I went for semi permanent eyeliner, which is a pretty uncomfortable procedure, but Ping made sure it was as painless as possible. She applied numbing cream and took her time with the procedure. She was very meticulous and I love the results - it was exactly what I was hoping for. She was also very friendly and personable and easy to talk to, which made the procedure more bearable. Like one of the other reviews mentioned, it was almost like a therapy session :) She even fixed my eyebrows a bit (I had screwed it up because I was trying to reshape them LOL), and let me know I can return in 2 months for a free touch up for the eyeliner. If you're looking for a relaxing spa-like facial, this is not it. Her space is inside another Asian establishment, so it might be confusing at first. Sandy and Ping have been doing weddings together for many years, with Sandy in charge of hair and Ping in charge of make up. Our wedding party consisted of the bride and 4 bridesmaids. With a group discount, the prices were $58 for bridesmaid hair and $65 for bridesmaid makeup. Since they don't do home visits, we had to drive to Sandy's Hair Studio the morning of the wedding. Ping brought her supplies over so that hair and makeup could be done in the same place. Their service was faster than we had expected since there were a couple of hair stylists working at the same time; we finished in less than 3 hours. They had requested for photos of each person's hair and face prior to the day of the wedding, which may have contributed to the efficiency during the day of our visit. As for hair, we all had up-dos. Given my extremely thick hair, I was impressed at the skill required to style my hair in such a way that the hairstyle can hold up throughout the course of the busy day. My hairstyle lasted all day in almost its original condition, until I decided it was time to take it down. All of the girls were happy with the hairstyles that were done for them, and the resulting up-dos complemented each girl nicely. They also did a good job on our makeup. It was natural enough that we didn't look scary when people are standing close to us, unlike some makeup jobs that require heavy makeup for optimal capture by photograph. However, we did look similar enough before and after the make up that I'm not sure it was really worth $65. An additional discount would have been nice. Overall, it was a good experience with Sandy and Ping. I definitely recommend them despite their high prices, considering their prices are lower than a lot of other providers of wedding hair/make up. Ping is very nice and chill and I spent most of the hour chit-chatting with her throughout my facial. She made the most dreadful part of any facial (THE EXTRACTIONS) less intolerable haha. the facial is a great price compared to others in the area. Ping's wonderful! I've been getting facials from her for years now. The facial I get are Deep tissue facials! Her deep tissue facials get Everything out!! The pore extraction itself can be a bit painful however the exfoliation and massage are extremely smoothing. It's also totally worth it because my face feels completely renewed when I leave! I first started getting facials from Ping about 20 years ago, when my face was extremely oily. Prior to that, I had gotten facials from other beauticians and found that they did not do a thorough job cleaning out my pores or blackheads. After my first visit with Ping, I became her devoted customer and have been going to her every month for about 20 years. Ping is extremely thorough, will spend a lot of time cleaning your pimples and blackheads, and will know how to treat your skin. Over the years as my face has gotten older (smile), Ping has used different products and machines to lighten the sunspots on my face, and lift the skin on my face, while still thoroughly clearing all blackheads/whiteheads and clogged pores on my face. Also, she is FABULOUS with using tweezers to trim and shape my eyebrows and lip line, because I have sensitive skin and get red and blotchy from waxing. Ping also has done a great job putting on makeup for me on special occasions. She always accents my features, which is necessary as I am Asian, and she never uses a heavy hand so that I look natural and glowing. Ping's salon is very clean and she uses French and Swiss products. She may not be the cheapest, but she is the BEST. Ping has a great heart, and is very good at giving advice as to how to apply makeup, how to take care of my skin, etc. For me, it's definitely worth going to a very experienced beautician like Ping who uses top of the line equipment and products, versus going to some cheap or inexperienced place and feeling unsatisfied afterwards! read more

I am so pleased to have found Ping's for "permanent makeup" after diligently reading reviews about where to go in the DC metro area for what is also called "micropigmentation". First I looked up reputable medical sites to learn about the process and potential risks. Then I read customer reviews for the salons nearest my home that were rated to be among the top 10 in the DC-MD-northern VA area. Together, this pointed me to Ping's for getting permanent upper and lower eyeliner applied. Since I knew what was involved from my reading, I was able to have a very productive exchange with Ping about my expectations, preferences, etc. She is a consummate professional, super friendly and attentive, and I enjoyed our time together. Having never experienced "tattooing" before, I'd describe it this way for the curious: At no time was I in any pain (Ping topically anesthetizes the lid area very thoroughly in advance); it felt more like being tickled when she then used the needle. Next the ink was gently swabbed on to be taken up by the skin. These two processes were repeated in succession a couple of times until an eye was complete, with Ping carefully removing any excess and irrigating the eye with water for my comfort. Repeat for the second eye and we were done. Never did I feel any apprehension about the procedure (hey! it's your eyes); Ping instills trust and knows what she is doing. But I will say for purposes of keeping this review real that your skin does experience trauma with the needle, even if you're anesthetized, and a stray drop of ink is an irritant to the eye. That's why the irrigation. So throughout the process at various times I experienced some reflexive squinting, although it never rose to more than a minor annoyance. When we were finished, Ping applied a bactericidal ointment, followed by a soothing cool compress, across my eyelids .She also instructed me on how to care for my eyelids for proper healing. That said, I couldn't be happier with the results (or the compliments I have received). For the record, it may be worth knowing to some readers that I am a senior citizen. At this point in my life, I have just about lost the use of my hands due to a health condition. So struggling to apply eyeliner had long since vanished from my routine. I had also developed allergies, it seems, to mascara. Now I can always look "bright-eyed and bushy-tailed"-- a big booster to feeling good about oneself. Thank you Ping!
