Came here for the first time while I was visiting a friend and it's pretty convenient to get to! A good portion of the orchard was closed off for some reason so we didn't really get to explore the grounds but it was fun being able to walk into the shop to pick up some items like the donuts, pies, and the hot apple cider was delicious! It's cute too because there's a couple of picnic tables to hang out and enjoy the scenery. read more

Beautiful orchard with a store for purchases, a pumpkin patch, and a nice grassy area near the lake -- a great view. Everyone working here was helpful and the cookies, donut, and apple rollover we got were amazing. Only downfall is that you cannot pick your own apples, but the A grade apple crisp look great and we purchased some. read more

I had a great time at Pine Tree Apple Orchard. I went on a beautiful fall day and it was BUSY! I was surprised it was so easy to find parking but there was a long line to enter into the Pine Tree shop. Once inside the shop there was a wide array of pastries, baked goods, and fresh apples for sale. Everything looked very tasty. After walking through the shop we chose to walk around the property. There was a large area where people could eat and listen to live music. Past this was the apple orchard and beyond that was the pumpkin patch & the corn maze. We chose to do the corn maze and paid a small fee to enter. I was surprised how large the corn maze was and spent a lot of time walking through the maze. We then walked through the pumpkin patch where we had the ability to pick out our own pumpkins. I loved Pine Tree and will visit again in the future. read more

It's a yearly family tradition to come to Pine Tree every autumn. Not only is the orchard gorgeous but plenty to do for the entire family. Corn Maze - They have a corn maze at $4.50 a person which includes finding the letters throughout the corn maze, unscrambling them to reveal a word and once you discover the word you get a tiny honey crisp apple at the end! Yum! Pumpkin patch - they have a pumpkin patch next to the corn maze on top of the hill. Great selection of pumpkins. They have an open field by the train tracks and water for kids to burn off some energy or take cute pics with cutouts and a cute little house for kitties to play in. Lots of yummy stuff to buy at the inside store. Even some gfree treats if they aren't already sold out. We bought muffin mix, apple juice, apples, tea, donuts, and vanilla ice cream. Let start with parking: it's rough field parking- think off-roading. Then, they make you wait in line for ages to go into the store because they only allow a handful of people inside at a time (and let people in only as people leave), we didn't even make it inside because we didn't want to wait 30mins to get in. The thing we did like? The corn maze is a la carte so you can choose to only pay $4.50 for it and do nothing else! The maze was good, not huge, but worth the price and made for a fun 30min trek around (though, it's a hilly and sandy hike up to the maze start- a lil difficult with trollers/wheel chairs and not walker friendly!). They sell cold apple cider at the start of the maze which was delicious. Overall, it's an ok place if you are willing to wait in long lines, or just want to do the corn maze. read more

Not ADA friendly. As we were walking out after spending a couple hundred dollars, a gentleman (maybe owner) walked up to us and lectured me in a very condescending way about my son's service dog and that "pets" are not allowed. I explained she is a service dog (which she is for my very disabled son who was with us). He asked for documentation. I explained that you can't ask for that by law and per ADA you can only ask 1. If this is a service animal trained to provide a service to a person with the group. If you own a place open to the public know the laws. I'm always happy to explain and answer questions allowed by law. My son is physically and cognitively disabled with life threatening seizure disorder, this dog is specifically trained by us to alert at the early signs of a seizure as time is of the essence for him to get immediate medical treatment. This particular day and for activities like this with a lot of people we put her in a stroller because she is only 10 pounds. We completely understand businesses not wanting animals to potty in and around the business and this dog does not. A nice lady walking out when we did thought it was really rude of them to ask about our dog because she was in a stroller and well behaved. This place is not the most accessible for people with mobility issues but I think it meets the minimum standards. I think there are only a couple disabled parking spaces. It is NOT dog friendly or even care about animals as they have signs all over that say to "leave pets in the car". It is very hot today and leaving animals in cars is dangerous and irresponsible. This business wants money over people caring about animals in hot cars. We will never go back here primary because they encourage people to neglect their animals in hot cars. read more

