I joined for the pool. I need to keep my body moving otherwise my back seizes up, so as it's getting colder, I needed a heated pool. This Napa Club has both indoor and outdoor pools. We joined post pandemic shut down, so there are a lot of extra machines because they had to close a few clubs last year. Because of only outdoor workouts for part of 2020, they use these extra machines outside. They happen to be staged around the pool. Regardless of all the extra equipment on the deck, it is really inviting! Most of the chairs and tables are put up because the machines are there, but for some reason I feel like it is still a place you could hang out. The furniture that is there is comfortable. Most people that come to the gym want to use the machines and the weights. The pool is not necessarily booked to where you feel crowded. Reservations are required still, but it's not difficult to make a reservation. We have worked out during the day and at night. It's really lovely at sunset. Have not used the indoor pool. We joke and say we are going to "the club" because after our swim, sometimes we take a dip in the hot tub, the steam room or the sauna. But to top it all off we always grab a massage chair. Staff is friendly, very clean, open and airy, new. All in all, I love going there. read more

The gym is just OK. Friendly staff, clean, cool apparel for sale. Was a member, then dropped. I go as a guest periodically. The gym is prone to inconsistencies whether it be channel receptivity (75% of the time, there's a problem) or amenities. Not always are the wipes replenished, hot water dispenser kept full, etc. They've been out of tea for over a week. You'll see the fans are working but you'll wonder if the AC is on, especially in the cardio area. The music varies and leaves one wondering who made "that decision" on a Sunday morning. There's no cap on membership, so good luck with your workout if you go within/close to the prime time windows. The make-up of the gym is interesting, one would have to go see for themselves. Being on one's phone in between sets while doing weights is a routine problem; it results in camping. One can intervene by using their words, but it really doesn't change the problem. There's no signage that encourages patrons to do his/her set and move on. There's a treadmill that has been broken for likely 4-5 weeks now. What's with that? This morning, there was a sit down bike that had not been turned on, assumed broken. No note. By the way, there are only 4 sit down bikes. If you're thinking about joining, read the reviews and be sure and visit the gym in advance, get a couple passes...go at prime time windows. Then you'll capture it all. This gym has been shockingly negligent when it comes to the Kid Zone. This is now the second time my daughter has been hit while supposedly under their supervision. The first time, she was hit so hard she was bleeding from her head -- and now it has happened again. The fact that the gym has taken absolutely no real action to fix this or protect the children is outrageous. Parents deserve better, and this level of negligence is completely unacceptable. read more

I've been a member for approx 5 months now; I have my routine. In and out, not there to camp. It's a clean gym and has a friendly staff. One needs to be in tune with crowd patterns, otherwise you can kiss off getting your workout done in a timely, focused manner. I don't think there's a cap on number of memberships. Channel receptivity on the treadmills can be hit and miss. Frustrating! I consistently see certain machines (weight) used to simply "park it," get on one's cell...for sometimes extended periods of time. Aforementioned issues have been shared in person and via membership APP, but strategies to resolve/reduce are still not in place. Gym isn't my home; I have one. Given cost of living in Napa, including inflation, I find demographic make-up interesting including timing of their usage. Before you join, see if you can get some passes. Go during crowded times--that way you'll get the full picture. I can now see why there's a movement toward more personalized, specialized gyms--it's tempting. Parking is okay. read more

