A good spot to stop if you're hungry and thirsty during your Apple Hill visit. Larsen has an apple barn, museum, small picnic area, and bake shop on the property. The friendly demeanor of the apple sampler in the barn cancelled out the bad attitude of the lady who sold us food in the bake shop. Still did not appreciate my friend being talked to like that but I guess that is what happens when the peppy no filter clashes with the grumpy no filter. Anyway, bake shop purchased yummies including veggie dog and pumpkin cookie were both very good, and I appreciated being able to pick up a pint of apple cider to go. They offer many other things at the bake shop such as turnovers, pies, cookies, additional desserts I don't feel like listing, sandwiches, and beverages. The apple barn smelled amazing, and we got to try a bunch of apple slices. I had never tried a mutsu apple or Arkansas black apple before and both were delicious and interesting. Mutsu is a golden delicious bred with a granny smith and the Arkansas black is thicc in texture/skin and sort of has a caramel sweetness to it. We liked sitting outside at the picnic tables and playing PoGo. Thought about heading over to the museum to look around but there was a hat cultist inside so neither of us felt like spoiling our day with that kind of aura iykyk. Maybe next time. You know what they say about one bad apple. Leave it on the ground, the rest will be just fine. Extra parking across the street but be so careful crossing the street. I did not notice any vegan options to confirm either way, but they do have many vegetarian friendly snack and meal options. Prices are reasonable for the area. We were recommended this place from some of our church friends! We loved every minute there! The museum is interesting and informative, with so much history. The food was memorable too. In no time, we bought and shared an apple strudel, and it was great a la mode. We also enjoyed the apple exhibit, where we were recommended Mutsus and Jonagolds for making apple pies, and we proceeded to buy a box of both($28/each), with a small bag of honeycrisps and two jugs of their unpasteurized apple juice. Let me tell you! That juice warmed up is so flavorful and darn refreshing! Don't let the floaties put you off, it's delicious!! My girlfriend and I spent the day at apple hill. This was our second stop. We arrived around 10:30 on a Sunday. It wasn't that busy when we arrived. Each Farm has something they are known for and from a friend we heard that this place had the best apple dumplings covered in their special sauce. We came here specifically to try their apple dumplings. My girlfriend brought 6 to bake at home. We went to their apple barn and they have some varieties of apples I've never heard of. They offer samples of their fruit in their main building - which I love. And, they have a bakery in another building - where you can get pies by the slice or light bites. This is one of the truly authentic apple farms/ranches, and well worth a visit. There's not as much kitschy gift stuff, and it concentrates primarily on the product- apples. They had a station set up for samples, and after I tried the Arkansas Black, a bit tart yet quite uniquely delicious, I bought a bag. Came on a Friday thinking that I was smart and avoiding the crowds. The line was long to order lunch but we are here as they have vegan items. You order at the counter and there are a few seats inside but the line to order weaves through soupy are better off eating outside at the tables. My suggestions is you have a choice of chis or potatoes salad with your food order but I would much rather have an apple. We ordered the veggie sandwich which comes on sourdough bread without the cheese and Mayo and the veggie dog. The veggie dog was tiny for $8. The s veggie sandwich was lettuce, tomato, red onion and pickles with a thin spread of avocado and I would not recommend it. This was my first time to Apple Hill and my 3rd stop on our trip! This place was different because it had a museum, but not a ton of other things to do on a Tuesday at 1pm. However, the staff that we came into contact with were very friendly! We were already stuffed by the time we got here so we did not try and of the food or pies. In the bigger building there was a man giving apple and pear samples. He was able to recommend the apples based on flavors we generally like. They sell apples in crates and in smaller 3-5 lb bags. They have a bunch of varieties and a little taster station which I found helpful. The guy who helped us cut some of his favorite apples and we picked some to try as well. They also sell mix for mulled cider, apple butter, and some other goodies. The bakery on site did not have donuts when we went but they had other treats that sounded equally as good. We brought our well behaved dog into the barn but not the restaurant. read more

Our second stop on our Nevada Day Apple Hill trek. Just a very short drive from our fueling stop. Larsen has plenty of parking at the barn and across the street. Several different varieties of apples and pears were in boxes on shelves in the barn. Lesson learned- if you are baking or canning, ask at the register for seconds. They may have a blemish or two, but still have all the flavor for a discount when purchasing a box. Staff will have to retrieve these boxes from refrigeration for you. Larsen offers a cart for you to get your several boxes to the car. They offer baked goods in a separate building. While there check out their great little museum. A building that has replica rooms and lots of tools from the late 1800's. Behind the museum there's a log cabin and several old tractors and other pieces of farm equipment. Great stop. read more

Great place to visit. They have an "open air" free museum with lots of relics from the farm and tons of old tractors. They sell apples by the bag and box (and have some of the best prices I've seen in the area) and they are DELICIOUS APPLES. Totally worth it. They also have a pie shop, but we didn't try. This was my first visit to Larsen Apple Barn and I'm sorry to say for me it was just meh. Aside from the museum there was really nothing that set this spot apart from any any of the others. I did buy some bagged apples but other than that there was nothing that caught my attention. That said, I didn't visit the bake shop but I was already full of apple dumpling and trying to make room for donuts sooo maybe I'll have to give them another shot, lol. read more

