I consider myself somewhat of a pizza connoisseur. To be honest, pizza's kinda my job. I think I'm quite fair when judging a pizza joint and this one really failed to "WOW!" me. After a couple too many cocktails on St. Paddy's day, my husband, my brother, and I decided that pizza sounded like a plan. We decided to check out Pink's and dine in. Any one who has dined in can tell you that it's a BAD idea. The bar stools are horribly uncomfortable and the tables are literally about 5 inches wider around than a large pizza. We balanced our plates and drinks very precariously on the table, trying not to drop anything or knock anything over. As for the pizza, it was good. But that's about all I can give it.... particularly when it cost $25+. The crust had excellent texture but was somewhat lacking in the flavor department. I was also slightly soft on the underside from using a conveyor oven rather than a coal-fired or deck oven. I really like my pie crispy and this wasn't it.... within 5 minutes it was totally soft. As for the cheese, the sauce, and the toppings, they were, again, good.... but nothing notable. The pepperoni was bland (I like a good kick to my pepperoni) and the jalapenos also managed to be spice-less. It was kind of a buzzkill. I gave it 3-stars because, as mentioned multiple times.... it was pretty good. It definitely blows Papa Johns, Pizza Hut, and Dominos out of the water.... but still nothing I would go out of my way to suggest to people. All I want is a place for what New Yorkers call a "regular" pie (or, as one of the pizza places near my old apartment would have it, "regural".) I am not much for writing reviews about restaurants because my experience may not be what everyone wants/needs/likes. That having been said, I would like to comment on the extremely high level of service that I just received. Walked in for a couple of slices, but they recently changed the pizza by the slice size. There's plenty of pro's and con's to the old monster slices that they used to have but no one can ever say they left hungry after one of those. Anyway decided to split a pizza. The Story: behind the counter were your typical young pizza guys, two to be exact. One guy was running circles around the other guy (more to follow). At one point the less work prone of the two left for a delivery and that's when I saw it... During the time of the ongoing NBA Finals we hear a lot about one player "putting a team on their back" in some sort of Atlas metaphor. Honestly, watching a multi-millionaire do that sort of thing can be pretty impressive. Watching that happen by an $8/hour- guy at the local pizza joint bordered on amazing. At some point I looked up from my pizza (half maria/half rocko, not that it matters) and saw that the guy who had taken my order was now the only employee in the store. There was a line of hungry customers at the register, two phone lines that didn't seem to stop ringing and a line of orders coming up on the printer in front of me. Expecting things to come to a grinding halt, I got comfy on my bar stool and stared like the rubber-neckers on the 288-610 interchange every day. Matthew B., as my receipt would state his name to be, somehow prevented the line from going out the door. At one point he answered both phones at the same time (one on each ear), and managed to sling two or three pizzas and a few slices into the oven. The best part is Matthew B. managed to smile the whole time, "sir" and "ma'am" everyone that walked in the door, and still chat with me as I watched him work. The guy never let it seem like he was stressed and never broke stride. I'm sure that it was a welcome relief when not one but two delivery drivers returned at about the same time to help him catch up. Found out the the "less work prone" of the two drivers was actually a trainee, so ol' Matthew B. had managed to pull all this off while training the next generation of pizza joint guys. Kudos to you Matthew B. You deserve a good "we just tried to play our game" kind of locker room interview. I'll be back to watch the work ethic and dedication to good service, oh yeah, and the pizza...that shit's awesome. read more

Whenever you go to pizza place, I dont think it's a good sign when you see a rolling pizza oven (same as dominos, papa johns, sams club, etc). I still tried and the pizza was not that good, especially with the price you pay. They dont allow substitution and they charge for every little thing, including if you want to order half and half. The wings is definitely not worth a dollar each. If you get slices, it's cold toppings on reheated crust. It's surely not the best pizza like most people here are trying to say. read more

