The pine street bakery is well worth the time to go there. We stopped in for bake goods and got so much more . We started with a sausage and egg sandwich and ham and Swiss pastry. Both were amazing the ham and Swiss was very Chrisalmost like Philo Dough. Sausage and egg sandwich was very filling and quite tasty.we also got a selection of pastry's . We got a chocolate chip crumble that was delicious very crunchy and chocolate. We also tried marionberry hand pie and pumpkin cheese cake muffin a raspberry blueberry Kolacke all were so good. The counter server had great opinions on what to try. The counter was well organized and everyone was so helpful it was a joyful experience.

What a lovely bakery! My husband and I stopped by after getting some prints done across the street and we grabbed some lovely goodies! The bakery was bustling but they got through the line efficiently! Everyone was very friendly, even the folks in line! It was very cozy and had a great patisserie feel to it. We really enjoyed the treats we got!

I stopped in here late morning on a weekday while visiting the area. I'd heard they usually have a few gluten-free baked goodies, but when I visited they only one gluten-free option, a muffin. The Hubs and I picked out several types of treats to take home with us and enjoy over several days. Everything was scrumptious and was even good over the next few days. They also serve breakfast & lunch sandwiches, and other savory options. There was quite a line, so it's definitely a popular place with the locals.

I was in Hood river for work and a local coworker suggested that I check out this place when asking for a good local coffee shop to work for him for a few hours and to get something good to eat and drink. Was not disappointed! In fact, I decided to go with Chai and got an oat milk, sweet chai and it was topped with cardamom and rose and the best chai I ever got. I ended up returning to Pine Street before I had out of town to get one to go. I also ordered a Berry muffin to go, which I ate the next day that was still absolutely amazing.

I usually love this place, today I ordered a veggie piggie to go. It is not heated all the way through and there were about two slices of pepper and two mushrooms inside.

Excellent spot. While the bfast savory options are limited, I'm so happy they had a simple yet so tasty bfast sando. You can get with or without meat. Meat options are bacon or sausage. Get the limited cruffin if it's available (we got the peaches one... tasted like peaches n cream). Would come again

Wonderful pastries with a fun selection!!!! Also unique seasonal drink options, which is always a bonus. Had some coffee struggles bc you order at one counter and they make it at another (opposite side of restaurant) and had some mismakes that we didn't realize till too late. Also the chai was a bit sweet for my taste. But still definitely recommend this spot, particularly for the pastries!!!!!

On 9/14/23, I visited Pine Street Bakery in Hood River, Washington for the second time. My first trip was last September. This time, my primary goal was to get a Cardamom Knot. That was my primary goal last year too, but I didn't have the foresight to call ahead and ask them to hold one for me. Cardamom Knots are based on Swedish Cardamom Buns called Kardemummabullar. Traditionally, they are less sweet than a cinnamon roll, with a brown sugar cardamom filling, and sprinkled on top with Swedish pearl sugar. Pine Street Bakery's version is described as "Challah dough slathered in vanilla butter, sprinkled with cardamom sugar, tied into a knot, and brushed with vanilla butter." ($3.50) I was a little bit underwhelmed with my Cardamom Knot. It looked beautiful, but it was a bit dry, didn't seem to have been slathered with anything, and there was little, if any, cardamom flavor. I would like to try a Cardamom Knot again, but next time by a different bakery. Sparrow Bakery in Bend, OR is well known for their version, which they call an Ocean-Roll. I also bought a few other items, most of which I brought to my Dad, but sampled: Cherry Turnover ($5) Blueberry Rhubarb Turnover ($5) Cheesy Breadstick ($2.50) Cranberry Walnut Scone ($4) I also got 4 cookies: Ginger Snap Chocolate Chip Shortbread Ginger Oat Almond Sandie The turnovers looked beautiful, but once you cut into them, there wasn't enough filling, and the pastry was over-baked and too dry. The same could be said for the Scone. Scones should be dry, but this wasn't dry in the dry/crumbly sense that a good scone should be. The dough seemed a little overworked, and the scone itself was over-baked. I enjoyed the Cheesy Breadstick, which was soft and chewy. The cookies were all just so-so. The first time I visited this bakery, I gave it a 5 star rating. This time, based solely on the items I purchased, I would give it a 3 star rating. I do plan to return at some point and try their coffee, maybe a piece of pizza, and a sandwich. I know that businesses are having a hard time finding and hanging onto staff. Based on the discrepancy between my first and second visit, I think it's possible that there might be a new baker in training, so I am going to cut them some slack. Regardless of my second experience, this is a very popular bakery, and there's always a long line during morning and lunch rush. If you're visiting Hood River, it's definitely worth checking out.

