great instructor who can make you laugh at the same time she pushes you to hit your limits. I'm totally hooked now on this exercise, and I would highly recommend this studio as a great place to learn the proper technique for the exercise. I've been to four classes here so far, and it really is great. I haven't had the pleasure of meeting Heidi yet, but I've been working with Nancy, and it's always a fun experience. You get a great workout, the classes are small so you get as much personal attention as you need, along with customization options if you need different levels of difficulty, and it's a fun community atmosphere. I've been a dancer for 15 years but haven't danced in a few years now. Going to these pilates class is great to help me regain my flexibility, tone, and build muscle (but not the big bulky kind). I love how it's helped me regain my dancer's pose and posture. I've developed the nasty habit of slouching since I've stopped dancing. I can see myself going to Pilates Napa Valley for a long time. It's a bit pricey, I do wish it was a bit cheaper, but having small classes, I understand. I also wish you didn't have to schedule the classes in advanced, it would be nice to decide last minute if I'm in the mood to work out or not, but that's also one of the reasons it's a small class atmosphere--limited spots. read more

This was a very enjoyable experience. My wife and two friends came to Napa for some fun. We were also looking to still exercise before going out and doing things for the day. We found Pilates Napa Valley. I have done mat pilates and some reformer classes. This was by far the best reformer class that I have been to. Heidi and the other instructor made us welcome even though we were guests in the area. They were good about changing things up as people had issues with one stretch or exercise. They made us laugh and our 1 hour sessions (we did three over a long weekend) went by so quick. Next time I'm down there I'm going to be looking Heidi up in the new bigger space right next door to where they are now. Highly recommend. read more

I was only visiting the NV for a short time & decided to take a few classes. I am a newbie to Pilates, so I wanted to ease into it. I took Debbie's classes & could not be happier. She was the kindest, most patient person I have ever met. I also took a class with the owner and found that she does go at a faster pace than Debbie, so I stuck with Debbie's classes. This studio is far superior to all the Pilates experiences I've had in the past which tended to be somewhat boring, un-engaging, slow to show results, expensive, and too much of a focus on 100% perfect form..ie. 'tuck you pelvis another 2 centimeters.' NV Pilates is exactly the opposite. The instructors know their stuff but are both engaging and go out of their way not to intimidate.The pace and variety of exercises makes the hour class fly by. I also really like the small class concept (max of 6) much better than private lessons - a lot more fun! I've definitely feel stronger and more toned and also have a better general awareness of how to engage my core during normal everyday activities. love this place!! a great addition to your workout routine if you're like me and usually stick to cardio. i think a lot of women stay away from strength training exercises because a) they don't know what theyre doing, and b) you don't want to look like one of those body builder women. Pilates on a reformer has given me more allover lean muscle--compared to mat pilates-- but still keeps the focus on working your core. Gotta love it :) read more

Wow, best work out ever! I can't believe I didn't try Pilates sooner. Thanks to Heidi and her awesome team of fitness instructors (especially Jen, & Dnyse) I'm achieving my fitness goals like never before. I started seeing results in just the first couple of weeks of Reformer Pilates classes. Every class is different and challenging like no other work out I've done before. Pilates has definitely improved my flexibility, strength, and core much faster then years of going to the gym. I recently tried out the new Core & Cardio classes in Studio C- (right next door to PNV) -including Piloxing and BarreAmped. Both are great additions to my Pilates work out. Piloxing (a blend of Pilates /Boxing) is a great Cardio work out, and burns a ton of calories. BarreAmped is like a combo of Pilates, Yoga, and Stretching at the Barre... very different from anything I've tried before and it is fun and very challenging. I can't wait to try other new classes soon. I also love the newly expanded Pilates studio, and new fitness equipment but most of all I think the personalized attention and small group classes sets this studio apart from others. Go try a class, I guarantee it will be your best 1hr. work out ever. read more

I got referred to Pilates Napa Valley from a friend when I told them I had a pinched sciatica nerve (I was an avid runner for over 15 years) that was driving me crazy. 5 months of Pilates later and it's like my injury never happened! I, like many peeps I'm sure, was quite skeptical of the virtues of Pilates (Yoga too for that matter) but now I realize I was a dummy for not doing it sooner as I'm sure all injuries would have been averted. So the moral of the story - sign up for Pilates class today! It doesn't matter what age, body type or physical condition you're in as everyone can benefit from it. I love Pilates Napa Valley because you do all your workouts on a "reformer" which to me is more effective than simply doing the exercises on a mat. Heidi Strong, the owner/instructor is also super thorough in showing how to do all the exercises correctly.
