It was difficult for us to find a nice celiac-friendly place for lunch that would allow us to bring our dogs, but this cute little store met all our needs! They have plenty of outdoor seating for your little pups, though the water dish they left out was unattended to. As far as food, they had a whole plant-based menu to meet my vegan needs. More important, they were able to make a gluten-free sandwich for my partner with celiac. They took precautions to minimize cross-contact with gluten items, including wrapping the sandwich up separately and bringing it out to us first before bringing out our gluten containing items. The three in our group had mixed reviews on the food quality. I enjoyed my reuben very much. My partner and his mom thought their food was okay, and their portions were too small for the price. As far as the actual store goes, they carry a lot of what your typical natural foods store or food co-op would carry, though the prices seem more along the lines of what a Whole Foods would charge. For example, $3.50 for a single avocado. Considering that they are a small business in a somewhat touristy town, I guess that is a sound business decision. All in all, a good experience, just expect to pay a little more if you are going to shop or eat there! read more

I have celiac and they assured me it would be safe for me to eat here. I know not all restaurants are trained in how to prepare food for allergies or celiac but this was the most absurd experience i've ever had eating at a restaurant. If it's not safe i'd rather someone just tell me. This kid wrote down "celiac" 3 different times acted like he understood what celiac was and the precautions. I think received my sandwich and asked if it was the gluten free bread, he looks at me like that was the craziest thing to ask. Takes it back comes back out with the gluten free bread on the same plate and told me to change the bread off the sandwich which is not at all how celiac works. He then took it back a third time after i asked for a refund and told me it was gluten free but it was the same bread as the first time. I know this review won't help everyone but hopefully it'll help someone. I saw a few other people with celiac said it was safe and i'm glad they had a good experience. The Farm Stand is a small grocery store that carries the basics plus the not so basic. Meat, dairy, produce, fruit, baked goods - local and organic. They even have a cafe that serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, smoothies, kombucha, coffee and chai drinks. Love that they accommodate so many dietary requirements. Even though I eat everything, I have many vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free friends so when we come here, everyone can order without having to ask for swaps. They have an entire section of menu that is plant based. Lots of salads and always soup. And their smoothies are made without dairy. Even in the grocery section there are lots of gluten-free bread, cakes, cookies and boxed mixes. For the carnivore and dairy eaters, don't worry, there are plenty of options. As with any small, local grocery store, prices for some items are in the high side. Cost for convenience. Located in the "heights" area of Hood River, I'm so happy this Farm Stand grocery store & cafe exists. Friendly staff and efficient service. It does get busy on Saturdays during lunch so be patient! Here is the issue $9 for a dozen starting price for eggs almost $5 for bananas. $40 vitamins that you right now can get at grocery outlet for $5 to $20 same brand same amount same everything across the board. To survive this store needs to do some discounts or rewards some way or sad to say in 2-3 years store will just be a restaurant. You can use the organic as an excuse for prices but i buy only organic and get cheaper prices everywhere else or maybe it's a smaller business. It's not going to cut it. On a camping trip with Airstream condo-on-wheels in tow we always need groceries to fill up the pantry and load the refrigerator. We prefer local and organic. This is a great place to shop for all things - meat, produce, fruit and dairy. And do not forget the potato chips and chocolates! It's small store but I'm pretty jazzed with the good selection. They also have a nice café with Covid friendly, social distancing tables for eating outside. I've never seen a grass fed pastrami sandwich on a menu anywhere. They have it! I ate it! The Farm Stand is a small grocery store and restaurant. I was able to find gluten-free pancake mix and breads. Grocery prices were a bit on the high side, but this is a small local store, so that is to be expected. I ordered from the restaurant a dairy-free, gluten-free grilled cheez and smoothie. The grilled cheez was pretty small, but I can't complain because not may places can do a dairy-free, gluten-free grilled cheez. The smoothie was various berries and apple juice, no dairy! They had three indoor tables and kept very strict Covid standards, which I appreciated!!! The staff was super friendly, the restaurant prices were reasonable. So my first review was deleted for apparently "violating Yelps Terms" ... so I'll try it again: This place is sloppy, messy employee's and messy kitchen. The sandwich was dry and lacked flavor. I don't remember all the specifics, because it has been a while and I just realized my review was removed. I do remember that we got a veggie sandwich; there was the thinnest veneer of hummus with some veg on the sandwich. The hummus was so thin that it didn't offer any moisture or flavor to the sandwich, and overall it just wasn't a good eat. The kitchen and employee's were both very sloppy. There was garbage and food debris on the the floor and counters, the employee's were lackluster and wearing sweat pants. Out of about 50% of the food. Then took 25 minutes to get a breakfast sandwich and two pancakes to go. Not impressed.

