Happy to report this place has done a complete 180. Thanks to Robert the new camp manager he has returned the Chalet back to its original charm that it once had. No more dirt cabins, it now comes equipped with WiFi, and a smart tv with Roku. There are snacks and smores in the lobby for a small fee. Robert was kind enough to bring us the fire wood. We will sure return based on the changes made here. read more

I visited for the first time with my friend and our son's.. we stood in the 2 queen chalet #J and were very happy! The space was plenty, fireplace was cozy and the kitchen was convenient! The snow all over was breathtaking. Views were gorgeous and our boys had so much fun sledding down a hill we found right outside our cabin. The man who checked us in was very nice and welcoming too. For the reasonable price and all we experienced... we will absolutely be back. *the only small downside is that the cabin could have been cleaner. There was lots of dust on the curtains and dirt stains on the kitchen floor, small areas that needed attention... however, again, with the great price offered, it wasn't bad!* read more

This place has changed owners since we last stayed. Lots of upgrades for sure. Still awesome though. Robert at the front desk was awesome and super friendly. Place is clean, but it is camping so to speak so I'm not expecting the place to be spotless however it was pretty close. We kicked out keys under the couch and we were like oh boy, what will we see there. To our surprise, it was clean. hahahahaha. We had the microwave and their space heater running and it triggered to power to go out. we were able to figure it out. I stayed in Townhouse H, a small studio (attached to other units) with three beds in a room next to a kitchen with a bathroom on the side. The man at the front desk was very helpful and friendly, as was the person who helped me book my stay by phone. We got COVID during our initial reservation and I was so grateful they allowed us to reschedule without charging extra. The cost was just over $300/night, including taxes and fees (rate $279) and the unit size was about like a hotel room that has two beds. Issues we encountered included: No top sheet on the bed, just a comforter right on top of the fitted sheet (which was put on wrong so the corners were on the side of the bed? How does one even do that?). 2 small spoons in a cabin that sleeps 4 Bathroom sink drain is clogged and draining very slowly Shower valves leaking Caulking in shower deteriorated and mildewed at the base Kitchen sink disposal broken Coffee spilled on floor by garbage can not cleaned before our arrival Stove top cookware (pans) in poor condition No cookware available for oven (we could have used a cookie sheet or cake pan if there was one) Ice tray is broken I didn't think to ask, but this unit does not have A/C. It was hot in the room, so this was a disappointment. It would be so easy to install a mini split. The neighbors were smoking cannabis and tobacco outside our unit and that smell came into our room because the windows were open because we were trying to cool it off in the evening. I guess they allow smoking because I did not see any signs to the contrary. The exhaust fan in the bathroom is so loud and rumbly that it vibrates the painting above the bed, which makes a surprisingly loud noise in the bedroom. The mattress on the queen bed is not in poor condition, but is very firm and was not comfortable to me. Swimming pool is frigid, which could be great on a very hot day, depending on your preference. Maintenance person (who was not doing any work) was overly friendly to the point it made us uncomfortable. I think he was trying to show us the amenities, but I felt like he was following us around and the vibe was slightly off. My wife was happy with the lodging; for the price I was moderately disappointed. But three stars is accurate, lovely place in the woods, lodging halfway crummy. read more

This location is great for pinecrest lake, it's about a 5-10 min drive. I went this summer 2025. I've been to camps like this before. This place is dirty and run down. I don't expect perfection in a campsite area however perfection pricing should atleast have clean cabins and updated common areas. The cabin is filthy, the bathroom had someone else's garbage in it when I arrived, there hadnt been any vacuuming, sweeping, or moping in a while. The blanket on one bed had what looked like a blood stain. It seems like they go in and refill towels, paper towels and garbage bags and that's it. There is no cleaning supplies in cabin so you can't even clean on your own, not even a broom. Two other families complained of the same unkept cabins. One had to leave to a hotel because of rat droppings and a mattress with a blood stain, I kid you not about this. The kid area is unloved and sad for the kids. The pictures on this site are obviously old. After seeing the cabins, and poorly kept kids area I didn't even try the pool for fear of the last time it may have been cleaned. I definitely think you can get something better for this price. I heard at the lake that pinecrest resort is better, will try there next time. If you want to enjoy this place, you need to make sure that you bring your own cleaning supplies, so that you can do a full cleanup of the cabin before bringing your family into it if that's what your idea of a vacation is then this is the place. When you leave, you have to wash the dishes put them away wash the coffee maker throw out all the garbage is and that's when I realized that what I was doing was the only thing that was done before I got there.. move on from here until they put some love into it. read more

