Restocking Fee Scam to make money off you. Do not buy any electronics that may not work or defective because if you try to use it and doesn't work and like to return it, you're screwed out of 20% of what you paid. Bought a Viking car battery jump starter for $151 to avoid using my AAA credits. Just this weekend I drained my battery and tried to use it at 95,% and the piece of crap didn't work. Checkec all cables connections 10 times and still nothing. I called them letting them know how pissed I was and was coming in to return this piece of shit. It ruined day, having to waste another of my AAA emergency credits and wait for them. Called on Weds., night looking for a e-bike ramp. We spoke to Robert. We caught them just as they were closing so we were in a rush. Robert the Manager greeted us with info on the particular ramp but gave us specs on another one that caught our eye, while we were debating. We chose a very nice 2 panel solid aluminum ramp. I am a long time HF customer. I've bought from many locations and I've had great service. BUT, the Oceanside store has bad management and has displayed HORRIBLE customer service through their manager, KEVIN. I bought a trailer tire there for my hot dog cart. After changing out a flat tire, we went to a job and the tire ballooned out the sidewall proving it defective. I bought the tire mid January, installed at the beginning of February and rolled it only once in application. The tire was certainly defective. The sales receipt said returns up to 90 days. So I went to the same store and tried to return the tire. The cashier said he couldn't do it because it was used. So I asked for the manager. The manager would not come forward because he was on a "break". So I said I would wait. After about a half hour he finally came out from the back, inspected the tire and said he would not accept the return. After my best compelling argument and his continued refusal, I got the corporate customer service number and stood by the register calling the corporation's receptionist. The agent, was very helpful and concerned. In noting my account was longstanding and loyal, she explained that local stores have the option to deny returns but saw the necessity to handle this problem, so she issued me a gift card to purchase another tire and keep the old one. She apologized for the behavior of the store's manager and was concerned that it didn't tarnish the stores brand. I was very satisfied with the customer service on the phone but remained dissatisfied with the bad behavior and lack of good customer service from KEVIN the store manager. I will NEVER shop in the Oceanside store again as the Vista store has better management and more friendly cashiers. It's not the store but the management. I would not have Kevin be responsible to lead my team with his lack of customer service and dedication. Because of KEVIN, the Oceanside store lost a good customer, but Harbor Freight did not. read more

I went in to grab a few things , and when I entered I saw a lady helping an older man returning something . I spent 5 minutes grabbing the things I need because I was in a hurry to get back to the shop and finish the work that needs to be delivered in an hour . Note my time was very important at the moment .. there was 2 registers .. I approach the lane with the old man (note she was still helping him ) so I figured she was finishing up and I waited 3 minutes , then I saw the other lane wasn't busy so I walk over and she says "don't worry stay over there , she'll help you and I'll help the older man" so I said cool I went back to the first lane . Zach the manager is knowledgeable, professional and extremely helpful. If they have it in the store, the staff will know where it is! Every month or two they have a parking lot sale - and they sell stuff at close out pricing. It's a great time to pick up some manager special tools, dollies, patio string lights and even free gifts. If you're a track club member you usually can get some freebies with each flyer they send out. Oh yeah, the prices. Went in Harbor Freight Oceanside and purchased a few items for about $30.00 and cashier said my card was declined and asked me to put it in again and then was told again card was declined and was asked again to put in a 3rd time. In the meantime I am getting text's that the charges have gone through a total of 3 times. What Harbor Freight did was charge my card a total of 3 times and when management was involved I was told they cannot do anything about the 3 charges and I would have to call my credit card company to dispute. They caused my problem by charging 3 times and then basically telling me to go and deal with the problems Harbor Freight caused. First you don't come here expecting the best made tools, they are cheap for a reason. I purchased tools for my son to have a base set when he moved out. Also purchased a tralier, no joke you put it together like an erector set! I was skeptical, turned out to be perfect