Stumbled upon a little treasure in Apple Hill today! We were on the hunt for fresh produce and were tempted by an open sign, a beautiful barn and a cowboy standing in the doorway! This is a family owned apple ranch/farm and they are transforming it with beer on tap from Solid Ground, and house made hard ciders! In addition, they are serving up Texas style, melt in your mouth Brisket (just drooled a little) with sides! They have bigger plans for the business...like live music and perhaps another building that will serve as a resaurant. I'm excited to see them grow! If you live in our area, go check them out and beat the heat! They're open Friday thru Sunday for now and this weekend was their soft opening! read more

Very cool spot! Super low key. When we came it was after apple season, but they have a great selection of local beers! They have some food available, but the real draw is the view, games, and atmosphere! Cornhole, checkers, connect four, and tabletop shuffleboard. We spent a few hours here with our family and everyone had fun! Spent about $25 for 2 apple cider shandys and two beers. The facility is great. We enjoyed looking at the booths with items for sale and the kids enjoyed the tire swings. The low rating is for the absolutely horrible customer service. It was so bad, in fact, that it became humorous. The situation is so simple... people (probably from suburbia) come up the hill to enjoy a day outdoors together, picking apples, tasting apple products, and leisurely shopping for homemade items. We expect from the proprietors, a friendly smile and basic customer service. The better the experience, the more we buy. The older gentleman at the entrance to the orchard was cantankerous at best. As we approached we were greeted by his harsh tones and words about filling our box and how it wasn't a good idea to take pictures in the orchard. I figured he was one of those older men that SEEMS super grumpy as he's joking then eventually smiles and everyone goes about their business happily. Not the case here. We walked past him and entered the orchard believing he had been joking. We had 6 adults, 2 kids and 2 toddlers in our group. We meandered through the orchard, taking pictures to commemorate our day in Apple Hill, picking apples, and just enjoying our time. After about 15-20 minutes we headed toward the cashier to pay for the apples we had picked. As we left the orchard the older man started barking at us about not having a full box. We started to understand he had not been joking. He said he would call the cashier and let them know that we were coming with a box that wasn't full. We arrived at the cashier and were greeted by ANOTHER, VERY GRUMPY older man. He also barked at us, grumbled under his breath about us, and made it very clear that we had not followed the rules... the whole time acting as though we had purposely tried to get one over on him. The truth is, we simply didn't understand their policy (and frankly, we still don't). One of the things that he complained about, ad nauseam, was that we had spent too much time in the orchard and we never did pick a full box - this was said AT LEAST four times. (This is the point that it became humorous.) Suggestion to Pine O Mine: A simple sign that explains that you ONLY sell apples by the bushel (or half bushel) would make it all SO MUCH better. The existing signs about the price per pound are misleading... makes it seem like it is acceptable to buy 1 pound or 20. If your sign read something like "6 pound minimum", that would also make it more clear. Another idea is to let people buy as much or as little as they want, take their money and send them away with a smile. read more

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. For my birthday, I dragged my husband (who is up for anything BUT apple picking) to Apple Hill with no real expectations or plan in mind. We're Midwesterners who are often still taken aback by the sheer number of humans who can occupy a space on Saturday afternoon. Since this location seemed to have customers but wasn't packed, we decided to stop. We were disappointed in the selection of apples- most the Fujis had either been picked or were rotting on the tree (we *are* in a drought so I don't expect the typical Midwestern farm with 10-15 varieties). There were plenty of granny smith, although when I got home I learned they were mealy and weren't very good. After seeing the lack of selection and my suspicion that the apples weren't going to taste good, we picked about 6 apples and headed back to the shack to pay. As we approached the cashier, the older man looked in our box and pretty much yelled at us for only picking a few apples and how we might as well have gone to the grocery store. I wish I did- the last apples I purchased at a grocery store were edible and the employees at Safeway didn't yell at me. It's partially on me that I am a sensitive person, but this interaction completely ruined my Apple Hill experience. We paid for our apples, left the Apple Hill area, and drove to Georgetown for lunch. His cruel tone took the wind right out of my sails and I didn't want to do anymore apple picking or even be in the area anymore. read more