This was such an adorable cabin. It was stocked well with towels, toilet paper and paper towels. Had hot water and good water pressure. Cure coffee pot, fridge, stove and oven. If you want more than one knife and cutting board you'll need to bring that. Such a cute little spot, right next to dodge ridge. We got to make a little campfire and enjoy roasting hotdogs and marshmallows. Cabin was spotless, no bugs, WiFi was easy to get onto. The front office was closed the whole time we were there but they left our check in information in an envelope, and we had no trouble at all. Great trip overall. read more

Just returned from a weekend stay for a wedding at pinecrest chalet! Booking was easy--I had a little hiccup just before we arrived at was calling & calling without a reply...turns out--that phone is off site. Once we got there we had an amazing stay. Robert was there to check us in and gave us all the details on our stay. We couldn't get heat to work in our room--I let Robert know and Juan was right out to fix it. On our second day before the wedding started both Robert and Juan were out on golf carts picking up wedding guests and giving them a ride down to the wedding site. On our final day as I was checking out early, walking down to the lobby to return my key--fully expecting it to be closed as I was very early, NOPE! There was Robert to check me out and ask about my stay. The service really made the trip for us--they were wonderful. With all of the restrictions and travel precautions taken place this year, I was in need of a place to relax and refresh. I came across Pinecrest Chalet that has individual cabins, chalets and townhomes. An added bonus was that it was pet friendly. I decided to book a chalet for our family and our family dog. Nestled amongst lovely large trees with the sound of a creek running nearby. This was a nice quiet place to reboot. We went in the winter time, it was chilly but no snowfall yet. The cabin was kept warm by a lovely fireplace that was controlled by a thermostat. We had a small full kitchen. This location is perfect for skiing or boarding at nearby DodgeRidge Ski resort which is about 2-3miles up the hill. We can't wait to return when there is more snow fall or even in the Summer to enjoy the nearby Pinecrest Lake. read more

I did not stay here but am reviewing based on the hospitality of the staff. Being up this way (In the mountains) cuts you off from the cellular grid depending on your carrier. My group and I starved for some wifi were allowed to used it even though we weren't truly guests there. This is much appreciated Also to my surprise they have a washer and dryer here. Being a bit unprepared for the trip in the clothing department I was able to use the laundry room here which again was a big help making it through my week here as hiking and traversing through the woods dirtied up my clothes pretty good. From the looks of the grounds though, it is well taken care of and there is a pool for those who don't feel like going down the hill to Pinecrest Lake. Unlike the camp I stayed at, Pinecrest Chalet seems a bit more on the "high end" side of camping so if you're into more amenities, this looks like the place to be. read more

I really enjoyed Pinecrest Chalet for my wedding venue. It was absolutely gorgeous with the trees, and creek that flows close by. I loved having everyone stay the weekend on site. My guests enjoyed roasting s'mores in the fire pits and dancing under the trees. The only thing I was disappointed about is the amount of help from the venue itself. My mom is disabled, and I had a few elderly guests who could not walk up the steep hill to get to their cabins or the port-a-potty. They said there would be staff with golf carts to shuttle guests, but there wasn't. Nobody was there for us to ask for help and their wasn't any service for our cellphones. My dad ended up shutting the guests in his car when they needed help, but it was very inconvenient. I would say if you book this venue don't expect much help from the staff. They did help set up the tables and chairs. But that is about it. It is a beautiful location though, I hope in the future they can step up their service. read more

After years camping we tried this place nine years back. We started in the camper parking and never looked back. This place is just plain awesome.. After a few years we decided to stay in the cabins and again never looked back. They people working here are always ready to help. Sometimes it is hard to get in touch with someone via phone but when here you can just knock on the door were the workers stay. Last week I arrived at around five and could not find mat key. Pinecrest Chalet is a beautiful lodge with cabins surrounded by the great outdoors. There's a flowing river in the back and the smell of pine trees everywhere. There are various sized cabins to accommodate couples, families and even larger houses for big groups. It's under new management as of the beginning of December 2019. Our room had a queen+futon to sleep 4 comfortably. There was a microwave, hot shower, water boiler and plates and utensils. Very convenient and we cooked up some simple dishes and ramen. Fyi, there is no food or supplies within Pinecrest Chalet, so prepare your food ahead of time or drive to Strawberry town for hot food. The lobby had a collection of DVDs we could bring back to our cabin to watch. Also, there were free refreshments, tea and some muffins. Pinecrest Chalet is 6 minutes from Dodge Ridge Ski Resort, so it's convenient to shred all day and by end of the day, you can relax in the privacy of your cabin. Also, for families with younger kids, you can sled right behind the playground area. There's a sweet hill to send it! read more

