I try to support my local community. I set up pool service with pinch a penny. They did a very average job all along. My pool service is conducted on Fridays. On Sunday morning my pool was completely green. I took a sample to the store and had them test. The pool had no chlorine in it at all. I offered to take the chlorine home and put it in myself as I have a pending pool party on Memorial Day Monday. my monthly fee already included my chemicals. Jacob did not seem to care and charged me $30 for 3 gallon jugs of chlorine. I told him I did not think that was right that he was making me pay twice. He said there was nothing they could do. Bought a $450 vacuum that keeps spinning into itself and getting tangled Brought pictures and had argument with owner who tried to claim installed incorrectly when my pool guy installed it. He does it all the time!!! They then claimed I had old hoses or pump problems and I showed them pictures of it with all new hoses !!! It worked great for a week and the. Spin spin spin She wanted a technician trying to delay me past 30 days refund. And then claimed 20 % restock to return I was returning because not work. We would gladly recommend pinch a penny for all your pool projects. Our job was a bit difficult but under their project manager tosh who is a perfectionist,completed our pool and surroundings and exceeded our expectations. I started calling ten min before they closed! I was one stop light away But the Intersection was blocked off. So I decided to call. I called 4 times back to back to ask if he would take a pool sample I know that no one likes last minute customers because im a bartender and when people come in right before 3 am it drains my soul However, I am paid by my boss to do a job and I'm on the clock until the minute we close which means all my duties are being practiced til then. I walked in at 4:02 and he stated they were already closed. I told him google said they are open til 4 he rudely replied it's 4:02. I told him I had been calling and would show him my call log and he said again they are closed now. No apologies for not answering just a rude comeback. So I told him I needed to make sure I was hearing him correctly that they closed at 4 but he decided to stop working prior to that by not answering calls, Which had he answered the phone at least one of the times none of this would have happened. My only regret is that I waiting so long before changing to Pinch A Penny. My pool has never looked so clear. The equipment they sold me works amazingly well and most important their staff is truly professional. I'm a fairly demanding guy and these guys are GREAT! We had pool service before and we discontinued it. I never realize exactly what these people did until my pool start getting green two weeks after cutting the service. My husband is a bit stubborn so he wanted to do things himself, we took our water sample to pinch a penny and they were wonderful. They tested the water and walked us step by step in what we needed to do to get our pool back in shape. They didn't made us by more than we needed nor they tried to sell mostly more expensive equipment. They encouraged us to keep bringing the water back for testing so they could tell us how we are doing, and if it's getting better. We did everything they told us to do and the very next day the pool look like it did when we had service. Very, very happy with customer service. read more

CUSTOMERS BE AWARE!!! Called them for a resurface of my pool and patio. They sent this guy Tosh out to the house. After looking at everything he said a quote would follow. I called after a week several times with no quote. He never returned my call till I called the store. He then sends an email that says the THIRD PARTY USED to do pools and patios can not place necessary items into my patio to code due to their license. So I ask why is pinch a penny using low level third parties under the guise of pinch a penny to do pools. What an unprofessional waste of time. Don't call this company you are better off calling a real pool company as I did, that can do the total job to code and at a fair price. read more

If I could choose zero stars I would. Was contacted by Pinch A Penny corporate (see thread) stating that they would reach out to me. Great customer service I thought. I was shocked when I received an email stating that the issue had been satisfactory resolved. Funny thing is I was never contacted by anyone at corporate and nothing ever changed. Store admitally sold used returned merchandise as new. I'll say that again "THIS STORE IS SELLING USED RETURNED MERCHANDISE AS NEW OR DISPLAY ITEMS!" When I notified Pinch A Penny corporate office of the fact that this was not a resolved issue (at least not in my eyes) I received an email from the original store owner (Mr. Tosh Patel) who admitted that his store was selling used items as new, he stated that he offered me a $25 credit for the inconvenience. After 17 years of visiting a Pinch A Penny store on a bi-weekly basis and purchasing ALL of my pool supplies and equipment from them I would be hard pressed to visit one of their stores ever again. Mr. Patel please keep your $25 dollars you obviously need it more than I do. After your response, It is no surprise why your store keeps getting negative ratings. If you would like I will post your email to me to show potential customers what type of owner they are working with. Pinch A Penny Corporate shame on you! In my opinion you should at a minimum reach out to a customer if you say you are going to. 17 years of being a loyal customer ruined by a fraudulent franchisee owner and zero attempt by Pinch A Penny Corporate to even try to resolve the issue by contacting a loyal customer. Lucky for all of us that there are many options for pool supplies. In my opinion this store will continue to struggle as long as it is under Mr. Patel's ownership. Call me old school but nice smiles, attentive service, knowledge about what I needed for my pool, from chemicals to other supplies, ... plus additional pointers on pool care to save me $$$ over the long term adds up to an excellent customer experience. My last review on 3-7-2015 was recently removed because it didn't meet yelp standards. It was to vague. So here we go again. Customer service is lacking since new owners/management took over. Im driving an extra 5 miles to the Boca Green. Much better experience. On my last visit: After exchanging 4 empty chlorine jugs for 4 full ones, I noticed that one was leaking. When I pointed this out, the person assisting me said that he would exchange it. A gentleman intervened and said that I would need to purchase a new Jug. He said that the jug was one that I brought in and that they had only refilled it, so it must have been damaged before I brought it in (odd thing is, he was never anywhere near the containers while this whole process was going on). I told him that I didn't think that was the case, but he was emphatic that I would have to purchase a new container. I couldn't believe the posturing he was taking, refusing to exchange the container. I requested and was given a refund for my purchases. I left with 4 empty containers. I drove to the Boca Green store, explained that one was leaking. They exchanged them with no questions asked. Now I drive 5 extra miles for chlorine. The Boca Green employees can teach a thing or two about customer service to the Hillsboro store management. read more

I have had great experiences when coming to this store. I started out coming to the store for water checks but I have recently bought into their weekly pool service - the pool men are knowledgable, on time, and very kind. The new store owners are doing a great job running the place - it is very clean and the employees are courteous and helpful. read more

My pool pump motor went out, I tried changing it myself and ran into some complications. I contacted the technician, (Dave or David) who came out the following day even though I was not able to be home, he took a look at it discovered I had a couple of other issues, called me each step of the way and came back the following day to finish the job, again even though I was not able to be home. The new owners at the store really make sure everything goes smoothly. They are very friendly and the staff is very helpful. The water test really helps my pool. I come in at least once every two weeks to make sure my pool is blue. The prices can be better, but at least they give coupons in the mail. I'm very happy with the service! read more
