My childhood TCBY (and seemingly, all locations in San Antonio) boarded up decades ago, so imagine my surprise when I passed by this one while on a trip to Austin! Upon entering that everlasting aroma hit my nose and I knew I was in for a treat! The friendly staff member offered samples, but I knew exactly what I was there for - a scoop of cotton candy in a cone. My order as a kid was every bit as delicious as I remembered! I hadn't had TCBY in 22 years and couldn't believe this place was an operating business. The business owner emerged wearing a Longhorn cap and I figured this was his baby; eventually, he told me he had owned this for 37 or so years! The ambiance is as weird as Austin. An unhoused woman came by and started messing with his OPEN sign and he handled the situation very well. The white chocolate mousse was insanely good and tasted exactly how I remember. Best looking nastiest soft serve I've ever had. Presentation amazing, went through the drive-thru service was good but unfortunately the chocolate soft serve did not taste like chocolate at all! I'm not sure if they use the same machine for all the other flavors or that batch of chocolate was made incorrectly but it didn't taste like chocolate one bit. Waffle cone was good though. I used to go to TCBY when they had a location in Alamo Heights so this place is very nostalgic for me. I don't think you can find better frozen yogurt anywhere. TCBY is just creamier, smoother, more flavorful, and healthier than a lot of the other frozen yogurt places out there. I think this is the last location in central Texas so I hope it sticks around for many years to come. read more

Open for drive through only, and honestly, that's kind of a relief. It's nice having an excuse to stay in the car and be a lazy bum. Of course, they do accept walk-up orders if you're without a vehicle, so no sweat for all you valiant pedestrians out there. I'm simple, so all I ever want is the chocolate almond soft serve. Three cheers for having a dairy-free/vegan option! It's light, sweet, creamy, and refreshing, not to mention hella cheap if you go for a small kid's cup. Super fast service and you're on your way again. Very important note though: the drive through lane empties out onto a one-way street going left. DO NOT TURN RIGHT. I repeat, DO NOT TURN RIGHT. Not that I would ever make that mistake in the first place. read more

Honestly I didn't expect their soft serve this good!!! It's so nostalgic for me. A kiddie cup also comes with the perfect size to make up the delusion of being a kid again. The chocolate soft serve was very creamy and chocolatey, not overly sweetened or heavy. I would come to try their other options later. Def recommend! read more

Stumbled across TCBY while exploring UT Austin on a hot August day. I agree with some other reviews that the vibes inside could be a little better (the interior felt a little outdated and sad). But I see so much potential in this place. While the employee wasn't outrageously friendly, we was kind and patient when we asked to sample several yogurts. The yogurt was amazing and hit the spot. I was a huge fan of the honey Greek yogurt (you can't really find anything like it anywhere else). I added rainbow sprinkles as my topping (which he was very generous with). It was the perfect refreshment to carry us throughout the day. Again, I see the potential. Great yogurt, great location... just needs a little work to transform the vibes from good to great and it will be THE HOT SPOT. I will be coming back again if I'm ever in the area! read more

This place is not only nostalgic for me but it's been my tried and true go to place for a delicious treat. I started coming here 20 years when I was a student at UT. Located literally across the street from the UT campus off of MLK, this TCBY has been around for a very long time. Honestly, they might be the only TCBY left in Texas because I haven't seen one in years other than this location. My first ever frozen yogurt was from here! Before the fad of frozen yogurt shops popped up a few years ago there was literally only Baskin Robbins, Amys (they were really new at the time), and TCBY. TCBY was the only one that served frozen yogurt (soft serve) at that time. I've been getting the same order for 20 years. Vanilla parfait with strawberries. That's it and that simple. Every now and then I'll ask for a taste of their white chocolate yogurt (super yummy). They also have a drive thru which makes it incredibly easy to get in and out. Now that I live out of town I only get to stop by a few times a year. For what it's worth I can say that the quality of their products has been consistent over the years. Whether it's the flavor or the nostalgia it brings to me whenever I get a parfait from there, all I know is that coming here puts me in "my happy place". I hope they never close so I don't lose my fav treat and "memory" experience. read more

I love TCBY and it's so hard to find so i was very excited to find this little gem in the heart of downtown Austin. The building was cute, and the food was yummy but the customer service wasn't great. I asked for extra fudge and they said they can not do any extras of any kind, which was weird. The guy didn't seem to care whether or not they had any business and that's a bummer because without customers, the doors shut and you don't have a job buddy. Aside from the customer service sucking, the yogurt was great- but it would've been better with extra fudge. :) read more