This gym is nice. My issue is with the manager, Don, and his dishonest and unprofessional conduct. Three months ago I came in for a personal training session. The trainer showed up 15 minutes late, announced he was hungry and would get something to eat first, and didn't start the session until a good 20 minutes later. Our 30-minute session lasted maybe 10 minutes. I figured it was a one-off and decided to proceed with a training package. When I got home, I noticed the invoice he emailed me specified a 3-month commitment. I texted the trainer about this and told him I travel a lot and a 3-month commitment wouldn't work for me. I was hoping to schedule sessions as needed. I also learned that I was pre-paying for the month even though two weeks had already passed. When I pointed this out, the trainer got nervous and told me he was happy to provide a refund. I got an email confirming it was canceled but no refund. A month went by and the charge hadn't dropped off. I called the manager, Don, who assured me he would take care of it. He gave me his personal phone number and asked me to text him a reminder in two weeks. Two weeks turned into two months and I was too busy to follow up. Until I got an email confirming a personal training appointment next week. I didn't make this appointment and my personal training package was supposed to have been canceled. I texted Don and didn't hear back. So I called In-Shape and asked to speak with him. He answered the phone angrily and said, "I'm not going to talk to you about this. I sent you a text yesterday and you responded with a very unprofessional message today." I was stunned because he absolutely did not message me yesterday and my text was anything but unprofessional. A little aggravated? Yes, but that's understandable under the circumstances. Not only did one of his staffers essentially scam me into a membership I didn't want but he failed to resolve it and now three months later, that trainer is making other appointments that I didn't authorize. I told him the only lack of professionalism was in his response. He clearly has zero customer service skills and it not only shows in how he dealt with me but how he manages the trainers. He said "I'm not dealing with this. I'm gonna have the GM handle it." I told him I was glad the GM was handling it because clearly, he hadn't done anything about it in three months and seemed incapable of being a professional. Well done, Don. I'll be reporting your lack of professionalism to corporate and sending them screenshots of the text messages I sent you, as well as the ones I got from the dishonest trainer. There are so many terrific things about In-Shape Napa. But...their notification system is horrible. For example, and this is not the first time, last week our Aqua instructor told us there would not be an Aqua class today, January 3. At this time, 75 minutes before class is to start, there still has not been a notification via app or email. Last time this happened a few weeks ago, the notice came out one hour before class was to begin. If the instructor knows so far ahead and has told management, why can't we get a notice a few days ahead? This is not acceptable and the rating is based on that, not an overall rating. read more

By far the most amazing gym I've ever joined. Love it here! Not only is it aesthetically pleasing, but it is always extremely clean and the vibe is great. I enjoy all the lifting equipment, as well as the classes (esp FULL BODY FIT w/ Rose or Jordy & UJAM w/ Dania) and the extra perks/amenities available. There is never a time the team isn't smiling and happy to help. The GM Rosevelt Smith is extremely personable, competent, attentive and approachable; always mingling and kindly engaging w/ us guests which is very much appreciated. Never coming to this place again! I came at around 9:40 pm to get a quick workout in while they're still open, I am a new mom so I typically go to the gym with my baby in a carrier on me to work out. I had went to the bathroom and came out wearing my child and some girl, don't know her name but whoever was working the front told me I had to leave because I was wearing my child to workout??? She said that anyone under 18 can't use the equipment... as far as I'm concerned a 3 month old child can't use equipment so u was told to leave. I have been to other gyms with my baby and have never had a problem. I am deeply offended because as a mom I want to workout to get my body back to normal but I can't because I'm wearing my child in a carrier??? Interesting. And as far as the policy goes cause that's what Miss girl was so concerned about it says children under 12 can be there but under adult supervision. Cannot recommend! Everything is wrong here. Extremely bad management that begins at the top. The clientele is rock bottom, bargain basement mentality. There is a group of women in the water aerobic's classes that are mean and bullies. They gossip and bad mouth just about everyone. Management is aware of them and have done nothing to rectify the situation. They let one of them teach her own class and she doesn't have any credentials to teach. She is aggressive and hostile... So many people have had issues with her but she continues to get away with her bad behavior. They take over the lanes so I can't swim. Management does nothing about it. They allow cell phone photos in the locker room. I wanted to leave due to the disgusting facility but they want to charge me a fee to leave. There is nothing redeeming about this place. Everything keeps breaking. The hot tub is broken more that it works, pool heaters break constantly. Music is horrible. Don't waste ur money. There are much better gyms in town. It was so bad I paid to leave and now am very happy at my other gym. read more

Love this place packed indoors with any machine you need. Outside a lot of machines also. Indoor pool with a lot of classes. Out door heated pool with reservations. Great out door spa, sometimes you need to reserve. Love the staff friendly helpful and smiling when not masked . Clean and heavy sanitation for Covid. Come look at it and see the club for your self. We have been members of InShape for 6 years and have been faithful fans of the Aquafit classes. We just learned that, having been told by management that they had a replacement for full weeks of classes . . . there will be no replacement. Fides, who we very much like, has other commitments and will only be instructing 3 days. Mon-Thursday there will be no Aquafit. Many of us, and we are many, depend on those classes to keep us healthy. Water aerobics is the best method and prescribed by our doctors. Management has had plenty of time to interview and hire qualified individuals. We actually know of an experienced, qualified person who applied. What happened? Also, the pool heaters are constantly breaking down. This is unacceptable and management seems not to care or take responsibility. The app is also never up to date. We sign up for classes shown and find out there is no class at the last minute. read more