for our need, loaded it up and my son took all his furniture to his new home in Santa Cruz for school. I thought this was crazy at first, turned out to be just what he needed, 6 hrs later it was together and ready to roll. Pros: Lots of options, cheapest prices you'll find for tools. These are good for homeowners, not so sure about someone in a trade although my father in-law is a floor installer and shops here. SERVICE, I'm not saying they have a ton of people, but the ones they do are really friendly, upbeat and helpful. Really surprised me. Cons: Just think about what you're buying. It's all very affordable, so I wouldn't buy items with an engine. Had a friend buy a generator, under $100 but never really delivered and was hard to keep running. Our kids have three pet rabbits. All three bunnies found a way out of our backyard by digging under our fence. We were able to safely catch all three by borrowing a live animal trap from our local pound and by picking up another two traps from Harbor Freight. This place has everything. All sorts of tools and hardware but also live animal traps. Our traps were reasonably priced (about $25 each). They offer plenty of free parking and are great about returns. Just be surt to hold onto your receipt. EXTRA TIP: They offer 20% off coupons all the time in your local mail and in those free advertising circulars. You can also find these coupons online. I used to shop at their outlet store in Camarillo back in the 1980's when they were called Harbor Freight Salvage. In those days the predominately Chinese tools were dirt cheap but pretty low quality. I do still have a bench sander, a trailer and a table saw I bought from there and they still work great. The cement mixer lasted only a couple of years out in all weathers but it save me a ton of money on rentals. Well these days Chinese tools by and large are of much higher quality, for example the materials they use aren't compressed yak dung anymore (joke!) The prices are still cheap however, in fact some of the lowest prices on tools you can find anywhere. I just bought an 800w gasoline generator for $85 (w/coupon) that sells for at least $140 everywhere else. It doesn't compare with my $1K Honda EU2000, but then again if it falls off my boat I won't care. If it breaks, just buy another one. I recommend a visit to Harbor Freight tools. As well as a great selection of tools they have cool necessities like tarps, plumbing parts and various other items one needs for modern survival. read more

However the Harbor Freight located in Oceanside has one particular assistant manager, named, Lexi who is NOT friendly and has treated me terribly on many occasions that I have decided to NEVER shop at that Oceanside store again. This place double charged my credit card when I bought a dolly and some bungee cables at the cash register. When the cashier rang me up it I had to swipe twice so could be her fault or a computer error. I had to resolve with my bank. Took ten days to get my money back. it was only 35$ x 2 but still my money and I was pissed the manager of the store was no help. Will not shop here again. When I spoke to the manager he said he only found one charge for 35$ however if the cashier lady was dirty she maybe did it on purpose and kept the money. Theoretically. I'm just advising the general public on my situation. When I buy 35$ worth of stuff and it charges me twice well that means I payed 75$. Not like I'm rich or a baller and of course my bank was overdrawn because of this transaction, I mean I live paycheck to paycheck so this is not cool of companies to control our lives lol. Don't forget that even though you have a receipt from the previous day that has your last 4 numbers of a credit card # and a sales number of the product that should match up and you speak to a manager about returning the product. The cashier still thinks your stealing from the store when you ask too exchange a product for money because you bought the wrong product.(My bad didn't know that the air compressor only plugged into a cars cigarette lighter) and she didn't see you carrying it in. The manager of this store was extremely helpful. I was traveling from Phoenix and had a situation with a bike lock and cable that got jammed and I couldn't open it. I think the manager was Sean told me that the lock cutters that I picked out could cut through the cable. He was correct. One of the employees there looked like he didn't want to help he was just on his phone after I asked him for a price uncluding the discound he looked around holding his phone on the other hand like if he was looking for a calculator or something to tell him the price and said I can't think of the price of the top of my head I'm not good at math sorry so I said that's fine ill just ask my husband he's pretty good at it. So he said ok and went back to texting. But really the price was right next to him he could've just scanned and added the discount I'm sure they have a void button.
