This Ace is huge! We have been frequenting the one in Oceanside on Coast Highway, but that location didn't have a particular item in stock. When driving up to the Fallbrook Ace Hardware sign, I noticed the dedicated parking lot, garden center and a lumber yard. Inside, everything was organized nicely and the in-stock was impressive. There was a lawn care section and several Bbq displays that I perused while my brother-in-law looked for his items. The zig-zag line to get out was narrow and my least favorite thing about this store. But I understand the logic behind it as it is pretty cramped inside. Overall, my family prefers to try to support Ace as a brand above other stores first, so we will be back! So I came in for light bulbs for my entryway and I needed the flood light type and I needed 75 w. And I asked the guy who worked there what aisle they were in and he pointed me down the light bulb aisle and then I asked him if he could help me find them and he says oh are you talking about a car headlight and I said no. I'm talking about a recessed light in the ceiling he's like. Oh okay and I said they're called R40s and I need soft white and he's like I've never heard of an R40 before. Interesting. Probably should not be working in that department. Needless to say I did not get what I needed and so I specifically went down for that and that is the only hardware store in this town. Unfortunately this is a very small town so I'm not driving 25 mi south or north to go find light bulbs. I will order them online and the ones that they did have were very expensive for just one. I live in Fallon NV and our ACE hardware is excellent. This location wowed me also. Well laid out lots of products. The staff were so helpful and friendly. Prices were good also. I checked out and since I had several items I wanted to use my app for coupons. Rosa was awesome. She showed me how to access all my offers and saved me a bundle $$$. Update: My visit today was to look for large planter pots for my plumeria plants. The shelves for the plant containers and plants were pretty well stocked up. The shelves become bare quickly with shoppers keeping up with their gardening. There are no changes in the layout, but of course the holiday themes are beginning to make it's way into the display. I do want to update on the customer service because I find customer service extremely important. In today's world I don't find that customer service is stressed upon the employees as it should be. So with this, I am so pleased to share that the customer service at the register to this day is still top notch! It certainly makes me a happy shopper and will keep me coming back. Ace Hardware has discontinued its Military/Veteran discount, which was the main reason I shopped there for many years. Unfortunately, Ace is the only hardware store in Fallbrook. With this change, they are now similar to Lowe's, which also does not offer Military/Veteran discounts. At this point, I will only visit Ace when necessary, as I don't see myself returning since Home Depot, which is nearby, does honor Military and Veterans. During my recent visit, I greeted every employee with a "hi, how's it going?", but they just stared back at me. It's disheartening to see so many companies stop caring about the sacrifices and bloodshed made for their freedom. Went to what was once the best hardware store (Joes) around a couple years back. I can now say the worst service I've ever had occurred today. I needed some screws for a project I am working on. I went to the register with the small number of items ( 4 each, #10×24 machine screws and nuts) I went to the cashier to check out whereupon the cashier called for assistance in the form of getting another associate to give her the prices. All of a sudden a know nothing showed up to tell me it was my responsibility to price the items. I let this woman know I was the customer, but I reluctantly gave up my space in the check out line and walked back to get the prices read more

This store went to hell when Ace bought out Joe's Hardware some time ago. But being a local and not wanting to drive 15 miles to Home Depot, I kept shopping there when absolutely needed. I recently moved within Fallbrook and the USPS managed to disclose my change of address to all local businesses and I get assorted ads as well as coupons, incl. a $10 off a $20 purchase from Ace Hardware in Fallbrook. The coupon even had my full name printed on it. When I tried cashing it in while buying bark for my landscaping, I was subjected to an interrogation: They needed my address, cell and home phone numbers and my reward number. Despite all this, they denied my use of the coupon, because my wife (deceased 17 month ago) set up the account. They escalated my complaint to a supervisor, which escalated to the assistant Manager and everyone up the chain was as unhelpful and nasty as the cashier. Well, I refused to buy the bark at $23/bag when I can buy it at Grangetto's for about $13 (without a coupon). Needless to say, I got my bark from Grangetto's. Even more needless to say, I will never shop at the local Ace store again, ever! And I will encourage my many local friends to think twice where they want to spend their hard earned cash. read more

