As the sort of person who loathes going to the dentist or hair salon because I know I'm going to have some sort of foofy conversation about this and that when I'd really rather just be reading the latest Entertainment Weekly, I am amazed that I actually look forward to going to see Jane Cowan and having hair yanked out of my face. Although I've only visited twice: once for a much needed brow shaping, and once for a panicked chin wax when Small Child asked me why I didn't just use a razor on my whiskers like Daddo, Jane made the impression of being professional, quick, and a lovely lady who you actually WANT to have a foofy conversation with. Also: Jane has a small waiting area for well-behaved children (most likely children with gaming devices) so it's a relief to not to have to seek out childcare when Momma just needs a little hair yanked out of her face. read more

jane is amazing. i'll never go to anyone else. first of all, let me just begin by telling you what i don't like about jane, NOTHING. she's organized and efficient. i set up my appointment by email and she confirmed by email the day before. her studio is beautiful, immaculate and smells great. she's a friendly, sensible and down to earth person. and now for the waxing report: she gets out the heavy waxing artillery to make sure every tiny hair is gone, Gone, GONE. she goes the extra mile to make sure you have the shape you like and.....all that other stuff. i think you should go to her. read more

Pink Moon is such a calm, relaxing oasis amongst the bustle of Mississippi. Starlit Nite was my aesthetician. She thoroughly consulted with me before starting and put me at ease immediately with her kind demeanor. You can tell she really puts a lot of care into her work. Her facial room is decorated with bejeweled and mirrored surfaces as well as soft things like feathers. The lighting was dim and put me in a relaxed state. I got the full facial with microdermabrasion. It was heavenly. She does a hand, arm and neck massage and even brushes your hair for you while your mask is curing! She has such an intuitive, healing touch that I was in complete la la land after she was done. My skin also felt silky smooth. People actually remarked on how glowing my complexion was after. She even checked up with me a few days later to ask how my skin felt. Amazing!!! This girl is truly magical and I would highly recommend her. read more

When you enter Jane's studio for the first time you are overwhelmed with her warmth and delightful personality. You feel like you are a dear old friend she's known for years. The space is bright, cheery and welcoming...and exceptionally clean. She is very quick and efficient (waxing) and makes you feel comfortable as she is working. There is not a lot say, I simply love this woman. She is just really down to earth, smart, funny, thoughtful, the real deal. Its a bit uncomfortable getting established with a new waxer, but I was immediately at ease with her. I found Jane when she was located in an ADORABLE space on MLK about 7 years ago... I had never been waxed "down there", and was not at all comfortable, going in, but just felt that it was way overdue! I found Jane to be very enjoyable, comfortable, quick, and efficient! And, like someone else posted, Jane is the type of person whom you'd want to go out for a drink with, after she just ripped all of your hair out from a very sensitive place... I get to visit her very infrequently, due to "pinching pennies", but would never see anyone else, and feel like she's a friend. She always remembers my stories, even if it's been a year since I've seen her, and she always finds interesting things to talk about, to distract me from what's actually going on. Jane is as great as everybody says she is. I discovered her via online reviews, and they are true to my experience. I went for my first ever Brazilian, which I did not enjoy, but not at all because Jane wasn't incredibly skilled with her hands and her personal manner. Jane even gave me a huge break because she new it was my first time and could see it was a difficult experience for me. It was completely unnecessary as far as I was concerned, but shows her compassion. I will definitely return, though for something more in the northern hemisphere! read more