Everything is fantastic! Their grainy breads, shortbread cookies, pastries, cinnamon buns, cupcakes, coffee, chai, salads & sandwiches are off the chart delicious! Even though the name says bakery, I encourage you to stop here to pick up a sandwich to either eat there (outside tables) or take with you for your lunch break while out hiking. All sandwiches come in different types their freshly baked bread or baguettes which adds to the deliciousness. The Italian Sammie is my fave; it's absolutely crave-worthy. Salami, capicola, Mama Lil's Peppers, white cheddar are topped with baby greens dressed in a honey vinaigrette that is heavy on the vinegar which I love on a sandwich. It helps cut through the richness of the meat. The house made baguette elevates the sandwich, the crust on the outside with an evident chew on the inside, it is the perfect vessel for this sandwich. It's on the grab and go area and since it's a,ready wrapped, you can't make changes but who would want to? Wish they cut them in half which would make it easier to eat half then and save half for later as it's too much for one sitting, at least for me. They are famous for their shortbread cookies and for good reason. They are more complex than the typical three ingredient shortbread if butter, flour and sugar. They add made from a heartier flour mix so they are a bit denser and crispier than your typical shortbread. And not as buttery, which imho is better. They sprinkle in candied ginger and oats in one version; almonds in another; and a chocolate sea salt to seal the deal. Just a dollar a piece, get all three! My faves are in the order I listed them. Love the variety of texture and flavors in the ginger crisp version Especially. All of their baked goods are on the less sweet side which matches my preference. They do't just use white flour and white sugar and it really makes a difference. I can eat two cookies without doing a crash and burn! They have not opened up the inside table service yet, it's take out or you can purchase and eat at the outdoor tables and chairs along the sidewalk. Friendly service, incredibly delicious baked goods and sandwiches with a full coffee bar. Five stars and counting!

We all got different sandwiches and every single one of us loved what we got. Wasn't too busy on a Friday morning, plenty of open seating. They did have pastries as well but did not partake. Ordered the bagel and lox which was amazing- came with all the fixings such as tomatoes, capers & red onions. The salmon was fresh and the bagel was nice and toasty, just the way I prefer. Got to taste the sandwich with the jam and loved it. Kind of wish I got that sandwich instead just cause of the jam. The bread was really good too- I think they were homemade english muffins. Everything on the sandwich was just chef's kiss! All of the employees were really nice. The place was clean as you have to "buss" your own table. Glad that people can follow directions. The drinks my group ordered came out piping hot and was served with a smile. Cool spot!

You order at the counter and they bring it out to you. The dining space is bright with tons of seating. I love that they make their own bread!! It's super soft and such a nice touch. I usually go with the turkey which has turkey, white cheddar, tomato, pickles, onion, lettuce, and hot mustard. It was a bit spicier than I would have liked, not that it was too hot, but that flavor was really dominant for me so I'd probably modify it a bit in the future or just build my own . My daughter loved her ham sandwich which comes with sprouts, avocado, and cucumber. My husband also really liked his Italian and their clam chowder. This place is definitely worth a stop if you are hungry in the Gorge!

Split the St. Helens Burger, an order of fries, and a side salad with the recommended goat cheese (trust them--it was the right call). The burger was everything you want it to be. A fresh poppy seed bun, a perfectly cooked patty, sweet caramelized onions... and then came the poblano pepper. That little bit of smoky heat tied the whole thing together. Now let's talk about the fries because they deserve their own paragraph. These are, without question, my favorite fries. They arrived hot, crispy, perfectly golden, and had that satisfying crunch that makes it impossible to stop at just one. If you're a fry person, these alone are worth the visit. The side salad was fresh and flavorful, and the creamy goat cheese took it from "just a side salad" to something I'd happily order again. It was the perfect balance to all those delicious fries. If you're looking for a place that consistently delivers great food in a welcoming atmosphere, Kickstand Coffee should absolutely be on your list. We've yet to have a bad meal here, and it's one of those places we recommend without hesitation to friends, family, and anyone who asks where to eat. I now wish I didn't let my husband eat more of the fries. Gotta head back up there soon! Service was great and love that the girl at the counter asked me if I was doing anything fun today - extra friendliness goes a long way!

They have plenty of outdoor seating for your little pups, though the water dish they left out was unattended to. As far as food, they had a whole plant-based menu to meet my vegan needs. More important, they were able to make a gluten-free sandwich for my partner with celiac. They took precautions to minimize cross-contact with gluten items, including wrapping the sandwich up separately and bringing it out to us first before bringing out our gluten containing items. The three in our group had mixed reviews on the food quality. I enjoyed my reuben very much. My partner and his mom thought their food was okay, and their portions were too small for the price. As far as the actual store goes, they carry a lot of what your typical natural foods store or food co-op would carry, though the prices seem more along the lines of what a Whole Foods would charge. For example, $3.50 for a single avocado. Considering that they are a small business in a somewhat touristy town, I guess that is a sound business decision.
