We were just really pleasantly surprised and touched at how things were handled by him. My late relative was in his nineties when he passed. This parlor is adorned with truly tasteful, antique, restored items and furniture from a bygone era, some from when my relative was in his prime, no doubt. During the visiting hours we met other relatives I hadn't seen in years, and the atmosphere fit perfectly the memories that came alive in our conversations together. And not something you often see with a catered buffet but was so good! I also LOVED the chicken French (with artichoke hearts and lemon) and this cucumber tomato and fresh mozzarella salad, another thing not often seen. My Aunt and Uncle lived in Batavia since the 1960's having emigrated from Sicily in the early…read more1950's. They had no children, and made their arrangements with Gilmartin Funeral Home in the early 1990's. When my Uncle passed away in 2010, everything was already in order, and Gilmartins made things easy, refunding unused money after the funeral was done. My Aunt passed away in early 2018. Again, everything was taken care of. The owner's son, Tim, had taken over the place by then. I asked for a nice flower arrangement for my Aunt, but there was not enough money left. So Gilmartin picked up the tab. Wonderful people. They treated us like family members. It is a year later, and I am writing this now because I just received a letter from Gilmartin Funeral home. It was a letter saying they were thinking about us, a poem about our lost loved one, and a beautiful knitted snowflake ornament. Incredible. They are the best.