Went for Waffle Cone Wednesday, and the ice cream was pretty good (they only allow for soft serve if you're doing the waffle cone Wednesday). I got the greek honey vanilla which tasted like sweet and creamy greek yogurt, and my friend got the mango sorbet which I thought was better. When we went up to the drive thru line, no one took our orders at the menu so we had to walk up to the payment area, and the guy standing there was a bit rude and seemed annoyed at us even though they're the ones who didn't take our order. Overall for $2.25, I wouldn't say it was terrible. read more

I always come here with Jon whenever we're craving ice cream. It's usually really empty in here so we get our ice cream pretty fast. They have a lot of options for froyo and ice creams. We usually get the vanilla golden froyo with the rainbow sorbet and gummy bears on top. I love the creaminess of the froyo, tartness of the sorbet, and the hardened gummy bears. Usually around $6 for a medium, and it satisfies our cravings. It's a really chill place to get our go-to ice cream! read more

I wouldn't call the guy working the window rude, more so just like "east coast brusque". We love everyone to be friendly down in the South but truth is, not everyone has it in their personality to be chipper and this guys happens to someone who is more low key. I work down the street and come here about twice a month. Since there is only one person working, he does sometimes get a bit frazzled but as long as you're patient with him, he will take care of you. I generally get their one sugar free flavor(I avoid sugar) which is not bad but if sugar is not an issue, my fave would be their white chocolate mousse with the peanut butter cups-so so good. Not being able to go inside and order as a pedestrian is a bit inconvenient but hey, at least they're still open. read more

This ice cream place has been around for a really long time! They have the $1 Wednesday specials but its only for the basic flavors. Service is always meh. They aren't very nice but they aren't particularly rude either. But i don't ever really feel welcome lol... The ice cream is your average ice cream. I would rather just pay extra and eat amy's... I believe this is he best frozen yogurt place in Austin! Much better than red mango which is nearby. The flavors are very natural tasting and not too sweet! The texture of the frozen yogurt is creamy and similar to ice cream. Plus, on Wednesdays you can get a kid size cone (which is big btw) for only $1.07! I recommend coming here! read more

BAD EXPERIENCE UGH Walked into TCBY with four middle-school girls I was going to treat to 99 cent waffle cones. Punk, red-head employee is behind counter. Punk, red-head employee looks up. Me (cheerfully): "Is today 99 cent waffle cone day?!" Employee (cheerlessly): "Yeah. Do you want waffle cones?" Me: "Yeah, I'll order five!" Employee: "What size do you want? The regular or kid's?" Me: "Uh, I guess regular!" (Because why not, they're bigger!) Employee then begins to prepare five waffle cones, with a stink face like we had just encroached on his presence. One of the girls had to repeat *FIVE TIMES* what she wanted. (Granted, I know it's never easy to take orders for four distracted, uppity middle-school girls, but come on, at least smile once.) After preparing waffle cones, employee tells me they are all $4-$5 each...okay seriously?! Employee says, "Because you got the regular size." How the heck are you going to not tell me that the regular-sized waffle cones were $4-$5 each if I had literally JUST asked you if it was 99 cent waffle cone wednesday?! Argued that he never told me that the regular size wasn't part of the deal, and punk employee only gave me two of them for 99 cents. Didn't even offer me a receipt. Call me a TCBY #WCW newbie, but from a customer-service standpoint, this is NOT OK, especially because I had literally JUST asked if it was 99 cent waffle cone day before he asked me what size waffle cone I wanted. Employee should have said, "Oh, regular-sized waffle cones are not part of the deal." Punk, red-head employee with stink face was misleading, rude, and seemed like he was on drugs the entire time (I mean, normally I'd think this was more funny, but at least don't put m&m's on froyo with a stink face!!! I didn't even know that was possible!!!). Such a terrible, bad-mannered employee. And okay, dude, if I wanted to pay $5 for froyo, TCBY would not be my first choice. We went here last night for dessert. The chocolate soft serve was great and the regular scooped ice cream was flavorful too. I do think it is a bit overpriced for what you get. For COVID, they are having everyone go through the drive-thru so you can either walk up the drive-thru or drive up. read more

