We visited on a Friday, the day before the first weekend of Lavender Days. I'm a big fan of anything lavender, so I was really looking forward to all the lavender-themed goodies at the bakery, but unfortunately, nothing lavender was available yet, even though the little menu on the counter said different. why show it then? Super disappointing. I don't understand why they couldn't offer at least something lavender-related on the Friday before it officially starts. We visited other spots in Apple Hill that day that did offer lavender goodies, which I happily bought. I love coming to Apple Hill on Fridays to avoid the crowds, so it was a letdown. Once we arrived, the signage was confusing. There weren't clear directions pointing to anything, and we honestly had no idea where to go first or what any of the buildings were until we asked another customer in the parking lot. Turns out the farm-ish house was the bakery--but the guy working there just wasn't it. Not friendly, not helpful, and didn't seem to want to be there. We walked out since there was no lavender and nothing else caught my eye. Then we saw the winery area up the hill--and that was the saving grace of the visit. It was beautiful! Barely any people, no wait, and we even got to choose where we sat. The views were a solid 10/10, like something straight out of Oregon. So peaceful and scenic. We did two wine flights. They only offer one standard flight that includes both reds and whites. I prefer whites, so I asked if I could try more of those instead. They were super accommodating since they said it wasn't busy, which was great--but I can imagine that might not be possible on a crowded day. It would be awesome if they offered separate red, white, or mixed flights in the future. The tasting included a welcome sparkling (not listed on the menu), followed by five wines. I was also offered a rosé to try, and eventually chose the sparkling I'd had in the beginning as my glass pour instead of finishing the reds, although the 2023 Picpoul one was definitely my favorite. We also ordered the grazing plate ($30), which says it serves 2-4 people, but honestly, it was perfect for just the two of us. Nicely curated and a great pairing with the wine. It was such a nice experience to sit outside in the shade, sip wine, and enjoy the scenery. The only downside was the dog situation. It's dog-friendly, which is great for some, but I personally don't think wineries are the best place for barking dogs. When one dog sees another, it's just a chain reaction of noise, and it kind of kills the relaxing vibe. We were told that they usually get busy and that reservations are recommended for future visits, so we felt extra lucky to have come on a calm Friday and scored a perfect shaded table.

Apple crisp, yum! Would however suggest getting ice cream on the side

Rarely do I find places I crave to go back for more. This was it. This location is beautiful. What adds some extra to it for me is that they have places for you to sit, a beautiful trellised mountainside with vines where you can picnic on grass with stunning views. Mind you there are many steps so if walking is an issue for the view seating may not be for you. However at the top which is very walk in friendly is where you can order the pies and there are picnic tables to sit at. The pie selection and options are stellar. Their pies are top notch no quesrion. The walkin pie was fun to try but not my favorite. The farmhouse and cottage were my favorites, I suggest icecream on the side. Also they have cheesecakes, as a non cheesecake fan these are really really very good and worth eating any time it's available. We even got 2 pies to go and both were phenomenal as we served them at parties. The kicker they have wine on site and if that's your thing this is a nice place to have a picnic, pie, and cocktail. Will be adding this to my annual list as I loved it so much and kicking some of my other apple hill long timers off.

@delfinofarms and Joan's Apple Bakery!! Sojourned up to Apple Hill the day after Halloween to beat the weekend crowds and explore more various apple themed farms. We made it to Delfino Farms which provides beautiful views from either the wine tasting building or the separate bakery. We hit up Joan's Apple Bakery, where as you order, you see the bakers in the background cooking up super fresh n' hot pies using apples picked fresh from the orchard! It was an awesome display. Ordered and shared the Walkin' Pie, which was a mini- mountain of an apple pie with a big ladle of hot cider sauce lava heaped on top with a bowling ball scoop of vanilla ice cream plopped on top. It was momentous!! Hot, fresh, apple-ly, molten cidery, buttery, and flakey. It wasn't too sweet either! It's a must visit when you're gettin yo Johnny Appleseed on in Camino Ca. up on Apple Hill.

Nice view with refreshing white wines. They were out of the food we wanted to order, which was a bummer. Felt like we couldn't have the full experience or drink as much that we wanted because there wasn't food. Good wine and service, though!

Absolutely love this venue! Came here a couple years ago for wine tasting at Edio Vineyards, and then came here again this year for Joan's Bakery (which I've had in the past also). It's absolutely mandatory you try the Walkin' Pie at the bakery at least once in your life! It's like a hill of apples in one personal sized apple pie (which you definitely could share with a couple of people). Top it with a scoop of sweet vanilla ice cream, and you're set! But if I'm being honest, my favorite treat here is the apple cheesecake. Sweet, decadent, and eaten a la mode is the way to go! I didn't do much exploring around the property, but I saw that events are held there as well. A food truck was stationed near the bakery, but I didn't get a good look at what it was. There was also a little maker's market going on in front of the bakery the day that I went. Such a nice place to people watch on the lawn, get a sweet treat, or shop some local goods!

Took my mother and my dog to apple hill 9/20/2024 I wanted us to try the walking apple pie. We also got a glass of cider to share. $13 for both! Very calming picnic benches right outside the bakery. We walked just to the bakery and back but it looked like a lot more that they had to offer but we had many stops to visit.

