I am gluten free and it does state in they don't have a dedicated kitchen and risk for cross contamination. With that being said, even for gluten sensitive individuals, the GF pizza is not safe for those that react to gluten. It tastes just like the pizza I had in Brooklyn and have been missing since 2019. The sausage, ricotta, garlic oil and the crust was perfection! I am a Lake Geneva type of guy and sorry not sorry Lake Geneva but our pizza sucks and none of it is worth talking about. So whenever I am around this spot I practically run to it. This is a nice cozy spot with New York style thin crust being the main draw here. They serve more than just pizza but trust me you come here for the pizza. They have slices up front that are put into an oven right upfront as well before serving ensuring a crispy and warm slice. We got a 14 inch cheese pie and got it well done. We didn't even get to eat it at home because we ate it on the way home because we were that excited to eat it! You can expect a light airy crispy slice with a good sauce to cheese ratio as well. This pizza rocks and I recommend it to everyone who comes through this area. I come from a restaurant background that includes management so I was rather impressed by something I saw in there while I was waiting. Every single kid that was in there was working and very attentive to their individual tasks at hand, not a single person just going through the motions or standing around . Easily the best New York Style Pizza in Mchenry county. Western BBQ slices on Fridays are great, but the cheese pizza is the GOAT still. Mac N Cheese pizza on Thursdays is wonderful. Their crust is wonderful, I would love to know how they make their dough and what flour they use. Best slice shop around by far, there's a side room attached to the main entrance but limited seating. More a quick bite or takeout/delivery place. I spent $14.95 on one specialty slices plus two cheese slices and a drink. Super affordable. read more

I'm more of a thin crust, Sal's girl. Tonight we ordered the mac and cheese pizza to try something different. It was okay, not as good as some of their others but good. I love their S.M.O.G... The not positive. I have repeatedly stressed to the person taking the order to please not ring/knock. As I did tonight. I have a 5 ft sign right next to the doorbell starting this. In the midst of Chicagoland and Chicago-style pizza, this is the only NY style pizza in McHenry County. This is unfortunate as the crust does not have the yeast taste and chewy texture desired in typical NY style pizza. This is a decent pizza, though, and is located across the RR tracks from the Crystal Lake train station. This part of town desperately needs an authentic NY style pizza restaurant for those not in the mood for deep dish Chicago style or cheap takeout pizza. They do serve a decent hand tossed pizza. It just lacks flavor and texture. Very small store front. The dining room is hidden off to the side through a small doorway. Plenary of people walking in and grabbing to go orders (which is what we did). Not very many employees working behind the counter and the phone kept ringing. We had to wait for someone to finally come and take our payment and give us our pizza boxes. There was not even a line of people. Just really busy couple of employees working the front of the store at dinner time. Hubby says this was our second time to order their pizza. read more

Haven't eaten loads of it or come across many pizzeria's that serve it...but this pizza was LOVE AT FIRST BITE! Thin, soft chewy edges, good amount of cheese and toppings. Light, tasty sauce. Huge slice comes with a super soft, fresh, large house made Garlic Knot! NY style you ROCK! I have another pizza love! (you can never have too many pizza loves - you embrace them all!). So glad I happened to be in the area, found a NY style pizzeria, noticed this adorable name and checked yelp. Great reviews and I loved...I mean LOVED the specialty pizza selections.. Talk about crafty! The Mac & Cheese (though I've had this before), Lasagna pizza - whoa... Brooklyn - homemade Alfredo sauce with ricotta (mmm), parmesan, romano, mozzarella, fresh parsley - also known as a 'white' pizza. Buffalo chicken, Slim's Special (with Arrabiatta sauce and Italian sausage)..and the list goes on.....I didn't try these as they weren't available after 3pm, but I'm sure going to! Menu offers daily sandwich specials, salads, a few pastas including their homemade meatballs and lasagna. They even have Strombolis & Calzones! Cooler offers single sized servings of salads, lasagnas (meat, spinach or cheese) and beverages to go. Yay for a variety of San Pellegrino. Picked up a lasagna to go. $6 and it was pretty good, not the best not the worst. Similar to the majority