4.5 I went to Pinkberry with my family for a cold treat after dinner. It's located in a shopping center and there's plenty of parking around there. I walked in and there was a wall menu to look at. There was a woman at the front ready to take our order. She was very kind and gave me time to decide what I wanted. I chose to try the original vanilla with cookie dough bites and strawberry slices as my toppings. It was really good for frozen yogurt. The original vanilla stated that it was sweet and tart. After a few bites I got used to the tartness and enjoyed the combination of flavors that burst into my mouth. From the moment we walked in, the employees were unprofessional and rude. They gave us nasty stares, mumbled to each other while looking at us. Instead of providing friendly service, they were more focused on their phones and seemed completely disinterested in assisting us as customers. Additionally, they were aggressive in rushing us out the door, making us feel as though we were an inconvenience rather than valued customers. Unfortunately, the service we received was completely unacceptable and left us feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable. I hope this skill issue is resolved. Might be the dirtiest place I've been in while in austin. I've been to cleaner bars than this. It might have been mopped the day it opened and then never again. The employees could not be ruder. "You want Anything else" is apparently how you ask if there are anymore toppings desired. The elderly gentlemen behind was having a shred time hearing, to which the young man thought was funny. The young lady never even looked up. Suddenly another young man appeared who unbelievably was ruder than the other. Somebody ran through, who was presumably a manager. This is my favorite place for frozen yogurt! I love the cookies n cream and my wife said the salted caramel was delicious. The toppings were all fresh and the ones we selected were very tasty! The store was very clean and they do require masks. It's like any other froyo place, but better. There's a couple of key differences. First, their yogurt tends to be tarter than any other froyo place. I think that has to do with the active cultures -- which I am presuming means it's healthier. Next, while they have pretty much all the toppings just like every other froyo place, it's not self-serve. Place your order and they prepare everything for you. My advice? This spotlessly clean place is worth a visit, especially for the strawberry lemonade yogurt, which was absolutely the best combination of sweet and tart that I've had in a long time. read more

Pinkberry is great, in terms of their yogurt and customer service. It was the OG yogurt shop where I'm from, and it will always beat out the competition in terms of food quality. Places like Menchie's have kind of icy yogurt that just doesn't feel as smooth/creamy as Pinkberry yogurt. The one thing I'll say is that as someone who worked retail for many years, the workers look like they want to kill themselves. They do a great job of playing happy, but if you know what to look for you can tell the management is pushing them too hard. Personally, I don't think everyone should have to look happy all the time. If you're getting paid $10 an hour to serve yogurt, I think you should be a allowed to look a little surly. Okay, here's what's fun for me at Pinkberry: It doesn't matter which bright and cheery young person I'm working with - you'll know what I mean when you get there - I just ask them to make me something they would order, and they're always delighted to do so. I've never had the same thing twice, and I've had some interesting combinations I wouldn't have thought of before. Another way of viewing this is I can be pretty lazy, but we're talking froyo here, not world peace. Whatevs. I've also never had froyo quite like Pinkberry's - as in, "This stuff tastes like genuine live-culture yogurt." There's a tart factor in some flavors that may surprise you, so you should probably sample stuff before committing. You can always temper tartness with fresh fruit and toppings. And speaking of savory, I've had a combination here that tasted exactly like a Caprese salad. I thought that was cool and different. It's not self-serve, and it's not the cheapest stuff either - I usually get the small size of whatever they're making for me, and it's always been $4.87. You can save a buck by going with a small cone instead of a cup, which gets you a little less product. But seriously, if you're racking up a $10 charge at the typical 43-cents per ounce venue, you should seriously consider bringing your goo quota down a notch. Pinkberry is apparently a nationwide chain, this one in Westlake is the first in Austin, and it's a happy place with a clever phone app/loyalty program. Pinkberry isn't self serve. OH! oh. oh that sucks. It actually turned out ok, and I've been here 3 times in the last week. That's a little ridiculous. I love their original flavor. It tastes so fresh, and unique, and delicious with a slight bitterness but a sweet finish. The texture is much creamier compared to Froyoyo. But don't worry, Froyoyo is still near and dear to my heart. The small original happens to have 150 calories, and tastes phenomenal with blueberries, and is bigger than I would expect. Yeah, I'm