To top it off, their staff was friendly, attentive, and created an authentic family vibe for you to dine with kids, friends, or family!

When it comes to thin crust pizza being that I grew up on the northwest side of Chicago. I prefer Tavern style. A lot of people don't know what that is anymore but true Chicago ones do. Where I grew up it was a big Italian neighborhood and that is the standard type of pizza to a Chicago ones. Not deep dish. I've been living out here for 21 years and although I still frequent the city for certain foods as well as Ben making pizza from scratch which is time-consuming, I hadn't found a halfway decent authentic Chicago tavern style pizza out here up until a few years ago. Originally, I was ordering from Rosati's in Cary and I was somewhat impressed. Originally Rosati's was a family pizzeria that franchised their name and recipe off, but I've noticed that a lot of of their franchise locations as long as they hold true to the original recipe is pretty decent. Some aren't great. When I came to the one in Cary, I started noticing they started skimping on toppings so I stopped. I then tried the Pizza Stop right down the block from Rosati's. It's a pizza I'd like, love the crust however, they always always followed special instructions however, the sauce has a little too much garlic in it for me, which doesn't agree with me. Then, Gallos opened up. I tried them and was extremely impressed. The crust was crispy, the sauce is very tasty. And they initially followed my request for any toppings to be placed above the cheese rather than underneath. Why do I like toppings above the cheese? Because it cooks and crips more. When you're dealing with sausage, pepperoni, mushroom, onion, it just taste so much better. When it's buried underneath the cheese in my opinion, it's slimy, wet, and greasy. The last five times I ordered Gallo's and requested toppings above the cheese. It doesn't happen. It did initially but not anymore. Tonight I ordered a pizza requested toppings on top. I specifically told the kid on the phone that the last time I requested it it didn't happen and she told me that she would make sure it did. And to my disappointment after the fifth time it didn't happen. Once I received it, mushrooms were buried underneath. I called to advise and the young girl on the phone simply apologized and said "the next time I'll write your request down". My response back was "you should always write everybody's order and request down on a ticket". My guess is that she typed it into a computer on the register and figured it would magically happen. Again, I don't want to inflict lack of business to the people that own Gallows. But if they can't fulfill, simple requests, then I'll move on. I told the girl on the phone that there's a lot of places in the neighborhood that they have competition with. If they reply back acknowledging this review, they might say well we were busy that particular night but again it's been five times and there's times I order during the week when it's dead.

I have a lake home nearby and spend quite a lot of time and money in the area. Food has gone downhill unless the owner cooks it. The problem is he never seems to be there cooking anymore. Whatever cook they have is simply careless and inexperienced. And if you complain about the food you get rude comments back. Service is horrid no matter which bartender / server you get and somehow end up screwing the order up somehow and blaming the kitchen. One very overweight bartender keeps the a/c down so low you freeze half to death inside. Her weight and environment issues should NOT be the burden of the customers. And always grumpy and rude. Another old one is half drunk all the time and would rather sit and complain about coworkers and customers than do her job. With 3 people at the bar you still have to wait until you shout. And another seems so out of it she can barely take an order without screwing it up. Food is inconsistent and takes way too long. Garlic is so strong in everything it becomes the only thing you taste. It does not matter if it is a sandwich or a pizza, garlic and salt are pervasive in EVERYTHING. Staff is incredibly lazy and rude. Music plays so loud you cannot even hear your own conversation, inside or outside. Pizza is one step above frozen and we do not even order it anymore. It used to be decent and they have some good deals from time to time but its no deal if the food stinks. The place seems to cater to the local loser crowd and if you have kids do NOT bring them there or you will have them hear things they should not. Its a very small place and everything is heard inside or out. This place started out nice but since the owner is gone most of the time his staff has ruined it from the kitchen to the wait staff. We have not ordered from there in months and refuse to bring our kids there anymore after one staff member was drunk at shift end and began a fight with a drunk customer and the language was so bad we had to take our kids out. Until the owner can get better help and go back to making decent food again we will NOT be back. It is a shame because we met him a couple of times early on and he seems like a nice man. But some reason his workers are ruining the food and atmosphere. Poor food Long wait times even for small orders like a burger or cheese fries. Orders wrong half the time. Kitchen blames the wait staff, they blame the kitchen. Unruly workers and customers Dive atmosphere Many better places for family outings and food in this area. Colemans or the Broken Oar are much better choices and better pizza can be had almost anywhere. I despise Dominos but would eat their pizza over this stuff. Love our little bar/pizza place down the road. Always a good time, always a special, but my father in laws favorite is the Italian meatball sandwich. He's from Kansas, and every time he visits, he gets 2-3 of those throughout his 6 day stays! My hubby and I love to sit outside on their patio on warm summer nights and sip a cold beer, and eat some fried. Broccoli! Even our children will come with us at times. They have high and lower seating as well as the bar itself. They even have a children's dart board that's magnetized. Love us some Tony V's. Next best thing to having an "cheers" nearby. read more

The service is generally very good, sometimes it's busy and there are only 2 people staffed, makes it a long wait for a drink. Tap lines sometimes are dirty, can taste it in the beer. When the pan pizza came out, it was thin, maybe more like double dough? But not a pan or at least what we in Chicago are used to calling a pan pizza. After talking to the manager, it was explained to us that because they cook this pizza in a pan, That's why they call it pan, not that the crust is any thicker. For $23.49 for a medium 12", he quickly rejected it, and sent it back to the kitchen. We will most likely never be back because the prices seemed a little high for some pasta and pizza and never mind the fact that we were the only people in the restaurant and we were never offered refills on our drinks & the Parmesan cheese was never sent to the table, I had to ask for that. As friendly as our server was, the service is definitely lacking for having been the only patrons in the restaurant for just about an hour.
