I made an appointment with a technician who said he would come on Saturday around 4 PM. I wrote it down on my calendar as he gave me the specific date. When I called at 4 PM on Saturday asking if the guy was still showing up I was informed by the manager, Robert, that they don't have service technicians on Saturdays. Well, this became a major problem because I was off all week and apparently the guy was supposed to come on Friday but no one did and I was home all day. No one bothered to call or inform me that they were not showing up. I can't take time off of work and was really hoping to get this done on my week off. This is caused a major problem for me as I am going to be stuck with this issue for some time. I didn't feel the manager was very professional when he said that I made a typo. That made me absolutely livid and I had to remind him. That customers are always right and that maybe his employee made a mistake. The whole experience felt very unprofessional for me. read more

I feel the customer service is one of the things that pinch a penny is lagging They are very helpful when it comes to helping you make a decision to make a purchase but when something goes wrong with that item And you go to the store to get a solution they send you to the manufacture because they do not replace anything after 30 days and the manufacture sends you back to them because it's out of their hands We are talking about a 30 something dollar leaf net that I feel should have lasted more than 2 and a 1/2 month Fortunately for me and unfortunately for pinch a penny there's 3 other pool store nearby that I can take my business to. read more

I first came in here to see if they had my pool filter (Jandy CJ-200), and ended up abandoning the other store (not a Pinch-a-Penny) up US-1 that I used to use, where there was seldom more than one guy working, and it took forever to get my water tested, and I didn't trust their results. Here at THIS Pinch-a-Penny franchise, I don't think I've ever seen less than 4-6 people working, and the core workers are VERY knowledgable about pool chemistry and hardware. I have a somewhat complicated pool-bottom cleaner, and they will always repair it for just the cost of parts, and they are good at diagnosing problems. I have a salt system, and I feel that I have received good advice about settings and use. I trust them completely (and I'm not a very trusting person). read more

today i went to refill my chlorine jugs. i was unaware that they dripped chlorine down the side of the jugs. when I took them out of the car it dripped down the side of the jugs and ruined my dress. i went back to the store to show the manager and to tell him he needs to be more careful and to have his staff wipe the sides of the jug. Been a loyal customer for over 30 years. His answer to me "when the jugs leave my store they are not my responsibility any more" his solution buy trays from him. followed me out of the store and never once apologized or acknowledged that they would be more careful. guess he really cares about his customers read more

Had been a customer for over 15 years until today. Went in to get chlorine jugs filled. One of the jugs they gave me last time leaked all over my cabinets and damaged them. I went in to let them know the one jug had leaked and to have them replace the jug. Gabe the manager said I would have to buy a new jug. He did not exchange it for a new one even though I told him the leak had caused damage to my cabinets at home. I left and went to Pool Discount on US1 and 143st. They replaced it and now have a new client!! read more

Have been to this place twice. Each time the same clown tells me the chlorinator isn't producing chlorine and wants to put me on a list to have someone come out to fix it. It's all a load of feces! Our pool is clear and I told him so. Went to another Pinch a Penny store and sure enough the chlorine level is JUST FINE!! All we needed was acid. Don't believe what they tell you. It seems it's just a ploy to get you to spend money for things you DO NOT need!! I could see one time, a mistake or a mis-reading BUT not twice for the same thing. Here's my pool boy fantasy. I want a guy that's knowledgeable, honest and helpful. Based on these criteria, the guys at the 144th franchise had me at "restricted flow." In all seriousness, I can't say enough good things about these guys. And there are plenty of them. The owners always have enough help around that there are times when my tailgate hasn't full dropped before someone is out to take my chlorine jugs in for me. I went window shopping online for an automatic pool cleaner not long after we moved into our house. After narrowing my choices down I went to a competitor of P-A-P's (just north of 144th kinda near the DQ) simply because that's where my dad always went. When I approached Jabba behind the counter, I shared my findings with him and told him that the same model he had on display I found for less online. He responded by telling me to by it online then, I left and my dad has since ceased going there as well. After some quick geometry, I found the correct combination of tangents to make it across 144th at rush hour. I took very little math after that to realize that P-A-P was the place for me. Larry, the franchisee, was more than helpful. He asked about my pool's finish, trees in the yard, pump type...etc. He explained the pricing differences and warranties. Over the years I've had problems with the filter and pump that was inherited from the previous owner. Larry and Kevin are always my first stop. If they feel that they can't do the work then they'll point you in the right direction. Unfortunately, corporate has allowed another franchise to open +/- 3 miles away. It's actually closer to home. But pool boy swapping is definitely not one of my fantasies. read more

I have been coming here on and off for years, but now I am a full time customer. Discount Pool across the street from here sold my dad a flower thing for the pool exhaust port, but didn't have the proper fitting, just said they don't carry it anymore. So I brought him over to Pinch-A-Penny, they knew exactly which part it is, explained why nobody carries it, and showed us how he would get around buying the actual part and gave us the key piece we needed to make it work, for free. That kind of customer service deserves loyalty. read more

These guys are great! I knew nothing about having a pool when I moved in my house. These guys have helped me through all sorts of questions/problems and they always seem to know which part I need. One time a guy in the store saw me walking across the parking lot with a broken filter basket, by the time I reached the front door of the store he was standing there holding the correct replacement part. Don't know if they have the cheapest prices, but the level of service and friendliness of staff here keeps me coming back. read more

These guys are great! Just bought a house with a semi neglected pool, and knew absolutely nothing about getting back in good condition. I didn't even get through the door and they where already helping me. They tested my water for free. Showed me what I needed to add to get my pool back in shape, and wrote down everything in order. I returned today with what I thought was a bad Salt Water Chlorinator. Not looking forward to spending a bunch of $$ on a new one, and after they cleaned it (for free) it worked fine. Very good store. The employees are all very nice. I find the prices are very reasonable compared to Home Depot and Lowes or any other big store. I went once weeks ago to get some muriatic acid at Home Depot and then weeks later I went and got some more at pinch a penny and the Home Depot price was three times as much. Been going here for years. Lately their liquid chlorine is diluted. I don't know if they are trying to make up for the 3 months of closure because covid but the chlorine is watery compared to how it used to be. Don't recommend buying liquid chlorine there. The other products are ok. Just don't refill your chlorine jugs there. read more

Hired the guys out of North Miami Beach. Needed a pump. They recommended a super expensive energy saving one. $1200 I bought it. Then they said i needed a new salt genertor. $1000 I bought it. Then for whatever reason my remote wouldnt work with all the new equipment thry put in. Couldnt use my hot tub for about six months. They claimed the Jandy rep needed to look at my system and they couldnt get a hold of them for six months. I finally lost my patiance and started calling the store every hour until the owner Milton called me back. They finally got the Jandy rep out and fixed my remote. Then i find out everytime i try to heat up the hottub it just drains. I assume they have one of valves crossed. Again i start calling the store. I leave messages. No call back. Then on top of all this my pool required some extra cleaning, they tell me they need to charge me extra. I told them do what they have to. So they charge me extra for the month and didn't clean the pool. What ever you do, i recommend you find another company. read more

My experience here was amazing. I have had pool service for over a year now. When i had first walked into this store i was welcomed with award winning smiles. A year ago my pool filter was broken, my pool was leaking, and my pool was always green. When i came to the Pinch a Penny store on 33157, my pool filter was fixed, they fixed the leak, and after the first four weeks of pool service my pool was crystal clear.I have visited other Pinch a Penny stores but i have not enjoyed any of the other stores as much as this one.