After we ordered, we were not given our drinks until I went back to the counter and asked for them. They had no clue what I ordered to drink or even if I had paid for them. We have to go there soon and eat it!" My uber-enthusiasm stemmed from an encounter of Pink's pizza while playing Bingo with some friends for a birthday party. Memories of their Hawaii Five-O danced in my head as I remember downing three huge slices of pizza, ready to eat more. Perfect, chewy but not-too-thick crust, covered in abundant chunks of ham and pineapple, covered in a savory layer of cheese. I was all but too eager to reenact my memories with my husband. So yesterday after playing the "What do you wanna eat?" "What do YOU wanna eat?" game for 10 minutes, Hubbs decided to order a Pink's pizza for pick-up. We decided to do half pineapple and ham, half ground beef and mushroom. For a 12" pizza, it's $9.99, plus $1.50 per topping. Okay, so it should be $13.00, right? When we put the order over the phone, the girl said, "Hawaii Five-O?" for our first half. "I guess." Then the total came up to be $16. Uh, what? We later realized that since Hawaii Five-O was a "specialty" pizza that they charged for the specialty price. Which basically is extra cheese for $2. Anyway, they said it was going to be ready in 15 minutes. So we left and picked up our pizza. First of all, the order was under "Anna." I don't know how they mixed up "Sam" and "Anna" (especially since the hubbs ordered), but whatever. We paid, and then walked out. When we got home I tore open the box, only to find our Hawaii side plain. Just cheese. I thought maybe it was hiding under the cheese, but no... nothing but sauce and crust. Hubbs was frustrated and called them. This was our conversation: Girl at Pink's: Hello, can you please hold? Hubbs: Sure (We wait for 5 minutes) Guy at Pink's: Thanks for waiting, can I help you? Hubbs: Hi, we just picked up a pizza, and we were supposed to have Hawaii Five-O on one side, but it was actually just cheese. Guy: Okay, please hold on a second. (Puts the receiver down and not on hold) (In the distance) Hey, can you pull up the pizza with the half Hawaii Five-O? Girl in distance: Yeah, it's right here Guy in distance: Why is it under another name? Girl in distance: Because it wasn't their name, so I changed it. Why are you looking it up? Guy in distance: Because the pizza order wasn't right. They ordered a Hawaii on half of it but it was only cheese Girl in distance: That's their fault. They should've checked the pizza when they came in. That's their problem, not ours (silence, then we were put on hold) At this point, we were pretty upset. Then they transferred us to a manager, who apologized and comp'ed us for our pizza. He further explained that the pizza goes through three sets of hands, and that it was no excuse for us to have received a cheese pizza. Hubbs further explained how we overheard the conversation and the girl's comment, and he apologized again and said he would talk to her. So........ crappy experience somewhat turned around by great customer service from the manager and a comp'ed meal. If I didn't like their pizza so much, I would NEVER go back. I was craving pizza and when in Houston, I go to Luigis in Midtown. But, I was in Rice Village already and feeling a bit lazy, and thought this Pinks place gets high Yelp marks and is just down the street. So, it was about 8 pm when I arrived, no more slices only whole pies, fine, the slices seem a bit pricey anyway. Food/Drink: 3/5 - no water available except bottled, not sure I've been to a place that has tables (vs. a food stand), that didn't have water. Pizza-toppings of spinach and mushrooms were fresh (that is the good)...here is the bad, doesn't anyone who eats here see a resemblance of the crust to Boboli from the grocery store? The crust was super bready and not in a good way (I'm originally from Chicago so I know great crusty/bready pizza). Service: 1/5 - maybe the gal at the counter was new, but, she assumed my order was to go, didn't ask, did not provide a receipt for my CC payment until I requested it, and when I sat down at a table it had not been wiped down so, I asked for napkins (none were out). She was like oh, wait a minute. She went to get a new roll of paper towels and then offered to wipe down the table next to me, instead of the one I was sitting at, odd. Slices with a tender crust and great toppings. proper size and perfect for you people who want the NY pizza feel... you can roll it, bend it or fold it all to get it into your mouth... the slices are a nice size too. I was taken aback by the price of a slice tho'. at 5 plus 75 cent per topping it can add up fast....for 2 it'd almost be better to order a whole pizza (13 bucks and up) and live up to the gluttony your stomach deserves. read more