one of those people. For the record, chocolate hazelnut is a chocolately smooth adventure of amazing. Also the peach flavor with the cinnamon honey syrup is delightful. The people working here are great. Everyone is always so happy to give me samples, which is something I was hesitant about because it's not self serve. It's hard to believe there are folks who don't love Pinkberry. I absolutely adore it. The counter folks are always chipper and friendly and let me tell you, that can be hard to find in teenage help. Not a drop of apathy, ever. Tonight, young Skylar was our host and he was happy to let us sample some of the new flavors - the pink champagne was my fave - and guide us to the toppings that would compliment the flavor. I had just been commenting to my own teenager how annoying it is to have someone working and representing a business and clearly not caring if they are doing the job well. Skylar was the perfect example of someone doing it right. The froyo is always delicious, the toppings are fun to experiment with and I never regret a visit. I've been to Pinkberry before and when I heard they opened a store here in Austin I was surprised they were even around. Last time I flew back home all Pinkberry's seemed to disappear but apparently they are still around. I'm not OCD but I'm glad that Pinkberry is not a self served yogurt. I love Pinkberry and I was so happy to find they were in Austin after we moved here from Los Angeles! Original with strawberries, granola and extra chocolate crisps is my jam. Every time I have been in this location, busy or slow, I always receive the best customer service. Staff is so friendly and are happy to show-off their new flavors with little samples. Today, I walked in and the owner(?) was behind the bar making their new flavor profile for November. He happily says I'll be the first one to try it and hands it over, beautiful and gratis! When I first heard about Pinkberry, my initial thoughts were "what makes this different than any other froyo place?" When I first walked in and found out that the workers add your toppings and limited your swirl size, my eyebrows raised a little: deviating from the traditional froyo model a bit. A quick glance at the price for the size brought my eyebrows a bit higher too. My initial dismay quickly turned into cheers of joy though. In the froyo world that is Austin, it's in my humble opinion the best. Froyo is meant to be a light alternative to ice cream anyways, so the fact they limit the sizes and make it for you somehow feels right actually. They have mostly fruity flavors too, a big plus in my book as I feel that's the way froyo should be. I got the pomegranate and key lime. Both flavors are incredible. The difference between Pinkberry's froyo and the others is the velvety texture in my opinion. It has a strong consistency and bright flavor profile: not too acidic, not too sweet, but enough of both to make you smack your lips after each bite, solid and firm but not runny liquidity like other places. They also have some very interesting toppings (cucumber and cherry tomatoes anyone?) but I stuck with the fruit (mango, pineapple, blueberries), which was definitely fresh and even more exciting as summer comes soon when more of it will be in season. It's a bit of a drive from where I live, but I can easily see why Pinkberry is a hit in LA. If you're a control freak who wants to make a massive bowl of froyo, this place likely isn't for you; but if you like people who know what they're doing at the counter and looking for a refreshing light dessert on a soon to be hot summer day, this is the place to be. read more

Here comes another California legend looking to make a splash in other parts of the country but failing to live to the hype. First, it was In-N-Out and now it's Pinkberry that makes its way to Texas. I tried to keep my expectations low to avoid disappointment but alas I still fail to see how this froyo is any better than the self-service ones. Was that was supposed to make me feel warmer to Pinkberry than other froyo establishments? The fact I don't have to do the work? Nothing really against Pinkberry, the facilities were nice and the attendants super friendly but I'm not going out of my way for frozen yogurt that's really not all that different than the one down the street from my house. Pinkberry, how I've missed you! I only recently found out about the Austin locations and, having missed them for so long since moving from NYC, had to get my yogurt fix. It's even bette than I remember!! This location is super clean and has lots of parking, and great outdoor seating for those cool autumn nights. I got the pomegranate yogurt with blackberries on top. It was tart with just the right amount of sweetness. The server was so nice and let my bf, who had never had Pinkberry before, sample a few flavors before ordering. However, any Pinkberry without Cap'n Crunch as a topping option, whose employees have no clue what Cap'n Crunch even is....will get no love from me. Original with Cap'n Crunch is the holy grail of Pinkberry, if it's not available, it's just not the same. ETA the owner contacted me and informed me that there is Cap'n Crunch under the counter. 2 star upgrade for the owner being awesome. I'll update again after I'm able to try it out in person. read more
