The first time I visited Pink Basil, I was a little disappointed in the food. I ordered the Pad Thai with chicken and have had MUCH better Pad Thai at other places. Pink Basil's needed more spices and a lot more peanuts. Since then I have learned what to order there, and I have been very pleased. The curries are delicious, in particular the avocado curry when they have it as a special, and I love their spicy string beans with chicken (although I ask them to ramp up the 'spicy' a couple of notches). The fried calamari appetizer is actually a huge platter of tempura-style calamari and vegetables. I go with a friend, and we usually split this "appetizer" for lunch! Excellent! The servers are always friendly and eager to please, although sometimes their mastery of English is not perfect. read more

Excellent service. Very good food. Had the Nonya Curry and it was above average. I thought this entree was a safe choice but it actually featured some interesting elements including tempura veggies, which were awesome when dipped in the curry. The curry was sweet, but not candy-sweet, which I hate. I am not a fan of Asian restaurants that do everything from "sushi to nuts," as it were. So I was skeptical. But if you stick with the curry, I would say you can't go wrong. read more

I went to this place in summer with my two other friends we got our seats nicely and they brought us out theses chip things that were raw and had mold. it was nasty. when our food came out one of my friend discovered a few little bugs crawling on his plate and we called over a waitress to tell her what was going on she looked over the plate and because she didn't take us seriously because we are teens she just said " it's fine don't worry" and laughed and walked away I told her that there is no way i'm paying for this the sushi was great but I don't recommend their bug wings( rude lady) read more

Slightly bumpy experience at Pink Basil. We walked in and asked about vegan options. We were initially dismissed: everything has fish sauce in it, and they can't cook without it. But we were with starving children, so I pressed. Couldn't they ask the cooks? We were then told that yes, some items could be veganized. But it would take a really long time. What??? My husband felt we should leave, but just in the knick of time, another development!!! We would have our food within a reasonable amount of time. We ordered a bunch, all of which was really delicious. Service was non-existent: we were parched and left with emptied glasses. Our request for a booster seat was not fulfilled until re-requested. We wanted to order more and had to approach the server. But a good meal nonetheless. read more

Had dinner here last night with family. I'm visiting this area, so had no idea what to expect. Fabulous! Service, food, pleasant outside patio; altogether top notch experience. I had Tom Kha with shrimp. The soup was delicious, just perfectly seasoned, and the shrimp were large, not overcooked but well-infused with flavors of the soup. Also, lots of mushrooms, which I love. I've eaten Tom Kha many places, and this was surely among the best. Didn't need an entree, but I'd ordered the Pad Thai with chicken (so as not to have everything shrimp!). It, too, was wonderful, with an amazing amount of nicely thinly sliced chicken. Well-seasoned and just plain delicious! Generous portions, both of the Pad Thai and the Tom Kha. I have Pad Thai enough for a very substantial lunch today. I'd surely return here, though I might try sharing an entree, or planning to eat "family-style" and thereby be able to try more delicious dishes. read more

My wife and i took friends from Wisconsin to get sushi because it is one of the best ones around. The sushi is prepared perfectly. The flavor is a little light but allows the Wasabi and Soy sauce to bring out the flavor of the ingredients. The missing star is due to the wait staff shortcomings. read more

Ordered at 4pm and left at 4:45pm after the served three groups of people who were seated long after us. Never got our food after waiting almost an hour. My last few visits have been disappointing. Since I am loyal, I have gone back, but last weekend was the worst. I took out of state friends that I wanted to impress and sit on the lovely deck, have drinks, etc. They did not get the order right for my friend, so it was sent back. And, what was going on with such a long time to get meals out?! Over a half hour for curry dishes and rice. The server did not acknowledge the long wait and her or the kitchen's error. She just smiled. There were hardly any other customers in there. Does the owner know what is going on in these restaurants? 3/4 have gone downhill for me. It is the under trained service that is awful. Food is good overall. A visit can be ruined by poor service tho. I don't care to go back anymore. A shame. read more