It's a cute farm with some cowboys that run it. They give you a bag that 30lbs for $30 and you pick your variety. Since my husband and I only want golden delicious that is what we got! It's so fun going through the orchards pick apples not many farms allow you to do so. We had a fun time and people need to stop getting upset. I would be irritated too to have someone in your family keeps on picking and your bag is full and your kids are picking? That means you went over 30lbs... save some for the rest of their customers. You can tell when love is put into every deliberate action. Pine O'Mine is a labor of love, and it shows. The people who run the orchards bean with pride as they tell you "You'll love our Fuji's" and encourage you to take the bigger bag -- not necessarily because they want you to buy more, but because they believe in the goodness of their fruits that much! It's pretty awesome. There's a cute barn, tire swings for kids, lots of hay stacks and logs to lunch on, and rows and rows of pristine orchards to pick your own apples in. Great photo ops. The trees and rows themselves are immaculately maintained, and it really shows just how much they love their trees. Such a nice family, very friendly and very helpful. They even show you how to best pick apples, "do the twist!", so you don't make more drop on accident or hurt the trees....that's real salt-of-the-earth love right there. Would definitely come back here to pick and would recommend it to anyone! read more

This is the only farm in the area that will let you pick apples. When we pulled up, we saw nobody and thought we wouldn't get to visit because it's very early in the season. A very nice man pulled up and told us that he was understaffed because of a power outage, but that he would never turn away people who wanted to pick. He told us to go have fun and pay him what we thought was fair. He said you can't put a price on memories! He is right! Such a welcoming environment with beautiful apple trees! I've been coming to Apple Hill every year since I was 5 years old. Somehow, in all those years we never actually picked our own apples. Last year in October 2013 I came to Pine O' Mine with my husband, sister, and mother. The so called "angry old farmer" mentioned in another nasty review was actually a very friendly man who kindly instructed us how to correctly pick apples and which rows contained what apples. (For the record, to correctly pick an apple, you give the stem a little twist so that the apple comes right off the branch without yanking or pulling at the branch, causing several apples to fall to the ground.) If it's true that children are not able to pick in this orchard anymore, it would be thanks to the careless and lazy parents who are not teaching and watching (parenting!) their children. We had such a fun time picking the apples. The orchards were so beautiful and the trees just filled with apples. When we were picking (around 10-11am on a Saturday) there was maybe one other family picking too, but the orchard is so big that it seemed we were the only ones there. The freshly picked apples were incredible! SO sweet and crisp and perfect. The Fuji apples here were unlike any store bought Fuji apple I've eaten. And the granny smith apples made for a perfect pie. :) Such a fun experience. read more

Stopped by because of the bbq and beer sign and wow they made it worth it! The bbq was Texas style and was so good and they are starting to go for a brewery/tap house so they had some really good beer on tap. Looks like the new generation in the family is taking this spot over and they are making it the spot to be! Plenty of outside space with misters and shade all around. Mathew and Austin are great and hilarious! This is for sure gonna be the next big thing with Austin running the helm, look forward to coming back. read more

It's spectacular, magical, amazing, wonderful, we really enjoyed it. We went right before close and were greeted nicely by Grandma and Grandpa. When you walk toward the Fuji and Granny Smith apples you pass by Tire swings that are very enjoyable to swing on. The trees and grounds are well maintained and you see hardly an apple on the ground. We have never seen an orchard that is in such pristine condition with no rotten apples. Highly recommend the Golden Delicious and Granny Smiths, Fuji's have been picked clean. my girlfriend really loved it and we shall return again in a couple weeks :-D read more

Yummy Blueberries!! We stopped here in July to eat a picnic lunch and pick blueberries on our way to a camping trip. There are picnic tables by the red barn and some tire swings. A very clean port-a- potty was centrally located. There was also a sink with running water. It was stocked with paper towels and soap. Berry picking with kids can be messy! We were happy to have those little perks. This is a small family run, family oriented farm with friendly people and delicious fruit. I think you will have a great time! read more

Our family spent the day at Pine O'Mine Apple Orchard and enjoyed every minute of it. My 1 year old grandson helped pick Granny Smith apples and loved it even though he doesn't have enough teeth to eat one. This is the only orchard I know of that will allow you to pick your own apples. If you can't pick your own apples, why bother going? We walked through the pumpkin patch and selected several unusual pumpkins. There was an old tractor on site and we took great photos of our grandson pretending he was driving. The barn had loads of local goodies like wildflower honey, beef jerky, and onion garlic almonds. The local food vendors on site offered delicious pulled pork sandwiches, bratwurst dogs, apple pie shakes, apple cronuts, and caramel popcorn. We will definitely make this apple orchard our future destination for years to come. read more

Our Pine O'Mine visit was so fun and the orchard offers a great experience for all ages (7-73 in our case). This is one of the last places left in Apple Hill to pick apples yourself and probably the best one. Austin and Dylan are incredibly nice and exude a welcoming and warm vibe. Cute little place. Got drinks from a small food truck- great apple cider shake. Small selection of goodies inside the building. Small little pumpkin patch good for pictures. This was a u pick apple farm, so we got some bagged and went to go pick the fuji apples, but there were none to be seen in the trees, perhaps out of season already? So many red, ripe apples were piled on the ground. So we went to the other side and picked golden delicious apples, these were still in the tree. But $3 a lb for these apples? May over priced! Why am I paying more for soemthing that I'm picking myself? The price added up quickly. read more

