I was recommended to try them seeing that they are 2 minutes from my house. When I got the pizza all the cheese had slid to one side. I was a little upset but hungry, we got a 14in sausage, spinach. It ended up tasting really good with a lot of cheese although the toppings could of been a little more. I will definitely be trying them again and asking for my crust more well done as well. Actually one of the best pizza places in ChicagoLand. Plenty of parking. We visit them everytime we are in town. They can do a thin crust well, not burnt, sauce is delish, no heartburn. Finally tried Pinemoor this evening. We ordered two 12". One mushroom and onion and the other mushroom and black olive. I wanted to love their pizza after reading good reviews. Taste is subjective but slimy canned mushrooms, chewy cheese and sauce that was ice cold at the edges is why I could only give two stars. We called in the pizza and left to pick it up 5 min after we called so the pizza should have been hot. Also, the menu posted online on Google search had priced out 2 pizzas with our toppings at $28 and they charged us $30. read more

My whole family has been obsessed with Pinemoor since I was a little girl. My family lives in Crystal Lake and we live in Indiana, so every visit while we grew up and STILL to this day, when we get in town it isn't "what's for dinner?" .......it's "what time are the pizzas ready?" I love every kind of pizza they have too. It's different than normal pizza. It's a thinner crust (but don't be turned off by that statement if you aren't a thin crust type of person....it's delicious.) And their focus isn't a thick layer of sauce and then some cheese. It's a nice thin layer of a light but delicious sauce, and covered by a thick layer of cheese from heaven. Some toppings like pepperoni I think come under the cheese which I used to hate as a kid because I would just want plain cheese and I couldn't tell which one it was. But as an adult I love it because the stupid toppings don't fall off. Their crust is crispy and the pizza dough is chewy but soft. Also the staff is awesome. When been regulars a long time and when my grandpa died 8 years ago they delivered us pizzas and didn't want any money. I thought that was so sweet and I will never forget about that. read more

I just finished WOLFING a HALF of a LARGE pizza from here. And I want more. The reviews are right--there's something addictive about it. My husband, who went in to pick up the pizza, thinks he *may* have seen a pinch of sugar (???) sprinkled on top of the pizza before it was baked. I don't know if it caramelizes the cheese and toppings or what, but it works! I was a first timer to the pepperoncini rings as a pizza topping and I totally dug it. The place has been around since 1952. I'd say they're onto something. For us, it became an instant classic. Helpful hint--They have "Facebook Specials" (specials posted on facebook). I've been a loyal Pinemoor Pizza customer for as long as I can remember. Great thin crust, with slightly sweet sauce and plenty of toppings. This is being dictated by my husband, a Crystal Lake native: "Every visit to Crystal Lake starts with ordering Pinemoor on our way from the airport. About 20 minutes from town we place our call, typically ordering 3 or 4 large garbage pizzas. When we give our name, the invariable reply is "Will that be pie-cut?" This is because one time, and one time only, they mistakenly made the pie square cut, to the abject horror of my 6' 3" 250 lb. brother in law. The pie was given to him free as a new one baked. He struggled disgustedly with the abysmally cut square parts and ate while he waited. So, it was all good. The friendly people at Pinemoor always make sure of that. My husband, sons, brother-in-laws and nephews each gobble down at least half a large pie each, often more. Once, my nephew ate a pie and a half. They rave and rave and can't get enough, for over FORTY FIVE years now. THAT'S how good it is. Note: Do not ask if they have salad unless you want to be mocked like the rube you are. read more

Out of the pizza places I have tried in Crystal Lake, Pinemoor has the best pizza. The crust is thin and crispy, the sausage pieces are large and are like little flavor explosions. I had to deduct a star because they used canned mushrooms. How disappointing. I wish people realized how quickly the flavors of the other ingredients can be degraded because they were paired with the salty-brine flavor of canned mushrooms. Always use fresh ingredients, people! Mushrooms last a week in the fridge! No excuses! Oh....side note #1: The value was pretty good. My daughter came by for dinner the other day bearing a Pinemoor pizza. We have lived in Crystal Lake for over 30 years and used to get their pizza often but for some reason got out of the habit of ordering from them... we will definitely get back in the habit of calling Pinemoor when we want a thin crust pie, they make the best thin crust I have had in years. I must say, I am very disappointed with this establishment. Compared to other pie joints in the area this place is last in competition. We ordered a thin crust with pepperoni and mushrooms for delivery. The delivery person was about 20 minutes late than the given time. The crust on the edges was burns and the middle gooey. Toppings: The pepperoni tasted like it was purchased from a low end deli or bad market. There was no flavor in the taste. The mushrooms tasted very similar to a canned product. The cheese was unfavorable without a hint of taste. Now, I am not a pizza snob but for 17 dollars the expectations should be higher considering the area. read more

Really great thin crust pizza made in an old school oven. This is the perfect no frills kind of place to get really good pizza. They have a pretty wide delivery range, but it's a fairly easy place to get to for pickup as well. They are in a shopping center right off of Highway 14. Be prepared when you order though, because there are just two sizes offered, large and small. It's a two inch difference, I believe, and just a two dollar difference between the two sizes.