First visit during summer 2021 for a weekend getaway with my two daughters. The cabin for three was just the right size to shower, sleep, and just hang out. Golden hour hikes around the property were relaxing after a meal. Pinecrest Lake is just a 5 minute drive away. Cabin included table for dining, bathroom with shower, TV, bunk bed for 3 (full bottom/twin top), and coffee with coffee maker. Towels, pillows, and bed linens included also. We had a great time staying in one of the cottages this winter, just recently for only one night in early April. The hosts worked hard to get the cottage ready for our early arrival. We stayed here when we got married and it was awesome! Very cute and cozy, stayed plenty warm, the shower water stayed hot for two showers back-to-back, and the beds were super comfortable! The Wifi is not the greatest though, so make sure to be prepared for that. But that is kind of the point of being in the woods. I would also recommend bringing some dvds if you want something to watch on your down time because there aren't many tv channels. The townhome (unit B) we rented was spacious, furnished well and had room for 14 to sleep. We only had nine people with us so we had a ton of room for everyone. All the bedrooms are downstairs, there are three bedrooms with queen size beds and one bedroom with two sets of bunkbeds. The kids really liked being in the same room with these bunkbeds. There are also two bathrooms downstairs. Upstairs: no bathroom, livingroom has two futon sofas that sleeps two people each, tv, DVD player, a kitchen & dining area. The upper floor of this unit has a deck that wraps around the side AND the back of the building. It has three very large picnic tables, plenty of room for everyone to sit and eat outside. There's also a barbecue on the deck. There was plenty of room for us to keep extra ice chests and our kayaks on the deck. They need to improve on their kitchen tools/supplies, there were only two spoons, for forks and for knives. We had to keep going to the lobby/office to get more silverware, toilet paper, paper towels. I felt like that was pretty bad that this place sleeps 14 and there was literally two spoons. Really?! Stock the place when you know 9 people are about to spend 4 nights there. I'd come back here but I'll chat with them first to make sure I don't have to keep going back and fourth to get the stuff that should always be there for guests. read more

Just got back and we had a great time. We stayed in Osprey and it was great. Very clean. The folks in the office are also nice and helpful. It is generally very relaxing and quiet there. A couple things to point out: - when the heat kicks in and goes off it does make a bit noise that may scare/annoy little kids at night. It's not very loud but it is a rumble so the kids were trying to figure out what it was. - TV channel selection is very light. They have a DVD player so bring some or you can borrow some from the office. - No AT&T cell service. Heard Verizon works. - Wifi is slow. They tell you so. It is basically fast enough to send a text message and nothing more. It was like 0.1 Mbps when I tested it. - Pool was by reservation only. We checked it out and it was cold so we passed. Overall, kids can't wait to go back again. read more

Great location near the lake. Loved the quiet location. Cabins were well maintained, nice beds and furnishings. Plumbing was good and worked well. Enjoyed the bbq and fire pit, porch on the cabin (Eagle #6) had a nice view of the creek. Wifi is advertised but only available near the office, so keep that in mind. We had to depart early due to the increased fire danger, hope we can return soon. read more

We family of 4 with 3 dogs stayed at 2 bedroom townhouse ground floor unit G. It was good size room for us. We enjoyed our time here. Check in was easy. I like there were DVD for us to borrow at lobby. We watched some old school movie with our kids. Kitchen had most everything we need. The bed were comfy and hot water was running ok! We hang out at backyard hill with kids and dogs a lot. There was plenty snow for us to play and dogs wondering around. We bought some board game to here play and also went to ski at ski resort. It was about less than 10 minutes drive. We went for hike at Pinecrest Lake on new year day. We walked in the lake. That was pretty awesome! Updating to respond to your message. Bianca did NOT notify me refunds were not possible. That is simply not true. She wrote down the complaint and said she would pass it on and we would probably get "something taken off the room." She offered to send someone to look at the shower and I said YES PLEASE DO! Obviously you did not listen nearly as well as you say you did. The employee from the laundry room dId not speak english and so didn't communicate anything to me except what I already knew, no one was there. If your employee was grabbing supplies she should have left a note to indicate so and that she would be back. Instead there was nothing and no communication. It is laughable for you to say you listened based on all of this. You don't answer your phone or respond to email. I still don't have an invoice despite requesting one several times by email. The only way I got any response at all was to write my experience here! That's listening? You have a funny definition of the word. To summarize: You guys gave me a dirty room, half-asses cleaned it leaving disgusting half eaten food in the microwave we had to clean up. Your shower sucked and you ignored my request to send someone to look at it. Your employee indicated- on her own - that a partial refund was possible, which you now claim they are not. You don't respond to phone calls or emails, only negative Yelp reviews, and even then you do so to imply your customers are liars. Great job listening and addressing customer concerns! You don't even take responsibility for this, blaming me. I will look into taking this to the BBB. In the meantime, yes you offered me a late checkout. Fab! A chance to stay longer at a disgusting hotel with a garbage shower! How could I turn that down? read more

