Cheese Pizza review by Ashton Stechly

Saw this in the Husky Headlines (North Elementary School Paper) and had to post. I have personally had the pizza, which is pretty good all things considered.

    Cute place! Downtown Crystal Lake

My 200th review (finally), and of course its about Pizza! That's Amore lives up to its name. I won't claim to be a NY style pizza expert. Haven't eaten loads of it or come across many pizzeria's that serve it...but this pizza was LOVE AT FIRST BITE! Thin, soft chewy edges, good amount of cheese and toppings. Light, tasty sauce. Huge slice comes with a super soft, fresh, large house made Garlic Knot! NY style you ROCK! I have another pizza love! (you can never have too many pizza loves - you embrace them all!). So glad I happened to be in the area, found a NY style pizzeria, noticed this adorable name and checked yelp. Great reviews and I loved...I mean LOVED the specialty pizza selections.. Talk about crafty! The Mac & Cheese (though I've had this before), Lasagna pizza - whoa... Brooklyn - homemade Alfredo sauce with ricotta (mmm), parmesan, romano, mozzarella, fresh parsley - also known as a 'white' pizza. Buffalo chicken, Slim's Special (with Arrabiatta sauce and Italian sausage)..and the list goes on.....I didn't try these as they weren't available after 3pm, but I'm sure going to! Specialty slices are only served 10:30-2:30pm (or until they run out and yes they run out). Sausage, Cheese, Pepperoni and Meat Lover's was on hand. Meat Lover's - crumbled bacon, imported ham, Italian sausage & pepperoni. Pizzalicious! I shared 3 slices. Meat Lover's, cheese and sausage. $2.50-$3.50/slice. Sauce was light, just a "light" slice in general. Liked everything about this pizza.... They deliver (ahhh..if only I lived closer). 14" small, 16" med, 18" large. Prices seem fair and they have a great selection of toppings. Interior is small with minimal seating, but charming. They have another location in area also. Menu offers daily sandwich specials, salads, a few pastas including their homemade meatballs and lasagna. They even have Strombolis & Calzones! Cooler offers single sized servings of salads, lasagnas (meat, spinach or cheese) and beverages to go. Yay for a variety of San Pellegrino. Picked up a lasagna to go. $6 and it was pretty good, not the best not the worst. Guy who took my order was really friendly and said Italian beef sandwiches are a big seller....hmmm...will have to try that too! Gluten Free dough available. Craving something sweet? Cannolis and of course...you guessed it...New York Cheesecake. Are you drooling yet? Get some of this pizza amore pronto!

Similar to the majority of the human race, every member of my family is a big fan of the wonderful pizza pie! We tend to stick with the pizza joints that we are most familiar with and leave it at that. Well, thanks to all the fantastic Yelp reviewers raving about T.A.P. we ventured away from the norm. The definition of Amore is LOVE and that is exactly the feeling we have for our new neighborhood pizza place. I say neighborhood pizza place because they are in the process of closing the Rte. 31 location and opening the new dine-in space on Main St. in downtown C.L. I phoned in my ordered and was greeted by one of the sweetest ladies. It was evident after some conversation (Yes, she actually had a conversation while I placed my order...unlike most places that are more concerned about getting the order and getting off the phone) that she was the owner. When I gave her my address she said "oh, we're going to be neighbors!" I told her this was our first time trying their pizza and that I was in between ordering the buffalo wings and Fancy Fries...she said that the Fancy Fries are her favorite and to give them a try...you can always try the wings next time. Well, she was 100% correct on her recommendation...they were very tasty...perfectly crunchy and the sauce was a sweet spicy mix. See my picture for a visual of the deliciousness. The pizza and garlic knots were great. As most reviewers have already mentioned, this is New York style, not the thin cardboard stuff. It was nice to hold the piece up and not have it fall over...simply fold it and devour! That's LOVE Pizza! Can't wait to try the dine-in experience and meet these extremely pleasant owners and support our newly located neighbors. I will now be TAP'n quite often into my new LOVE for fancy fries and NY style pie!

Great NY Style pizza, which is hard to find in the area. Reasonable prices, and they sell individual slices too!

Always pleasantly surprised with how good this pizza is. We do a custom: bacon garlic and sausage plus a side of moz sticks. Can't go wrong.

New favorite pizza! I was getting tired of the same old deep dish or paper-thin-cut-into-squares options and this place really hit the spot!

Just a heads up...give yourself some time. It takes about 45 minutes to an hour for a deep dish, but it's absolutely worth the wait. The staff is always friendly, and the whole experience just feels like a classic local favorite done right. If you're in Crystal Lake and craving pizza, this is the spot.

We ordered some calamari and chicken wings to start, and both were delicious! Then we ordered two deep-dish pizzas: Mama Primavera, which came with spinach, mushrooms, tomato, green peppers, garlic, and onion. Also got the Papa one which comes with sausage, mushroom, onion, green peppers, pepperoni, and bacon. So between the two mama is like a vegetarian style and Papa's has meat. The sizes are huge and we probably should have ordered a smaller size. Next time! Overall it was tasty and I would come back!

It has that true mom-and-pop, local favorite feel that makes you want to keep coming back. Being located right in downtown Cary gives it even more character. The deep dish pizza is fantastic, with a really interesting twist of hot honey that takes it to another level. It's different in the best way. If you're planning to dine in, make sure you give yourself plenty of time. The line for a table can get long, but the staff works incredibly hard to seat everyone as quickly as possible. If you're in more of a rush, I'd definitely recommend carryout--it's absolutely worth the wait either way. A true local gem.

I had a long commute home, so I left it uncut. It smelled so good, I wish I could have had a piece in the ride home. When we finally made it home after his long bus ride, I cut it and heated up a few slices at 250 in the oven. It was delicious....it would certainly be better fresh. Super crispy crust, sweet sauce without the typical tomato chunks like Lou's would be. Excellent cheese pulls and really flavorful when all the notes are combined. (About $23) The signage is not the best at night, so know it's attached to a meat store, deli like. Once I figure it out I went in to wait. The place was packed at 7:30 on a Wednesday. The bar is in the center left, with the to go pick up at one side. The tables flank all 180 degrees of the bar. Lots of people. Worth the hype, excited for the next 3.5 years of my son playing Cary Grove so we can try the Uncle Jerry's hot pepperoni pizza and the spinach as well. Check them out!