Right away we are greeted by a happy worker. They don't have espresso so they kindly recommended we walk down the street to the bakery that has some while we wait for our food. The bakery was super busy so we walked back and got their coffee anyway which was so great! They have alternative milk out on the counter for you. I had one of the best breakfast burritos I've ever had, not too much cheese and a nice mix of veggies with egg and black beans. This is the third time I've tried this place, getting a bulletproof coffee. All three times the coffee was different and a different size and today it's all sugar. So I don't know what she put in it today but it's completely different than the last two times it like I say, it's always different. That and the fact that I just waited 18 minutes for a bulletproof coffee. And the place is not packed. The menu looks good but the wait is just too much so I'm done trying. Thank you Farmstand, especially Anna and Finley. We shopped at and had breakfast at FarmStand in the Gorge this morning. It is difficult to find a healthy vegetarian breakfast in Hood River. (they do animal protein as well) The cafe's healthy offerings of such are the main reason we go there regularly. We had a fantastic experience! As a team, Anna and Finley prepared a breakfast for us that accommodated for my food allergies. We had a modified veggie bowl, a pancake platter, and a couple of sides we paid for. We would not ask for this during a busy time, but it was early. We also had great coffee and a well prepared smoothie. Anna worked with us on the order and recorded everything accurately. Finley created the most artistic, beautiful, and possibly most healthy breakfast I've had in Hood River. I could not be any happier with the presentation, flavor, and value of the breakfast that they prepared for us. This is one of the few dining experiences in Hood River that is actually worth the money. We'll keep going back for that same quality. Thank you again. read more

This was a mixed experience for us. We had the Grass Fed Reuben and the Ultimate Beef Burrito. The food was great, but most of the staff seemed unhappy to be there. Our meals were brought out all together. All members of my lunch party liked their food. I ordered a wrap and a bowl of soup. My only negative is that the soup had floating oil on the top. The soup was good with fresh vegetables that were cooked to perfection (tender yet firm) but I couldn't move past the floating oil. I would not order the soup again. My entree was very flavorful and all ingredients were fresh. The bread was quite good - toasted to being golden brown yet still was soft enough to not hurt the top of my mouth. 4 stars for having a damn decent vegan selection at the lunch counter, and for having a great natural foods store with all the crunchy goodness built in. FSITG has become a regular lunch stop for me when I'm out in HR for work. The cooked food side of this operation can be all-out chaos during lunch rush. At least once I've had my order completely forgotten (it's a totally lo-fi, handwritten ticket system) but the staff, despite how in the weeds they can get, are always in good spirits. But from this chaos comes goodness.... Tasty vegan reuben! Also T-BLAT (tempeh-bacon, lettuce, avo, tomato) is a good choice. The vegan grilled cheese uses their house cashew "cheese" spread and while it in no way mimics actual cheese, it's still tasty. It's just nice to have a section of a menu that's plant-based and not an after-thought or obligation. And one of the soups seems to always be vegan too. They also offer smoothies, breakfast stuff, and plenty of meaty options. Bring your patience and good cheer. Good food takes time. The grocery side is pretty damn well stocked with dry goods, perishables, produce, meats, and vegan foodstuffs. Grab a bag of chips and a Topo Chico to go with your sando or soup. The rustic potatoes and variety of veggies are so delicious and the seasoning is on point. We've been coming here for 4 years now and the deli has always been very good food. We're able to get our sandwiches in a coconut wrap and love their meat options. The food was good, the service friendly, and we were able to grab a few healthy snacks on the way out for my weekend class (which is what took me to HR.) I love that they have a lot of vegetarian and vegan options, but I was disappointed today after opening my salad when I got back to my hotel. I got the simple green salad and the onions & tomatoes were left off. Bummer. So it was just salad greens and cucumbers with dressing. A simple salad, but even still it was made wrong.