So the club has become much cleaner, less bureaucratic, and more user friendly. As noted by others, it is light and airy with great classes and lots of variety in equipment. There are two pools, outdoor and indoor - that's great! The outdoor pool is ALWAYS open to kids - you can ask staff to take down a lane if it is not crowded, while the indoor pool has scheduled free time. The jacuzzi is coed and outside. read more

I love In-Shape because I have access to the pool, hot tub, sauna, lockers etc. I like that there are two levels so I can go upstairs and see a whole lot of the gym as I workout. I wish there were more Smith Machines but other than that I love it. I've heard great things about the kids center as well. read more

A little upset about In shape been coming here for 3 months and today my friend who does not have an in shape account here wanted to go to the bathroom and the guy in the front said he needs a guest pass or membership to go to the bathroom due to liability. I think this is ridiculous because he has been coming here with me for 3 months and used to have a membership before here and In shape has never ask us for his membership or mention liability or refused for him to use the bathroom. If this is a old policy or rule it should be told to all employees so not just one employees ask for his membership. If this is a old rule or policy how come just now someone is reforceing it or telling us about it. Why was it not been told or reforce before? Came to this In-Shape for the first time the other day. I've never been to a diamond level in shape gym. I went around 530 so parking was challenging but I got lucky and got into a park near the entrance as someone else was coming out. Upon entering the gym is really clean and has a fresh feel to it. The space is very open and inviting. The staff at the desk were pleasant and professional. I was offered a towel. The women's locker room was bigger than the platinum level In-Shape gyms I am used to. The gym has an indoor and outdoor pool. I did not go to the pool or spa area though. During my visit I used mostly cardio and strength machines. All the machines appeared clean and clear of dried sweat drops/moisture. I only saw one cardio machine with a Maintenence tag on it. The upstairs cardio area and workout areas are spacious and I liked how there were two areas for stretching and a special area for ab machine use. They even have machines that assist with helping you maximize your stretching. Overall I really enjoyed this diamond level in shape and plan to return to try out their classes. This gym location is less than a five minute commute from my job site. I'm looking forward to using the pool and spa rooms (sauna and steam room) in the future as well. read more

Fides who teaches the Aqua Fit and Aqua Combat classes among others is amazing. She makes us work our butts off with varied and challenging classes. The 50 minute classes are over before we know it and we can't wait for more. In fact the classes are always a fun full body workout that will leave you exhausted but wanting more. read more

It's a gym with much potential. Unfortunately upstairs is ALWAYS incredibly stuffy. Morning, night, afternoon, doesn't matter. They need to keep the doors open or keep the AC on. It actually feels unsafe to be doing any sort of cardio workout with the level of heat and humidity that's up there. We pay a decent amount in fees, yet it's a sweatbox up there. Very unfortunate experience with front desk staff untrained and rude. The majority of my company's employees are members here and were all very shocked by Ryan's insulting and unprofessional attitude and lack of aptitude to understand basic signup protocol. Matters only got worse when 20 minutes later an even younger male claiming to be the general manager got involved creating more confusion on SOP's. Hopefully some grown ups will help train young staff on how to sign up potential new members. read more

Something is happening here and I don't like it. This is a good looking club but the details are off. The towels are threadbare if you are lucky enough to get one. They are constantly out of towels and the ones they have are the most old and threadbare imaginable. Some of the toilets have been out of commission for months. Speaking of toilets, they are sized for kindergartners, they must have been on sale or something. And the showers have faucets that alway are loose so you can't adjust the hot/cold very easily. The shower (picture) has been out of commission for months!! And we need all the showers to be working during busy times. Unacceptable. One of the nicer / newer In-shape gyms in the area ! the gym is sectioned into various areas... all spread out within 2 floors. They have tables in front of check-in, coffee, plasmas everywhere, towel service available, I like how the areas are sectioned off, based on the type of exercise. They offer a 29 circuit, there are timers and light markets that tell you when to switch machines ( I never done it ) Zumba is extremely popular... if you are taking that... expect a full room. I normally do Spin ( never packed, even tho the room has a nice view and the bikes are in pristine condition ) They have massage chairs with TV displays on the second floor. I also take other group classes, Ultimate conditioning ( with Lisa ... yeah, she is a bad *ss and always brings her A game to her classes, great music, awesome motivator, 300 calorie work out HIIT style ), turbo kick ( choreograph kickboxing great cardio class - 600 calorie work out ), bodypump.. - leave your ego at the car.. this class will test your weigh endurance!( normally take Kay's class, another awesome instructor! great energy. Cx work is a core/ab class 30 mins. long. bodyshred with Julie - great work out routine.. and even better variations to burpees, pushups... another butt kicker!! looking forward to taking advantage of other classes, pools, and their clean weight equipment. they also offer personal training classes for an additional fee. will add more to the review, as I see things to add. minor note: would be good if the staff sweep the floor after classes.. that are not back to back. read more