Oh Pink's, how I adore thee. I relocated from New York to Texas and desperately miss deliciously simple pizza. Most places here in Houston are awful, especially with delivery service. My boyfriend finally got tired of hearing me complain about sub-par pizza and decided to order from Pink's. Our pizza was hot and fresh, got to us in a reasonable amount of time, and was delicious! Not necessarily New York Pizza, but the closest I will get without having to trek downtown for some other places. They do take a little longer to deliver than your chain pizza places but it is totally worth the wait. You can tell that everything is made fresh! The one downside is the chicken wings. I'm a sucker for wings and pizza. Unfortunately the wings here are not great, but I'll just keep on ordering the pizza. So excited to have a location close to the house we are buying. read more

I've been to pinks pizza a few times and i do enjoy their pizza, but I personally think they're decent and nothing special. They are definitely a bit pricey. Last time I had a custom cheese pizza with beef and Roma tomatoes. We paid around $20 for three slices and two drinks. Way too expensive imo. Overall a decent place. read more

The total for both of us was right at $9 and I wasn't completely full after this "meal." Since it was pretty busy during lunch hour, I think it'd be nice to offer a "lunch deal" at this location -- a big slice, a side salad and a drink for $7 -- or something like that. I LOVE Pink's specialty pizzas so I kinda wish we had ordered a full 20-inch 'Double Down' pizza and then we both could have eaten our lunch and dinner from that pizza, too. The co-workers were discussing the best pizza in town, and my normally booming voice yelling about a Neapolitan pizza place in Energy Corridor was drowned out by the mozzarella hungry mass. Well I leave no pizza stone unturned, and did my duty to head to Pink's to see what all the fuss was about. Strolled in to an empty store front at about 9. Cashier assured me that they weren't closed. *whew* Nothing worse than picking up a pizza and being 30 minutes away from eating it. They'd run out of slice, so I had to commit to the Herculean task of demolishing a 12" pizza by myself. I looked to the sky and prayed for the strength and appetite of 10 men, or one pregnant woman and ordered accordingly. The 12" specialty pies were all north of 15 smackers...hmm am I really that hungry? I went with a 12" + pepperoni + sausage. Decor - The spot was empty and fitted with those high stools and small tables. I've always wondered if these were designed to hurry people up. On the walls they featured one of my pet peeves, Skateboard Decks turned into Art. At least these had holes for the trucks. Service - Nice. Can't complain, everyone was Texas friendly (which is like normal friendly, just much bigger). Clientele - There was a young lady getting her Mac(intosh) on, and a couple of Birkenstock'd folks came through for their take out orders. This is prolly fully of locals and students on a busy night. The Pizza 1. Made in one of those conveyor ovens that you typically see @ Domino's and Papa John's. It leaves that pattern on the bottom of the crust. For pizza snobs, this is typically a bad sign. And as an aspiring snob, this did put me on edge 2. The crust - came out fine, leaning towards "bready", which is par for the course in the H. 3. The Sauce - well spiced, not pica/full of pepper, and not sweet to my taste 4. The Cheese - good ol Mozz 5. The toppings - standard grade pepperoni, that is 1.5 inch diameter slices, cut thin. The alternative to the standard is a 3/4 inch slice cut a little thicker, such that it turns into a cup under the heat, trapping a nice goblet of pork grease. Sausage was really good, but I couldn't tell you if it was anything special All in all, a fine pizza at a fair price. Considerably better than the national chains, and should please most palates. For the people who've had pizza all over the country and follow pizza blogs, this is adequate, but not destination worthy. read more

I kind of see what the big deal with Pink's Pizza is, but I kind of don't as well. Their pizzas are delicious - I'll agree with that; I don't think anyone will deny this, either. However, the price for the pizza isn't great. And their service leaves much to be desired. I came here on a weekend for lunch. I know their location isn't supposed to cater to dine-in orders as most people order on the phone and pick it up. They also get plenty of business from having their food trucks at various events and festivals. I'm glad I visited an actual location before reviewing them. I have tried several of their specialty pizzas and have liked all of them, with the Rocky being my favorite. Their prices for their slices are structured in such a way that logically, you would be inclined to order a whole pie instead of just one slice. Granted, the slices are much larger when ordered individually as opposed to the slices you get when you order a whole pie. But they do not have pricing for an individual specialty slice. Instead, you have to pay for the base slice price + each topping. In other words, buying what would be considered one slice of a specialty pizza costs between $9-12, when for just a few more bucks you can get their 12-inch pizza. In my opinion, they should at least have better pricing if they want to gain more customers. Also, their staff is either geared more towards focusing on creating the tasty food than having any customer service training. They need to recommend what's best for the customer, point out what you CAN do instead of what you CAN'T do on the menu, speak more politely, etc. I want to guess this is because, as I earlier mentioned, most of their business does not come from dine-in customers. My advice is to come in a group of 4 or more and order a whole pizza. You will get more for your money and will most likely get more help and attention from the staff. read more