Came to Delfino Farms for the first time, during this years family trip to Apple Hill. Last year we decided to ask friends and family for suggestions on places to visit, which was really successful last year. And of the places we visited last year and really like, we wanted to make sure we visited those places again and any new recommendations we got this year...and that's how we came across Delfino Farms, and their famous "Walking Pie". I didn't know what to expect besides having only heard of this "Walking Pie", but had never seen it until I saw it in person. Luckily we got there when we had, because there was only one customer in front of us. And by the time we sat outside at one of the wooden tables, the line was then outside of the door. Imagine a pie that is made to look like a large mound of homemade mash potatoes, with a pool of gravy in the center. But instead the dessert version is a small softball sized pie dressed over with cider sauce. And top with a large scoop of vanilla ice cream. Along with the walking pies, we also took home a frozen apple pie and apple crisp to enjoy during the holidays!

Beautiful view! I'm an east bay girl so we don't get these views often at home. The last time I saw full fall I'd say was when I lived in another state as a kid! Fall foliage views have always been in the back of my mind and this definitely scratched that itch. The ride up was beautiful as well. I just wish we had stayed a little longer for the views, but alas, we had other farms to explore. There are two parts to this farm. To the left of the parking lot is a modern structured building where you can purchase drinks and a charcuterie board to enjoy. Fancier. To the right you've got scarecrows, pumpkin painting, local businesses (to do some gift shopping outdoors), and a bakery that smells so good! Everyone is ordering the famous walkin pie, eating or drinking on the picnic tables, cute dogs are everywhere, families out and about. It was a lovely morning. Really love this kind of rustic vibe in the fall. Crisp air with a hint of apple pie. It's a vibe. Further down there's a tiny small flower garden/planters and then some more tables toward the bottom of the hill. Looks like they host musical performances in the evening. I'd love to come check one out in the future, when the fairy lights turn on at night. Not very ada friendly where the trees/vines are, but still viewable! Bring a picnic blanket and enjoy the view, or sit in the shade by the tables. We had the walkin pie with ice cream on the side, since some friends are lactose intolerant. The bottom of the pie, the crunchy part, was actually the best part! Some friends also said they thought it would be better with the ice cream directly on top. Otherwise it's a novelty item, worth the try, but not worth the travel just for this food item. But with the combo of the views and other offerings on the farm I'd highly recommend this place and would love to come back.

Come for the chill vibes and scenic vibes but don't roll down the hill while you enjoy yourself. Waited in line for more than 45 minutes for the walking apple pie and it was unfortunately a let down. The family behind me said they don't get anything else by the walking apple pie. The walking apple pie is the their version of a slice of pie. If you can bring your own fork the sporks are hard to eat the apple pie. The crew was very nice and informative. You can see the team making fresh pies while you are ordering. You can even join a membership club and get a discount on Delfino wine. Tip- they take Apple Pay. Chill on the hill and bring your doggo!

Ask the Community - Delfino Farms

Do they still have a nature walk?

Not that I know of. In the ten years we have been going there, I have never seen or heard anything about a nature walk there.

What are the baking instructions for Apple Crisp? I purchased one but did not receive directions.

The crisps are already baked. You just need to warm them in the oven, or scoop servings and microwave them.

Is the tasting room dog friendly?

The interior part is not dog friendly however the patio seems to be. Just make sure to do reservations and I'd mention the dog.

Are they open to the public? Do we need reservations?

Open to the public Thursday-Monday at the winery. The farm is open seasonally. During peak summer and fall weekends it is definitely best to have a reservation, but other times you probably won't need one. Good to call when you are planning on going…

My 11 year old daughter and I came to the Ferry Building for a fun Mom and daughter morning. We hit the Rainbow Orchards stand first, for what was my first and sure to be last visit. We waited to the side while a customer who was there before us was helped, chatting about how much to get. That customer left, and he took the elderly guy who came after us first - no big deal. Then it was our turn and I asked him for 5 dollars worth and handed him a 20. I had 4 singles and a 20, and the choices were either 5 dollars worth, 8 dollars worth, or another amount I can't recall. He told my shy daughter snakily "Don't grow up to be a person who comes to the Farmer's Market and doesn't have exact change." It felt out of line for him to address her in that way. And, he's already complained about me not having exact change. Hey, either sell us the blueberries or don't, but were not here to be a sponge for your anger. So, I observed flatly, well, we don't have to buy anything. And he said, "yes, you do, because I already have your money." Okay, so another aggressive and weird response. I reached out to get the bag of blueberries, since evidently he was giving me no choice other than to buy them, and he backed up so they would be out of my reach. It was like the 4th rude thing he did that was unprovoked. I managed to get the bag and walk away, but he did ruin a chunk of our sweet trip to the Farmer's Market. I wonder how many shoppers had to deal with absorbing his hostility that day.

Since we didn't want a full pour, we asked about a smaller size. The server showed us a half-glass, which was perfect, but we later realized we'd been charged for a full drink anyway. By the time we left around 10:30, cars were lined up down the road waiting to get into the lot. Parking definitely seemed limited for such a popular event. Judging from the lines outside other Apple Hill venues as well, my advice is to avoid weekends if you can--or at least plan to arrive early.