I visit Pine Tree every couple of years. It really is a nice orchard that's about 20-30 minutes from the TC. They have ample parking and well coordinated entrances and exits. There's a nice lawn with tables for eating or letting kids play. They also have a corn maze which opened Sept 25 and the store where you can watch them clean apples. The downside to this place is that the activities really wrap up at 3pm on Sunday's but they're site says they're open till 6. So if you want to have a selection of apple items and be able to partake in activities, then you need to get there before 3pm. Otherwise there's not much to do besides hang out on the lawn. read more

First time making it out to the Apple Orchard, was also pumpkin patch season and we took a look around to find a pumpkin. The weather was beautiful that day, wind blowing and bird chirping. Music was playing in the field, and they were a hit! We walked around for a bit, had an apple along the way and looked for the perfect pumpkin but was tough to find one since we were late in the season. Great place for all ages! In the summer, you can pick your own strawberries, but in the fall, there is a corn maze where you find letters and descramble a word to win an apple, tractor ride through the orchards, and pumpkin patch with different breeds and sizes to choose from. You can even have them transport your pumpkin to the parking lot so you don't have to haul them around. There are fun cutouts and spots to take pictures with, and the orchard overlooks Pine Tree Lake. Definitely a picturesque orchard. They also have an onsite bakery with delicious hot apple pies, hot cider, turnovers, apple donuts, cinnamon ice cream and so much more. There's also a gift shop where you can buy baked and home goods including the goodies from the bakery, as well as gallons of cider or cider mixes, different species of apples, and much more. It's really hard to want to write a review due to Covid restrictions. I love this place. It's been my favorite apple orchard in years gone by. So I'll consider this more of an update for others like me that are pining away for the goodness of yesteryear and autumn desires. I'll be honest, I mostly came in the past for taking beautiful photos of the kids in the apple orchard and eating warm apple pie with their delicious cinnamon ice cream. Neither things were available today :/ They do have ample picnic space if you'd like to buy a 6 pack of their delicious apple cider donuts, 4 pack of their apple turn overs, a caramel apple and enjoy it in the yard. Everything is pretty much in larger packs so individual treats are not happening right now. And of course they have lovely bags of apples available like usual...but I rarely came for that! :-P The orchard is blocked off so no pretty photo hike allowed. And the cafe part has been closed down. Thanks a lot Covid! You can still buy a pack of 2 slices of cold apple pie and buy pint of their ice cream- but that just isn't the same to me. It's fall and time to hit the apple orchard. As a newbie for Minnesota orchard visits I wasn't exactly sure what to expect. We were told to park up on a big grassy hill and walk a while to get inside. They were busy and so they were parking people where they could. It was all coordinated nicely though. We stood in line probably 10 minutes waiting to get in the sale shop to get our goodies. They had donuts, pies, rollovers, muffins, syrup, honey of course apples and much more. So much to choose from. I guess my biggest complaint is there are so many varieties of apples. How do you know if you'll like this big bag you have to purchase. Other orchards I've been too have samples so you can determine which variety you want to buy. (Maybe it's a Covid thing) The scenery was beautiful with the lake. And corn maze close by. Overall a great stop for my first one. read more

We went here for the first time last weekend and holy wow was it busy! That is what happens when you choose something within 30 minutes of the cities. The drive there was pretty through White Bear Lake's lush neighborhoods. The orchard is situated right next to the lake so it has a lovely view out. There is a shop at the beginning near the parking area and there were multiple police officers there directing traffic on Saturday at 11AM. We took the walk up the hill to the pumpkin patch. It would be nice if there were a map somewhere to tell you where you are going, as it was a little mysterious as a first time visitor with young kids. It is not very stroller friendly, as there is a long grass walking trail up through the orchard to get to the pumpkin patch. The pumpkin patch is very large and the front portion was picked over but there were many pumpkins, particularly in the back field. It was dry and dusty and I would wear different shoes (non-sandals) next time. You pay for your pumpkins up top and then they bring them down for you in an ATV so you don't need to worry about carrying them, which was great. It would be nice to have more areas for photos with the apple trees - they have roped off a lot of the orchard that still has apples, so it's hard to find a spot for photos without the rope in the way. The shop was busy with a long line but the line went quickly. We have been loving the apples we brought home with us. All in all, a good location and distance for small children and hit the mark for our "fall activity" this weekend. read more