Management at the West U. location isn't too bright, from a business ownership standpoint. They say I live outside their "delivery" radius, but I live outside of it by an unbearably short distance (if you were driving, 5-10 sec). They've delivered to me before, but each time it's sort of a challenge. I can understand those picking up the phone being unable to make this type of call, but giving up a repeat customer just so they don't drive 5 sec farther out of their arbitrary range (and their whole radius is only a few miles...like a 5 min drive up Kirby), and coming from a "manager" surprises me a little. That's the creativeness you would think management would have to be put in that job in the first place...you know, to make owner's money and make sure silly things like this don't happen. Ah well. THE BEST GLUTEN FREE PIZZA IN HOUSTON , so far. Expensive for Gfree Pizza ($24 +) . But the best-tasting one I've found around here, and there aren't many to begin with. They use a really great gfree crust. It's crunchy, a little fluffy, and tastes and even feels like it's not gfree. Their ingredients are really good too, very fresh. I wouldn't dine in, as it is a real pizza delivery / take out place. But if you're going gfree, this should be the only place to treat yourself to a slice. I admit it doesn't taste as amazing as the Big Boss, but just having the option to order a gluten free crust and non-dairy mozzarella on a pizza is good enough for me. I grew up in New Jersey and I would definitely consider myself a pizza snob. Pink's is the closest thing to New York pizza I've found so far in Houston. I like that you can order by the slice and the sauce and cheese are both good. I wish the crust had been crispy, though, and also the crust under the sauce/cheese was super thin and my slice kind of fell apart while eating it. We walked-in for some slices. I personally just had one, and it was huge. They make them fresh, so it took approx. 5 -6 min for the food to come out, but def worth the wait. Thin crust and super cheesy! Close to a New York style pizza than anything else. They have a couple of counters and stools to sit when you dine in, but def seems more like a take out kinda place. $3.50 per slice, but like i said, they are pretty generously sized. They do have tons of pizza's to choose from off their menu and i am SURE it wouldn't be a let down based on my simple pepperoni pizza. Store was maintained pretty well, and the employees were pretty nice. I would def have it again and would recommend it for anyone who is trying to get the New York pizza taste! read more

For those craving a solid pizza performance, please don't go to your typical band of pizza mega chains - give Pinks a go. They have recently opened this location next to my house - not sure if that is a blessing or a curse... Anyway, it is very convenient other than dealing with the nightmare known as Kirby south of 59. All of the pizzas I have tried are excellent. I particularly like the Lazy Lasagna - ricotta cheese and Italian sausage. Their pizza is thinner crust, but it holds the topping well. For those who might be looking for some delivery, they will of course deliver to your home but also to a bar/pub - just something useful when you get the craving. Wonderful pizza with cheese melted wonderfully into the wonderful dough. But not so wonderfully priced. Also, not exactly your ideal dine-in experience like Star Pizza. But, if you don't mind paying the extra $3-5 dollars and taking it to-go, this is definitely the place. The pizza oozed with homemade-ness. There are some pizza places that have great pizza, but it's all too circular and symmetrical to give you the idea that the slice of pie was made just for you. Ya know? But the pepperoni sticks were good. I only order Pink's pepperoni sticks. No more pizza for me. Horrible, horrible, horrible service. I called Pinks one night near their closing hour to order two pizzas. The guy who answered lacked enthusiasm and care for what I was ordering. After repeating my order multiple times, I received only ONE pizza after I specifically ordered TWO. And the ONE pizza I did receive was so ridiculously far off from what I ordered. The following day I called to speak w management who were so fucking rude and couldn't care less. Rather than offering a full refund or a giving us the right order for another time, he said that since the incident happened the night before he could "like maybe take off $5, if you order a pizza right now." And the estimated delivery time was a timely in comparison to other pizza joints also listed. So we took a chance. 2 stars for the terrible wings ONLY...Got an order of the spicy wings with small ranch on the side and not only did the wings look like rejected chicken parts they were uneatable. I attempted to eat 2 of them and then just threw the rest away. I read other reviews before coming here and hate hate hate to admit it but I was not impressed , and don't get me wrong the atmosphere wasn't as bad. Yes it was super super quiet no music, but sometimes that's not a bad thing. The reason why I gave them 2 stars is not because the service because it was good, they weren't rude, they weren't overly excited. He just took my pizza order and that's was it... the reason why I didn't like it is because the food. They advertise that they have homemade dough and that is 100% correct. The dough was actually amazing as you could taste the homemade flavor In it. What got me was the sauce base for the pizza. It was too chunky or can tasting for my liking. And even though I got the meat pizza it didn't have that flavor I was searching for. Of course to each is their own but if you like brothers pizza or grimaldis you wouldn't like it here. They had people in and out so that must mean that there are people out there who do enjoy it. But what do I know it's just my opinion right?! Lol read more