I really wanted to like this place. It seemed cute and convenient. It had also been recommended by some locals so I just had to check it out. I ordered sushi. It was terrible. Every roll I ordered was DROWNING in sauce. You could not see the roll itself or even tell what was in it. The sauces are meant to enhance flavor, not destroy the fish. I spent a lot of money and threw almost all of my food away. It was such a waste. I gave this place two stars because the staff seemed very nice and my husband liked his dish (he got the stir fry). I also agree with the other yelpers, this place is way over priced. If you do stop here and order, be sure to ask for all sauces on the side. read more

4 stars for Pink Basil because the food and it's spice level was perfect! I recently dined here on a Sunday night with friends and my mom. We started with over 3 appetizers in the pork larb, chicken potstickers, and yellowtail tartar. The tartar was definitely my favorite of the three because it was super fresh tasting. It contained freshly chopped yellowtail fish with mango and avocado, but also topped with what appeared to be salmon roe. My friends loved it too! Our entrees went perfectly with a cold Thai iced tea as well. One friend ordered a sushi roll, the other chicken Pad Thai, and my mother and shared the mixed vegetable green curry. It was a wonderfully spiced evening filled with new adventures in Thai cuisine. Not to mention the Pad Thai having the perfect amount of tender noodles and bean sprouts. I would definitely recommend Pink Basil next time you are craving Thai food or something to wake up your taste buds! read more

I have to say that when I looked at the menu, I was OMG the price is not cheaper than NY. As a New Yorker, I was really expecting a lower price range. But guess what, the food portion is so big, and the sushi and sashimi are in its great value compares to NY. It was so delicious and I love the food quality, taste, portion so the price will not be an issue. Besides, the decor is lovely, and my waiter - the Thai boy is very friendly. I agree with other reviews that not all waiters are all friendly, it'll depends. For example, the other Chinese looking waitress (I think she's either Malaysian or maybe Philippino since her skin color is darker). She was checking nearly all the table voluntarily and asked guests to see if everything's fine. For no reason that I'm aware of, she skipped my table. And when I gave her my credit card to pay my meal with a warm up toned Thank you, she said nothing bank to me. I couldn't understand why she treated everyone so nice but treated me like nothing. (This is my first visit). Then I looked around and realized other tables are white eaters, Caucasians. She must be faking the service I guess. If you love the portion, go there. If you are a single lady make sure you grab someone with you cox otherwise u will never finish your order. There's bugs and flyers in the restaurant, they don't turn on AC all the times I guess, it's about 75 degrees today and I felt a little sweaty in the restaurant. Ceiling fans were off too. read more

Eaten here a few times now and have throughly enjoyed it. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and is located in a nice spot in Mystic Village. The wait staff is friendly and consistent with making sure your experience is pleasurable. They even have outdoor seating which was pleasant on a nice evening. Each time I come here I always get the Mee Goreng with chicken and it's always delicious. The perfect amount of spice with great flavors. Also, the spring rolls for an appetizer are very good as well. I'll never pass up the chance to come here. read more

I'm rating this very honest. When we first arrived the bartender was engaging and ordering our drinks was prompt. We then ordered the sushi boat which they were accommodating for sushi choices we don't like squid or eel and they were fine with replacing different roll than what was offered. The waiting time for the sushi boat took forever! There was only 1 other guy at the bar with us waiting for takeout order and 2 couple outside. There were 4 waitresses all hanging out talking and eating while we waited to get another beer offered but our bartender was not around. Still waiting for the sushi boat by the way. About 30-40 mins later our sushi arrived and it was so so the red snapper was gross. Most of the sushi was too warm. I enjoyed the salmon and tuna. I also was disturbed by how many fruit flies were bothering me. The window was open which was a nice breeze but seemed weird to have so many fruit flies flying at me. read more