Such a cute apple orchard!! It has all the fall activities you need: pumpkin patch, Apple trees filled with apples, corn maze, and the cutest little shop filled with apple treats to shop for. In the store you can buy Apple cider, cinnamon donuts, apple pie (full or 1 slice to go), and many other fun Apple treats! Ideally would have loved to grab some cider and a slice of pie and sit at one of the tables. COVID watchouts: 1. You can not pick apples, you have to just go into the store and buy a bunch of apples 2. There is a long line for the store because of limited capacity inside! Probably a 45 min wait. But if you go near the end of the day the line could be really short just depends on time of day. read more

Beautiful spot, they explain in signs on the orchard that their focus is producing high quality apples, lots of varieties. Trouble is with communication. Drove the family out there to learn only after we arrive that there is no apple picking. Learned only once we arrived that there is nowhere to get some lunch, or even a slice of warm pie or a single cup of cider, even on the weekend during peak season with the place totally packed with people. The only food available is from the orchard store where you can shop for orchard goods like in a grocery store, but only after waiting in line for 15-45(!) min to be allowed into the store. Also, isolated point but maybe a good example of their trouble with understanding the customer experience. (spoiler alert) There is an enormous corn maze. They have set up a game, they explain when you pay to get into the maze ($4 per head) that the goal is to find hidden around the maze all of the letters in a 6 letter word. Problem is they don't tell you that the word they chose has only 5 different letters - one of the letters appears twice in the word. So, try to imagine what happens when you and your family are searching 3 acres of corn for six letters when there are only 5 letters in the word. How does one know when to stop searching for that sixth letter? read more

I absolutely love fall and I was excited to do some basic fall activities including apple picking (*you can't actually pick apples here) and finding pumpkins to carve at a pumpkin patch. It was the perfect sunny fall weekend for a Saturday day trip to White Bear Lake. Not only was the day perfect, but the drive to/from was very scenic to round out all the ~fall vibes~. We got there around noon and it was already fairly busy. By the time we left around 3 there was over a mile of cars waiting to park (go early!!). The staff directed cars and foot traffic making it very efficient to get in. Parking is free here which is also a nice plus! Depending on where you park you can either go right to the barns, or enter through the pumpkin patches. It's slightly confusing entering from the pumpkin patches but there are signs to direct you! Here you can go in the corn maze, a hay ride through the apple orchard, walk the apple orchard (a part), find pumpkins at the pumpkin patch ($2 minimum, 50 cents/lb), go to the cafe, or buy items in the store. They also have different forms of entertainment. Left here with 3 pumpkins, a 1/2 peck of macintosh apples, a frozen pie, a 6 pack of donuts, LOTS of cute ~instagrammable~ pictures and smiles from enjoyment. We really needed the experience of picking a few apples for our toddler today. They don't do pick-your-own apples anymore, so we opted for another nearby orchard. This isn't to say that they are not a great orchard-it's just not what we needed that day. I've enjoyed buying their fresh cider, caramel apples and apple pies, just not on this visit. This is the best apple orchard in Minnesota! This family owned orchard has it all. It is super easy to get to, there is signs telling you where it is when I get close enough. The views here are beautiful! Make sure you come on a day where you can go on an hayride, which costs like nothing. It is a quick little ride that will give you fantastic views of the orchard and the lake it is next to as well as a great history and informations for the operator! The apple products here are awesome. Like I make special trips here just to buy their goodies! My favorites are the apple turnovers, apple muffins, and the chocolate chip cookies! You also can't go wrong with their apples or apple cider! Everyone who works here is super friendly. From the hayrides to people working in the store, they are just awesome. The search is over. That's actually the title to a song by Survivor for you 80's kids. Our search for our new apple orchard is also over as we really like Pine Tree Apply Orchard. Crazy as it sounds, and I agree its kind of crazy, but we have traveled South to Hastings, West to Delano, North to Shafer and East to Stillwater over the past couple of years. All of this in search of our new apple orchard after our longtime favorite McDougall's closed. While Pine Tree isn't McDougall's, there is a lot to like. First of all the drive to Pine Tree on a nice Fall day is beautiful. Lots of trees and colors. They are located next to a little lake. Very scenic and somewhat enchanted area. Lots of parking and pretty decent sized area yet I you get the small town family feeling. Walking into the apple area is a happening area. There are lots of goodies to purchase as well as an area to pick up your apples. The next room over are more goodies and gifts as well as the apple cider. Two of those for me please! The checkout process would have been more efficient and smooth if my attention didn't get diverted to the caramel apples that they had on the counter. We had to take a few of those because there would be no sharing going on with those. Love those too! We actually went to check out another apple orchard after Pine Tree and returned to Pine Tree to get some more goodies that we didn't find at the orchard we went to. We'll be back to Pine Tree again and look forward to getting more apples and even berries from them in the future. read more

