    Dog friendly. Day of departure.

This place has changed owners since we last stayed. Lots of upgrades for sure. Still awesome though. Robert at the front desk was awesome and super friendly. Place is clean, but it is camping so to speak so I'm not expecting the place to be spotless however it was pretty close. We kicked out keys under the couch and we were like oh boy, what will we see there. To our surprise, it was clean. hahahahaha. We had the microwave and their space heater running and it triggered to power to go out. we were able to figure it out. The chalet's heater is a bit loud so we used their space heater which was super powerful. We will be back.

We got married here and it was a beautiful venue. I would absolutely recommend to get married here. It is the woods so be prepared for bugs we also had some bugs crawl into our cabin. The refrigerators do not work well and ice chests may be needed.

With all of the restrictions and travel precautions taken place this year, I was in need of a place to relax and refresh. I came across Pinecrest Chalet that has individual cabins, chalets and townhomes. An added bonus was that it was pet friendly. I decided to book a chalet for our family and our family dog. Nestled amongst lovely large trees with the sound of a creek running nearby. This was a nice quiet place to reboot. We went in the winter time, it was chilly but no snowfall yet. The cabin was kept warm by a lovely fireplace that was controlled by a thermostat. We had a small full kitchen. This location is perfect for skiing or boarding at nearby DodgeRidge Ski resort which is about 2-3miles up the hill. We can't wait to return when there is more snow fall or even in the Summer to enjoy the nearby Pinecrest Lake.

I did not stay here but am reviewing based on the hospitality of the staff. Being up this way (In the mountains) cuts you off from the cellular grid depending on your carrier. My group and I starved for some wifi were allowed to used it even though we weren't truly guests there. This is much appreciated Also to my surprise they have a washer and dryer here. Being a bit unprepared for the trip in the clothing department I was able to use the laundry room here which again was a big help making it through my week here as hiking and traversing through the woods dirtied up my clothes pretty good. From the looks of the grounds though, it is well taken care of and there is a pool for those who don't feel like going down the hill to Pinecrest Lake. Unlike the camp I stayed at, Pinecrest Chalet seems a bit more on the "high end" side of camping so if you're into more amenities, this looks like the place to be.

Pinecrest Chalet is a beautiful lodge with cabins surrounded by the great outdoors. There's a flowing river in the back and the smell of pine trees everywhere. There are various sized cabins to accommodate couples, families and even larger houses for big groups. It's under new management as of the beginning of December 2019. Our room had a queen+futon to sleep 4 comfortably. There was a microwave, hot shower, water boiler and plates and utensils. Very convenient and we cooked up some simple dishes and ramen. Fyi, there is no food or supplies within Pinecrest Chalet, so prepare your food ahead of time or drive to Strawberry town for hot food. The lobby had a collection of DVDs we could bring back to our cabin to watch. Also, there were free refreshments, tea and some muffins. Pinecrest Chalet is 6 minutes from Dodge Ridge Ski Resort, so it's convenient to shred all day and by end of the day, you can relax in the privacy of your cabin. Also, for families with younger kids, you can sled right behind the playground area. There's a sweet hill to send it!

First visit during summer 2021 for a weekend getaway with my two daughters. The cabin for three was just the right size to shower, sleep, and just hang out. Golden hour hikes around the property were relaxing after a meal. Pinecrest Lake is just a 5 minute drive away. Cabin included table for dining, bathroom with shower, TV, bunk bed for 3 (full bottom/twin top), and coffee with coffee maker. Towels, pillows, and bed linens included also. We will definitely be returning for another weekend getaway.

The venue is stunning and it hardly needs any decorations to feel complete. The gorgeous brick wall and string lighting steal the show. It's a perfect open floor plan with space for over 200 guests. The kitchen is tucked away in the corner providing an industrial sink, microwave, ice maker, and fridge/freezer, making it easy to store and prepare food for your event. The bar also includes a beverage cooler, bar sink for washing glasses, and plenty of shelves for storing alcohol. The venue is always cleaned, bathrooms always fully stocked, and tables and chairs provided by Cynthia making the planning process such a breeze. Cynthia is a dream to work with. She is super communicative with times available for picking up and dropping off keys. She provided us with a detailed walk through of the venue before our event, letting us know how to turn on lights and ac/heater unit. She let us know where to find everything we would need. She was so generous with time to set up and break down for our event both times that we've rented with her and we couldn't be more appreciative and happy with our experience each time. I'll always recommend this venue to anyone looking.

It took almost ONE HOUR from leaving Highway 88 in order, arriving at The Hideout Annex where I attended the wedding venue! Will you please carefully study my photos and will you please notice the GARMIN GPS time stamp for the photos, too? This is no exaggeration . . . Seriously--The Hideout is in the middle of CA BLM TERRITORY, i.e., WILDERNESS REGION! My photos will make you pause in utter silence due to the fact the entire area is just so utterly remote. More importantly, make sure you do NOT drive a vehicle with a low, wheel base clearance such as a sports car or a sedan; for your safety, drive an all-wheel drive SUV, dually truck, i.e. any 4-Wheel Drive vehicle is best. In addition, this entire region's location is extreme wilderness equating, survival terrain. Never come here ill-prepared despite, weddings venues are conducted here, i.e., cold temperatures shifts drop erratically here--hot around 75° F during the day, temperatures drop to 49°F around 6:30 PM--please bring a down jacket, warm pants, socks, boots, hat, gloves, down sleeping bag/blankets, pillow, medicines, a change of clothes, toiletries, fire starters, wood, food, H2O: Everything you'd think bringing on a wilderness camping trip-PACK INSIDE YOUR VEHICLE especially, if you get too inebriated to drive, you might as well sleep off your alcohol party binge without freezing, eh? Plus, whatever supplies you bring in, you must consciously pack out - - - being mindful "wild things" live everywhere around The Hideout . . . So NEVER keep food or toiletries inside your vehicle--because you're just asking for a "wild thing" to cause dangerous drama in your life when you're WAAAAY too inebriated dealing with the dangerous toothy thang, i.e., you just won't survive THAT attack! A lot of parents I noticed were irresponsibly allowing their children running loose, frolicking through the fields/meadows unattended, and unsupervised while attending the wedding at The Hideout: It's most important not allowing children running freely, parents must maintain possessing absolutely heightened, cognitive awareness of sights and sounds 24/7, follow rules such as putting food in bear containers, keeping bear spray in possession 24/7, making sure children don't drop food anywhere, keeping children sticking by their sides without fail, and never allow children run freely through the meadows where rattlesnakes and large animals are simply camouflaged, unnoticeable, and undetected. Sadly, the four restrooms are too far away from The Hideout Annex which is across a huge field causing the children striking out on their own accord--independently scurrying reaching the restrooms in time without having "an accident" where unfortunately, their parents lose their watchful eyes on their children! Therefore, I don't recommend children under ten-years old should attend wedding venues at The Hideout because The Hideout's wedding location is just too remote . . . The Hideout is a gorgeous, wedding venue; however, I just wouldn't recommend young children accompany their parents here. There are too many possibilities for young children being injured or wind up missing due to the area being too vast and too remote; I personally just want immediately removing the odd equation and eliminating the happenstance beforehand-period. I would only consider The Hideout as an adult wedding venue worth attending; however, I definitely would refrain having the children in tow, i.e., hire an overnight babysitter/Nanny for attending a wedding at The Hideout.
