We recently were famished on a weekday afternoon, and popped into the sunny, spacious ale house for a late lunch. There was a little mixup with my vegetarian order and I was served meat instead, and the staff handled the error immediately and were so gracious and apologetic about it. It's ok, that happens! I happily ate the veggie burger they brought out and enjoyed the fries and my glass of wine. We'll definitely be back and bring our friends here! Friendly staff (wasn't busy so easy to get spoiled :-)), I am very picky about my Fish and Chips and this was some of the best battered fish that have had locally. Got to also sample the Prime rib French dip and was as tasty as friends said it was. Bun was soft and delicious with good amount of meat. This place has been incredible to get a beer and they have a great/different selection than the normal brewpub. The food looks incredible but I have not eaten anything, as I am usually visiting during a practice and by myself. Stage is great and very kind... they even have locals they love and that love them! I had to saddly write this review, we are costumers in this place and come to spend a good time with my wife, we like the atmosphere when we first come and decided to be best spot for us since we live close. But yesterday night I come with my Mom of 86 years old that visit me to share a great moment, we only spend a couple hours there my youngest boy have burger, my mom, wife and me had an appetizer and beer, when my son finish the burger one of the server bring us the check without requiring, my wife call our regular server that she know us for being at the place many times before and tell her, Why give me the check if I'm not required I love to be here and our server ask , who was? then said us sorry about that and we order couple beers more, when we finishing our beers i request check so when our server come to take payment my wife asks to her to bring the last beer to her ( the same t like my wife do all the time), so server bring her last beer , all was good until the manager come to us and throw out cash on the table and tell my wife , there is your $ for the beer I'm not going allowed to drink it and please you guys be out of the place. That situation made us feel disappointing and feel humiliation since we wake up from the table What we did wrong? But the Cherry on the top. My wife and I love this place. It's very close to our house but we come here because we love the staff. We really feel like we've gotten to know everyone that works there in front of house and they welcome us like regulars. Service is always quick, prompt, and fun to interact. The beers are also really good and the food is consistently good. If I had any suggestions it would be to have some specials or some food that changes. DO NOT order the Ribeye Steak Sandwich. The steak very clearly was not cooked fresh. It was either cooked earlier in the day or even frozen before. I asked they cook it on the rarer side and the waitress, a few minutes after ordering, came back and said the most they could do was medium rare. That was the first red flag/sign that it was probably cooked earlier in the day and then reheated. Food came out super fast too which had me a little suspicious. Obviously I don't want to wait forever but for how fast it came out it raised some alarms in my head. My steak was cold in one part and was unappetizing. Bread and au jus was fine. there is no menu for alcohol that is not beer... so you don't know the prices of drinks . A glass of their house cab is $22 apiece. That is more than most entree prices and it is not that delish- worth $22 a glass..., even with a 10 ounce pour. That's all I have to say... The food is pretty good but if you want a few drinks to go along with it you're paying so much more than what this place is worth. We have gone to Pine Lake Ale House a few times. Each time the food was okay. Nothing special. The fish tacos were dry and flavorless, and the burgers are edible but nothing to write home about. The fries are great. What really made our decision to never go back is our youngest child. We are a family of 4, and our youngest has a medical condition that keeps her from eating food outside of what we make her/bring her. But the other 3 members of my family wanted to go out to eat. So we packed up food for our youngest and headed to Pine Lake Ale House. When we arrived, they sat us down and then proceeded to tell us that outside food is not allowed. I told them that our youngest cannot eat their food, and they said rules are rules. So they would rather lose the $150 (including tip) from the three of us eating, because a 6 year old brought a small meal? If it was an adult coming in to enjoy their AC and TV, while munching on some take out, I would understand asking them to leave. But a small child? When the rest of the family are paying customers? We will never go back to Pine Lake Ale House. The service was terrible and not inclusive to others medical needs. read more

The bartender Annie is the sister of Kevin who owns it. Annie accidentally charged us for too many drinks, adding 2 more to the bill than we had. When we looked over the bill and asked her politely about the discrepancy, she abruptly took off her glasses and said, "if you are going to question me than our relationship is over." She claimed she had nothing to gain by overcharging me (umm, well...money) and when I asked her to review the security tapes she and Kevin refused, claiming that they have been in business for 25 years so they must know what they're doing. The waitstaff are amazing! The food is not too bad either. The one downside to Pine Lake Ale House is the beer selection. There are way more IPAs than anything else. It's hard to get excited about going here regularly when the menu never changes and the beer selection is lacking. I think getting rid of an IPA or two and adding something else would help. read more

I've been torn on this place for awhile. It's convenient, being pretty much the only bar in the north part of the plateau, and the food is great. But I've noticed two things I really don't like about the place. 1) The atmosphere. Hard to fault the bar for this but every time I walk in there it feels like everyone else thinks they're Norm from Cheers, specifically spending the whole time engaging with the waitstaff. Not usually a problem since they're able to sling without distraction. 2) The beer. This one I'll absolutely put on the bar. This is a problem for most tap houses but especially in Washington. They have some 20 kegs and every time I go in there, it seems like 75% of them are all just IPA's. I get it, IPA's are popular especially here, but my god, get some variety. Never an ale on tap that isn't pale. No reds, no browns, no scotches... The closest I've seen lately is a hefeweizen. Whoever's selecting the beer seriously needs to get some variety. read more