I have worked at other berry patches and know the hard work and oversight it takes to time the harvest perfectly and Pine Tree has it down perfectly! Crop rotation year after year makes these strawberries taste amazing! I've picked all over Minnesota and these berries are by far my favorite! It has been a family tradition of mine since my childhood that I passed to my children. During normal years, they offer pony rides, tractor rides through the orchard, a corn maze, a pumping patch, live music, a cafe with yummy treats, apple slices for tasting various types that are currently for sale, and an extensive bakery and shop with delicious goodies! This orchard does not offer apple picking. Activities have been limited during the pandemic, but I highly recommend the delicious bakery items! We always get the turnovers, donuts and a few pies, plus some additional goodies. They also offer diabetic-friendly pies which we got for family gatherings. read more

A beautiful afternoon at the orchard is one hell of a way to spend a weekend. There is no fee to go, and parking is free. That in it's own right is probably worth a trip here. So you get to stroll around, see some apples hanging from a tree or two, pick some off the ground and throw them at a friend. Or, you pay a couple bucks to take a hayride through the orchard and see it all! But, just when that isn't sounding appealing, a smell hits. Oh dear, what on earth is that fantastic, sweet, appley smell? That, my friends, is the real reason you come here... to add an extra 30 minutes on the treadmill, and pack away some winter fat eating delicious baked stuff! The dessert cafe is loaded with awesome apple delicacies for you to dig into. The apple roll overs (or turnovers as you may affectionately know them as) are nothing short of divine. Their apple pie will have you begging for more and probably fighting with a loved one over who gets the last bite (I may know this from experience). The cinnamon ice cream - WAIT - did I just say that, cinnamon ice cream? Yeah, it's tasty, just go along with it and get it on everything you can! Apple cider licks are tangy and perfect. The muffin is soft, delicious and well worth the buck or buck and a half it is. I haven't had anything at this place I didn't love. I'll put it that way. And after you're done, take a trip through the actual store and load your guilds with apple everything from a frozen apple pie, to a basket of apples, to apple bread, apple jelly - alright you get the point. Fall is by far my favorite season. If I didn't go to an orchard and do as many fall activities as possible, I know my soul would shrivel up inside me and rot my insides. It's science. On a gorgeous 80 degree and sunny Saturday, my boyfriend and I made the trip to scenic White Bear Lake. It's almost TOO scenic, as I gawk at the gated mansions while in line at the entrance, feeling unaccomplished and poor. Expect there to be lots of other people, but I am so impressed with how organized the PTAO crew is - they direct both car and foot traffic fluidly. Otherwise, it would be a huge shitshow. After you find a parking spot (easy and free!), you enter the property by the barns and read the signs about the seasonal offerings and daily specials. Easy peasy, now just get your ass in there and start having a good time! There's a corn maze, hay ride, apple orchard, pumpkin patch, bakery, store full of goodies, and other rotating entertainment like The Elizabethan Syngers. The maze is a good size, and spans from the apple orchard to the pumpkin patches. If you find the 6 letters hidden in the maze and unscramble them correctly, you receive an apple (WOO!). We left with two pumpkins, a bushel of Honeycrisp apples, apple cider donuts, apple cider, and apple bread. Some important notes: Sadly, you cannot pick your own apples. Downgrade. But you can tour the orchard and pickup perfectly cleaned and sorted apples after. This gem of an orchard is tucked away in the northeastern part of a twin cities suburb. Dellwood, a small quiet hood. From Strawberries to apples, it's Kid friendly. Plenty of things to do with your munchkins. What some don't know is to get to the orchard, you drive right past a house that Jesse Ventura had lived in. read more

