I brought my diesel truck in for repair they told me it was $180 for a diagnostic fee when I went to pick up my truck they had tagged on another $500 charge. Apparently this is for work that I did not authorize nor knew about. Now they're trying to hold my vehicle when I have another service Garage that will fix it for cheaper. Do not spend your money or waste your time at this shop. My 1995 Chevy Silverado 6.5 turbo diesel was having overheating issues and going through coolant. My father and I suspected this was a blown head gasket. It was brought to the shop to get multiple upgrades. (To fix the overheating issue.) I spent about $6500 in parts and was charged about $5000 in labor. I supplied a brand new head gasket. The head was supplied because we were told the shop was unable to provide a head gasket within 3 weeks. This is the timeframe my truck had the possibility of being fixed in. I even came in twice and cleaned up parts on my own time to try and help speed up the process. My truck sat in this shop over 6 months from the end of May 2021 till the end of October 2021. During this time there was very little feedback given. We had to send multiple texts and call numerous times to get any response. I got the truck back in August for only 2 weeks and noticed nothing had changed. Still going through coolant, twice as fast. Coolant was now getting into the oil. Definitely had a blown head gasket now. Brought it back immediately and the truck sat there from August to end of October with no work being done to it. It wasn't until then we were told Pinellas Diesel wanted to charge us all over again. To do the head job they were suppose to assess the first time. They didn't even want to discuss a discounted rate to pull the truck apart a second time. Blamed all of these issues on the head gasket we supplied. Once we got the truck home it now has shifting issues. Never had that problem in the 7 years I have owned the truck. In conclusion I wasted over 10 grand and half a year of time to this incapable, unorganized, careless shop. I was recommended this shop by Super Power Diesel on 118th Ave and have friends that work there. I was told Pinellas Diesel specialized in older diesels. I wouldn't pass that recommendation on. read more

Definitely going to return for service needs. I had them do two jobs for me, one was to replace the injectors with higher performance models, and then a partial rebuild of an engine. They were very reasonable on both jobs, and were lower in price than all the quotes I received from less-experienced providers. They saved me some money. They were honest and kept me updated about the progress they made and the things that they found, and gave me all options along the way as well. I have an expensive $100k+ vehicle, and they treated it properly and even assembled delicate parts in the interior correctly. Not associated with them, just a satisfied customer. read more

Do not take your diesel truck here. They kept my truck 7 weeks before it was finally fixed. Then it still wasn't right months later and we took it back again. They said it was a cracked piston and wanted to charge $5700.00 to fix it. They had it 2 weeks this time. Since we had already put $4600.00 into this year which included work done by Pinellas Diesel and another mechanic, we opted not to get it done..because we are trading it in now. It's only worth $14,000.00. I'm not going to spend another $5700.00 and still not have it work right with Pinellas. read more

My company used these guy's, and it might be the worst experience I've ever heard. So far they have had our truck over a year and still don't know what wrong with it, and on top of that we have called them almost every day for a month and they can't give us an answer on what our current bill is or what it will cost to actually do the job we asked them to do!!! I previously had good services with them but since they moved to new shop, I dropped my truck off the 7/5 16 called several times got the run around from both the owner and service boy I called them 9/29/16 They said we have not touched it I went out and demanded my truck ,A 1999 Dodge Dually with a custom Paint job that cost me 6000.00 They let it sit in the sun every time they worked on it for months at a time Damaged the front end driving it back and forth for lunch , Taking it to the body shop in the morning so I know what to sue for . As a retired Master mechanic and totally disabled veteran, I was Amazed at how they bullshitted me and I fell for it , they just lie and lie they can't be trusted read more

Excellent experience with Pinellas Diesel Service! We're from out of town, here to check out a used short school bus we plan to convert to a camper, and with only a few days notice PDS agreed to look it over. And boy are we happy they did! The mechanic Joe was fantastic: knowledgeable, professional, trustworthy, and thorough. His patient explanations of what it would take to fix its many problems were just what we needed. Talked with "Jeff" the Owner before dropping off my Yanmar Diesel Engine for repair. After 4 months of run around and excuses (of which none were valid), I finally picked up my engine in pieces and took it to another repair shop. They would not release my engine until I paid and exorbitant Bill. The owner told me on several occasions he had more important things he had to work on. read more

Buyer beware, these guys will not stand behind their work or diagnosis. Very unprofessional and RUDE. They came recommended from a friend. After misdiagnosing an issue with my diesel work vehicle, they refused to admit their fault and offer any sort of remedy. I will have to take legal action to get renumeration for my unnecessary costs. While these guys can perform the actual work, they cannot properly diagnose, nor make good on their company name. Be careful to get everything in writing, because they will twist everything to try to make you look the fool, when they are really the losers. read more
