Best gym in Baltimore. You will not find another one like it. Best part? This gym has its own dog!…read morePeople who come to Exile really care about lifting. There are many bodybuilders and powerlifters, but there are also many people who just come to be healthy and stay in shape. This gym is for anyone and everyone and it's hard not to make friends here. There is a TON of equipment. All types of bars and lots of dumbbells as well as cardio equipment. There is also an upstairs that's kind of hidden but there is turf and other lifting equipment and it's usually quiet up there. There is also a women and trainer only section on the first floor. The machines are mostly old and everything is mismatched, but that's what gives the gym it's unique vibe. It's kind of like a workout museum and all the members love that. It doesn't get the nickname "East coast Mecca" for nothing.

Loki and his mama always made my day when I came into the gym. Everyone is so friendly, but also so focused on their goals and helping you get to yours. There is a women's only section which I loved because I felt more comfortable trying out new exercises there. I can be a bit shy, so I do not like to be on display. Plenty of squat racks and smith machines to go around. I love how they had multiple cardio options not just treadmills, but row machines, bikes, cycling bikes and more! Exile Performance Nutrition right in the front was awesome too! Always knew the answer to my questions! Great that you can get a water, bang, or Kenny's cookie then be on your way. Bmore MMA great too! Super nice that you can get discounts on memberships if you have both. Can also get discounts for teaching etc. Showers at Exile are spacious and clean! I lived in Baltimore and I would only shower at the gym. My home shower was the size of the chokey in Matilda. I worked out everyday, so this was a nice add on! The complimentary womens' products was a plus too! If someone forgot shampoo, lotion, or deodorant there is a little communal box to share. (Spray deodorant) I would love a Texas location!!!! ***Alphaland and Alphalete Gym in Stafford, Texas have nothing on exile!!!***

Email I just sent to Crunch Canton. Do with this info what you will. I am not about to be the only…read moreone disgusted. Initially, after my workout I was just going to ask for the gym Manager's information to simply convey my thoughts on several improvements they can stand to make. As there were no paper towels in any of the holders, which happens more often than not, I figured I would raise this on the spot. I noticed several others frustrated when going back and forth between machines, trying to be good stewards of cleanliness. And when I did mention it to the AGM, he responded by blaming the "supply chain." This may very well be true, however, there is no possible way management thought that bath tissue on top of the machine was the best option for replacing the paper towels. Especially to clean equipment. And then no sooner than I returned to my equipment, rolls of paper towels just started to appear. Funny how that happened. But it doesn't end there.  It was, in fact, another patron who thanked me for raising the paper towel concern, before he stated "not that it matters because it is water in those bottles anyway. I have been complaining about it for months, on Google Reviews and everything, but no one has responded. I just gave up." Can you imagine my disbelief when hearing such a claim at such a reputable establishment, with the awareness of what the consequences could potentially be to that negligence? Especially in this day and age, which I will simply leave there. The amount of liability alone if an outbreak were to occur would shutter this location, as well as Corporate. There was no way this was true. But I had to ask.  So again, I immediately went back to the AGM and asked him about this claim. To which he responded, "let me check on that." Like wtf? You don't know? Upon his return, he stated "oh I think I know what happened. The mixer today must have not worked and so the sanitizing solution wasn't squeezed into the bottles. See, this bottle I have here...you can see the bubbles. That is how you know there is a solution inside." To which I replied, "and how would anyone know that? We trust what the bottles say, "Light Sanitizer," but when I sprayed this on the paper towel and on my hands, no scent. Not even a hint. I could literally lick this off my hand and not get sick, this literally has nothing in it. So, you're telling me all of these bottles are water? And that none of this equipment was cleaned today?" His response, "Well, not this morning, apparently." And with the slightest sense of urgency. And who even knows if that was the truth? Like, how long has this been going on? Especially when you meet someone who has been complaining on this exact same issue for a while. There is no way this was a shock to anyone there.  I am utterly disgusted at this negligence, and you all should be too. Consequences and accountability must be administered. As a 100% disabled Veteran, please know this was absolutely a trigger. Did we learn nothing from COVID? And respectfully, one month free does not cut it. I didn't even ask for that. I simply wanted to be able to disprove that man's theory and trust that just the basics are performed when working out. Is that too much to ask? See below for aforementioned recommendations: -Have business cards available for management, not post-it notes. -Have different channels on televisions. -Have more hand sanitizer stations that have solution in them. -Have staff hang a physical copy of the day's classes on the door. -Have staff hang a clock and hooks outside the sauna. -Have staff add a small bench in women's sauna to expand seating. -Have staff turn the sauna when opening and check throughout day.  -If there are no paper towels, please place a sign on the holder. And don't insult us with anymore toilet paper, please. -And make sure there is actual sanitizing solution is in each bottle daily, with someone's initials on the bottle so that patrons can believe it was actually done! Just ridiculous. Do Better.

Another update! Back to report that the new configuration of spin class downstairs and mat classes…read more(like yoga, barre, and pilates) upstairs works very well. I've been loving Monday night spin classes with Zain - he is an incredible instructor with the best playlists. His class is some of the most fun I've had at a workout class. It feels more like dancing with a group of friends than working out. I bike about 10 miles in his 45 minute class which is something I just never thought I'd be capable of. I've also been enjoying Wednesday evening barre classes upstairs with Erin. This is a new class and I hope they keep it on the schedule! Erin is a great instructor who queues very clearly and makes the class feel fun with her high energy. As someone who primarily weight lifts, barre is such a refreshing challenge for me. I feel like I'm learning a whole new skill set in that class. For a bit, I was also liking the Thursday evening mat pilates class with Chi but they seemed to have taken it off the schedule now :( The weight training areas continue to be conducive for a great workout. My only wish would be that they replace some of the elliptical machines with treadmills. When the gym gets a little busy, it's easy for the treadmills to fill up pretty fast since there's about 8 treadmills total. Whereas, there's probably twice as many ellipticals and I don't think I've ever seen more than a few people using them at a time. I'm also not a huge fan of the fact that you now how to ask the front desk for a towel - this isn't something I've seen at any of the other locations. The bathrooms are a bit outdated and could use some updating as well.

Love this gym! The staff are so friendly and the facilities are always clean. I have all of the…read moreequipment that I need for my lifts, which I also really appreciate.