of the human race, every member of my family is a big fan of the wonderful pizza pie! We tend to stick with the pizza joints that we are most familiar with and leave it at that. Well, thanks to all the fantastic Yelp reviewers raving about T.A.P. we ventured away from the norm. The definition of Amore is LOVE and that is exactly the feeling we have for our new neighborhood pizza place. I say neighborhood pizza place because they are in the process of closing the Rte. 31 location and opening the new dine-in space on Main St. in downtown C.L. I phoned in my ordered and was greeted by one of the sweetest ladies. It was evident after some conversation (Yes, she actually had a conversation while I placed my order...unlike most places that are more concerned about getting the order and getting off the phone) that she was the owner. When I gave her my address she said "oh, we're going to be neighbors!" I told her this was our first time trying their pizza and that I was in between ordering the buffalo wings and Fancy Fries...she said that the Fancy Fries are her favorite and to give them a try...you can always try the wings next time. Well, she was 100% correct on her recommendation...they were very tasty...perfectly crunchy and the sauce was a sweet spicy mix. See my picture for a visual of the deliciousness. The pizza and garlic knots were great. As most reviewers have already mentioned, this is New York style, not the thin cardboard stuff. It was nice to hold the piece up and not have it fall over...simply fold it and devour! That's LOVE Pizza! This was a very big disappointment. I ordered a large Margharita pizza, chicken wings, and mozzarella sticks, for delivery from the Crystal Lake , IL location. I was told it would be just under an hour. One and a half hours later...nothing. I called to find out how much longer it would take, and they said the driver would be here in 10 minutes; he arrived 20 minutes later. All the food was cold. Pizza was soggy, the wings weren't crispy, nor were the mozzarella sticks. I immediately called to let them know how disappointed I was. The person who answered said he would talk to the manager. When he came back, he said I would get 20% off of my next order. I told him that doesn't do anything for this order. He came back with 33% off on the next order. I told him that's terrible customer service; he told me that was the best they can do. If this is what New York style pizza is like, they can keep it in New York. That's Amore Pizza is an amazing hidden gem in Downtown Crystal Lake. It is authentic New York style pizza! Buy it by the slice or order a pizza to go! That's Amore has an adorable dining room that was recently updated. Very cute decor. Family friendly! They have many unique pizzas that are all delicious. I have tried them all but my favorites are: Buffalo Chicken Pizza, the Margarita and the Lasagna Pizza. Yum!! They also have great pastas- delicious Alfredo sauce and Arabbiata sauce. Take and bake lasagnas are also a favorite of mine for when I don't feel like cooking. The pieces are HUGE and taste amazing. The staff is very kind and helpful. The owners are AMAZING. Cute, quaint, basic, and good!! Hole in the wall with a small alley back entrance if you don't find street parking. We had the calzone with bakery quality crust-crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Order at the counter and choose a seat in the adjoining room where it is nice and quiet for a conversation at lunch. The fillings were flavorful and one calzone and one salad were plenty for two. The cheese was pretty sparse and the sausage looked like cookie cutter processed Lunchable meat. Good NY style pizza with a very thin and foldable crust, light sauce, good amount of cheese and a great chew. It's not the best NY style I've had, but it's probably one of the better NY style slices you can get in the NW suburbs. I'd stop back if I'm ever in the area and craving a quick light bite to eat. Hard to find a good New York style pizza here in the Chicago suburbs but That's Amore is about as close as you can get to one. The lunch slices are cheap and easy, taste good too. Let's get something straight: I am team thin & crispy pizza...except when it comes to That's Amore. I never thought I would like NY (NJ?) style pizza. Floppy? No. Chewy crust? Uh-uh. You guys...their pizza is consistently delectable and dare I say...perfection. Pizza is my kryptonite which renders my satiety sensors useless. This makes ordering from here downright dangerous. I love white style pizzas...the Brooklyn and Mediterranean are bomb. Brooklyn is deliciously cheesy and the Med is wonderfully garlicky. Both are my faves. But, to satisfy the likes of others, we've also ordered pies with red sauce. Can I tell you...so delicious, as well!