Just moved here from out of town. Tried to workout at the gym for a day and try it out before deciding to committing to a membership. Gyms typically have a 1-3 day period where you can sign a form and get a couple of days in the gym to feel it out. They pulled the Covid card on me and said they don't allow people to do try the gym out anymore. Hilarious... This is huge for me since I've always picked a few gyms in the area to workout at for a day or two before deciding which one was the best for me to go for. I hope they can fix this policy and allow new comers to be able to feel the gym out before committing to a contract. Ended up getting a nice month to month membership at a different gym that allowed me to get a full workout in before moving forward. read more

This Gym is amazing compared to many of the ones I have been too. It's kept clean and very sanitized and the crew are friendly and helpful. It's definitely worth the price you pay. The pools are quite busy in the late afternoon/early evening with families and fellow swimmers. The only issues Ive had here so far are the Karen's and Ken's that sometimes ruin the good vibes everyone's having. I give the staffing extra kudos for helping deal with them when they can. read more

I seldom complain on Yelp but the In-Shape gym in Napa is OUT OF SHAPE! When something goes down it takes MONTHS to fix. Here are a couple examples. The pool outside had no heater all winter long. It only feels warm now due to warmer weather. The Jacuzzi is cold. The heater for the Jacuzzi is down and will probably be down for at least 3 months, if we're lucky. There are only four showers. 3 work the other shower has been down going on 6 months. These are the only things I use. My sister tells me the women's showers always have one shower that no longer works. Would you join a club like this? read more

This gym is new so of course they have nice new equipment. I am not a member but did a test run via a 7 day pass. Likes: The size of the gym. The views. The new. The restroom size. Two pool choices. Dislikes: The setup is a bit odd. Weights were missing. The staff is young and inexperienced. The prices are way too HIGH. I would love to join but can't bring myself to fork out that much money a month. I hear Planet Fitness will be opening in the area. I can't wait as that is a way more frugal option. read more

I Never see anyone cleaning and the locker rooms, showers, restrooms are always in pretty bad shape. Lots of young staff with a bad attitude. Also, lots of people without a face mask. This review is for In-Shape Napa. Before you join this club you should be aware of three things. Even though the club is listed as having a heated pool, the heater is broken at least once a month, usually for an entire week. This has been a consistent problem since I joined 10 years ago.It would seem that they could figure out a fix that would last longer. Unless this is a cost cutting measure. Second, even though Napa is one of the most expensive clubs to join, they do not have many of the amenities(pickleball, racquetball, tennis, social events) that the other clubs do. When In-Shape posts all the improvements they are making, they never list the Napa club. Thirdly, If you are a member of Kaiser and have Silver and Fit, the Napa In -Shape is not covered unlike the In-Shapes in Fairfield, Suisun, Vallejo, Vacaville (Brown's Valley Rd, Elmira Rd). So basically, you will be paying more money for not getting as much. read more

Calling out "oh yeah we're not doing that anymore" before disappearing around the corner is anything but helpful. No discussion. No "Oh I'm sure we can make an exception and honor that since our manager gave it to you." I mean even if it's done only in the hopes of getting a new member. Bad business sense. Love the gym and equipment but the steam room on the men's locker room needs some serious attention and would not call it a steam. I have asked several times if they can adjust the steam unit and or do something to make it a proper steam room. The GM Rosevelt told me that it was functioning as it should be. I have never in my life seen such a poor steam room and poor management in not addressing the needs of its members. Several guys were in there with me all complaining about the lack of steam and temperature. Do not come here if you want a hot steam after a work out as you will be greatly disappointed...