Some of the best I have found in the area - this is not a pick-your-own apple orchard unfortunately, but they do have pick your own pumpkins - hayrides - a corn maze as well. They also have strawberries in the summer. This place specializes in amazing apple products they produce themselves which you can buy at their spacious store and does not focus on alcohol products so it is very family friendly. read more

This is a place where family's are always welcome and are the normal crowd here at this orchard. You may want to stroll through the apple tree path and get some exercise in before you go inside and give into temptation. The apple doughnuts must be bought w the cold apple cider that is available in three sizes depending how thirsty you are, I tend to get a half gallon to take home with me. But the cookies and the jams and jellies are always tasty and must not be missed. It's free to come here and the quality of family fun is priceless. I used to like going to the Pine Tree Apple Orchard when I was younger, but as an adult it's not as fun. Now it just seems like kind of a hassle. I should have thought twice about asking J to come with me. He tends to shy away from these types of things and any sort of fest that's named after a fruit or vegetable. His reply after coming with... "Please don't ask me to come with, ever again". Well then... I have to agree with his frustration on some levels. 1. The onslaught of vehicles waiting to get in was ridiculous. We sat in the line with no possible way to turn around for 35 minutes. 2. Grumpy policemen's presence (maybe they were just there for the apple donuts)- It's Dellwood Hills how out of hand are people going to get at an Apple Orchard? 3. A super long long just to get in to purchase a bushel of apples or their savory apple frosted pastry. Even longer line to check out. 4. Pumpkin Patch looked a bit scarce. All the good pumpkins were gone. All that was left was the bruised, dented and dirty pumpkins. It's a MN tradition and a great place to take kids to get their picture taken by the cardboard cut out scarecrow and then post on Facebook. I think 2/3 of my friends had the same picture and pose as their profile pic last year. On a positive note, the Apple filled pastries with frosting are realllllly good and worth a purchase if you have the patience to wait in line. read more

Here's what we loved: drive was nice, bakery items are amazing, lots of things to do for a family-hay rides, corn maze, pony rides, and great picnic area with water view. Here's what we didn't like: super crowded, long line to "dine in", store was packed and ran out of donuts and apple muffins by 4:00 on a Saturday, not a "pick your own apples" orchard, port-o-potties (yuk). In summary, would we go again? Yes because the baked items are amazing. We bought the apple turn overs, donuts, muffins, cider doodle cookies, cider, and of course apples. So amazing that we tried to get more baked goods before we left but they were sold out of many items. We stood in the LONG line for dine in dessert but it was basically the same items you could purchase in the store, with the exception of ice cream for a nice a la mode. Therefore I would just buy the items in the store and find a great spot in the picnic area to enjoy your goodies. read more

I must have picked the wrong day to go (a Wednesday afternoon) because Pine Tree was lacking a few key orchard 'must-haves' in my opinion. 1. We didn't get to pick our own apples. Bummeroni. 2. The orchard area was mostly roped off, meaning we saw all that we could see in approximately 10 minutes. 3. ¿Dónde está la pumpkin patch? Perhaps it's too early in the season, but my rule-of-thumb is that if the grocery stores have the pumpkins out, the orchards should too. 4. No hay rides or corn maze access during the week. Despite the missing components, I was really pleased with the dessert shop & gift store. My group got really hungry looking at all the delicious apple-y products so we were really pleased to see that we could order treats to snack on there. I had an apple cinnamon sugar donut with cinnamon ice cream and apple topping. (Yes, they sell all of that.) I left with a gallon of cider, a bag of Honeycrisp apples, apple butter and apple donuts. Oh, apple orchards....They always seem like something I really 'should' do, but then I get there and am just kind of 'this is it?' I guess that's life without kids! For real though, the apples were outrageously expensive - shouldn't they be cheaper at the orchards than at the store? The line for fresh food items was SO LONG - all for cold donuts and a scoop of ice cream? Meh. I will say that the apple turn over was MUCH better than it looked. Donuts were meh (again, not even hot fresh donuts?) We also bought some cookies that claimed to be "cider snickerdoodles" but they seemed just like regular snickerdoodles (and they were hard, not soft, fyi). We walked up to the pumpkin patch, which was quite a walk. We would have bought a pumpkin but had no idea how much they cost and didn't want to lug it all the way back. Do they have some way to do this that I didn't know about?