Never thought I would be a fan of Americanized ice cream (always way too sweet), but Lick proved me…read morewrong. Touché. The three of us each grabbed three flavors (F, E, D--haha, funny, right?) and rated each one with sugary zeal. Roasted Beets & Fresh Mint (F, E) - delicious, subtly minty, with a very creamy, mild beet flavor. I never had such a refreshing ice cream that wasn't sorbet. The mint really made a difference. I'm a huge fan of places that curate exotic flavors (a vegetable, really?) into their menu, which only increased my opinion of this place. Hill Country Honey & Vanilla Bean (E) - one of the smoothest vanilla bean ice creams I've had. It reminds me of a traditional ice milk soft serve. It wasn't the most impressive vanilla ice cream I've ever had, but it was still very good in its own right. Dark Chocolate, Olive Oil & Sea Salt (E, D) - such a great balance to the sweetness of the rest of the ice cream options. I always love little chunks of salt in sweets to cut through the sugary intensity, so this one was an instant favorite. GOAT Cheese, Thyme, and Honey (E, D) - a complete 100% hit. Probably my top, alongside the beets. My BFF said it tasted too much like a meal rather than a dessert and couldn't give it a high rating, but as a charcuterie fan, I know there are plenty of "dessert" cheeses. I mean... cream cheese, for example? But is that really a cheese...? Uhhh. Very Strawberry (F) - a clean strawberry flavor. A bit artificial, but still so great. It far outweighed the Sweet Cream w. Strawberry flavor we tasted later. Cookies & Cream (F) - I never liked cookies & cream before, but this changed my mind. It hits so hard when you get a full spoonful. I love this location and the yogurt!! The staff are friendly and quick. My favorite flavor is the White Chocolate! The only thing that's a bummer about this place is the parking, but I tend to scarf down the yogurt and head on with no problems. I highly suggest you take a special trip here to enjoy a special treat!! Someone definitely paid someone off there... ...but anyway, last weekend was actually our second outing at Besame. The first time, we must have had the owner who was chatty and friendly. This time, we had a teenager who had one earbud in his ear and--shocking!--managed to get one of our orders wrong. He seemed sweet enough though, but damn, can the kids not exist without being tethered to technology even *on the job*??! Regardless, the ice cream here is very good. We've had it before at Meanwhile, and while it's not knock-your-socks-off, it'll satisfy a sweet tooth. As far as flavors, one of us thinks that the mint cookie monster tastes too much like toothpaste but the rest of the family thinks it's pretty good. We especially like the Painted Black and the Chocolate Honeycomb. They also had some blackberry crumble coconut special that was incredible. Prices are slightly high taking account into portions, but overall, a welcome addition to the neighborhood after Uncle Nicky's shuttered its doors (yay!). 3.5 stars, rounding up, and no doubt we'll be back again at some point.

I know many Austinites have an undying loyalty to a local ice cream chain but it simply does not compare to Gelato Paradiso (unless you're my husband and can't get enough of Mexican vanilla). The pistachio gelato is intensely nutty, perfectly smooth, and easily my favorite. The raspberry is a close second - packed with fruity flavor and the texture is somehow thick n creamy despite being a sorbet. It'll be hard for me to peel away from these two options, but samples of the dark chocolate and salted caramel were also so good. Ask for two flavors if you can't decide, the servers are happy to help. Not a ton of seating/standing options but there are benches right outside. Love the little window that lets us peek into the kitchen where the magic is made. Shoutout Baldinucci Pizza Romana forever and ever for introducing me to the wonderful Gelato Paradiso! Will be back for lots more this summer!

Super creamy and they had so many flavor options. I got the chocolate and strawberry dairy free. My husband got vanilla and our nephew got cookies and cream. They all loved theirs. I got the small and it was still such a good portion. However they didn't offer us to sign up for rewards and we spend over $30 on ice cream. They said they couldn't use that purchase towards points so that was a bummer. Otherwise a great time and will be back! It's so delish.

Not sure which was better- the cookies or the ice cream- but together they were delicious. I love that there are so many different cookie options to create a sandwich with along with the various toppings. I opted for mint chocolate chip ice cream on the regular chocolate chip cookies- it hit the spot. Only down side is the price point but guess that's expected in the Austin metro area. Ended up spending $35 with tip for the three of us (2 bowls and a sandwich).

I also tried their tiramisu (which I think is only offered on the weekends). I thought this was a bit disappointing. The lady fingers were a little too soggy for my liking and the layers were a little inconsistent. I wouldn't say it was bad but the cookie was way better.
