Makes it even more easy to love Long Island's local Pindar Winery. The main Vineyards are located on the North Fork of Long Island in Peconic. If you don't want to travel all the way out to the North Fork. Pindar wines provides much of what you want right here. There's a wonderfully fresh current selection always available here. Wine tasting can be a wonderfully, delicious and educational experience. I highly suggest becoming a member of the Pindar wine club. My friend has these benefits and they entitle him to free tastings and other extras. Most fortunately, my friend was with us for our visit today. One glance of the wine club membership card, and the old red carpet was rolled right out. Great, who doesn't love outstanding customer service. Our Pindar wine experts treated our entire crew to taste some of their more reserved selections. I thought I knew a little about pindar wines their "Sweet Scarlet", "Summer Blush" and Winter White have been among our favorites. This time I was introduced to some new selections. The different wines varied in flavors and intensities. Sweet, dry, full-bodied, aromatic, and delicious. All were served up with a smile and wonderful hospitality. Even more delightful than the delicious new wines, was the genuinely warm welcoming we received here. That's just so important when I shop for anything, I like to know that my business is appreciated. Thank you again Pindar wines for the wonderfully educated and courteous staff that greeted us today. Came here for a paint and sip night with my friends. Tickets should be purchased ahead of time which includes your painting supplies. We opted for the wine tasting selection instead of ordering a glass of only one thing to get the full wine experience. It was cool to try wines from a brand that we enjoy to see if there was something that we'd like to buy a bottle of to take home. The painting element was a themed wine glass, which was cool. There were two fairly easy paint options. The instructor was super friendly, helpful, and attentive. We all enjoyed tasting the wines and painting. Would definitely do a paint night here again. read more

OK folks, I'm gonna leave you with this tip. It involves a little bit of driving but trust me, its so worth it. Come to the Pindar Wine Store on Main st in Port Jefferson and buy a bottle of "Spring Splendor" You can use "Winter White" but trust me, this works better. Now go to the David Peach Farmstand and buy a jar of their fresh Sangria mix. Dump both items into a pitcher and let sit for a few hours. Stir You'll have the freshest tasting Sangria that's great for Saturday night guests or it also makes a great brunch drink. Its doesn't save very well so don't think you'll make this and have it sit for the following weekend. Cheers! read more

I did not know there was a Pindar store out here, but lo and behold a walk up Main Street presented me with such a place. My mother is a big fan of Pindar Whites. I think they are too sweet and not really the best of LI picks, but regardless I figured I'd pick some up for her. The woman working here was extremely helpful and pleasant. It's a small store and there was an elderly couple in there who needed help selecting wines and she did a good job of talking to us both and helping them as I picked bottles out. Prices are much less than liquor stores and the worker really knew her stuff and did not mind chatting. Parking lot at the base of Main Street and some spots outside. read more

John the bartender was top notch. He even indulged us by judging an impromptu art contest (I won!). 5 tastings were included in our group event... Offah, we didn't use them all. We had a good time here. The bathrooms are across the way in a barnesque area. We had fun here. I wasn't a huge fan of the wine profiles. I drink cabs but found the Pythagoras to be my favorite. I was in the area and I Have never seen a Pindar store before. Years ago I went to the Pindar winery, Which was really cool. I really do like the Pindar wines. The store is on the small size, But has a good selection of red and white wines. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Excellent location right on main street in port Jefferson. Recently heard this is not just a store but a wine bar as well. Stopped in today with a friend and the college age girl in the store, Jenny, was super friendly, knowledgeable and filled us lifetime Long Islanders in on some stuff we didn't know...like Jason's Vineyard is a part of their family too. There is no restroom inside as it's not currently zoned to be anything more than a storefront. Also no munchies; just wine. Jenny offered us some chocolates. There is a small bar and several high tables to choose from; accommodates 16-20 comfortably. Has lots of potential should they choose to expand and offer a cheese platter and do some interior decorating to create more of an ambience. We enjoyed a few hours of downtime and sampled a warm cider blend as well as the 2014 reserve Cabernet bought by the glass. Would definitely recommend stopping in while walking around or shopping in downtown; really added to our afternoon. read more

I'm a big fan of Pindar wines - I frequent the tasting room on the North Fork often. I was thrilled to find out that they have a wine shop closer to home in Port Jefferson. I came in this past weekend with my boyfriend to escape the frigid cold outside and was delighted to meet such friendly employees waiting to greet us. We were excited to see the large variety of wines to choose from and thoroughly enjoyed the wines that we chose. We didn't feel rushed or bothered at all during the entire tasting experience. Keep out any serious wine drinkers. Almost all wines we tried during the tasting were too acidic, including their Port wine. Even if I were to excuse the substandard wine, I cannot excuse the ambience ruined by two very chatty and loud youngsters manning the store. I certainly wasn't interested in their love life, especially because for almost an hour it kept intercepting the peace of my weekend. Will never go back here. Very disappointed 2 young girls running the store.They seemed to know slot about the wines.initially it the experience started out nicely but then friends of one of the employees came in with their son after that it was all about them and my friend and I were ignored .we sat up at the front if the store and the employee and her friends were so loud that we couldn't even hear ourselves talk never was asked how we were doing how the wine was.when we were leaving there wasn't a "thanks for stopping in"or anything just oh did you pay did not even remember we of even if I did like any of the wines I would not have purchased any.considering it's in a tourist town right off the Ferry should have been a fun experience not annoying listening to rude and loud conversion with employee and her friends would never go back or recommend to anyone.hope the owner of the store reads the review read more

Visited this store to have a wine tasting on a day trip to Port Jeff. Our experience started out okay but went downhill during the tasting. Some friends of the employees came in and they began talking and chatting loudly. My friend and I were completely forgotten. No one checked in on us. We were not asked if we would like to purchase any cheese and crackers; there was nothing to cleanse our palette between wines. When we got up to leave we were asked if we had paid, which we had at the start of the tasting. I was surprised that no one asked how we liked the wines and would we like to purchase wine. This store is a great location and has great prices. Most bottles are under $20. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable about the wines. I would recommend this store to anyone that enjoys wine. The young woman running the store knew so much about wine for her age. She was able to let me sample wines and recommend based on my opinion something I absolutely loved. I was so impressed ! Impressive! Long Island wines have come a long way. We came in this past Sunday because we saw a sign on the door advertising a new release. We were greeted with a hello as soon as we walked in. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were immediately offered a complimentary tasting of their new wine, Pindar Moscato. Very delicious! We decided to try a few more. For $5.00 you can select 3 wines to taste from a wide variety of Duck Walk and Pindar. The lady helping us was very helpful with our selections and described the wines as we tasted each one. I chose the Duck Walk Pinot Grigio, Pindar Sunflower Chardonnay, and Pindar Riesling. My husband tried the Pindar Pythagoras, Pindar Merlot, and Duck Walk Cabernet Sauvignon. We both shared and truly enjoyed the wines. We were curious about a couple of special reserve reds but hesitant about the extra charge until we were told if you like them and buy them, the charge is deducted at purchase. My husband tried the Duck Walk Malbec and I tried the Pindar Mythology. The generous pour was well worth the $3 and $4 dollars. Probably would have cost $10 for a glass in a restaurant. What do you know, we purchased them both so we really tried them for free. The Duck Walk Malbec is a bit pricey at $49.95 but we bought a case of assorted wines so with 20% it was well worth it. We ended up paying $36 after discounts. We will be back with our Christmas list! read more