They also carry nut products, pears, apple juice and pies. I came to buy Arkansas Black apples, a type that's new to me. Bought a box of Arkansas Black apples, a bag of winesap apples, a bag of pears and apple juice. There's a tasting table so you can taste every apple they're selling. Cash and credit accepted. Summary: Good pies and pastries, great pear cider, absolutely cute free barn/outdoor museum that is pet friendly. Came here on a Monday in October after heading out of Rainbow Hill since it's just down the road. It was nice and quiet. They have a large parking lot, which was nice, might get full on weekends though. They have a little house to the side that you can order food and pastries from. From what I remember all seating is outdoors, either on the tables outside or some tables on their porch. Nice and dog friendly. We ordered a cup of apple cider, a cup of pear cider, apple oat cookies, and a sour cream apple pie. When we ordered the apple oat cookie the cashier actually gave us two because she said that the cookies they had left were small, it was very nice of her! The pear cider was amazing, very smooth and sweet. The sour cream apple pie was incredibly creamy and amazing! Highly recommend both! After we had some food, we went to the free barn/outdoor museum. Very cool! They had scenes scraped with old furnitures and mannequins, as well as vintage farming equipment and cars/carriages. We were able to take our dog in too. It was very nice. First time here and we stopped for lunch! The parking lot was huge, which made it very accessible. There's a super cool waterwheel that you have to check out when you visit! Founded in 1860s! Larsen Apple Barn goes back almost 150 years! If that does not qualify it as an Apple Hill original, I do not know what will! We have visited Larsen Apple Barn twice. First there is the barn where you can purchase from many varieties of apples and other farm goods. There you will get to sample various types of apples before purchasing your favorite. Their apple and pear ciders are very good. Believe me I have filled myself up with both over the last few weeks! Then there is the bakeshop which is all about pies! The apple pies are delicious as are the Marion Berry and Harvest Pumpkin Cream Cheese. This bakeshop has probably contributed to two additional inches around my waste this fall!! Last, but not least, is the Larsen Farm Museum where you get to see part of the fascinating history of this farm, and perhaps Apple Hill. I highly recommend a visit if you are in the area. read more

My first trip to Apple Hill and, well, I guess I don't get it as a tourist destination. There's apples, and apple things, and that's about it. I couldn't imagine making a whole day of apple farms. So we did a one and done Apple Hill stop at Larsen's Apple Barn and it satisfied my Apple Hill curiosity. We sampled apples, bought apples, drank apple cider, and consumed an apple baked good (an apple dumpling which was sweet and delicious, with a really nice crust). Needless to say, I was all appled out in under an hour. There was plenty of parking the day we went. Prices seemed reasonable. We LOVE Larsen Apple Barn! Probably my favorite Apple Hill place, that I come every year. Why? The apples! The best place to get fresh apples! Family owned and operated. They are Christians and close on Saturday. Hats off to them for keeping their beliefs, and passing up the busiest day of the week to honor their beliefs. LOVE their free museum in the back. Relics from the past. So great for kids to see and appreciate a piece of history. We were fortunate to meet the oldest living matriarch of the family, when she was visiting. Love learning about history and seeing it is even better! Their apple dumplings are divine, and they have homemade veggie burgers. My first trip to Larsen Apple Barn was amazing! Just a walking distance from Rainbow Orchards. They sell a variety of apples (pink lady, Arkansas black, fuji, etc.) and two varieties of pears (e.g., Bartlett and Bosc) in their shop. They had a stand where you could get tastings (followed COVID safety procedures, yay!) I also visited their bake shop for a quick lunch and to grab their well-known pies and pastries. There was plenty of outdoor seating available which allowed people to socially distance while eating. I was a bit concerned, however, that some employees in the bake shop were wearing clear shields as opposed to cloth masks that fully covered their nose and mouth.. some employees in the kitchen also had their masks moved down to their chin (leaving their noses exposed) while preparing food. My first visit to Apple Hill was this past Friday (10/30.) I had read a lot of Yelp reviews and was nervous about visitors following COVID safety measures as well as crowds and long lines. After reading up on Larsen Apple Barn, I made this my second stop on a day of exploring the area. Not crowded at all on a weekday and plenty of parking, this is a quieter corner of Apple Hill that feels more of an authentic farm experience. They have the Apple barn where production is happening, a small bakery with a beautiful patio and across the street a park with beautiful trees changing colors and a big lawn to spread out on. There's also a farm museum which we didn't go in. Loved wandering the grounds here! Didn't stop at the bakery since we had just eaten lunch but would definitely want to check it out next time. This is a simple, pretty spot to spend some time outdoors and away from large crowds. Signs asked visitors to wear masks and social distance and I felt comfortable with most visitors complying. Also be sure to check their hours and days they're open. They aren't a 7 day a week operation from what I could tell. read more

I decided late on a Sunday to bop on over to the Hill. So I hit up this place. I haven't been here in ages. The cool thing about this place is that it's not an overly large operation. It is a smaller production and has more of a non commercial feel. They are the longest family farm operation on the Hill; they go back to the 1860s. How awesome is that!? Anyhoo Larsen opens up for Apple Hill season from Labor Day through the Sunday after Thanksgivings by. Sunday-Friday 9-5. But for the museum it is Sunday-Friday 10-4. NOT OPEN ON SATURDAYS. Well it is family operated, understandably folks need to rest. They have a store, agricultural museum, and bakery/eatery with indoor and outdoor covered seating. The store sells nuts, dried fruits, apple cider, and of course apples...by 20 pound box $20, 3 lb bags for $3.50. They had a nice fella cutting up slices for sampling and answering questions, Great. The apples were crisp, juicy, and flavorful. Plus they have a grassy area across the street from the store that has a waterfall creek. There is a footbridge. Nice area to let the kids run amok, have a picnic (bring your own blanket-there are no tables), lay down and cloud watch, or whatever. The bake shop sells tons of desserts- pies/dumplings/ turnover/cupcakes....& on. Also they have savory items, like sammies and salads. Apple turnover is my fave; my must get.
