More like Common $$$... question mark, am I right?…read more This fueling station/convenience store/restaurant (Inferno: Food By Fire) is a mix of all that is great when it comes to consumerism. The fuel is Exxon, and is moderately priced for the higher octane (my cars usually have to run 91 min). If I don't feel like driving all the way out to wherever then I'll stop by here to quench the thirst of mein auto. New-ish sure means that the parking area and storefront are always clean, but that also comes with great care from the always gleeful employees. The car wash is ideal if you're alright with a brush and touch system. It's what you'd expect and you get what you pay for in that regard. I can't say anything about Inferno: Food By Fire, because I have yet to try it and I don't know if I will. (As I know where I like to go grab pizza from in town; see a previous review.) The last thing I have is pricing. Other than the fuel, most items are actually a little out of hand, but I suppose par for the area. Those that want will pay for it. Now, I feel the beginning makes a little more sense here at the end. They can call themselves "Common Cents" but they should actually be named "Common $$$."

5 Stars - Lured by Wall Drug, Rescued by Conoco's Finest…read more Let me start by owning up to the truth: I ran out of gas because of Wall Drug. Their signs started long before Chamberlain, but it was ever since Chamberlain that I began expecting--at any moment--to crest a rolling hill and finally see my oasis: Wall Drug. The siren song of free ice-cold water, 5 cent coffee, and no-charge parking lured me past every reasonable opportunity to fuel up. I was enchanted. Hoodwinked. Seduced by billboard propaganda. Three miles east of Wall, my Subaru Forester coughed, sputtered, and gave up. Stranded in the great nothing, betrayed by dreams of 5 cent joy, I called the nearest Conoco--my last hope. Enter Taylor. His manager answered the phone and, without hesitation, Taylor proactively offered to rescue me. Minutes later, as I crawled deadbeat across the prarie interstate, through my weary wind battered eyes, I saw a red Ford Fusion crest the horizon like a chariot of mercy gliding across the prairie. He didn't say much--just, "Hey man, it's pretty windy, huh?"--before driving me to my fountain of youth (octane), in noble silence. He brought me to the station, helped me get gas, and when I offered him a tip--because legends deserve gold--he humbly declined. Like a true hero, Taylor asked for nothing. As I write this, the octane vapors from the portable gas container in the back of my Forester fill my nostrils, stimulating poignant memories of the cologne of my knight in shining armor. Taylor's act of kindness has forever changed me. I'm a Conoco lifer now. No more Kwik Trip. No more Shell. No more Flying J. From this day forward, my tank--and my trust--belong to Conoco. The entrance signage was confusing, and the pricing tiers weren't clearly explained, which made it hard to know what I was paying for versus what I was actually getting. The line management was chaotic. Cars were stacking up with no staff directing traffic, so people were cutting in and others were backing up into the street. It felt unsafe and disorganized, which is not what you want when you're trapped in a narrow lane. At the pay kiosk, the screen lagged and the options weren't clear. I selected a mid-tier wash that supposedly included a wheel scrub and spot-free rinse, but the receipt didn't list those features, and there was no attendant around to verify or adjust anything. Inside the tunnel, several brushes didn't seem to make proper contact with my car, especially along the lower panels and rear hatch. The pre-soak was brief, and the wheel cleaner barely sprayed the passenger side, which defeats the purpose of a premium add-on. By the time I exited, the car was still visibly dirty. There were soap residue streaks on the windows, bug splatter on the front bumper, and a dusty film left on the rear. The wheels looked untouched, and the tires had uneven shine like the applicator skipped sections. The vacuums and self-serve area didn't make up for it. Several vacuum stations had weak suction, a few hoses were torn, and trash bins were overflowing. The microfiber towels were either out of stock or damp and grimy, which is not sanitary. Customer service was the most frustrating part. I tried to find someone to ask about a rewash guarantee, but the lone attendant seemed rushed and dismissive. I was told to "go through again if you want," but the line was long and no one offered a code or any assistance. For the price, the value just isn't there. I can get a better wash at smaller, locally run places where the equipment is maintained and staff actually check results. Paying extra for "spot-free" and "wheel scrub" means nothing if those steps aren't performed properly. Facilities upkeep needs serious attention. The lot had puddles and slick spots, the mat cleaners were out of order, and several signs were faded or peeling. These details add up and reflect a lack of care in the overall operation. I won't be returning based on this visit. If Super Clean Tunnel Wash wants to earn back customers, they need clearer pricing, working equipment, attentive staff, and a straightforward rewash policy that's actually honored. Until then, I can't recommend this location.