Ordered a pizza over 2 hrs ago. Called a couple of times, first to add cheesecake to order 30 minutes in and they said it was going out in just a few and I should have the order in 15-20. Called back an hour later when still no pizza and they said just went out. Now it's been two hours and still no food so called again. If they said it would take two hours I would have done something else. What might the pizza that was ready an hour and a half ago taste like. And the person on the phone basically hung up on me and acted like I was the problem. Just be honest and say you can't take the order. Don't lie to customers multiple times it just makes it worse. Pink's is one of the three pizza joints my husband and I frequent. They likely have the best "caprese"esque pizza with the "classico". Little chunks of roasted garlic give it the best flavor ever! They also don't overload on the cheese, which leaves me feeling less guilty after indulging. Yes, you will have to pay a little bit more for their pizzas but you won't regret it! Also, this place reminds us of Austin. Don't be afraid of the workers, who look like they are high half the time. Let's just say the "crack brownie" seems to fit in well. :) read more

Great place for a pizza to-go, would not want to eat in the restaurant, too small and very quiet, it was awkward even waiting for our pizza couldn't imagine having a conversation while trying to enjoy your pie in a complete lack of atmosphere. Wish they had beer but we just walked a few doors down and grabbed a six-pack and drank it in the car while we waited. The pizza itself is delicious as usual. Hot and cooked to perfection. No welcoming greeting at all, I have been to this location many times before and love their pizza, but today, we had emo chick that hardly spoke a word, a a guy with pressed jeans. I ordered 2 cheese slices with extra cheese and black olive, I understand when I order a slice it will be mostly done, but the 2 slices with cheese she pulled out looked like they had been sitting allllllll day ! You could hardly see the cheese any more to the point the marinara was completely showing through. I asked if they were busy she so no not at all, then I was extra weary, she put extra cheese and the black olives I asked for on the premade pizza slice. I figured it would be fine once they heated it up, no the guy pulled them out of the oven , the cheese was HARDLY melted once I got to the car, I proceeded to eat, as I was in rush hour and just wanted to enjoy a nice pizza slice or 2 on my way home. Well hoped it would be good like past times, HECK NO! It was so doughy that it was hard to pull apart, I have had links in the past and it has a bit of a crunch on the crust, and definitely well cooked. If I get any kind of food sickness I know where to point the finger. This location used to be amazing and has now gone down the drain, I know it's not 5 star pizza but I have had 5 star experience here before and for some reason just expected the same ??? Unless you are unbelievably drunk, And even that like shitty pizza then you may be able to buy your pizza from here, understanding that the staff just doesn't care ! I may try going home and re cooking my slices, but then again, I am pretty disgusted. read more

We're not big delivery/takeout pizza people in my house, as my husband is a huge pizza snob. So it's nothing short of totally surprising that he craves Pink's and actually requests it on a semi-regular basis. I really like Pink's crust- it's thin without being crackery and holds toppings well. Plus, the slices are big enough to require folding. The sauce is a touch sweet for me, but there's plenty of it and it's not overwhelming. The staff is friendly and my pizza is always ready for pickup when I get there or very shortly thereafter. I will say that I think the price for the 12" pie is a bit high. I made the mistake of ordering two 12" pizzas once and I won't do it again. read more