I purchased two used tables and I was contemplating if I should paint them or stain them. I have lived in Fallbrook for almost three years and I decided to visit the Ace Hardware store for the first time. I've been to other competitors but there was always something missing, it was the true, old fashion personalized customer service. As I was shopping and enjoying the environment, it felt as if I was in the country shopping at a local hardware store. I had someone helping me from the moment I walked in, throughout the time I was in the store and even outside in the parking lot as a young gentleman offered to take my cart and wished me a good weekend. I will definitely be returning for all my future projects. A store can have tons of products but if there's a lack of good customer service or not enough customer service. So, Ace Hardware buys out the long term local hardware store. We had knowledgeable assistants and product lines that cater to Fallbrook. Especially the nursery and orchards. Now we have a big box store. Never anyone around to answer questions, and if there is someone they seem lost and unhelpful. As the owner of a nursery, Ace has the worst supplied irrigation department I've ever seen. At checkout, a lady says she orders for the irrigation department and if they don't have something, to leave her a note! OMG, I wouldn't even know where to start. Then she rings up six 1/2 inch irrigation pipes for $7 each! They're $2!!! Ace is stealing our money. Left them on the counter and walked away. Watch your receipts and compare prices. Since the store has become an Ace Hardware, they have gotten rid of many of the items that made it a good, cool hardware store. It seems Ace has reduced the SKU count significantly Oddball items and specialty screws and craftsman materials just did not make the volume sales cut list I guess. Extremely rude store associate older gentleman. He was extremely bothered by my three children genuinely being children. They are very well behaved. If you work in retail you should be ok and patient with children. He even went as far as questioning my parenting to me and was all around completely inappropriate to me. we come here often to purchase last minute things like pool supplies or whatever we need quickly without having to drive to Home Depot. I've gone about what now 4-5 times ? I got a key here and then I see that the buttons don't work. I go to ace hardware to fix it. The guy asks me "did you get it here?" I respond "yes"...I left the guy to fix I come back 20-30 minutes later and he had lost a piece to my key. He decides to order me a new one (100$+ value). He gives me the broken key; orders me a new one. 2-3 weeks later they call me to tell me the key is ready. I go, the ask me once again "did you get the key here or somewhere else" I tell them "here" because it clearly states that on the paperwork. So then the guy tells me he can't cut the key because XYZ... Right so I'm like okay? What now? ... he decides to cut it then go program it. We go to my car to program the key. Keep in mind I got there at 2:10PM he didn't even finish until 3:30PM. He programs the key then he tells me that he needs to programs the buttons separately. I say "that's ok I'll come back another day" I come back 2-3 days later and the guy tells me that he's gonna check it out. He checks my keys out to see what's going on. Turns out they ordered the wrong key ! So now they have to order me A NEW KEY... so at this Point... I was very frustrated with this whole situation. I decided fine get a NEW 2ND KEY and let's get this over with. I go back AGAIN!!! and then I wait from 3:30PM-4:50PM to get the key programed and no luck. All this non sense that they have to call Duracell and they have called already 7-10 times and no answer .... etc etc. And now I have to go back AGAIN Another day. At this point I'm done. if they can't fix my key correctly I will be speaking to the manager, getting a refund and going somewhere else because this is ridiculous. Never going here again. read more

This store pretty much has every necessity you could think of all crammed into a small space. It's like the coach section on an airplane. So my experience at the store left me with mixed emotions. I was looking for a toilet flange in an aisle. There was 2 employees helping out another customer that were standing in front of the section I was looking at. When they finished with that customer, they walked away and continued their other work. Now, I had been looking in that section for at least 45seconds prior to them being done with that customer. Also, how many employees does it take to help a customer. My point is that maybe because of my ethnicity, nobody bothered / offered to help me. I had to ask for help. I was raised in the military so I've never experienced any kind of racial discrimination. When I got back to my friends place, I told them what happened. They have lived in fallbrook their whole lives, moved away for college, and then moved back. They pretty much confirmed my suspicions.