Angry old farmer with beard and cowboy hat talks down to guests! If you have kids I would stay away from this u-pick orchard! We have been here with the kids a few times mostly because of its close location to the freeway, however, this angry old farmer with a beard and cowboy hat always lectures us on how to pick apples as if we alone are responsible for the wasted apples in fields. Each year the lecture he gives to folks before giving them apple bags or boxes gets more condescending with anti-children statements. This year 2014, he was not allowing young children in the fields, they have to pick apples in front of the stand area which does not have a good selection, and you are not allowed to pick the fuji apples without taking a 40 pound minimum! Seriously, the reason the angry old farmer has apple loss is because he has "people" picking apples into October which is way past the due date for ripeness and the apples are falling down on their own. His age discrimination policies should be stated in a sign as you enter rather than allowing families to get out of the car and being told they can't go out in the orchard. Or better yet, allow families to go out in groups with one of his hands to assist. If you have kids I would stay away from this u-pick orchard which by the way increased prices 10 percent from last year. The apples here have always been sub-par compared to Raley's Supermarket. Pine O'Mine apples are small, light, and not so sweet with near retail prices. read more

I'm writing this review on behalf of my wife, who hours later is still too upset to do it for herself. It was her birthday weekend and our daughter was committed to a kid party on the other side of town. So, my wife decided to put her new mixer to work making pie and made the trek up to Apple Hill with our special needs son to get some apples. A little while later I receive a call from her in tears and this is what she described to me: While starting to pick apples my wife decided to take a pic of my son as he was taking one off the tree. As she is bending over doing this, an older farmhand rides up on an ATV and stands over her and starts berating her and my son for "Walking between the trees". She is being apologetic (For what I don't know?) as he continues his harangue. She continues to try and diffuse this crazy situation by being calm and telling this lunatic that our son is autistic and being just being curious. As she stands up, he pushes her very hard on her right shoulder almost knocking her over. (I sincerely doubt this coward and bully would push a woman with a man accompanying her) At this point, my wife says "Don't you touch me" and understandably gets more upset. This all happens in front of another family who are understandably aghast. Meanwhile, my son who mistakenly believes he is at fault for getting his mother pushed and yelled at puts his hands over his ears and crying uncontrollably. They walk towards the main "shed" as he continues berating her for the entire time. My wife locates someone who appears to be the owner and had this conversation: Her: "Your farmhand yelled at my son and pushed me that's unacceptable, what's his name?" Owner to Farmhand: "Did you push this woman?" Farmhand: "No" Owner to my Wife: "There you go, it didn't happen then darlin'. You need to get your son and git, go ahead and git on out of here" Her: "Is this how you treat customers, what kind of business are you running?" Owner: "It's a Ranch. You ain't bought anything you're not a customer, git" At this point, extremely upset she heads towards her car, and is taken in and comforted by a very kind lady who appears to be an outside vendor working a booth at the farm. She explained to her that incidents like this happen quite a bit at this farm. After she decompresses a bit, she calls me, and I tell her to call the sheriff and file a complaint. No one should put their hands on a woman, especially with a small child in tow. Also, I mentioned that she should try and get contact info for anyone who saw what transpired. Unfortunately, some time had passed, and it hadn't occurred to her to talk to anyone who may have seen what happened. The sheriff's deputies showed up, and according to my wife were very kind and understanding. They made it seems as though this was not their first call to this place. Anyways, they talked to her and said that she could file a complaint but without anyone who witnessed the incident handy, it would be difficult to prove it. (Needless to say if you were there and saw this please message me) Realizing there's not much she can do at this point, and with no apology forthcoming, my wife decides to not let these crazy old men ruin her birthday and afternoon with her son. They head to other apple hill attractions. Based on my wife's experience, and other very similar reviews here on Yelp, it goes without saying that this "Pine o' Mine" should be avoided at all costs. If you are a woman or a child, you run the risk of being treated disrespectfully and possibly more. The moral of the story (One of them anyways) is to check Yelp whenever possible. Based on the numerous similar stories, there is no way she would have patronized this awful place had she known. read more

They now have a ridiculous 20 pound minimum at $1.25/pound for u pick. They can't crack a smile to save their lives, and would rather send us away than take our money. We won't be back. Our family normally loves this place to pick apples but since we were the only Asian family out there, I guess it gave the douche bag the "right" to be a dick to us.