Take my advice - this place is sketchy. Maybe not under previous owners but beware of the current owner. On site managment is absent and/or unresponsive - just read the recent reviews below. I'm raising a Huge Red Flag here on wedding reservations. We visited in early April 2021 and were given a wedding date in June 2022. All good, seems like a great place for a wedding. Since then we have been unable to get a hold of any responsible person to discuss contract terms and deposit. Phones have been "out" for weeks and, when we do get through we're given a different story every time and even been hung up on a few times. Feel free to post back if you've had a better experience. Update -When we visited we were handed a contract which we reviewed. We had a few questions regarding current owner (as we were told property had changed hands recently and contract would be updated). We also had questions about a pandemic cancellation clause which we were told was being added to the soon to be updated contract. We were told property was blocked out on our wedding weekend while the contract was being updated. We never received an updated contract and front office went silent for 5 weeks. Update - Just found out they un-booked our wedding after not answering the phone for 5 weeks - lol. Thank God we didn't put the deposit down. Fair warning to anyone who books an event here and puts down any money. This place is as sketchy as they get. I guarantee you are going to be reading about this place in the news and its not going to be good. Update - In reply to "Business Owner" who apparently is not the buiness owner. (Business owner's cell phone is disconnected and phone is also not answered at her other business) Pretty much everything you just wrote is a lie. We stayed in an RV site in July, mainly because it had an electrical hook up and none of the other campgrounds nearby did. We were pleasantly surprised to find a water hook up as well (fill only, no sewer) The facility is great and a very short drive to the lake (not walkable given busy road). There's a pool, basketball hoop, and swing set for use. And we loved that there was a wedding one night and we got to enjoy the music from our fire pit at our site. Each site is fairly easy to get into (all back in only) and has a picnic table and fire pit. The price per night is pretty steep considering it isn't full hook ups and there's no bathroom or shower facilities available. read more

This is our 3rd time staying at Pinecrest Chalet. We've stayed in a small chalet, a townhome, and now the largest townhome "B". We just love this facility! The units are clean, several recently updated, decently stocked kitchens. We BBQ'd, went swimming, kids enjoyed the playground, basketball court, and s'mores at night by the large fire pits. Scenery is beautiful, right on the river. Staff is helpful and nice. If you haven't stayed here, must try it! read more

Stayed here in the past. I think they have different owners now. Very disappointed with our stay. The housekeeping staff seem "sketchy." One of their staff was driving around in a golf cart blaring his music. He was also smoking even though there is EXTREME fire danger in the area (no campfires, propane stoves, smoking, etc.!!!!) Don't rent L the walls are really thin and you hear the people upstairs stomping around. The don't have tables off what is supposed to be the patio but it's just dirt. It doesn't have a regular heater. The bathroom was filthy. The toilet was clogged and you could see bugs and spiders webs with mold in the shower. One bed was broken. The living room had really old filthy futons. We flipped it over and it was just as dirty. The dishes in the kitchen dirty. The cabinets were covered in grease. They advertised it as a townhouse but really it's a condo. They didn't offer coffee pots. This unit needs a lot of work before they charge people over $200 a night. Horrible townhouse and service. I'm from the East Coast and was visiting family on the West Coast. They rave about this place and although Pinecrest is absolutely beautiful.. rent a cabin from one of the other loops! Had townhouse F and it was a nightmare start to finish. During check-in they claimed it was taking longer due to having to deeper clean for COVID.. haha.. what a joke. The place was dirty. Even the dishes (fully furnished) were absolutely repulsive. No front curtains so everyone could see in. Shut the WiFi off two hours prior to check out time. And realized there was 6 other townhouses available that we could've been moved to. What a nightmare. Came up again for some relaxing time in the area. We tend to come at least once a year, sometimes twice. Cabin N is great for a crowd, when our group is bigger we get a few more cabins and use N as the base and for community meals. The cabins are clean and generally well taken care of. This is also a great place to get away from the hustle of the outside world since their wifi system is not well designed and can't handle a full load of guests. We were there for 3 days and never got an IP address from the wifi. I didn't mind since work could not bug me until I got home. The pool is a great place to cool off on a wicked hot day. It has lots of toys to play with too. We will be back again for sure. read more