Place is cute. Our waitress was friendly and nice, however if you're looking for a timely dinner, then I suggest visiting when you have a minimum of 2 hr time frame. The drinks took the longest, all of our party was finished for a while before we got asked for another and when we did, we were about done therefore had to drink them fast to accommodate our scheduled plans after dinner. When we didn't get the first drink, 2 of our party at separate times went up to the not-so-busy bar to ask, the first person was not acknowledged and left standing there for several minutes. Then I went up and needed to be very obvious in order to get the not-so-happy looking bartenders attention. The food also took an abnormally long time but it was very good and came out as we asked....... but isn't that what you goto a restaurant for ! I can't rave enough about the dining experience I had with my son at Pink Basil last night! First some kudos: the portions are HUGE! My son ordered the calamari appetizer and a sushi roll. I ordered the sashimi entree (9 pieces chef choice sashimi and a spicy tuna roll). The calamari came out as a huge plate, delicately fried along with broccoli, asparagus, and carrots with a delicious dipping sauce. I was happy we decided not to order two appetizers! It was tender and perfectly seasoned. My sashimi plate was extremely large as well! The fish was an assortment of tuna, salmon, white tuna, yellowtail, striped bass, and a few others I wasn't familiar with. I usually order a combo plate whenever I eat at a sushi restaurant and this was by far, the best chef's selection ever. There were actually 18 pieces of sashimi! The spicy tuna roll was excellent. It wasn't tuna smashed up with srirachi and rolled, it was more of a tuna roll with a spicy sauce drizzled over it. The fish and rice were both perfect. The service was the best I have had in a long time. Both friendly and attentive, Anne and the busgirl made certain our every need was tended to; our water glasses constantly filled, extra sauces we requested were brought out quickly, plates cleared in timely manner, enough time between courses that we didn't feel rushed, light conversation but not overbearing. My sake was extra hot (how I like it!) and although I ordered a small saki, that too, was very large. The bill? Super reasonable. I couldn't help think that at home, in NY, that meal would've been $90. I think the total was $53. That's a huge plus! I can't say enough about how enjoyable the experience was. The downside? Not the restaurants fault, but it did take us a little bit to find the place. The YELP directions sent us to a building under construction in the big parking lot, where there are a few restaurants and a movie theatre. If this happens to you, drive towards 95 in the same parking area, and you'll find it. The only other minor downside was that the miso soup that accompanied my sashimi plate was luke warm. It could've easily been heated but I wasn't even expecting it (came with a salad that had the perfect dressing) and my son ate it, no complaints. I can't give less than 5 stars for these pretty much non-issues, given the overall awesome dining experience! Highly recommended. We'll probably have lunch there before heading home today! read more

We thought we had the only male waiter in the place. Waited for 15 minutes to place an order with him, prior to which, a different waitress came to the table and took our menus before we ordered. Knew right away this was going to be bad. Placed a drink and appetizer order, drinks came, appetizers didn't. Half hour later we placed our dinner order with who appeared to be our waiter, we didn't really know as no one other than the hostess was giving us the time of day. 45 minutes later, one dinner plate came out, still no appetizer, and the dish was incorrect. At the 50 minute mark we decided to leave. We asked for the manager, and were told there was no manager on duty. A guy who must have been next in charge came out and couldn't have been less interested in what we had to say, then he left our conversation after saying "sorry." Another male supervisor was hell-bent on getting our money, without listening to what we had to say. Comped us NOTHING, after sitting there for almost an hour, without either meal. Not ONE person, of the many hanging around the hostess' station, offered a resolution...or even asked what could be done to make it right. We paid for our drinks, and incorrect appetizer, in full. We will NEVER go back. We are local, and wanted to support a new Thai place, but can't possibly justify spending another dime on such unacceptable service. We really enjoyed our meal at Pink Basil. The restaurant is clean, bright, and attractive. The staff was all friendly. The menu is extensive but also easy to maneuver. There's no children's menu, but they'll tweak dishes they serve for younger palates and are happy to offer suggestions; in our case, our son was content to have a couple of delicious appetizers and some mango juice. The spicy dish we adults ordered was nicely hot and full of fresh vegetables, and the sushi was great. read more
