I made Hank's biggest sale of the day two hexagonal head metric screws for 27 cents each. I went to San Diego Ace Hardware in Clairemont Square, where they were charging 95 cents for each screw, vs Hank's 27 cents. I said NO, not paying $2 for two 1.5 inch screws!!! Ace employee said it was expensive because that is now much a METRIC screw costs. I took one of the screws back to Hanks 2 weeks later because it was too short. Hanks happily gave me credit for the 27 cents so I could trade it for a screw half inch longer for onlyh 5 cens more, or 32 cents, when Ace wanted 95 cents for a shorter one.

Unfortunately, one of the keys didn't work, so it ended up being a waste of money. The store is a bit far for me, so going back to have it fixed wasn't worth it, especially with gas prices. My biggest problem is there are no directions or aisles to show a person how to check out. So we have four self-serve registers and two cashier registers with no designated entry or exit. With the entry, there are possibly three separate ways of entering to check out and guess what everybody was doing entering in those three separate ways. Talk about a snafu come on home Depot. Get your directions together please!

When I approached customer service, I explained my situation to Dory. Unfortunately, the experience only got worse. She appeared to be sitting at the desk on her personal phone with what looked like a personal journal or notebook open in front of her. When I approached, her response came across as sarcastic, dismissive, and condescending, as though helping a customer was an interruption to what she was doing. After being sent to customer service for assistance, I was then told they couldn't help me with the repair issue anyway. At that point, I was frustrated and questioned why I had been directed there in the first place. To be transparent, I did use some choice words during the interaction. However, that frustration stemmed from the incompetence, lack of assistance, and attitude I received throughout the encounter. While I could have expressed my frustration differently, it does not excuse the unprofessional behavior I experienced. The situation escalated to the point where a manager, Chris, was called over. When he approached me and asked, "What's up?" I calmly explained what had happened. Instead of attempting to resolve the issue, Dory got up from her chair and essentially issued an ultimatum, stating that either I needed to leave or she was leaving. That level of entitlement and lack of accountability was astonishing. Rather than continue the confrontation, I chose to do the responsible thing and leave the store. I went to Lowe's instead, where I was treated respectfully and received the assistance I was looking for. I came to Home Depot seeking help and guidance, not sarcasm, indifference, and hostility from customer service. This experience was disappointing, unprofessional, and far below the level of customer service I would expect.

The store is clean, well-stocked, and easy to get around, whether you're shopping for hardware, tools, or home upgrades. The garden center is absolutely beautiful--so many healthy, vibrant plants and a great variety to choose from. I even found a couple of rare houseplants I hadn't seen anywhere else, which was a fun surprise. It's definitely worth a stop if you're into gardening or just want to freshen up your space. The staff here are helpful and knowledgeable. One associate took the time to walk me through a plumbing question and helped me find exactly what I needed. Tractor Supply is a great store for anything agricultural. Feed for animals, machinery for farms,…read moregardens or even a ranch as well as what brought me in the store, which was to purchase pellets for my smoker. They don't have a large supply of items for cooking outdoors but what they do have is priced good. The store can be confusing but staff are there to help out. Always watch for sales as some real bargains can be found. We live near the wineries and various equestrian ranches so this place is pretty popular. It has its place in our community.
