Offered me coffee which was delicious. Before I was shampooed Stephanie gave me a consult. I explained what I liked and didn't like about my hair. I showed her some pictures of the look I was going for. She was very accommodating and explained where and how she had to cut my hair. I made not 2, but 3 extension appointments (that they didn't properly book in their system)which unfortunately made the wait even longer, each time I attended. I ordered and purchased $600 Bellami extensions from their salon. After they had mistakenly booked my appointment under the wrong time several occasions, I told them I would reschedule my appointment. Without my approval, they sent back my extensions, although I STILL wanted them put in. After reordering them, and waiting another full week, they finally arrived. I was finally able to schedule a date to put them in. Before my appointment started, I asked if the 22 inch extensions would blend in with my hair, and look natural. She said yes.. Unfortunately, they did not blend at all. She cut my real hair very unevenly to try and make it look natural, but my hair just looked worse. You could clearly see a fine line of my real hair that was separated from the extensions itself. I immediately asked for the extensions to be taken out, as well as refunded. I was only able to receive $300 for the installment price. The extensions I could not return considering they were opened. After the employees heard of my concerns, and mixed up all 3 of my scheduled appointments, they were frustrated with me. This blasphemous behavior was uncalled for, and I was told it was not their fault on their part. At the end of the day, I was looking for a positive salon, that could give my hair a makeover! Unfortunately, I received extensions that I had no use for, as well as uneven hair. If I could give Mimis salon a rating, I'd give them a negative 5 stars. Sadly, yelp does not have that option.

As a new client I paid the price for my services, but was happy with it, so I didn't mind paying.

Instead, I started using a place in Asbury but realized a few weeks ago that, although the new place was good with color, there was no "human connection," it was very expensive, and I'd get bounced around on occasion from my original stylist (with no advanced notice). Parking in Asbury is also becoming a nightmare. Anyway, my last visit was way overpriced for only a few highlights and a root touch-up (no blow-dry or anything), so I decided to go back to Vanity 18 as it is only 10-15 minutes farther down Main Street . . . and I actually missed Teresa. Very smart move! I returned to Vanity 18 only to discover that they now have a 10-minute hair color treatment, which is AWESOME, not to mention that Teresa did the best highlight job (with a few lowlights for effect) that I've have ever had (no joke), and for much less than the Asbury place. (Also, Annette works miracles with "senior" hair; you'd have to see it to believe it!) Wait, it gets better: New(ish) Saturday summer hours are from 6 A.M. till 12 P.M. (noon). I don't know about you, but I have no interest in driving in shore traffic to get my hair done on a Saturday. That fact that Teresa accommodates "locals" needs no embellishing; she clearly considers her clients. (And she clearly considers others who are not her clients with much charity, which makes me even happier to patronize her shop.) So, basically, between that and the 10-minute color, I can rightfully be FINISHED with my hair appointment by 9 A.M. on a Saturday. Are you kidding? Sign me up! Oh, and guess what else? I was there for a 7:15 A.M. root touch-up this past weekend, and she treated me to a breakfast sandwich (they were ordering out)! (Coffee is always free.) Anyway, I could go on and on about many other "extras" that she has done, but I think I've made my point. I am sorry I ever left, but it was a good lesson learned, and I am elated to be back.