And to be honest, I feel sad to be posting this review because I have been going to the Pinelake alehouse for 20 years. The family that owns this restaurant has always been wonderful and that really is the best part of this restaurant. However, after moving away, and during the visit of my sister, I was able to come and see these guys again and was looking forward to some great food. Here's the Happys, great service sunny wait person and amazing onion rings. Now for the crappies, my sister and I ordered Cobb salads and my brother-in-law ordered a chicken sandwich, he had a beer, normal size and my sister and I had two glasses of wine. Although the salad itself was fresh, the chicken was tough and not a lot on it. There was too much dressing service, so we weren't even able to finish the salads (19!). The chicken sandwich was good. The choices of wine are weird, meaning there are none. You either get 5 ounces or 9 ounces for sizing. We were not provided with a drink menu, and just assumed that the wine prices would be for whatever house wine they had, I mean, it's a Brew house, right? For that meal our bill was $130. It was shocking and then once we reviewed the receipt we found that we were charged $20 for the glasses of wine and they had poured a premium wine of a local winery, which really wasn't even good. I appreciate that they made it through Covid and I'm so happy that they survived. However, prices like these should be communicated. We felt like we had been gouged. read more

We have been to the Ale House on many occasions but last evening was a letdown. I had the fish & chips and they were a disappointment. The fish was overcooked and rubbery and the fries were lukewarm and a bit mushy. However, the housemade tartar sauce is outstanding. My wife had the tacos and they were just OK. Service was spotty with no follow-up after food was delivered to see how everything was. Maybe just an off-night, but disappointing none the less. read more

This went above our expectations. We were expecting boring overpriced American food. Yes, the selection wasn't great for vegetarians/pescaterians, but there were a couple of interesting items on the menu. Prices were also on the high side. That said, the portion sizes are hefty. You do get your money's worth of food. The fries are excellent, the fish tacos well executed. My husband's veggie burger was very average, but served with a very nice side salad and plenty of toppings. They don't charge extra to swap out fries for the side salads either. In general, the food is much better prepared than I was expecting. What gives it the extra star is the beer selection. They clearly have somebody on staff who knows how to put together a great beer selection. There were several we were really interested in and we ended up trying two of them there and later finding another one that had been on the menu at a local store. All three beers were excellent: Wander's cherry sour, a lilikoi wittbier (from Colorado), and Mack and Jack's grapefruit IPA. Often fruity beers don't work, but these were stellar. I particularly recommend the sour. I could drink that all day, every day. We ended up having a highly enjoyable evening and even our kids enjoyed it because they were able to eat standard American food (something we hardly ever go to a restaurant for). read more

The servers are quite personable and I have yet to figure out how they remember our names considering how many customers they serve every day. We are very disappointed in the food quality and portion size. This has never been an issue until our last 2 visits. Service is slow and lax. Beer list is overweight with IPAs and many, many beers on tap are out, with regularity. We have dealt with the service and beer issues because the food was great. This business must make changes. We feel like chumps spending our money supporting a business like this. Business loves to emphasize how long they have been in the community and how their food is fresh and local. I would give 5 stars for the service. For the food 3 is generous. I'm one to give a place a second chance because some dishes just are not their specialty. In my case I felt like the burrito I had was one of those dishes. The inside of the burrito was good (it's hard to mess up beans and steak). It was the outside sauce that ruined the burrito. As I was eating this burrito I kept imagining Gordon Ramsey's face as he ate the sauce on the burrito. The sauce was awful. I felt like I was eating a mixture of spaghetti sauce and enchilada sauce out of a can. It was the worst sauce on a burrito I've ever had. I should have gone with the Monte Cristo. To the business owner, I'm sorry for leaving a low review as I know this is your livelihood. But you need to be aware that this dish is not your best and it's an overpriced burrito at $16.99. I understand what you are shooting for, it's just missing the mark by a mile. Go back to the drawing board. Go to Los Bigotes de Villa and try their burrito. Their sauce is much better and it will help you. I say that with all respect. I will say this, my waitress was awesome! She was attentive and was graceful when she asked how I liked my meal. I told the truth and her reply showed grace. Fantastic service. I'll give this place a second chance, but I'm going to stick with the burgers or appetizers. Bar staff is rude and unwelcoming. They regulate what conversations you can have. Food takes forever to come out and they make you feel like you're the problem. I've tried to give them another chance at least three times and every time I've left feeling like I inconvenienced the staff. Have ordered take out about 10 times since this stay at home time all started a couple months ago. Its been delicious each time and especially the kids menu items. My little guy is a fan of the grilled cheese, quesadilla, and chicken strips. Its rare to ask him what he wants from a certain place because usually its just one item like from chipotle or red robin etc so for him to actually like multiple items from a restaurant is really worth 10 stars! The entire process for pickup and cleanliness that has been used is top notch. Props to Annie and all who make it a great experience.
